The West Beach Bathers Pavilion was originally one of three open sea bathing pavilions with change rooms constructed in the 1920s. By the 1960s it was decommissioned and left in disrepair as a candidate for demolition. It was saved from demolition in 2009 and turned into the beach style tearoom, bar and function venue that it is today. *** Pros *** The location is great, picture perfect in fact, with great views over the water. It's cosy and they do light the wood fire inside in winter. It's also very dog friendly. *** Cons *** The prices leave a lot to be desired and the service is just average. There's no table service! You pay when ordering at the counter and need to return to the two separate counters to pickup your food and drink! Sad really sad as this would be the perfect venue for more regular lunch and coffee visits.

Nice snack food to have with cocktail in the beach. Make sure to reserve a table in advance on the weekend though as it can get busy and the staff will ask you to move to a different table if they need your table. I found this quite confronting to be asked twice to move tables today.

Stopped by the West Beach Pav after a swim and loved the atmosphere and outdoor seating on a warm day. Loved the QR code ordering until the waiters kept messing up orders all around us, resulting in delayed recalls. Completely understand it was busy but if there are table numbers with the order, there should be a better system. We waited over forty minutes for a plate of scones which was a shame because they were great–very fluffy and generous cream and jam serving.

West Beach Pavilion offers a culinary delight with its top-notch steak and delectable menu offerings. The outdoor dining area provides the perfect setting to savour your meal while enjoying the breathtaking view of the beach. While more menu options would be appreciated, the overall experience of dining by the beachside is truly memorable. Perfect for those seeking a delicious meal with a side of seaside charm.

What a beautiful location in space this beachside restaurant has. I had the pleasure of attending my best friends 40th here last week and given the weather was absolutely freezing outside, the sunset in the courtyard of the restaurant was a lot more easy on the eyes. The food was beautiful. I enjoyed a watermelon and mint salad and I ordered some grilled chicken on the side. I also enjoyed a Hemsworth cocktail which was super fruity and citrus and a great pair up for that meal. The dinner menu is very summary and I'm assuming seasonal, the only downside is, it is small for main meals so there isn't a great deal of a variety, and it is quite expensive. Nevertheless it was still a beautiful night, and I endeavour to come back when the weather is better and enjoy. What would've been a beach party that night.

We ordered: 🍴The Pavilion Bowl 🍴Margherita pizza 🍴Chips Enjoyed today’s sunny afternoon on the beach🏖️ Decent food, on the pricey side given the location, but nevertheless worth coming back whenever the sun is out. Finn bites dining experience ⭐️ 4/5 💵 $$

Restaurant in St Kilda West, next to the beach. Dining with the beach view - pretty nice and chill. We came here for our friend wedding in late January. As a wedding revenue, its not the best place especially for summer time as too hot and humid with no air con (very surprised) and just couple of ceiling fans which are really under power. I saw that they have heaters there so maybe a bit better during winter time but not sure. Lights are a bit dim. It can get quite dark at night. The food is so so. You can check the food and drink menu that we had. We had finger food first which were ok. The entree with squid and pork belly were pretty ok. Mains were steak and salmon were just average. Good options for drinks though. Bonus point is the services are very good. The staffs were friendly and attentive, always asking if we want any other drinks and very quick with all the requests - best thing about West Beach Pavilion The audio system here is not so good especially with the microphone - low volume and has lots of echo. Dance floor is average size for small wedding. Venue is for around 60 guests. No parking on the venue, street parking available on main road but pretty busy all the time as its St Kilda beach on weekend. You probably need to find side street parking. Overall, just so so, mixed experience for wedding venue.

Location wise its great. A great stopover after cycling for 10 km to grab breaky 😀 I really like their green smoothie and the big breakfast 🍳 Dont expect too much on service as its pretty bad. You have to order at the counter, pick up the food from the grill yourself when its ready (you are given sth that buzz when food is ready, just like at restaurant in a mall) . I felt like i was the one working there . But i didn’t let the service ruin my day . Nonetheless, its still quite shocking though that the provide such poor service at such a great location.

