Gorgeous, informative exhibit for all ages. We spent hours here perusing the collection, everything is kept in wonderful condition. Lots of kids running around which is great to see — I’m glad that families are coming here to learn about different aspects of the world and its history. Perfect place to bring any person who loves their science.

This is one of my favourite places to go with kids. Always so much things to learn and explore. The children's gallery is always a must. Kids love it. The triceratops exhibition is amazing. Everything is so well made and displayed.

The Melbourne museum is next to the exhibition building and very easy to reach by public transport. Tram 86 or 96 😀 . The museum currently has the Titanic expo which is super interesting and well worth a visit. An adult ticket is $ 32 and you can book online.

COVID Vaccine 24/09/21 Relocated from the Royal Exhibition Building, the vaccination clinic is now in the Melbourne Museum. The staff are all so friendly and for the huge operation they are running seem very well organized. The Melbourne Museum doesn’t seem to have the same capacity as the Exhibition Building, at least from public access viewpoint, but I think it was also a bit busier for my second dose compared to the first. Still, it took less than hour from parking to out the door including the 15 minute mandatory waiting after the injection. Had to stand in line for quite some time before the waiting seats. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work and to everyone getting vaccinated and doing their part to minimize the impact where possible!

Really cool experience overall with lots of things to see and do! Different displays and detailed explanations to match the work on display. Great activity for any age and is an overall great learning experience. I didn't go myself, but the Cafe seemed a little over priced for the products, but other than that, I had a really great time!

I took my 5 year old brother to the Melbourne Museum and he loved it! Just as I remembered as a little kid, there are so many things to see and interact with. We went specifically to see the Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs exhibition. It was really cool and was a great hit with my brother who loves dinosaurs. He also especially loved the insect and bugs section which had all kinds of creepy crawlys. But even if you’re not a fan of bugs there’s still something for everyone. Personally my favourite section is the Australian history room - especially the history relating to Melbourne. We have a museum membership so we were able to visit the museum for free, including the triceratops exhibition. I think if you have kids and they enjoy the museum it is definitely worth considering purchasing a membership. You even get discounts at the gift shop and cheaper parking too. The museum was clean, had friendly and welcoming staff and overall we had a great time.

A great way to spend a day exploring. Highly recommend it. I wish the exhibits were more written with adults in mind (more detailed language, as currently most of it is written for children) however I found the experience very enjoyable. The short haired lady working at the ticket booth was a delight.

Explore the amazing museum, where each exhibit unravels captivating discoveries. Delve into the depths of geological history, immersing yourself in a rich tapestry of knowledge that transports you back to the era of ancient animals and insects. It's a truly enriching experience for curious minds.

Came and saw the Treasures of the Natural World exhibition. It was a great exhibition with lots to look at and examine. Would recommend it for anyone interested in biology/history. The museum staff who greeted us at the entrance were very friendly and explained everything to us. The reason I have rated it four stars rather than five is because of the exhibition being slightly over-crowded/busy. Sometimes you wouldn’t get the chance to read a piece on one of the historical items due to many people surrounding the space. Additionally, when leaving the exhibition via the gift shop we were told to wait until some people left the gift store (only a maximum of 12 people could be in there I believe) if we wanted to buy anything, however inside the exhibition there were much more people crowded into tight corners than a spacious gift shop. Not really consistent on the COVID-safe management there. Apart from that, I enjoyed the exhibition.

Melbourne Museum is located in the picturesque Carlton Gardens next to Royal Exhibition building. You can easily spend few hours to even a day if you love museums. There is lots to see and do at the Museum including Melbourne’s history and how the city developed into sprawling Metropolis post the gold rush in 1850’s onwards. Also check out the Aboriginal cultural centre for the learning about the traditional owners of the land. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Melbourne city.

