Very touchy and physically forward manager. Tried touching my private areas, offered free drinks to people he liked, offered illicit drugs to take with him to me and tried to spike my friends drinks -10/10 very uncomfortable experience. Would not recommend please be safe and stay away. The staff were new to the venue and beautiful, I hope they move on to a place that treats then better.

I had a fantastic time here in February of 2020. I was so excited to return with my friends recently. unfortunately when I arrived I was yelled at for trying to read through the song book as this is what was the common practice 2 years ago, a member of the bar staff aggressively snatched the book from my hands and told me they had been using an app for the last 3 years. I was unaware of this and tried to explain that I had been here less than two years ago he then belittled me and berated me about how wrong I was. I decided to leave with my group of friends as I felt ashamed and embarrassed. Reflecting on this experience I will never return and will advice friends against it.

Very cool. We dropped in to have a look on ANZAC day after late lunch only to meet some very interesting Karaoke participants. Fantastic night. Ended up staying into the wee hours.

What an absolute disaster of a venue. The basic plan of the place is to pay for a drink and suggest a song, but here's the catch: you are your mates will never have their songs played. In fact, they will delete your request as it comes up in queue if they don't like the song you chose (and payed for). If you don't want to pay for a 13 dollar drink and wait 4 hours for your song to never get played, or cancelled right in front of your eyes, stay clear of these scammers.

My friends and I went to the bar for karaoke for my friend's birthday. The bar owner/bouncer was too rude with us and didn't let us in citing they were over capacity which they were clearly not. This weirdo was very harsh with his words towards my mate and she ended up crying on her birthday.

The drinks are watered down and diluted. Basically paid $13 for a glass of ice water. Sound quality is terrible. What a waste of money

One of the security guards told me to "go back to my own country" and that "i don't belong here" after asking him to kick out a girl that pushed me around for "stealing" her song. weird how anti-immigrant the bouncers are when the entire bar staff are immigrants.

Not busy at lunch so its nice for lunch time getaway from the city bustle. Bopping music and great coffee to keep me awake for my studying.

Jankara is a lawless wasteland and is best enjoyed as such. Don't expect high quality sound systems, attentive audiences, or even a passing attempt at curating the experience. You are on your own in the Jankara jungle. Become the karaoke warrior you were always destined to be.

We’re here for a Bux night and the venue only gave us opportunity to sing a very small amount of songs. Very disappointing. Do not recommend. Caters for only a small amount of people at venue and doesn’t seem to care about majority.

I was did 3 shifts for security guard jobs last year and Sam which he send me to work with this bar , he is supplying security guards to this bar and he is from India , he is rubbishman and I was worked 20.5 hours and at the end I don’t get my payment from last year , the bar owner his name is Jay he doesn’t help me to get my payment , I think both of them they are cooperating together to stolen my money , that’s why I am not recommending for any security guards to work with those dodggy people and both of them they are from India.

The website describes this karaoke open bar as "your stereo-typical “movie like” open mic Japanese karaoke bar." I've obviously been watching the wrong movies... 🙃 If watching the same brawling, drunk people screaming twenty songs in a row (in the most disgusting surroundings) is your thing - Go for it. Otherwise, avoid at all costs. Singer or someone who likes to join in the fun - this isn't the place you're looking for. Oh, really bad bar service, too.

Came here with my friend and a party of 15. There was a miscommunication about who's song was next at one point of the night. My friend was physically assaulted over this miscommunication and the security staff did not eject the assailant, they instead told my friend to not make a scene. Even after footage of the assault was shown to them. Later on, after we advised staff that we did not feel safe in the venue anymore, we were told to leave. My friend is also American, at one stage she was told to 'go back to your own country' by the security. Used to be a really cool place, would not recommend going here in future.

Small place, great drinks but wasnt able to sing or try to sing with friends up on the stage due to some other group always getting the spotlight, didnt really enjoy my time there. It's like joining some other people's party that you're not even invited to. Not going there again.

Ripped off drink prices from what it said on the list!! But expensive in any case, but this place has gone downhill fast!! No professionalism as staff were meant to co-ordinate songs in order of people coming"first in best served"but that didn't happen & was waiting hours when others who came & went didn't have to & then people left when their songs came up. So disappointing. Especially when went 1 night & couldn't get in as there was a long queue & the place was full when security should've been there getting people out who'd been there longer so others can also have their turn without having to wait forever - not get in as they then shut.Need to have more recent songs in the books as they don't have many & haven't added newer songs into either.Other reviews about being dirty is too true!! The tiolets & sticky table if you lucky as other to es the floors &/or seats unclean too which when you're dressed up to go out & namely had a shower prior to isn't nice

went with eager friends to open mic karaoke! had a fab time, everyone enjoyed the singalong! it's a small venue that filled up fast with other fun loving xmas party groups who likemindedly had a ball! so much fun!!

Agree with some previous posts. This place could be much better. Definitely the acoustics, microphones and sound is very poor. Guys, please make an investment and upgrade the acoustics and song and I'll come back. It's really just a lot of droning noise

Do not go to this place , if I could give it a minus 10 I would , definitely with out doubt better places to go to . Firstly the 1 drink one song rule is a rort, so if you have 6 drinks you will be intoxicated, and will not be able to sing six songs. Also the manager said he is owner is extremely rude and insulting. Never ever ever again.

Atmosphere was great once it was full. Crowd really makes the place kick off when a good song is chosen. A bit tight for space, but either book a table or get there early

It’s one of the only open karaoke bars open, but they close early all the time. I was given trouble for preventing them going home at 11:30 PM, after being denied entry when they closed at 10 PM the week before. Location and bar staff are great, but the big guy (who brags about being there 12 years), makes it his mission to make you feel unwelcome. First visit he got verbally upset after we chose universal songs that all our international group could all enjoy, he took our drinks before finishing them, and shut the bar down early after we paid for more songs. He also denied the second microphone being broken, despite it clearly not working. The second night, he threatened me after adjusting the cables to avoid interference. Even after apologizing repeatedly (after fixing both cables), the guy still threatened to remove me for vandalism while saying my friends were faking it and lip syncing. THIS IS KARAOKE, LET THE PEOPLE SING HOW THEY WANT! However after two nights and many hours, this is the first time I saw two microphones working at once (you’re welcome). I even apologized to the square head once more and he just demonized me. Upon our group being escorted out at 11:30 for ruining his night by playing one more song, he still said I was welcome back, yet just gave me the finger and other sexual derogatory hand signals. Must avoid unless you’re desperate. This place would fall apart if it wasn’t for the innocent Japanese bartender who openly admits her work abuse! At least the breakfast is good, so my friend says..

The karaoke bar for people who don't like karaoke. Always a fun and supportive vibe - whether you're singing or not - and cheap drinks until late.

I adore this bar, it is a Melbourne institution. Harry and co. are inclusive and provide a very safe space for everyone. Some of the best memories of my life here 💗

An excellent dive bar experience. Bartender was a good sport. The system doesn't allow you to browse the song catalogue which is the only drawback so you need to know what you want to sing.

Waited two hours and never got a chance to sing. A number of people there got to sing five times or so each. We ended up all leaving after buying several drinks and just giving up on our songs ever coming up. The policy is but a drink get a song. Bought 4 drinks and didn’t get one.
