Just tried to order takeaway over the phone and to be honest was quite shocked with the rude and abrasive tone and attitude of the man who answered. I politely asked to order the calamari and the response was "we don't do calamari takeaway. Never have, never will". The tone that this man used to convey that information honestly shocked me quite a bit. I very much understand not having an item available for takeaway, however he could have relayed this information in a much more polite tone and said "I'm sorry but unfortunately we don't offer the calamari takeaway". I continued to order a pizza and asked to remove one item and add two and was again quite rudely told "we only make one change to the pizzas". I have no issues with the policies of restaurants and wasn't even aware that these policies existed as I've never ordered over the phone from Postino before, but as someone who also works in a local restaurant I couldn't imagine being so rude to a customer who's just trying to order some dinner and who is also supporting a local business - who by the way I never seem to see many customers sitting in! Perhaps this horrible 'customer service' is the reason why. It costs nothing to be kind. Reading through some of the other reviews it's evident that the owners attitude over the phone tonight was not a one off experience. 'Combative' is definitely a good term. In response to the owner: Your response here and to all the other reviews saying the same thing in regards to your bad attitude is just giving loser energy. Learn from your mistakes and take some constructive criticism on board. You've clearly missed the point of what I said and what all the other reviews have said about their experience. 'Not having the patience' for a paying and kind customer, suggests perhaps you're in the wrong industry. If you don't have the composure to treat people with kindness when you work in a customer service based industry then you clearly shouldn't own a restaurant. It that simple!

Soggy pizza , hair on it that wasn't ordered, pizza was only half sliced, asked for an espresso martini and some milky drink arrived and I was informed Kahlua had been swapped with baileys, chilli oil was oil with chilli, ridiculously hot, crab fettucini was under seasoned and way over spicy, making it flavour less

3.5 ⭐️ Really like the pizza and pasta here. We ordered the garlic and herb focaccia for the kids to munch on while we browse through the menu. We decided on the potato pizza with caramelised onions, hand made short pasta with seafood in soup, and some croquettes to share. The kids got bolognaise. The potato pizza and focaccia had beautiful crust. The handmade short pasta was nice and chewy, even kiddies liked it. The mussels were not as fresh as I hoped though. And hence the 0.5 off the four stars. The kiddies like the spaghetti bolognaise and one large portion was good for two kids to share. Otherwise they do have half portion for half price for kids, which I think it’s great cos they can try adult food instead of getting dodgey “kids meal”. I really wanted to try their lemon curd bomboloni but the kids were chucking a 💩 so we had to go :(.

Quality authentic, wood fired pizza and Italian fare. The owner chef is a smart operator who knows his product and truly cares about the food he serves, and giving the customer a great experience. People who have given this place a bad rap really need to give it another go!

The food at this restaurant was amazing and very well made as-well as the drinks. The customer service at the restaurant needs work as the owner was rude and made remarks from behind the counter regarding split payments. We had no notice of not being able to split the bill and only found out at the counter from the owner being aggressive and quick tempered. The owner then proceeded to say our group was blocking people from entering and exciting when not a single person was entering or leaving the shop. It is easy to see that the replies to anyone giving feedback or complaining are ignorant and are unable to see past how they are running a small business and how the customer seems to always be wrong. Surely if there are that many reviews commenting on the rudeness and attitude of this man they can’t all be wrong, certainly not from my experience anyway. Also a bit awkward that the staff had to apologise for the owners poor behaviour. Wish the service matched the food as it was really great.

I rarely write reviews unless I receive an exceptional experience because having a sook on the internet is less exciting than most other things in life. I went to this place for two reasons - it was recommended by a relative and all the negative reviews seemed like entitled clowns and made me laugh, so I wanted to see for myself. Service from the waiters was excellent, venue was clean, and the bolognese which comes with fettuccine but the restaurant allowed me to swap out for penne, tasted like a proper, homemade Italian dish with beautiful cheese on top. The Italian doughnuts with Nutella were also quite nice. I don’t know whom this ‘angry midget’ is, mentioned in all the other reviews here and I’d love to meet him, but my missus and I enjoyed this cosy restaurant with its cool little courtyard, and I’ll now be returning with my friends.

Best pizza in the area! Had a lovely night with my partner and the pizza was delicious, traditional wood-fired with super fresh quality toppings! Great service and dining area. My partner is a former chef and we both agree this place should be rated 5 stars. Colin’s pizzas are exceptional and this will now be our go-to local pizza place!

Love this place. I come here at least once a fortnight and get a great feed. Food is fresh and authentic, wines are well picked and reliable. Owner runs a tight ship, food quality is really important and works hard to ensure its consistent and delicious. Wait staff are excellent, just let them know what you feel like and they'll ensure you get a great line up of beautiful food.

I regularly get pizza here. Unfailingly good quality. Really nice bases. The prosciutto is sliced fresh at the counter for every pizza, which I haven't seen before. Recommended.

I ate at this place after moving to Melbourne having spent a number of years abroad. I was shocked to see it has such a low star review. I will not comment on the owner interactions as we had no issues, just ate, paid our bills, no issues. But let me talk about the pizzas… I’d spent time in Europe, the US and Asia, and I personally thought the pizza here was the best pizza I had ever eaten. Just my view. Would be back more often if not for the fact that 9yo prefer dominos… I don’t understand, but junk food is sweeter for the young palate. I judge this place by the pizzas coz I wanted a pizza… and I thought it was the best pizza I had eaten. My opinion only.

