I provided this restaurant the opportunity to respond to this very disturbing incident and 1 week has passed without a response. We are regular customers of many years and have celebrated lots of special occasions in your restaurant. We are members of your VIP club. We also supported your restaurant during lock down by ordering take away to ensure the restaurant could continue post lock down. Last Saturday night (05Feb 22) we had a reservation @ 5.45pm for 4 people. When I made the reservation, I was told anytime between 5.30pm and 6pm would be okay and that the restaurant needed the table back by 8pm I agreed to this. My husband and I arrived just before 6pm and our guests were already seated. We were reminded at this time that the table is needed back by 8pm. Again, we were okay with this. We ordered our meals, service by our waiter was quite attentive and our meals were good. The main course did take some time to come to the table, not really a problem, but this did take up some of our precious time at the table. After our main course we were offered dessert and coffee. We declined this as we wanted to finish our drinks as we were mindful of the time and wanted to be considerate enough to ensure the table would be vacated by 8pm. After this another waiter (name unknown - young male with dark hair) approached our guest at 7.50pm and told him it was time to leave. We discussed this amongst ourselves at our table and decided there was sufficient time to finish our drinks so we could be out by 8pm. The waiter had spoken to our guest in a very rude bordering on aggressive manner. I do not know this waiter - I think maybe he is new - young male with dark hair. I then raised this issue with one of your regular staff - Adam, I think? (Duty manager) By this time we were standing at the counter - I said to Adam I was disappointed to be treated and spoken to in such a rude manner and reminded him that it was not yet 8pm. He absolutely shocked me by responding aggressively and waiving his finger at me saying "You have no reason to be disappointed, I told you 3 times to leave" - please understand it was not yet 8pm. I then shared with Adam that our main course took some time to reach our table and I am really glad that we didn't order dessert and coffee and his response was 'So did everyone's, now leave' He then proceeded to chastise me about the fact that my husband and I arrived late for our 5.45pm reservation - we arrived just before 6pm. I am not sure what the relevance of this was but I certainly do not appreciate a waiter taking me to task for arriving a few minutes late. I pointed out the time to Adam? (still not 8pm) and to my shock he waived his hand at me and said "Just Get Out!!" This was all so unnecessary as there was never any indication from us that our table would not be vacated by 8pm. We agreed verbally that we would vacate the table in time and then made every move to ensure this happened. Most importantly the staff should have used alternative language when speaking to a customer, in a crowded restaurant, within hearing distance of other patrons. I have never ever been treated or spoken to in such an appalling manner by any wait staff in any restaurant without any justification. This was very embarrassing. We will not return to Templestowe Living room after many years of loyal patronage. I will also caution anyone else to be aware that this restaurant can treat their loyal customers in such a disgraceful way. At no time did we delay our departure from the table. We were out in the street @ 7.58pm. This behaviour has now cost this restaurant our patronage. Adam and the wait staff involved definitely need some training in customer service when under time constraints.

Went to this place last minute for a date night. Everything was so great. They put us next to the fire which was a nice touch. All the food was really delicious, we went for a few things out of the ordinary and were not disappointed. It's not the cheapest place but worth the cost. The staff are really friendly as well. Will be back.

Food was overpriced & average. Service was appalling. Unbelievable rude staff who were not helpful. Might I add, it was not busy. I’ve read several reviews regarding vouchers. Again, sadly to report they rudely dismissed our voucher we tried to use. Even had the owner accused us of making it ourselves. Sounds like a consistent con regarding vouchers if you read other reviews. Avoid at all costs.

After being Locked down for 8 months of not being able to eat out- when the lift started, the first place to give support is Living Room! The MUST HAVE ...Pork Belly Roasted, Lamb Shank, Sirlion, Sticky Date Pudding and Tia Ria Misu!

The lamb Wellington consisted of a large lamb leg which was tender. It was wrapped in puff pastry which was nice but it was a bit thick for me. The gravy sauce with vegetables was tasty. The dish tasted homemade. The fettuccine marinara was actually pretty good. The longer you ate into the meal, it seemed to get better. The mussels were a little bit too small, that were on display. A minimal disappointment for fine dining. All in all, a good meal. This restaurant tends to take a bit of time when bringing the food out, but the taste and presentation make the wait worthwhile.

Dined for dinner with a friend. I had the lamb loin special for main followed by the choc fondant for dessert & I also enjoyed a passionfruit martini. All the food & drinks were delicious. Love this restaurant & will definitely return. Service friendly.