A beautiful restaurant located on the shores of Port Phillip. The Menu is restricted to a few dishes, however the food is served quickly and is tasty. The only disadvantage is that there is no waited service, which can cause of a problem. For us we ordered Beach bites as a starters and main meals. With a waiter we would receive the starters first then mains, however with the electronic ordering service we received both portions at once. Next we will know to order twice to avoid the problem, otherwise it's a good restaurant.

Great location with ideal outside seating for families with dogs. Great in the Spring/Summer. Food is good (albeit a little pricey). Staff are friendly and bring out water for dogs if needed. Queues can be particularly long with long wait times for food, but this is more a reflection on the venue and busy weekends. Would recommend when stopping in the area when taking the dogs for a beach walk. Great for a few drinks too.

Thank you to West Beach for making my wedding reception a dream come true. The beach hall was great to host a relaxed dinner with a beautiful view. The team were very friendly and accommodating, even when it rained on the day and we had cocktail hour outside. They provided my guests with dry cushions or inside alternatives. The food was delicious - zucchini flowers entrees and lamb for mains were our guests favourite! The servers gave the Bride and groom extra attention, ensuring we had food and drinks all night! Lifesavers! Specially shout out to Andrea for being super responsive in answering all my questions, and Claudia for being a superstar host on the night. Many thanks to all at West Beach for your hard work! Highly recommend!!

We could not have been happier with our wedding at West Beach Pavillion and all our guests agreed. From the moment we met Andrea - we knew we would love the day. All all our requests were accommodated with a smile. The team were so friendly and excited for our wedding. The day went without a hitch and the food and service was incredible. Highly recommend- they even turned on the sun for us in July, the team are that good! Thank you all.

5 stars for the location and some of their amazing caring staff working there (Sun and Ben were particularly nice with us), but only 4 stars overall due the lack of organisation and details making the experience slightly disappointing. Having only two doggy bowls for such a big place, is a bit frustrating.

Stunning cocktails. I love the staff there. They are very kind and welcome. Great location next to the beach. There is no age limit and the visitors are various types of people such as young people, families and elderly people and it’s also a pet-friendly. This is one of my favorite places in St. Kilda and is a place I always visit when catching up with friends around the area.

Service here is phenomenal!! So friendly and kind. No exaggeration, Ben makes he most delicious ice tea I've ever tasted. I don't know how he does it, it's a masterpiece of flavours. So refreshing, and the perfect summer drink. Please make this a permanent addition to the menu! Can't wait to come back for more!

Highly recommend for an afternoon drink/lunch, dinner, meetups, date, wedding, birthday parties etc. This place is divine, the best magical place to watch the sun set over the sea....Epic!!. The restaurant is set on clean white sand beach, a well thought of setup with summer daybeds to relax on, summer outdoor seats, netball nets for alittle play, there's no border between the restaurant and the sea, just enjoy the sea breeze, watch the tides, good vibe only!! I You'd think for a moment, you are in Acapulco Bay in Mexico lol... Beautiful & relaxing!! Drinks took long to get to the table, however when they arrived, it was worth the wait (best cocktails I've had in a while). Friendly fun service team. Pizzas are stone cooked, therefore well favoured and yummy. They have massive indoor space, open to the sea, incase mother nature decides to open the water floodgates upthere lol. Loved it and highly recommend it!!!

Great kiosk/cafe/restaurant right on the beach. Prices were what you would expect for the area. Menu is limited however the food was extremely tasty and the view and atmosphere were beautiful. Great place to stop for a drink or a meal

Sooooo not covid safe. QR code at one entry only, nobody using it, distancing not enforced, multiple customers not wearing masks, staff not wearing masks properly / at all. Do better. I’m immunocompromised - way to make a human feel unwelcome and anxious.

When two coffees cost $13.80 for a "large" when the cup is the size of a medium everywhere else, you expect them to taste good. But when your "flat white" that comes out as a cappuccino and tastes like burnt milk, it's not nice! Definitely avoiding this place from now on.