This was a fantastic place to go to on our day off. On a week day (not school holidays), it is pretty quiet. There were a few school groups around but they left by around 2pm. Lots to see at the museum, we only saw the main part (not the extra exhibitions), but there were 4 sections. My favourite was the marine section, and biology area. You could easily spend a whole day here. I also visited the cafe, and ordered the fish and chips, and the vegetarian burger. This is where I can only give 4 stars. The fish was quite dry. And the salad had far too much vinegar dressing. The burger was quite good, better than expected. The chips were great though! For the price, it was pretty good (apart from the dry fish). Around $15 for each meal. The coffee was good. No complaints, but nothing special. Ordered it extra hot and came at the perfect temperature (coffee is preferred on the hotter side). Would definitely come here again, but personally, I would pack my own lunch.

The Melbourne Museum is a wonderful exhibit of many beautiful artefacts and historical knowledge. I went mainly for the LEGO exhibit but enjoyed an additional pleasant adventure around the museum. My only gripe is that it’s not a very accessible location in wet weather. It’s at least a 5min walk from any public transport through open spaces. I arrived at the museum thoroughly drenched.

Great place to disappear for hours. So many areas with really interesting and well put together collections. I've added a picture of the lockers which are not mentioned anywhere on the website and are a must for travellers as we were. They are free and have various sizes perfect for on the way to or from airport with luggage. Reasonable entry price and the cafe had heaps of food selections again well priced.

I went there to check out the Lego Relics exhibition, featuring astonishing displays that are truly worth a visit. It demonstrates how Lego worlds thrive and blossom when humans no longer exist, set in the year 2530. Each world has its own story and features a challenging scavenger hunt, making the entire exhibition more immersive. It's absolutely worth the money; I spent over 2 hours completing the hunt and searching for all the treasure eggs. The museum itself also has a wide variety of collections, ranging from stunning triceratops and other dinosaur fossils, rare mineralogy crystals, exquisite miniatures, Melbourne's historical recordings, to living insects.

This is an enormous museum featuring exhibits on the natural sciences and history of Melbourne. They also offer special exhibitions like the current Titanic exhibition (not included in general admission). We had a very limited time, so focused on the dinosaurs and the history of Melbourne but there is much more to see and hands on activities for the littles. I would recommend allocating the whole day to take it all in. Advance tickets are the way to go, same day ticket lines are long. There’s a parking garage but public transit is more affordable. Highly recommend planning your visit in advance to make the most of your visit and ensure you’re able to get into any special exhibits.

A spacious and well appointed museum with a load to see. Great for kids and adults. A mix of new and old. An easy way to pass a few hours considering the history of everything - people, animals, the planet, Melbourne city. And there are temporary exhibits and an IMax too. Located is a fabulous parkland in the heart of the city - right next to the iconic Exhibition Building.

Had the most wonderful visit to the Melbourne Museum. The collection is just amazing, I could spend hours here. Friendly staff, nice coffee bar and museum shop. The only downside was that one section was closed for the development of a new (very exciting) exhibition - ah well great excuse to visit again in June. Definitely recommended for all ages. If only Sydney had a museum like this I would visit every week.

This museum is huge and has so many interesting exhibits to explore, from exhibits about dinosaurs, to animals & nature, to planet earth, to media & arts, to Aboriginal culture and MORE. You could probably spend almost a whole day here. I can't fit my whole experience into a Google review, but here are some of my highlights: 🔸️ Today was 'Dress as a Dinosaur Day', so there were so many kids dressed up in the cutest dino costumes!!! My favourite was a kid's who made their costume out of cardboard. 🔸️ The dinosaur bones displays gave off "Night in the Museum" vibes. Very cool. 🔸️ There were several enclosures containing live insects, amphibians and water creatures. It was so fun watching them move around! 🔸️ The videos about endangered animals and conservation efforts were super informative and interesting! I loved watching them. 🔸️ There was an exhibit featuring the art of EXTREMELY talented students. This exhibit encompassed many types of art forms, including media, product design, audio engineering, studio art, etc... I particularly enjoyed watching the students' short films and animations. Man, they are talented. Thanks Melbourne Museum for the wonderful experience :-)

There are lots of fossils, dinosaurs, solar system, taxidermy, gemstones, insects, history of Victoria, art to look at. You definitely do not wish to miss this if you’re in Melbourne. Good place for family with kids! Expect to spend at least 3-5 hours here.

