😠 Rude owner!!! Have been there twice and both times he was yelling and swearing and abusing his staff. Refused to warm up our banana bread even after politely asking and served it to us wrapped in cling wrap and cold. People often mention coffee, service, staff, Michael, owner, warm, drinks, order, cafe,

Upon arrival we were met with confused staff that despite me booking the day before with Michael didn’t have a table for five. After scrambling to accomodate us we waited for 15 minutes to be asked for drinks. We tried to order with a waiter had little English so we pointed to the drinks menu to order. They arrived ten minutes later..three of five orders incorrect. We waited a full hour for very average food another incorrect drink order despite Michael ‘the owner’ making them. Service was terrible but I must say they were stressed.Michael was obviously overtly intimidating his staff. After this regrettable lunch I was charged $250. Coffee made from espresso in a squeeze bottle. A message to Michael….maybe spend more time improving quality of service and food instead of socialising outside with friends.

Starting from the beginning we made a booking and then when we arrived they seemed confused and had to rearrange tables to seat our booking number. The service was really slow with us having to fight for attention to make orders. When the orders came out they were wrong. So far we’re at slow and wrong orders and it’s been an hour.. haven’t got food yet. The food came out and it wasn’t satisfactory for the price (one eggs benedict coming out at $40) and left everyone not wanting more (because of small portions and not great quality). At the end of the meal when asking if they wanted feedback the server Michael was rude not only to us, but to the other staff. Overall, I would give less than one star if possible and wouldn’t recommend unless you want bad service, average food, and a $250 order for 5 people.

Michael, the barista was rude and disrespectful to his staff - swearing and raising his voice at a new employee in front of customers. Throughout my visit to this unfriendly cafe I witnessed the same employee get blamed for the kitchen being too slow. East Ivy was drastically understaffed and the barista needs a serious attitude check.

The waitress was very kind, however, our coffee had no coffee in it. It was literally a babychino. When we kindly asked, he was extrembely rude about it, telling us we should have asked for a double shot. Honestly though, if you had looked at the coffee, you wouldnt have known it was coffee, it was just milk... :(

Man behind the counter was quite abrupt in serving me, and certainly not friendly at all. Dude, if you don't like serving people, find something else to do! Oh and although my latte was quick, I know why - luke warm. Wouldn't recommend!

Burnt coffee and $17 for 2 large coffees. When I told him he had burnt it he told me to add some water. No apology.

The owner was loudly yelling and swearing at the new waitress to the point that everyone in the cafe was uncomfortable. Was very rude and blunt to the staff and customers. Food was average but far outweighed by the toxic environment. Will not be returning.

Great spot tucked away off the main street with nice outdoor seating. Good coffee, delicious food and fast service. I'd highly recommend the huevos rancheros with added chorizo.

I went to try this cafe out as it was recommended by a “foodie” friend. At first glance it was a cosy warm fit out followed by a warm welcome by the owner Michael. The order was taken promptly and the breakfast was sensational. The Coffee and fresh OJ was also amazing . 5 out of 5 star for these guys. Definitely the best local cafe around.

While the coffee at this cafe was excellent, I must address the service experience. While our server's lack of friendliness was disappointing, it was tolerable. However, the owner was shockingly rude when it came time for us to pay. He was very condescending and left a lasting negative impression. Despite the quality of the coffee, the poor service from the owner overshadowed our visit and I doubt that we will return. Unfortunately, I cannot provide feedback on the food as we did not order any.

Been coming here on & off for years, and both the coffee and the food have consistently been excellent. Today's burgers were delicious, and the chips in particular were some of the best I've had. Staff are always friendly & welcoming, too.

We visited this café few times . We are so impressed!!! All the dishes are fresh and delicious. I had a salad that is beautifully arranged . It had so fresh ingredients. The other 4 dishes on our table where great as well . The owner and the waitress are very kind . I will come back every time we are in the area .

Awful service. The guy yelled at me when they forgot my order and then messed it up after that. The coffee tastes like warm milk.

My favourite cafe in the east Ivanhoe strip. Always my go to when I have friends visiting or for takeaway. Always good food, coffee and chats with staff!

I don't even know where to start. Even with a booking made, they were unprepared for new customers as almost all of the empty tables were still dirty. After a 15 minute wait, we finally got the drinks we ordered only to find that almost all of the drinks were incorrect. This happened both times we ordered drinks and both times the elderly waiter Michael came over seeming quite disgruntled to correct the mistakes. The lack of service wasn't specific to the drinks though, as the food we ordered took almost an hour to arrive. When it eventually did, the servings were quite small and inadequately prepared. Some items were luke warm and some were overcooked. Even when the food started to arrive, it took an extra few minutes until we were actually given cutlery to eat with. Vastly overpriced for what was given, as a single Eggs Benedict with mushroom and spinach cost $40. Overall, the bill for 5 people was $250 for what was a thoroughly disappointing experience. Throughout the experience, we were graced with the sounds of the old waiter Michael yelling and swearing at the other staff. Not even to mention the coffee, which he used a pre-made shot of coffee which he poured from a squeezy bottle. Personally I feel that a cafe should probably serve fresh shots of coffee, as opposed to the room temperature coffee that he probably made yesterday. When we went to pay and offered feedback (as any proper business should want), we received a scathing look and no apology. I will never get that hour and a half of my life back and regret going there. 0/10.

Very nice Cafe and owner and staff. Nice and airy can sit right outside, inside or on a kind of balcony that’s warm and protected but lets air in. The coffee was very good and toasted sandwich too. The waitress couldn’t do enough for us. I’m bringing a group on a walk in a few weeks and she said happy to let them use the toilet as no Public Toilets at these shops at all. Up there for food and service. Thanks so much Moira

Outstanding coffee, food & most notably the service! Weekly visits here are a must. No matter what time of the day it is the consistency at East Ivy is second to none. We just can’t get enough of it here! 10/10 to all staff!