Went for a casual lunch and was not let down. All COVID practices in place. Menu ordering either by counter or by app at the table. Waitress was very pleasant and looked after us well. A great place to seaside dine away from the bigger crowds of St Kilda. Also does weddings and events.

I think this place is in a great location. Sitting near the beach you can easily enjoy a coffee or brunch with your friends. Completly dog friendly. However, improvements are needed. The food is a bit expensive for the kind of service you receive. You have to order and pick up the food at the front. Tables stay dirty for a while as no much personal is available to clean them.

Good spot on the beach but $25 for a depressingly bad pizza that they didn't even put basil on when it was just cheese and basil and needed to be returned. Eat somewhere else and then maybe come here for drinks

I was a guest at a birthday party yesterday and brought along a cake for the birthday girl. When I arrived, a waiter offered to put it in the fridge for me which i gladly accepted as it was quite hot. When i asked for the cake back 2 hours later, i was told i would need to pay a cake charge. I understand places do this and even though I was not informed at the beginning, I was happy to pay it. Until I went to the till and was told the cake charge was $45! I could not believe you can justify charging that much to hold a cake in the fridge especially when no one had told me before hand. The waitress serving me told me it was in the booking details but I had not made the booking. I think this is absolutely extortionate especially when we had already paid $500 for 2 cabanas. On top of this, the service was really slow. My partner and I had also ordered a pint of beer and glass of wine at the bar and i was given a red instead of a white and the beer was half full, we had to ask for it to be topped up. When i got the correct wine it was way below the pour line but i couldn’t be bothered to go back again. The round cost us $31 which is expensive anyway. The table also waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine and some other drinks so had to go and chase them up. Overall, this place could be really nice but it is so so overpriced and the cake charge was just crazy. I wont be rushing back and wouldn’t want anyone else to waste their money.

We recently got married at West Beach Pavilion on the 28 December 2023. From the get go we were in contact with Andrea, who was amazing at coordinating and managing our event. We're happy of how well planed the staff were at setting up for our wedding. There was nothing too tricky to do with Andrea, every request, she was more than happy to make it work for us. Very caring staff. Head chef Sudeep, cooked us an amazing banquet of Australia/ Sri Lankan dishes (as per our requests). He was happy to cater for our needs for the wedding. And the food was absolutely amazing. All our guest didn't stop talking about how wonderful the food was and how much there was. I highly recommend this venue, it's hidden away on St Kilda West Beach, its the most beautiful spot. We couldn't of imagined getting married anywhere else, we just loved every moment of having our ceremony on the beach and reception at West Beach Pavilion. Thank you again for the most unforgettable day

Food and drinks are very tasty, but drinks are really poor on alcohol, every drink including "better than long island" is like virgin. Ordering through QR code is ok but on our 2nd visit we had to go ordering on the bar becouse we didn't see food on the QR menu.. Waiter told us that it can happend sometimes. Atmosphere is very nice.

We contacted the West Beach Pavilion about hosting a small 20 person private breakfast function following an exclusive bike ride with celebrity professional bike riders. Right from the first contact the team were extremely helpful and responsive. The venue itself was perfect, with our private space overlooking the sand and across to the water and boats. The staff on the day were fantastic and the food delicious. We would highly recommend the venue as a great place for a function or family get together. Well done to the West Beach Pavilion team.

This restaurant is in a nice location on the St Kilda beachfront. The view of the surrounding beach and sea can be seen throughout the restaurant due to its many large windows. There is also a large outdoor area for drinks and dining to enjoy sunny, picturesque days. It is a little difficult to get here. There are a lot of parking restrictions if taking a car, and public transport options are limited. The train station requires quite a walk of more than 20 minutes each way through busy roads and intersections. There are a couple of tram routes, the city route arrives about 500 metres from the restaurant but could be better signed as it is amongst large buildings and parkland which I found disorienting when I first arrived. The restaurant is also over a busy highway-like road, so care is required when crossing. I came for a function and had canapes rather than menu items. They were varied and tasty, such as fresh scallops, chicken satays and lightly battered mini fish and chips. The drink options were also limited for the function, but the house cider and beer were refreshing. The bar looked like it had a variety of drinks- spirits and wines, for the actual restaurant. The function floor was a little cramped for the number of people, but that would have been reduced if the weather had been better for the outside area. The prices looked quite expensive. I didn't pay anything for the function, but I would need to be impressed if I were to pay for a restaurant meal for the prices charged here.