Excellent! First time here, lots to see and do. Dinosaurs and insects galore and interesting history of Melb and Victoria. We came for the Titanic exhibition which was very interesting (and busy!), but need to go back next time we're in Melbourne to check out all the other stuff we missed.

We saw the Titanic exhibition. Lots of interesting information and beautifully displayed pieces. It was very well done and well worth a visit. The only complaint I have was it was very busy, despite booking ahead there were many people there giving the experience an over crowded feeling. Perhaps that is all part of it though!

Happenstance visit and paid to do the Lego Relics display. Lego was amazing. The kids (16 and 13) thoroughly enjoyed it. Did the activities to go with it which had us going around two or three times to complete them all. It had us thinking and really enjoying the intricacies of the displays. Didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the rest of the exhibits but stuck our heads into a couple which were great. Lots to do for a day for all ages. Cafe as well to keep away the hunger.

Such a wonderful immersive museum, can't believe we haven't visited sooner!!! Staff were so helpful and friendly, vegetarian option for the Titanic high tea was phenomenal. Go early and book online to ensure you get in and avoid lines! Can't wait to visit again so we can see the rest of the museum! Could definitely spend a whole day there and it was so fun and educational.

I simply adore the museum and it's especially wonderful that it's close to where I'm doing my studies at St Vincent's hospital. Nice to just go for a walk around the area. Visited many times, it's breathtaking with all easy access for wheelchairs, parking and anything you need really. Tram stops just outside and within walking distance to Parliament train station as well that I use every time during my commutes.

Melbourne Museum ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $15 for Adults, Free for Kids & Concession (Aussie senior card). Large museum with large indoor outdoor area with plants and explanations of local nature, history area from pioneers and little back alley to walk though. There are lots of great mini-models. The animal section is huge with so many species. Look for the Lion King animals so close together. You’ll hear other guests searching by their movie names. The sea animal area, dinosaur and whale bones are also impressive. The guts section was informative. After a couple of houses viewing the main museum, if you have younger kids, you’ll be able to spend another hour or two as they crawl, dance and play in the kids area. The climbing tree says 5 and under, the museum needs to fix this to be more appropriately aged to 3-8 years old.

Always an interesting place to visit, as there are a lot of interactive exhibits. They also have a number of short term exhibitions that are on display for up to 6 months which are well worth the price of admission. On this visit, we took a tour with a lovely, well informed guide who gave us new insights into the background and history of the museum before letting us loose to continue exploring on our own.

A fantastic museum with unique presentation of exhibits. The content of the First Peoples exhibit was particularly brilliant, with things presented in the voices of their descendants and with honesty and tact. The dinosaur exhibit presents the skeletons in a dynamic way that adds a new level of life to the creatures on display. And the use of sound travelling around the room made the bugs exhibit even more creepier. The layout of the museum is very good, with the building being symmetrical making things easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the cafes not too much of a rip off. We were able to take in the whole museum in 4 hours which left us tired but not struggling. Brilliant afternoon and would recommend.

Make sure to visit the First People gallery where you can see amazing history (past and present). The mini to scale section is just amazing with huge effort done that can't be ignored. Melbourne Museum is awesome. We have an annual membership which is definitely worth the money! We just did the Triceratops exhibit and it was breathtaking. The 3D lights makes you feel like you are living in the era! The Childrens Gallery is also the best! The climbing display is super safe and kids go crazy there. The lighting show at this gallery is amazing for babies! My 8 month old was super entranced by that. Highly recommend. I will update my membership as soon as it runs out. Super worthwhile!

With general admission of 15 you can see different exhibition. Good museum.

Kids enter for free! The museum itself was full of very interesting and bit sized information. My 5 year old spent quite some time reading and interacting with the displays. The exhibits were great and kids loved the dinosaurs the most. The forest exhibit also had some live animals, so it's great to spend a bit of time there. On a side note, cafe staff were welcoming and friendly and hot food was great in this cold summer.

