Went into bistro for lunch today. Meals were nice enough. Limited choice and took a while to come out. One of your staff, " Franky" was fantastic, he went out of his way to cater to us even though he was so busy. A very polite young man. Our table were very impressed at his work ethic. Will be back again soon.

Venue with an imposing facade and large drive in Portico with a water feature running down the entrance pathway. Heaps of off street parking. Staff are friendly and attentive. The function room I was in on the second floor is off to one side and holds around 250 people with a dance floor and floor to ceiling windows. Food at the function I attended was generous and attractively plated.

Food was nice, just the basics (we had a chicken Parma and a chicken schnitzel) but the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Most pubs the vegetables are under cooked and hard as a rock so we don’t eat them. Franky behind the bar was a star, great service with not much help for a biggish crowd until the Covid Marshall chipped in to help. A real trooper! We’ll be back soon.

Whelp, here goes my first ever Karen. My teenager had their Yr 12 formal at The Manningham. My child has nut allergies, and so was asked to provide this info before the formal, without knowledge of what was going to be prepared. As it came to dinner, steaks and fancy chicken dishes were given out to students, and my child was given….a plate of rice and beans. I understand that allergies can be tough to cater for, but it’s ridiculous to put them all in the same category. My child can eat meat, can eat dairy, can eat shellfish — but there is one all-inclusive “allergy option” and because of the limitations and lack of care from serving staff, it ends up being a step above prison rations. This would be fine if my child was charged less for this meal than their peers who were enjoying a steak — but no, this is an all inclusive part of a $100+ ticket. Come on. I could feed a family of 12 on rice and beans for $10 dollars. It’s a basic poverty staple, not a high end meal. How hard is it to make a vegan meal without nuts in it? Allergy and vegan friendly food does not need to be depressing. And this was.

Have not been back for some 18 months as food was sub standard but on my recent visit on the 1/06/2023, have things changed in the restaurant. All totally refurbished with new carpet, tables, chairs and kitchen. We had sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection, delightful salad and chips. Enjoyed it so much went back on Friday night 03/06-2023 this time had roast of the day and my friend had sirloin steak again. Both meals were most enjoyable. Club has now won me over and look forward to going back again soon.

Visited the bistro for dinner on 5th January 2023 and enjoyed a great evening! The waiters were friendly and professional. We ordered garlic bread and buffalo wings for entree - very tasty! For mains we ordered the rump steak and lamb tenderloins - a special shoutout to the chefs for our delicious and generously-sized meals. Thank you! We'll definitely be back!

We had a 21st birthday function in the Sports Bar last weekend. The hotel staff leading up to the event and on the night were very happy to answer any questions and to help with anything. The Sports Bar was a fun venue and was perfect for our event. I would recommend this venue for a similar function and repeat how diligent the staff would be in assisting to make it a success. The food (finger food) was of excellent quality too! The venue was clean and it was great to be able to use the data projector and screens. Thanks to all the great staff involved!

The staff are exceptionally friendly. The food is beautiful. But the menu is small. Where has the variety gone in the pubs today? Understandably because no one is visiting. Our table of 4 was the only ones there for the 6:30 service. It's very sad! Highly recommend!

Went here for a year 12 formal, the function room was well put together and provided a great atmosphere, only thing I can complain about there is the dance floor needs to be bigger. For entrees, there was potato gnocchi and Peri Peri chicken skewers, the potato gnocchi was a little bit underwhelming I will admit, it was good, the flavors were a little bit not present. The Peri Peri skewers however, were great, chicken was flavorsome, although not very peri-peri, it still had some amazing flavors in it, and an A for plating. For mains, they rolled out chicken parmas and rump steak, and wow. The chicken parmas were cooked perfectly, the ham was thick, the sauce was lathered on, all put together, an amazing dish. And it only got better from there, the rump steak was cooked to an incredible medium rare, it was juicy and flavorsome and honestly, I couldn't complain about it one bit. The desert towers they rolled out were a solid 7 out of 10, some of the deserts were an interesting choice, but the variety made up for that, the coffee slice was honestly my favorite one there. Overall, the venue was amazing, it out together a great atmosphere and the catering was brilliant, id recommend this place to anyone who needed a function.

Accessible and spacious from the outside, with a moderately sized dinning room and the rest of the property dedicated to function rooms, a huge bottle shop and a large area for pokie tragics. Food was okay but ordering at the bar was a farce. Staff is friendly but completely overwhelmed by the presence of only one ordering terminal with a woefully slow and complicated user interface software. Standing in the queue to order for 17 minutes is not okay!

We have a large party for dinner with a function room booked after for an event. I understand the issues with staff in hospitality currently. But waiting 40mins for food that is served cold isn't acceptable.

Came for dinner with my partner and two kids last night. They forgot to make my drink until I asked for it again. The menu is very limited, especially if you have dietary requirements. Meals were average, and the kids play area is underwhelming (unless you want to spend more money on the claw machine). Editing to add the staff were lovely and attentive, though and were apologetic for forgetting my drink.