We have been here twice so far and love this place. The staff is warm and friendly. The food is delicious and portions are good sized. Although a very few vegetarian options are available and almost none in the mains. The desserts are amazing too. The only reason for the 4stars is, the place needs cleaning. The ceilings, and corners have visible cob webs and the tables near the windows need more cleaning. Apart from this it's worth every penny.

We had a lovely experience dining at this place. The dishes were well presented and tasty. The waiters were polite and attentive. The wait for the meals to arrive was a little longer than expected but worthwhile. One of the glasses was unclean with lipstick stains but was swapped for a clean one without any issues. Good place to have a celebration meal.

Food is decent. Service is appalling. Went for dinner and had to wait well over an hour and fifteen minutes for the meals. Kids meals were served 45 minutes before the adults. Had to constantly ask where the food was and was continually told it is coming or it is being plated up. Finally had enough and went to speak with the manager who decided he wanted to argue how long it had been since we last asked where the food was. He could use a good lesson in customer service and maybe buy a watch. Toilets absolutely stank also. Clearly a problem in there.

Unfortunately the food for breakfast was really poor: my gluten free toast was warm bread (even after we sent it back), the bacon was completely burnt to a crisp (still after we sent it back), the ham was burnt as well. Very disappointing. The service was ok.

The quality of the food here was fantastic. Fresh ingredients and very tasty. Great effort was put into each dish. My husband had the lamb filo pastry dish and it was amazing. I ordered the barramundi which was delicious but the the size of the fish was too small. Green beans would have been a nice accompaniment. The tiramisu and lemon start were home made and also very delicious.

Went in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The waiters were polite and attentive but the food was a bit of a let down. Whilst reasonably priced, the taste was very average (especially the chips) and took almost 30 minuted to come out.

Large group for a birthday dinner tonight. Fantastic food and caring and attentive service. If you haven’t tried the baked scallops in gruyere sauce I suggest booking immediately and getting over there. Sensational. I had the duck for the main and it was perfect. Full 5 stars and highly recommended.

We went here for a birthday dinner and enjoyed the quiet ambience from the well spaced tables, gentle lighting and large digital picture frame over the fireplace with rotating artwork. There was a creative take on the lamb loin with the addition of a pastry wrapped lamb cigar but the highlight was the banana maple cheesecake which was magnificent.

The food was wonderful, the staff amazing and the decor terrific. There’s an out door area which I think would be terrific for lazy afternoons. I was there at lunch time and it was a mostly senior citizen clientele which may have affected my atmosphere review. All in all though I would eat here again if so were in the area.

A dining experience above and beyond. Went in with family and was joyfully greeted by staff who directed us to our table, poured our water and took drink orders. Despite my allergies the kitchen and wait staff were more than accommodating and made no fuss. I have to recommend the Barramundi Fillet, the buttery texture of the pan fried fish was unbelievable. I asked about it and was told its wild caught in the NT instead of being farmed which is why there was not muddy taste. If youre looking for an unscale dining experience look no further. Thanks for looking after the table Adam and Robert.

One of my families favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, as is the service. The price is average. You can sign up to be a VIP guest and receive a free bottle of wine with your meal, and a free main meal on your birthday. The restaurant has a special ambiance, it reminds me of being in a family home.

Went there 16 February 2020 for my Dad's birthday lunch. Booked for 1pm. It was not full, yet service was exceptionally slow. Took 75 minutes for our main course to arrive. Food was okay, but not worth the price paid. The duck breast consisted of 4-5 slices of breast meat, with some unexceptional vegetables on the side. Staff appeared harried and overworked, despite their best efforts. Parking is a challenge, so unless you need to find a place in Templestowe, I would suggest giving it a miss.

I would like to share my experience with Aksorn Thai after seeing a debate appear on Facebook in a local community group about the best thai place in Diamond Creek. I have never been much of a restaurant person, growing up I never developed a relationship with any particular chain or dinner spot — but my entire relationship with food changed when I experienced this place, and I am going to go out on a limb and say that Aksorn Thai in Diamond Creek might not only be the best thai place in Diamond Creek, but it might just be the best restaurant created in the history of human civilisation. The owners/ operators are among the nicest people I know in and out of the Thai food industry, and the food is about as addictive as the kind of things it’s illegal to sell in a restaurant. I will forever hold loyalty to this restaurant, and I am yet to see a single restaurant even compete with the level of service and consistency of the food. There is no question. Aksorn Thai is the best Thai food restaurant in Diamond creek and it’s surrounding suburbs. That’s pretty much it

You guy's came highly recommended by a good friend Peter a regular patron. We were going to book another restaurant in the area but Peter insisted we should try The Living Room. So we booked a table for four, and so glad we did. The four dishes were amazing. The service was as good as the food. Obviously cleanliness is a high priority to this establishment. We are looking forward to our next visit. This review was done on the same day, and deserves a 5-star rating based on our experience. Fantastic thank you and keep up the good work.

