Pretty nice place to go get a feed with friends, I got food at the sports bar and the lady was fantastic, Parma was pretty good. Nice spacious hotel with pokies there aswell.

Love the new terrace and the atmosphere of the place in general. The prices are a little on the high side but not too bad. There are lots of different sections so something for everyone. The staff are just always a bit rude and make it seem like it's an inconvenience to take your drink order which can make your feel a little unwelcome. Overall a pretty good place

21/6/22 No refund or credit forthcoming. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! EDIT : One would think this would have refunded on the spot, even after speaking to Rosa Roberts (senior manager) the venue so far has not refunded the meal. Not good enough. We ordered our food at 1257. After receiving olives and rather ordinary herb bread quite quickly, we waited and waited for our mains. At the one hour point with still no meal (1357) I spoke to your manager, David. He became argumentative and was rattling off excuses. To David's credit he did offer a free round of drinks to the table which we accepted. The food came out after waiting just over one hour. The meal that I ordered was baby veal, which you expect to be very tender. It was extremely chewy and as you can see from the photo, burnt. The other two meals were below the quality I would expect at your price point. Very disappointing!

Really really good pub food! Portions were generous, and the quality of the cooking was seriously good. Went with a party of 8, and they sat us in a really quiet corner when we requested a quieter spot. Service was excellent, with entrees coming out very promptly and no mistakes for quite a large order. Very cool and comfortable on a hot day too. Kudos to the Old E, we’ll be back!!

This is one of our local pubs in the area and we've had meals and attended functions here many times over the years. The old Hotel building looks interesting but I've never been in there, only the newer Bistro building on the Southern side of the building. Pleasant RSL style Decor, nothing fancy, but it does have a warm ambiance. Menu is modern pub grub nicely plated with reasonable prices. You order at the kitchen, drinks from the bar, and food is delivered to the table. Staff are friendly and helpful. All the standards are there, Parma, steaks, pastas, roasts etc, with an interesting sprinkle of other dishes, all presented with a bit of flair. Decent specials board as well with quite a few choices. Dedicated off street parking in several areas around the buildings......but it can be full on busy days.

Came here in July. Was pretty nice. Staff seemed friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Pretty busy inside. I ordered the pasta, which was pretty bland and tasteless. However I tried some of the fish and chips which was great, so I should've order that. Everyone seemed happy with their meals. Perhaps a bit pricey for tasteless pasta, but overall not too bad. I think its a nice spot for the older generation :)

This pub is a pleasant surprise. The service was really good, attentive and quick considering we had a big group. The lamb in the lamb salad was cooked perfectly though I expected a bit more salad on the plate and less meat but it was not a bad thing. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. The rib eye especially was a stand out. The creme brulee was creamy and tasty, just perfect. Sadly the cannoli was not great, the ricotta cream was quite sour so that was a bit of a letdown. Overall we had a great experience and would go back here again.

Been here several times. Beautiful decor. The place is attentively maintained. The food dishes are high end pub style, a very diverse menu and food portions. Only feedback- the staff really can be at times rigid in accommodating customers. At times they are very good, then other times not so much. Depends on who you get and how proactive and courteous they are.

They have a prawn promo on right now, prawns done a heap of different ways. So good! Yum 😋 But one thing guys.....your pool table cost of $4 per game is outrageous...most expensive pool table I've seen in my life, now I know why noone was playing on either table. Can I give you some advice...$4 per game, we had a scooner of draught each. Then left as that price is wrong....Whereas if it was $2, we would in average play 4-5 games and like 8 scooners would have been purchased. Instead we only bought the 2. Do the math, is it really worth charging $4 per game? Or maybe you're trying to curve drinking, which makes no sense when you're a publican?? 😜

I like being pleasantly surprised when dining out and this was more than pleasant. The Old England's food was excellent from entree thru to dessert. (The Parma was magnificent) The staff were friendly and accommodating. The building itself is a classic with plenty of history - check out the photos in the entrance. I highly recommend this place and hope to make another visit soon.