Worst Christmas Day lunch experience ever. Waited over 2 hours for entree, then over another hour for main and desert was around another hour after. Trio of meats for main had maybe 60-80g of meat. 3 very small and thin slices of meat. Apple & rhubarb was served semi frozen without the rhubarb. Vegan option supplied was an embarrassment. $100 per person. Service team was good. Kitchen was ill prepared and it was a train wreck and really like amateur hour.

Took my one hundred year old mother in law for lunch. I let it slip that it was a special day, her birthday. Giselle was extra nice to us and offered free cake and coffee. Very nice gesture...... top marks from me, a regular and happy customer.

Love the venue. The bistro environment is top class. Wait staff very good. But the food, which has never been its strong point has sunk to lowest standard ever. Both meals ordered tonight 1/11/19 were inedible. Such a lost opportunity for what could be such a good local venue.

Had a shocking lunch experience with the worst service for what was meant to be a very special family reunion for my aunt's 80th birthday. Two young waiters in particular were rude and unaccommodating. My chicken was left off my salad with a very lazy "we ran out of chicken" explanation. No suggestion for alternatives or apology. My son's dessert was forgotten for over an hour, only to be told the kitchen is closed with no apology or suggestion of a refund or alternative. And I was asked to go the gaming room for a glass of water - despite the fact that the two waiters were behind the bar with glassware and water taps directly in front of them. The icing on the cake was when one of the aforementioned rude waiters almost ran over my 5 year old niece in the carpark whilst driving his red BMW 4 series far too fast in his abrupt exit from his lunch shift. Shocking. I will never return and will tell others to save their money and go to the Veneto Club across the road instead.

Just another waste on money spent on a building that has no personality or character. Service was all about inexperienced staff. So not aiming at the staff doing best, it's management that has a poor sence of hospitality. Food was fish$chip shop quality at best and had no true connection to prices. Pokies cause social damage and death of a good night in any of the pubs they have ruined.... Food made of wool looks and l bet tastes better:(

Fathers Day was terrible. Service was poor. Meals took over an hour to be served. They completely forgot one of our group and she didn't get her meal till well after the rest of us had finished ours. The food, I would class it as a "canteen" standard. presentation non existent, missed sauces, apology for a T bone steak, pricey and very poor selection on the menu. I wouldn't recommend anyone visit here with a group for a celebration. It's a pity because the venue is very impressive and the staff friendly. Their kitchen let the venue down.

Have to give this place a 3 mostly for nostalgia purposes! This place is like stepping back in times, the interior is so old school inside. The staff and service is really really good and friendly. The check in system is so old school too! Food itself is pretty average/below average if I’m being honest but service made us for this. Good place to bring a grandparent for dinner!

Overall the experience at the venue where we held the Gender Reveal of our baby was very good. There were a few things that could have been done better but we trust they will be improved. We would surely count on this venue for future events!

Went there for my birthday on Saturday, ordered seniors Parma. Size excellent but schnitzel was cold and not shallow fried probably oven heated store bought with cold tomato paste under the ham and cheese that weren't broiled enough. Chips were store bought but we're excellent, but no dressing on the salad greens. Very disappointing as it doesn't take much to make a good meal in the kitchen I wouldn't think.

Lovely venue, however attended an event where food wasn't allowed from outside but they turned up to be completely unprepared to feed 200 ppl attending an organised event in timely manner. Our lunch break during the event waited for my meal 45 min.

Booked the Ben Nevis room at the Manningham Hotel. Had a very positive experience. Staff were friendly, helpful and excellent to work with. Was part of a group of 18 people and the first to order and I ended up receiving my meal last. The order was for a well done steak and on arrival you could hear the cow dying. It was blue in colour. Not impressed

We came here for dinner with a large group last week. Everyone commented on how good the food was. I had the spaghetti marinara which was very tasty. The chicken Parma and steak was reportedly good too. The prices are on par with other pub style places but with much better quality food.

We visit here sometimes just for a drink, other times for meals. We always find the service friendly and efficient and we are always greeted with a smile at reception. The meals are of a consistently good standard, with meat and fish always cooked the way we like it. There is a well appointed outdoor seating area which is pleasant to sit in during the warmer weather. Overall a great venue.

Very impressive and very large complex. Went with a group of 20 people and all but one had a great meal, good service (so avoid the roast dinner). Loads of parking. Current road works and resulting congestion in the area make access difficult. Worth going to support them during the freeway construction.