Horridus the Triceratops is absolutely amazing, as well as the surrounding details. Staff were kind and helpful with our questions, being non-local. Everything is clean and feels modern and looked after. Getting brunch at the cafe was great too! Really great coffee and fantastic staff!

Went there recently with two young kids and it was amazing! The exhibitions are interesting, and there's some interactive options, which the kids love. The kids zone/area is awesome! It's so much better than anticipated!! There are so many play sections, climbing equipment, playground, outdoor area, I can keep going!

We had around 2 hours and it was certainly not enough. I would recommend to visit it early with flexible time in case you get interested with a lot of stuffs. I liked the dinosaur’s skeletons, fossils section, the part where they display how the dinosaurs got extinct and the jungle but you can find a lot more in there. I am sure I missed a lot as we had very less time. Great place to go with curious kids.

Absolutely amazing place to wonder, exsplor, gain knowledge, learn new facts, history. My kids loved loved the inside play area 👏absolutely enchanting seriously well done to the designers, who put their creativity behind it ❤️ . Honestly, there's nothing bad anyone could say it's beautiful, it's clean. The museum really has a lot to explore. 😁🤗

As a teacher and a parent, I really love this museum. Carefully designed with all ages in mind, the engaging displays and exhibits are outstanding and thoughtfully designed. The dinosaurs, geology, and insect sections, in particular, are amazing. The toilets are also clean, cafe a good deal and it's nice to chill out afterwards in the surrounding gardens. It's one of the best museums I've been to. And in my line of work I've been to a lot of them.

Went here as a family was thoroughly impressed. The size of this place is amazing. Be warned, they do charge for general entry here. Can pre-book online for faster entry. The REAL triceratops skeleton is the most amazing exhibit and worth a visit just to see this.

Strongly recommended to visit if you are staying around Melbourne! The way they exhibit is unique and interesting. They exhibit not only bones, stones but also alive insects and fishes. There are plenty of species and variety of specimens. Of course children can enjoy the exhibition but adults also can enjoy it. A$15 entrance fee really worth it!

My sister had a wonderful time! I really recommend going on the school holidays cause it’s hella cheap and for most members of your crew, probably free. Only reason it 4 stars for me is because they like all museums can have some price gouging, but relatively not the worst and having to book the playground. I understand for the indoor play place but the outdoor playground doesn’t make the most sense to me. If you didn’t book the playground in advance you can go to the front desk and book there so that’s a heads up

Interesting museum for kids and adults. I loved the dinosaur bones section. They have several quite complete skeletons (don't ask me to name them 😅). Watch out for the Forest Gallery in the middle of the building. Good place to take a break and look out into beautiful Australian flora. Also interesting exhibits and artifacts from the early Australian days. The section on First Nation weapons, jewellery, daily equipment was interesting too. The grounds outside the museum was beautiful. Have time to walk around too.

The museum was great. I found it a lot more interesting than going to a place like the zoo as everything is there on display and won’t move unlike animals that run away. The garden/forest was nice and I found it quite soothing moving along at our own pace. Tickets are for the whole day and you can leave to get lunch and then come back in. Great experience.

Melbourne Museum is the largest museum in the southern hemisphere. It showcases Australian social history, indigenous culture, scientific development, and the environment, among others. Adjacent to the Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens on the The World Heritage List, the museum also houses the IMAX Theatre Melbourne. It is a great place to take children to learn about history, culture, and scientific development.

I bought a ticket to see Titanic Exhibition for 1:45 pm entry . On arrival a line 200 metres long and three people wide. The girl processing each ticket was extremely slow. I never saw exhibition. Instead viewed the rest of the Museum which was highly informative and world class.

Thank the Lord Melbourne has a decent museum! Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, I discovered they have the Lego Relics display! Huge museum with high-quality displays. Great interactive and visual exhibits, indoors and outdoors! I would have taken more photos of this experience, but my mobile phone died from all the excitement. Recommend for adults and kids alike!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Titanic exhibit today. What a well organised, well thought out and well presented exhibit! The passenger cards we were given really helped the kids connect to the experience, and we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t overbooked at all so we didn’t feel rushed or crowded. The rest of the museum is great too, so much to see! You definitely need to allow a few hours to see it, and plan to take lots of breaks if you have kids that may need a sensory break as it was quite loud/crowded in the main exhibits. The rainforest is awesome for a break from the loudness though!