Wait staff was fantastic, bruschetta delicious but the mains were very ordinary. Lamb Wellington had dry lamb shoulder, raw pastry and a whole portabello mushroom as opposed to a duxelle and was also lacking any sauce (lentils were the best part). Scallop risotto incredibly bland, and scallops overcooked. Gnocchi was nice. Given the price, very disappointed especially because previous experiences have been positive.

I have had dinner several times and enjoyed the food and experience every time. But on my latest meal last Tuesday I was very disappointed with the dessert which was the sticky date pudding which I have enjoyed on previous visits. The pudding was just warm and just didn’t taste right. My wife tasted it and he comment was it’s very cake like and under cooked. A bit disappointed but I will return as everyone has a bad day now and then.

Positives are definitely the ambience, calamari and the pastas... But as a whole I am surprised it is so highly rated. It is a very average restaurant that is clearly overcharging and under-serving. The steak was just burnt and dry with uncooked potato (I think) sides and extremely bitter mustard on top. Barramundi felt like it was just steamed and had no flavour. While our waitress was good...rest of the staff looked uninterested and probably tired...truly hoping it was not just towards us, as their typical clientele was clearly not very diverse.

Always enjoy dinner here. Could only get an 8pm booking. Order taken quickly and a bottle of wine and water delivered as expected. However, it took about 40 minutes for the garlic bread to come and an hour and ten minutes for the main course to come. Too late to eat! We almost finished the wine before the main meal arrived. Disappointing as we really like this place. There seemed to be plenty of waiters but maybe not enough kitchen staff?

Templestowe Living Room hosted 29 people for a retirement function and we were super impressed with the food and service. It’s unusual to receive such delicious food when catering for a large number. They were also super considerate when being out food to note that someone was speaking and so they held onto her meal until she was ready. Would definitely recommend for a large group gathering.

From the number of occasions I have dined at Living Room the meals have been of a consistently good standard. But today I ordered oysters kilpatrick and the oysters were mushy and did not have the texture of normal oysters. I hope this is a one off and will still return for the other items on the menu that I usually enjoy.

Absolutely fabulous!! The young man who served us was very attentive all night and the food was sublime. We'll be returning...what a gem!

I have been coming to The Living Room off and on for several years and after a long hiatus I returned with a friend. Nothing has changed (except the menu). The superb choices of dishes, great staff and warm atmosphere continues. We arrived on Friday night with a lovely greeting from the staff. We were seated at one of my favourite tables and that's when the great service begins. I could focus on the food but it goes without saying. The food is always superb with a nice choice of wine that complements each meal. However, what I noticed more than ever was the attentiveness of the staff. First - they listen. Listen to our tastes, thoughts and likes. They make gentle selections and expand our options for dining. My friend and I ordered the same meal although one was a main the other an entree. From order to table was 20 minutes. In the meantime we drank a stunning Yangarra Shiraz. Our glasses discreetly topped up. No intrusion on our private, intimate conversation. Once our meals arrived we were offered extra freshly grated Parmesan and black pepper - then left alone to eat. Just before we'd finished the waiter checked in. Nice. Discreet. Not asking for anything more than 'how's your meal?' The Living Room was full this night as it is many nights, so book in advance and if you can't make it at least be courteous and let them know. It's the people and culture behind a place like this that makes it great. So I decided to snap some if the staff. Fun. Friendly. Professional. There is plenty of parking around but do look at the limitations as inspectors are quick off the mark. This place is wheelchair friendly with a ramp at the rear. Kid friendly but more so earlier in the evening. High chair available. Toilets clean and regularly checked. I know locals who come here regularly and I will continue to visit as my restaurant of choice with a new date. Thank you to all staff for making it another memorable night.

Staff, great. Food, not so much. This restaurant looks (and is priced) like it should be quality, but was very bland. The entree scallop and chorizo was the best part of the meal. The mains, marinara salad and duck breast were both very bland, tasteless and disappointing. Passable for a family restaurant but not where you are paying almost $40 per meal. The staff were lovely and helpful. The wine, nice and well priced. Probably won’t be back.