Pity theres no entertainment live music and such but not many pubs do anymore it's just all gambling and eating and drinking not social like in the past. Someone needs to get the pubs rocking till early hours of the morning partying all nite and having so much fun with the locals dancing drinking talking socialising. But it does serve fantastic food and is a very nice place with lovely staff I just miss the good old days and I'm not old at 36 Bur the world has gone downhill since my teenage years

Not the best place for young crowd to visit. The food is extremely expensive. The salad with some noodles will cost around 29.90 AUD and chips with calamari will cost around 24AUD. I wouldn't have really mind spending so much if the food was extra ordinary. The food is very oily and I think the calamari wasn't even fried properly. The food had no taste to it, simply no flavors to fancy your taste buds. The place it self had so much grey or negative atmosphere where you feel like trapped inside a dome. Staff were helpful but defensively not friendly and welcoming. To be honest i couldn't wait to go out from that place. Will never visit this place again.

The food was beautiful. I love the old building it's such a nice place, I love the bluestone room with the couches and chairs. It's a great section to chill and have a few quiet drinks and chat with mates.

I really enjoyed the food, it had really good flavour and was very fresh and present nicely. The place is very cozy and feels like old England house specially with the carpets. Overall I enjoyed my time in there.

I loved this place, used to come here often for the unlimited free dinner rolls that came complimentry when dinning. Came here for my birthday 4 days ago and was bitterly disappointed discovering they no longer do dinner rolls. They ran out of garlic bread so bread of any kind was not an option. Worst of all they had a smaller menu. Thier meals are overpriced and not to any memerable standard so without the rolls its not viable for me to enjoy dinning here. Compliments to the facility itself is very nice!! My 2 star review is in the hope they read this and decide to bring back the rolls. Otherwise i sadly wont be returning.

For $46 I ordered a medium rare steak. As I ate into the centre of the steak it was blue. And not seasoned. The spinach was strange and the potatoes soggy. I know times are tough but for that price, no thanks.

Great meal. Polenta chips were delicious. Decent serving sizes. For main I got the grilled flake which was cooked nicely. Plus they happily swapped out the chips for vegetables for me. Good for a meal with family and/or friends. Nice big bistro with lots of seating too.

I don't mind paying good money for good food but this place is seriously over priced for the quality they serve. If I am paying $45 for steak I would expect it to be cooked perfectly. Based on past experience, I ordered rare expecting it to be served medium/rare (how I liked it) but it once again arrived medium, almost well done. Other meals bland and tasteless. We only keep coming back because its a day out from the nursing home for my mother. She remembers it from her heydays

I have been coming to the last Old England for years! Literally since I was old enough to get in. It’s changed a bit since the days of the Hunt Club back bar. Now it’s pokies and more sedate than before. But it has retained its charm as a nice pub to have a meal with family and friends. It’s a good local and I’m glad you can still have a parma and pint 🍺 on a Friday.

Have been in here, and taste hasn’t changed much, which is good. Have always ordered the Roast pork loin which has been cooked nicely. But also tried the beef ribs this trio and they were really nice. Meat was nicely cooked and great flavours

Just got back from lunch with Mrs Grant she had the scallop pie, me the porterhouse steak with their signature thick cut chips . I was too busy eating and washing my food down with debortoli Shiraz to pay much attention to my wife. It was good and the staff were well dressed, polite and reasonable knowledgeable. Later on Mrs Grant informed me hers was good too. One day I might do a review just on their thick cut chips which I would describe as perfect. Anyway I would therefore recommend The Old England Hotel to anyone looking for a good meal and drinks

Pleasant atmosphere and surroundings. Professional staff and good service. People are smartly dressed. Good parking. High food standards and quality. A broad menu. Prices are $29 and upwards on menu. An upmarket hotel. May need to book early. Always busy.