Great exhibits, though I and my friend were there specifically for the Titanic Exhibit. There are also several cafes to choose from, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the overall presentation of the Titanic Exhibit was nice and very informative. Overall, the museum is worth visiting and exploring.

great variety of exhibits with an affordable entry price. the first peoples exhibition is amazing. only thing that stopped me.giving melbourne museum a 5 star review was the cafe and bathrooms. staff seemed a little fed uo being there and the toilets that weren't out of commission needed a bit of attention. fair enough it was mid afternoon by then and the place had seem some traffic.

Loved the dinosaur displays they had! Absolutely amazing! Very educational and informative. There is a triceratops that's 85% complete from the fossils they found. This is a free exhibition with a standard $15 entry fee so go and check it out! There was also a lights show (unsure on the name) that was really cool

Disappointing that the front desk was unable to sell me a membership because they had staff in training (!). The museum content is interesting and fun with a huge variety of fascinating displays well laid out, including taxidermy fauna and birds (and legendary horse Pharlap), a model room (including a dolls' 'mansion', and a creepy model cafe with brilliant fake food and rodents and other animals in the food cabinet), and much more. The whale and dinosaur skeletons are a major feature and are excellent. There are plenty of displays to interest all ages; the museum provides an excellent snapshot of old Melbourne (such as life-size reproductions of houses from 'Little Lon') and Australian history and culture that would intrigue both locals and international visitors. The museum is more about enjoyment and entertainment than information or education though; the display texts are quirky and sometimes annoyingly obscure, but there's little information other than labels. The cafe food is limited and very expensive, even for this type of venue. The bowl of warm noodles I bought was awful; mostly gluggy, flavourless noodles with a few pieces of soggy vegetables and tofu. Coffee took 10 minutes to make, so my food was cooling while I stood waiting. People went to the coffee collection counter expecting to buy coffee only to be redirected to the purchase counter around the corner - this could be easily solved with some signage. The shop is well stocked, especially for children's items. Overall, a great day. Next time I'll spend more time there, as there's a lot to see (hence the wish to buy a membership). I didn't see it all (missed the rain forest garden) and skimmed over many areas to get a scope of the whole. I would definitely revisit, but I'll take my own packed lunch.

The Melbourne Museum re opened we had booked a ticket for 2 . Keep in mind this is during difficult times of the pandemic , was a very enjoyable experience . We spent approximately 3 hours there including a snack in the kiosk. Favourite parts were the minerals, stuffed animals , dinosaurs. Staff did an excellent job of ensuring everyone adhered to social distancing and hand sanitiser was readily available everywhere . Would recommend this for a day out , would have included walk through parliament gardens and cooks cottage if weather was a little better.

We decided to check out the museum since it was a rainy day. Did not get there till after noon and made it through the Aboriginal section and realized it was getting late so we searched for the movie theatre. After a few bad turns trying to follow the signs, we finally asked an employee for directions and being told you had to go down a set of escalators (no sign at the escalators). Finally got there and went in even though a show was in progress. Sat through another show - very nice. Decent experience but wish we had come earlier to seem more and that the museum signs to the theatre were more clear.

Extremely disappointed. We were given a 4pm slot presuming that would be enough time to see the museum but with a closing time of 5pm we barely got through one section. 4pm slots should not be allocated. There is no way the museum can be accessed fully in 1 hour making it a waste of our money and time.

Utterly splendid visitor experience at the Melbourne Museum. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the cafe and shop are well worth a visit. Oh, and then there's the architecture of the place and the collection, which is what you've really gone to see. The original cottage at the top of the hill is full of character - you can imagine the owners having just stepped out. And then down at the 'new' house it's all modern concrete and delightfully straight lines. Check out the sculpture walks in the garden and leave very happy.