The taste was good, the food and drinks were relatively cheap, and the middle-aged man's service was very good. I think it's the best quality store in the area. However, the service of the young people is not bad with smiles, but I think that customers will be more satisfied if they provide another level of service. I will go again.

Great local find. Have been there twice now, and the quality of food is fantastic. We particularly like the atmosphere and the care the staff seem to have. Would've given it 5 stars, if we weren't given a time when we had to leave to make room for another booking - we just think that's bad business. Why kick a family out when they are there spending their money on your produce? Overall, it's not a 'cheap' place to dine, but you get what you pay for and we're happy to support a local business!

Couldn't fault it. I have been there a three or four times over several years and it has always been good. Went there on a whim for lunch last weekend and it could not have been better. The food was superb, the service excellent and very well priced for what it was. Would highly recommend.

High quality customer service and broad selection of food, and beverages. Dessert selection minimum. Atmosphere was nice, however noisy when restaurant is full. Recommended

Celebrated our parents birthdays here last night, Mum turned 80 and Dad 81. My Sister and I wanted somewhere classy with white table cloths and linen napkins. Although we are not local to Templestowe this restaurant ticked all the boxes and more. All 10 of us (including 3 young adults) had a wonderful evening. Service was faultless & very attentive and all meals were amazing. Compliments to all involved. Highly recommended and we will be back.

The kitchen & staff did so well. Went for a Friday lunch just before Xmas ! They had large groups to cater for but were still attentive to our table of 2 . Specials are always interesting and I usually chose from them

We came at almost the end of service. We’re really hi gry my family and wife. Ordered pasta, goat cheeses tart, calamari and chicken plates with entrees. The taste was amazing in every plate. Service was excellent and they made a last minute dish for my son (thank you chef). Price is well affordable and the atmosphere is really chill. Thank you guys. Coming back soon for sure

Yesterday lunched with three friends, we all had flathead tails, chips & salad, $26. Quite enjoyable apart from the "salad", a meagre portion of tired, sliced lettuce. Hopefully this will be improved before my next visit. Thank you.

Great menu, decent portion sizes, polite and attentive staff (Maddy) willing to go above and beyond. Kids steak was 'amazing' and given a '5 out of 5', by my 10 year old son. We'll be back. 👌

Slow service. It took about an hour just to get our food. When we got our food everyones dish was very average and not worth the money at all. You could get MUCH better food for the same or lower price elsewhere.

Booked a table here for seven a couple of weeks ago for dinner with some friends and family. Everything was pitch-perfect. Great wine, outstanding food, and friendly and attentive staff. It's a little on the expensive side being fine-dining of course, but the price was justified and I'll certainly be back for the next special occasion to treat myself. Cheers guys

this place deserve 0 stars. terrible customer service with very average food.chefs eating while cooking customers food and food takes forever to come out. waiting 40 minutes for a main when restaurant was very empty also. do yourself a favour and go to carrluccis for a much better experience with decent food and much better customer service. there is a reason this restaurant is not busy! will not be returning very unhappy with how we were treated by the staff, very unprofessional!

Its recommended that you reserve a table at this popular restaurant. We enjoyed our good value mains (grilled flathead tails and chicken marsala), plus shared dessert (sticky date pud) and glass of wine. It's located in a cluster of shops including an IGA and a Speciality South African shop. There is lots of free parking.

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants. The food was great and their customer service was outstanding. But my recent experience was very bad with their customer service. I have been there with my family celebrating my birthday. The waitress was so rude and for some reason very angry. First, she threw the empty plates in front of my little kids (4 and 2 yo) instead of placing them softly on the table and it made me feel so bad. After we finished our meal, I’ve asked her to change the papers on the table and put some new ones because I wanted the table to look good on the photos. Guess what! She rejected our request and said I’m not gonna change it for you! I asked her 3 times politely and every time she said that she is not gonna change it because our table is messy and we have no attitude!! I asked for the manager and one other staff came and apologised and serviced our table. But that experience left all of us shaking, angry and basically I don’t remember anything after that incident about my cake and the celebration my family prepared for me. All I remember is the stress she puts on me and the disrespect I experienced there.

The service provided by our outstanding waiter Robert was exemplary. Robert was engaging, humorous and attentive to our needs and requests. The food was delicious and Robert expertly cleared our dishes and accurately took our coffee orders. Our evening was made memorable and entertaining by Robert and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience because of our waiter.
