if you like pretentious bartenders and handsy security then this is the place for you! i had my personal prescription taken out of my bag and asked what they were, the security touched everything in my bag which is not only a covid hazard, but a hazard to him as he didn’t know what was in there the bartender at the cocktail bar was extremely rude, rolling her eyes at us, saying she wouldn’t make ‘anything like that’ when we asked about a long island ice tea, which i feel is a pretty standard request, then insisted on seeing my bank card to verify my id. after being talked down to like children, reluctantly served, we quickly drank and left. never going back.

It was 3am when commonwealth bank went down and I couldn’t pay for my drinks. The bar staff didn’t fuss- they said it was fine. They gave me my drinks politely ‘on the house’. They could have embarrassed me in front of others. Instead they took the L. What a place. Best bar in Melbourne. Thanks team. You are awesome. I owe you $20 😆

Tried to get in at 2:45am, the bouncer didn't let me in due to the fact that they close in an hour. What a joke. An hour is more than enough time to go in and have a drink and leave that's all I wanted to do. I was a bouncer for 7 years and I've never heard a poor excuse such as that. If I could give zero stars I would.

Cool dive bar to meet otehr rock fans after concerts. Like an old fashioned 70's bar! All blood, sweat and tears and great atmosphere of a little small and squashed!

If you're looking for a fun and lively spot in Melbourne CBD, you absolutely must visit Cherry bar! I recently went with a mate who hadn't been there in years and we had an absolute blast. The atmosphere was electric and had us both dancing and singing along to the live music. Despite the bustling crowd, the staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed to keep the good times rolling. The drinks were delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall enjoyment of the night. We were particularly impressed by the signature cocktails - they were a real treat! Overall, Cherry bar is an awesome spot to spend an evening with great company. The vibrant and lively atmosphere, combined with the great drinks and friendly staff, make for an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a local or a tourist, I highly recommend checking it out for yourself and letting the good times roll!

Extremely over crowded, to the point of being unable to move between bars, very varied groups and a lot of creepy people. Do not go here, avoid and go to any other club/bar!!!!

Seeing the reincarnation of a bar I frequented in another location so many years ago is heartwarming. The feeling is different, but I suspect the overall outcome for live music is similar or the same. I rolled in on a Monday night at about 9 pm and missed the last muso for the night. Clearly, the place was packed, with standing room only. I will return for the full Cherry Bar experience on my next visit to Melbourne. Venues like this just need to be supported because of what they do to a city. Melbourne is still a shadow of its former self and arts and culture took a beating. So it is good to see a once defunct gathering place, back up and running in a post-covid world. I'd highly recommend supporting and frequenting a bar like this because you don't know what you've got until it's not there anymore.

Best bar in Melbourne. Staff are friendly, had an issue once that they were quick to fix. The person at the front desk is so fudging nice The prices are fair The music is great I even left my card behind and they were quick to get in touch with me about it.

Went to Cherry first weekend out of lockdown and wow!! Not only are the staff super friendly but the drinks and music are awesome. If you like rock music this is the bar for you!!!!

A dark and welcoming venue where it feels like all are welcome. Went along for live music upstairs. Was a great space - cosy, intimate and full of character. Look forward to returning.

Melbourne's iconic late night rock n roll venue that never fails to deliver local and touring artists of a cool caliber. Everything from punk to alternative over 2 levels. Say hi to James with the big stetson hat.

Cherry Bar has moved from AC/DC lane to a new location, which isn’t fantastic. The acoustics in the band room are quite harsh. But friendly staff and as always, a rowdy and fun night.

Fav Bar plus hangout place @ AC/DC Lane, Melbourne... friendly nice bartenders...good drinks ,good crowd , great music... if u are lucky i may meet some great famous band members here aswell..highly recommended.

Felt like we missed the boat only getting to visit the famous Cherry Bar in its new location and on a Wednesday night. Drinks were good except they kept running out of beers. Open mic night upstairs was great to see some local bands but the sound clash made sitting downstairs quite hard work. Nice bar but the atmosphere was lacking.