Melbourne Museum is a natural and cultural history museum located in the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, Australia. Located adjacent to the Royal Exhibition Building, it is the largest museum in the Southern Hemisphere. The museum was opened in 2000 as a project of the Government of Victoria, on behalf of Museums Victoria who administrates the venue. Melbourne museum is a rich response to Melbourne's urban condition, and provides a place for education, history, culture and society to engage with each other in a contemporary setting. It is now an important part of Melbourne's soft infrastructure and is consistently ranked as one of the most popular museums and tourist attractions in Australia, winning 'Best Tourist Attraction' at the Australian Tourism Awards in 2011. In addition to its galleries, the museum features spaces such as Curious?, which is a place to meet staff and find answers relating to the collections, research and behind-the-scenes work of Museums Victoria; as well as a cafe and a gift shop. The back-of-house areas are home to some of Museums Victoria's State Collections, which holds over 17 million items including objects relating to Indigenous Australian and Pacific Islander cultures, geology, historical studies, palaeontology, technology & society, and zoology,[4][5] as well as a library collection that holds some of Australia’s rarest and finest examples of 18th and 19th century scientific monographs and serials. The world's largest IMAX Theatre screen, which is also part of the museum complex, shows movies and documentary films in large-screen 3-D format.

As always Phar Lap was a highlight for me but I’m disappointed at the lack of related memorabilia available in the gift shop these days. Instead the shop is full of overpriced toys and giftware that can be purchased elsewhere and aren’t directly related to the exhibits. I was amazed at how little the museum has changed since my last visit more than 10 years ago. It’s heartbreaking that the taxidermy collection of animals is being removed although they do deserve some care. I loved the insects. We couldn’t access the children’s room as it was booked out and my son found most of it rather uninspired. The highlights for him were the escalators and the “dizzy room”. Food in the cafe was reasonably priced. Toilets were clean.

Very interesting and great that it’s free! I loved all the exhibits and think it’s a great day out. Would definitely recommend to all families looking for something to do!

Pretty standard from what you'd expect from a museum, the nature part was very nice. Lots of interactive things if you had kids, building is very nice and modern. Layout is odd with no real flow but I'm still glad I went to see and experience a bit of history

Great experience as always going to the Melbourne Museum. It had been years since we have been previously and thanks to covid, we haven’t been able to go even if we wanted to.

Really a good place for adults and kids. You would be able to spend at least 2 hours here with the kids to explore around. Even the souvenirs shop are amazing too.

Excellent museum at the heart of the city. Has variety of exhibits related to dinosaurs, butterfly and other insects. Has a miniature rooms section, aboriginal section and small forest trail.

Amazing! We were blown away by the triceratops exhibition. The staff and whole team at the museum do an incredible job keeping the museum to such a high standard. A little something for everyone and well worth a visit.

Me and my 2 year old had a great time. Easy pram access to all exhibits. He could see everything whilst sat in the pram and was in awe at the dinosaurs. The children's gallery is a great place for the young kids to stretch their legs. It gets quite busy but the kids don't seem to care and that's what matters. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We'll be back!

  • 5/5 Darshini S. 1 year ago on Google
Well, this is definitely a better place than the exhibits displayed in National Gallery of Victoria. There were so many exhibitions inside and students get a concession on their tickets, so yay. There are plenty of amazing artworks, sculptures and information for people of all ages. Would definitely recommend this place. I spent about 3.5 hours here.

  • 4/5 Richa N. 10 months ago on Google
Overall a great experience. Kids loved it with so many amazing activities and digital screens to show them animated dinosaurs which keeps them amazed. They have a nice cafe where you can get yourself a nice lunch.

OMG!! I love love love this place! It's worth a visit, especially if you have kids and/or a family. It is a vast exhibition. There's a lot to see, so plan ahead. A half-day is definitely necessary. We visited Fantastic Beast: The Wonder of Nature and had an amazing time. After finishing, we went shopping in the store. I came home with a magic 🪄 wand! 😂

Visiting the Melbourne Museum is an immersive and captivating experience. The impressive architecture of the building itself draws you in, and once inside, you're greeted with a diverse range of exhibits showcasing the rich history, culture, and natural wonders of Australia. From ancient artifacts to interactive displays, the museum offers something for everyone. Walking through the exhibits, you'll learn about the indigenous peoples, flora, and fauna of the region, as well as the city's vibrant history and contemporary art scene. The interactive installations provide a hands-on approach to learning, making it engaging for both kids and adults. Overall, a visit to the Melbourne Museum is a journey through time and a celebration of the country's heritage and diversity.