Not fair to review menu, because it was set for a large function. While beef and chicken options looked okay, the vegetarian dish wasn't. Finger food was good. Noisy ambient music during keynote speech... Staff needed prompting to switch off

Went last Saturday night and left a little disappointed. Meals were OK, but customer service was sadly lacking. Was a regular prior to COVID and after lockdown it hasn’t quite been the same. Have been a few times now and this was by far the least enjoyable. No friendly greeting on arrival, just a ‘Do you have a booking’ and straight to the table, that’s it. Let me point out that the waiters weren’t rude but they lacked the interaction with customers like there has been in the past. Not one waiter who walked by during our meal, stopped to ask if everything was ok, and when we left, there was no one to farewell us e.g. ‘Goodnight, Hope to see you again soon, Thanks for coming’ etc, etc. The place wasn’t even busy. I get there are a lot of organisations that are having staffing issues, but happy customers generate more positive feedback and reviews for your restaurant. We used to get a complimentary bread roll or two, but that’s stopped and I’m pretty sure the menu is a little different as well. Steak looked like the size has been trimmed down a bit and the price has increased. It would also be nice if there was more than one piece of sad looking tomato on the side salad. The Tiramisu was more like some sort of chocolate sponge and it lacked the classic tastes of a proper Tiramisu. And the dollops of mock cream out of a can is not a good addition. In fairness there are meals to suit most tastes, but it is standard pub fare and nothing made me want to give a glowing review. Might try this place again in 6-12 months time to see if anything has changed.

  • 2/5 S A. 1 year ago on Google
Not one of our better pub meal experiences... One steak was not cooked to desire, chicken parma came out too pink and raw, one chicken on side of nasi goreng came out rock hard dry plus they forgot the prawns, we found the spring rolls too miniture, the pork wasn't great. The tiramisu was more a sponge cake and the chocolate mars bar cheesecake had not likings of a mars bar. On the flipside, the steak sandwiches were good, the calamari was nice and roast of the day was nice, even though the big size was still quite small. We won't be going back at all, shame as the staff were nice. Even though there was a table big enough to accomodate all 12 of us, which I requested we sit on a table other than thin and long, they sat us near the door, no other patrons were there and the empty big table in a warmer corner remained empty all night...

Food was good, place is clean and kid friendly, plenty of parking. We booked for 25 people but where told we could not order any sides with meals because of the numbers. They could have just mentioned this when booking however it only affected a couple of total people's ordering.

A Tale of Two Meals Friday, Jan 6th. The porterhouse, cooked rare with chips & veggies was as expected for a pub meal & enjoyable. On the other hand, the chicken schnitzel was appalling & I regret that we didn't send it back. My expectation is for it to be gently pan fried, served tender & juicy. Sadly, it was overcooked, tough, dry & a very dark tan colour, as if it had been deep fried. This shows a poor level of skill by the chef & an unacceptable standard by the hotel.

Took my Aunt for a birthday lunch and had not been there before. Was impressed with the cleanliness and presentation of the premises but it was downhill from there. The young man behind the bar was friendly and efficient but my compliments stop there. We both ordered roast beef, not too difficult I would have thought. I was wrong. After a few mouthfulls I gave up on the beef as it was like shoe leather. The veggies were of different stages of being cooked. Two potatoes, one was well cooked, the second could have been used as a golf ball. My Aunt could not chew her beef and I suspect both serves had been reheated. The meat was left on her plate and she said her veggies were not acceptable either. How hard does the "chef" find it to cook a roast meal, even to get one part of the meal correct. While the surroundings were very nice the food was appaling

I had a Parma with a schooner of furphy for lunch. Very good value - total under $30 on the lunch specials. The crumb was crisp, the chicken was juicy and the sauce was seasoned nicely with Italian herbs. The chips were hot and crunchy, the salad was fresh, the portion size was good, and came with ham- good to see considering some pubs are charging $3 extra for a slice! Overall I was very satisfied with the meal and the dining experience.

Very disappointed on the weekend. We asked for 2 coffees in the pokies, USUALLY FREE, but this time told we couldn't have one unless we put a gold coin in the pink pig for the kids. Due to covid, we use card not cash so had no cash on us. The rude young man at the counter didnt care, making us feel quite uncomfortable, so we didnt get a drink! Meals in bar area come out luke warm unfortunately but they are tasty. And we both support our own kids and work with the disabled. Go Figure!

Beautiful hotel, I went here for a presentation night and it was absolutely stunning. Very easy to find and the service was amazing. Food came out a bit slower than I expected but it was definitely worth the wait. I had the roast pork for the entree, Char grilled sir loin strips for the main course and the best dish that I found was the sticky date pudding for dessert, it was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place to others wanting to do a function

Went to the Tuesday $15 steal night and chose a medium rare porterhouse steak. Was cooked on the more medium then rare side...which is okayish. But was a dried out and bland cut of meat with no fat for flavour or to tender. Checking out the kitchen they had a pile of meat either par cooked. But suspect they were fully cooked and waiting for a customer. For a $15 it's a just pass with the sides. But regardless, with some good prep and loving it could have been vast better steak.

Came here on a Tuesday night to check out the sports bar. The bar itself is pretty modern with good quality seating. The TAB is a seperate room away from the main bar however it was very quiet. The bar itself has two pool tables currently at $2 a game. Unfortunately there are no pinball machines here which is a shame so I'm unlikely to come back for a beer. Service was friendly with reasonably inexpensive food options. Trivia is on Wednesday nights.

Great room for the number of guests, own private bar and bar person and seperate toilet facilities. Staff more than helpful and kept a check on how the afternoon was proceeding. We only ordered finger food which came hot and promptly and we had a small amount left so the catering was spot on. Very good value.