The atmosphere is nice. Service to get a table was a bit slow. Self order food and drinks. The fish stick tasted funny - despite being deep fried (Seafood Platter). The ribs were delicious, the meat would just fall off the bone and the sauce was exceptional.

A pleasant door greeting was a great way to start the evening. Such a beautiful venue, and peaceful atmosphere for a family birthday dinner. The staff were lovely, the food was perfectly cooked (steaks MR to perfection), and the wine was wonderful too (taking the mickey, recommended).

Never going there ever again! After going 2 weeks ago on the 2nd of February with my partner for dinner. We ordered the oysters and it made us feel very sick that night and the next day. It was an awful experience and have told family/friends not to go there.

  • 3/5 IridiumRose 2 years ago on Google
Food quality is reliably good and the staff are great. The bar is reasonable with a few craft beers available, including one on tap. It's a well presented venue that should consistently deliver a good experience to a wide audience.

We had a beautiful dining experience here recently. With 11 of us dining we were impressed that all our meals came out at the same time allowing us to eat together. Each person was extremely satisfied with their meal & not a drop of food was left on the plate! Meal presentation was beautiful, portions were generous & flavor was perfect! Look forward to returning!

Had dinner here this evening. The chicken parm and fish and chips were pretty good. The only downside was that no condiments were given to enhance the dining pleasure. Ambience and service were also good. A nice place to relax for the evening. A nice chill out place

Cannot fathom why this place was packed to the rafters it was dark and dingy and despite Christmas cheer in the form of many sparkly decorations there was still no atmosphere. I didn’t think it was possibly to not enjoy a parma but this was underwhelming both visually and taste wise. The menu did have quite a variety of dishes but I thought a parma was a safe bet in a pub. It was just about the most minute serving of a parma I’ve ever experienced. The plate was literally half empty. Sampling my mothers beef salad I realised she didn’t fare much better as it was incredibly dry. Wouldn’t return

Have visited here several times, lots of parking available outside and located next door to a KFC and Woolworths. Staff are friendly, they have a giant dining room section, next to the pokies, and an E-bar/ sports bar and rooftop terrace. There is a drive through bottle shop below. The food is pricey, and lots of choices to choose from. Each table has a QR code for service and ordering food and drinks without speaking to a wait staff.

My medium rare eye fillet was over cooked, red wine jus was too watery, and hand cut chips weren't crispy. But service was great, staff is very friendly. Might try again with other dishes.

We had a lovely experience for lunch today. The service was very friendly. The atmosphere was comfortable as tables were not placed too close together. The food was fresh and delicious. The roast of the day had nicely seasoned veggies and the lamb was very tender. We will definitely be coming back.

We and our friends chose the share plate menu at lunch and the dishes we we had were all terrible, unpalatable. Never again. Do better, OE. We were outside on the terrace which was nice but trance music playing was too loud and unsuitable for a lunch venue.

The best hotel! The food is exceptional, and such good value. Local produce, delicious and variety. The takeaway options such great value. The chicken satay and slaw superb like a main course. The staff and team so friendly, and professional. Absolute credit to everyone and the owners.

Visited for the first time in several years. The food quality and service have vastly improved. For starters I had oysters Kilpatrick and the wife had lobster bisque. Both dishes fresh and tasty. For mains, I had an eye fillet with mushroom sauce, chips and a porcini mushroom. Came out perfectly cooked. Wife had lobster French style with mushrooms and truffles and she loved it. Only negative is the lack of bread rolls with butter. Fine, it is no longer on a common table to help yourself, but why can't they be brought by wait staff on request? Really needed for our entrees and was lacking. Seems to be an unnecessary cost cutting exercise.l

The decor and staff were great. The food I had was very overpriced for a veggie salad that consisted of asparagus, beans, beetroot, potato, pumpkin and Pepita seeds. Toss in some rocket and that was a few bucks short of $30. I'd return for drinks but forget the food.