Must do for rock fans. Located in aptly named ac/dc lane. An amazing band was playing at 4 pm on a Saturday and they truly rocked it. Deserves a stop on your Melbourne trip or Saturday evening.

If you are not able bodied - don't bother! Up skinny stairs with a U-turn half way! Toilets are gender specific and there is no room for an assisting person to fit into the tiny cubicles to assist. Staff were friendly and accommodating as much as they could and the vibe was good, but it was a nightmare entering and leaving the place and not worth the trip.

Was looking for a watering hole with atmosphere, music, beer... maybe a cocktail or two. Found all of that here... Even friendly bar staff 🙂 Just missing some snacks

I'm a little biased since I know a lot of the staff, but everytime I've come here has been a blast. Even with sit down service, it was laughter, drinks and a good time. The atmosphere is incredible and perfectly sums up the old school Melbourne music scene

Visited the cherry bar to see Guns and Roses plus Poison cover bands, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the sold out crowd, my fav bands so got to say had a fantastic night overall, highly recommended venue.

Took my husband (who had yet to experience Cherry in it’s newest incarnation) for a “quick” post shopping birthday drink yesterday. We had the gorgeous lil cocktail lounge pretty much to ourselves for the first hour with the magnificent Annabel creating some absolutely dazzling cocktails for us served up with some cracking chat. That one drink turned into four (or was it five?🤔). Can’t remember. Anyway, I think I might love this leopard clad version of Cherry even more than it’s previous AC/DC Lane form. And I liked that a whole lotta lot.

So we went there sober and because we were male the bouncers did not let us in. Would not recommend to anyone, if the bouncers keep their job after this I’m shocked. They could have made money from 5 of us but no. Didn’t realise discrimination was a thing but at this place it still is. Do not go!

You just can’t beat the vibe here for a drink and a dance whether it’s to DJs or live music. It’s a regular venue for me, and will continue to be.. The staff are a dream and I love that Guinness is now on tap! Yum!

Hot, dark, and cramped. I like my fair share of grungy environments but when you’ve got gigs happening in such a small venue with low ceiling levels and a lack of ventilation it does add to the pleasantries of the experience. The air con return looked like it had never been cleaned, empty beer cans were falling off of the beams, water taps were broken, also did I mention just how dark it was. I wouldn’t want even think how an evacuation from a fire would go.

Played here with my band and the staff are just the best. Friendly, funnny and helpful. Excellent selection of drinks and downstairs is a vibe. Can't wait to go back.

I proposed to my fiance here over the weekend as it was where we had our first date. Must be something about the place she likes cos she said yes!! Huge shout-out to Lachlan and the staff who helped out and even took some pictures. We'll be sure to keep coming back

Proper good, old fashioned rock bar. Staff are on the ball, music was decent all night. Cosy and dark like a decent rock bar should be, and the people were friendly.

Perhaps 3 months ago one of your bar tenders verbally assaulted and threatened me after work. She had told everyone who witnessed her behaviour where she worked. She appeared extremely drunk. She had long half dyed hair and was wearing a mini skirt. The overall behaviour I saw from her was revolting. I am posting this anonymously as I want to protect my identity but I’m a regular patron of cherry. She is not a safe or professional person to have working around alcohol. After sharing my story with friends I found out her name is Emily and she is known in certain social circles to be aggressive and dangerous. I thought about posting this for ages and decided I should, as I’ve heard about far worse behaviour since this happened.

Barmaid girl was so friendly and good humored. Espresso martini was perfect. Very nice place.

Highly popular bar that supports local music acts and has theme nights on occassion. Great atmosphere and well worth stopping in if you are in the CBD.

Nick and Duckin ( hope that’s how you spell it) were amazing and the best and so sweet! Had an amazing time and were treated so well the whole night, would recommend to anyone for a good night out! They need a raise!!!

Cool dive bar for lovers of rock. I had a couple of beers in here and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The bartenders were s little disappointing as they didn't really seem too happy to be there.

Nice staff. Small, dark, dingey pub. Good atmosphere. No cocktails when we visited but plenty of different spirits.

The best rock bar in the world is a bit of a stretch but this place is pretty good. Reasonably priced drinks, great music, just wish it was a little bigger because it gets crowded very quickly.