We hosted a private event at West Beach Pavilion. Our event coordinator was Andrea, and we could not have had a better representative from the venue. She was always available for questions, and always answered with a smile. She made sure that on the day the event went smoothly, and all our requirements and requests were met. The venue looked even more beautiful than we had imagined it would. A notable mention goes to the fact that they had matched the weekly flowers to our colour theme - this made a big difference to the functions vibe

We are a bit disappointed. We called the day earlier to check what time breakfast finishes and were told as long as we get our order in before 12 it will be fine. So we made the hour drive to come check it out. We went to put our order in at 11.45am and were told we couldn't because breakfast is now finished. Really unfortunate. The staff were lovely, its none of their fault. Beautiful location. But yeah....

We came in for our taste testing for our upcoming wedding in March, we were so happy & content with the food provided. We had a selection of appetisers, pork belly, calamari and octopus for entree followed by sirloin steak, lamb & salmon for mains along with artisan bread, chat potatoes and green beans. Everything was perfect to our liking but what stood out to us the most was the service from all the staff. They made our day so enjoyable. Special mention to our events coordinator Andrea who has been amazing to date, minor hiccup at the very start to our wedding planning but she’s been so professional and fixed all our concerns with great communication. Also, special mention to Tim who was so knowledgeable and helped us in deciding on our food for our set menu. Lastly thank you to head chef Sudeep who’s culinary skills & presentation are second to none. (Chef kiss) Thanks so much team! We can’t wait for our wedding at West Beach!

We had the most incredible time and experience at West Beach Bathers recently for my birthday celebrations. The service and communication prior was incredible and and the guest portal makes for a seamless planning experience. The friendly and attentive staff took amazing care of me and our guests on the day. Nothing was too much to ask and everyone has complimented highly on the venue, food and service. I only have positive reviews for everyone involved at the West Beach Bathers and their team. I can highly recommend this venue for the amazing service, view and experience.

Booked a sunlounger for myself and my husband, had a great night. Service was friendly food was great loved the octopus. Will be looking at coming back with a bigger group and booking a cabana. Can get a bit hot in the lounges because of direct sun would recommend bringing towels for extra shade. Love the QR ordering makes life so easy

I photographed my first wedding here on the weekend and I was blown away. The food, the drinks, the VIEW! Everything was simply stunning. What a great team running the whole day behind the scenes too, made me feel very welcome.

Managed to get a cabana for sunset and caught this awesome view. Drinks are reasonable priced especially the jugs of spritz and beer. Some of the mains I would rate as expensive ($38 for fish and chips feels a bit steep to me) however we ordered a cheese board and nachos to share. They were tasty and a decent size and price. Highly recommended that you book a beach front area as there was only one available when we went on Sunday

I had two old friends drive me to this exotic hideaway while visiting my home town of Melbourne. It was a sunny afternoon, and we seemed to end up here in West St Kilda beach, and there was plenty of parking. As I sprawled on the painted swing and they lounged on deck chairs I thought I was on the Lido in Venice! We ordered coffee and cake from the friendly, handsome young waiter and I thought I'd gone to heaven as I lounged lazily in the sun. There is also a huge expanse of raked sand in front of the pavillion, so sunbathing is de rigeur.

Amazing location, right next to the dog beach so convenient for pooch owners and their Hemsworth cocktail is so addictive that we can't leave without having at least two of them ;) service is great but at times slow given the popularity so prepare yourself for slight delays on busy days...

Frantically busy on this gorgeous sunny Cup day but the staff have been doing their best to give good service. There was an error with our order, we received Margarita drinks instead of pizzas but the counter staff fixed the issue straight away. Good job guys!