Was here with my participant today. Amazing customer service, awesome pizza and calamari. Easily one of the best calamaris I've had, a classic Italian style of Calamari fritti with super high quality squid. Thanks Postino team!

Haven’t been to Postino for a while. Takeaway last night; superb! In my opinion the best pizza around kew, Balwyn, deepdene. A nice little place to dine in, the courtyard is fantastic. The pizza is hands down the best. Absolute quality and well priced. The postino, capricciosa and Maria are favourites. Can’t go past the Italian donuts and in takeaway form even better with a generous serve Nutella. Bravo guys.

First time we have been there and fantastic service and food was great. We had starters and mains, calamari was the best I have had, it melted in my mouth. Also the wine we chose was very nice as well and complimented the food Thanks for a great experience Ian

Ordered pizza on Uber eats yesterday and…it was mouldy!!!Postino how could you allow this to happen?! In response to your comment…I am familiar with different types of cheeses but thanks for your advise. The only problem is is that unless you somehow put the cheese on the bottom of the pizza it was definitely a mold. In addition, it was on the other pizza with salami. I took a picture and more than happy to share it here (if only I could see this option). And instead of defending something that’s completely indefensible, not to mention dangerous, a good business practice is to take feedback on board and do better.

Pizza guy(the owner) is really rude, should be replaced Every 1 star review postino receive is also the same excuse not a patron. This shows that owner has really bad upselling/marketing skills/have a proper customer feedback system set up 1-10 etc. Also acknowledging the fact the shop has high traffic of incoming social abuse by non patron. Combative owner 👎

I went there to pickup an order they said it will take just 10 minutes but made me wait there for 1 hour. They have no importance of time. If it had to take that longer than just tell me directly don't make a misleading statement. Don't say 10 minutes if you don't mean it. Thanks

Food was delicious, however when we went to pay and split the bill a man was incredibly rude and scoffed in our faces. When we left he was gossiping liek a teenage girl all because we wanted to split the bill. Amazing food, terrible staff.

I had the Mario pizza and needless to say it was absolutely delicious. I have been coming here for 6 years and it’s high time I put in a review recognising the high-quality dishes at Postino.

I tried Postino for the first time and I was certainly not disappointed! Having lived in the area for a while I can't believe I had not been before. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, terrific, authentic food and very fast service. I will be coming back for another pizza very soon and can't recommend it enough!

A beautiful authentic Italian Pizza, very tasty with a nice fin pizza base with exceptional topping. We would recommend it to anyone. The buffalo mozzarella melted in your mouth and the pumpkin was sweet as. Just as great as the pizzas we ate in Italy 😀 Yummy!

I ordered Uber eats from this restaurant and it was less than impressive. The arancini was undercooked inside and also cold in the middle. The meatballs weren’t flavourful and the croquette was also not warm. Overall very disappointed.

I will say the food is okay but not outstanding, i can over look the small pasta portions and the burnt and blackened pizza base if everything else is perfect. As for the wines, well there is expensive over priced wine and a couple of wines at a reasonable price. We dined as a medium sized group and went with the set menu. We found the service was a bit slow and unhelpful and the set menu was not appropriate. I would recommend that you don't go with the set menu its not worth it for your bucks. You are better to go with an with a la carte service and choose the food to your own liking. They just dump food on your table tell you what each plate is and then disappear. No consultation with the guests as to what pasta or risotto we would prefer. The pizza size served was a medium sized pizza and was just not enough for a table of hungry adults. The desert was okay and the small cannoli was tasty although the plate was stacked with Italian donuts that looked and tasted like yesterdays left over pizza dough fried up the day before. The food was barely enough to feed our group we had to stop on the way home at another pizza restaurant and order a takeaway pizza. I can see why they don't permit BYO and push the set menu. I give this venue two stars. There are better Italian Woodfired pizza restaurants around if you are prepared to travel another 2, 3 or 4 Km and they all welcome BYO wine. I hope this provides some constructive feedback as i did read the negative reviews along with the positive reviews before i came. i did also read the owners responses to anyone giving a low score claiming its a fake review, despite the owners defensive position to any negative review or criticism i gave it a go. I can say the restaurant functions as it should and serves acceptable tasting Italian food. Will I be back, hmmmmm maybe. maybe not.

My friends and I attended our bi-yearly dinner at 7:30pm at Postino tonight. Our waiter was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after. However, our visit was quickly soured when the owner of the restaurant began yelling at this same waiter (something about allowing us to order both focaccias for entree and pizzas for mains because it was “too late” despite taking our 7:30pm booking - note they close at 9pm). If this was an issue, either tell us at the time of the booking or at the very least let us know when we arrived that we needed to put our order in by a certain time. It was extremely uncomfortable to witness a waiter being verbally abused for simply taking our order and then further witness the owner then making snide remarks about them to another person in the kitchen. Safe to say we will not be holding our bi-yearly dinners at Postino anymore. We all agreed that we do not want to be putting money into a business owned by someone who treats their employees so awfully.