The experience was beautiful. The dinosaurs phenomenonal. The bower bird and all round atmosphere was lovely. Kids will enjoy the children's play centre. & images very good

Wonderful atmosphere to have a relaxed walk. So many things to explore and it will take the whole day for sure. The historic and pre historic sections is the highlight of the showcases. With the projections and screens, they have taken it to next level with detailed narrations. The sections showcasing the rich cultural history of Australia is also a great hall to be discovered. Since its free for students, not much burden as well.

We went to see the Fantastic Beasts exhibition on the weekend. It was so fun & very insightful! The amount of effort & detail put into this Melbourne Museum was fantastic. We really enjoyed ourselves as well. We would love to come back here again in the future!

  • 3/5 Heather H. 7 months ago on Google
I enjoyed the visit but thought there would be more information about the earlier days not just dinosaurs and Indigenous items. Don’t get me wrong, there was interesting information about Melbourne and the inside garden was fascinating. Additionally, the gift shop I felt was too expensive and again leaned on quite a bit of Indigenous products to purchase.

Kids will enjoy it.. you can see dinosaur history, bugs and insects, Australian history, and few precious stones. I did liked that mini doll house..that precious one stole my heart ❤️

  • 3/5 TravelManRich New Z. 6 months ago on Google
Specifically went for The Fantastic Beasts exhibition, which was good but too small. Needed to be much larger as it was not worth $32 for 2 rooms of displays. Best part is the real 85% complete Triceratops skeleton. Rest of museum is just ok and odd lay out.

  • 5/5 Zatniko Satrio M. 6 months ago on Google
One of the standout features was the clarity of the signs throughout the museum. This made navigating the exhibits a breeze and enhanced the overall experience. The museum itself is well-curated and offers a wealth of information. Highly recommended for both first-time visitors and those returning for another exploration! Anyway, love the triceratops !!!

I love how there is a little forest in here with birdlife, creeks and fish. The First Nations walk was educational and the dinosaur exhibit is awesome. It was $15 entry (free for members) there are other exhibits you can pay extra entry for. I used the QR code they had at the entry to purchase tickets and then went down the prepurchased line with no wait. Parking underground there, but expensive unless you are a member. I really enjoyed it. Nice day with my husband, had lunch there and you can pack your own.

Truly interesting experience. Plenty to do, some free exhibits and some by payment. Expect to come across school groups doing tours. Can be exceptionally busy. Best option is public transport, on-street & car park parking is expensive

  • 5/5 Lynn H. 5 months ago on Google
Very, very informative. There is so much to see and do. You could literally spend hours here. It is really something special to see. Thank you, Chaya, for helping us, to purchase, our museum, and Imax tickets. Imax is built on so easy to go and watch. Wheelchair friendly schools excursions. But this place is so big that the schools will not be in your way. A huge gift store. It is amazing! There are so many beautiful books and souvenirs to buy. Adults $15. Seniors $10. Free entry with concessions and children up to 16 years. I would recommend some more seating throughout for elderly and disabled. Also, a couple of seats in the 180 dome movie viewing. Just for that break would also be good. Another suggestion is that school excursions are a little less noisy. They were okay, but it could be good so we can take things in when reading. Otherwise it is beautiful 🙂

very nice staff & very cool displays. there's plenty to look at for all ages and easy to spend a whole day here. if you're interested in reading about each exhibit, you should buy a museum membership so you can return as many times you need as there is a huge amount of information to read through. there are 2 cafes on the ground floor and a large gift shop. easy to find toilets. the temporary exhibitions have all been really amazing we loved the lego one. visited on a weekday and it was quiet, but there's plenty of space to move around when it is busy

  • 3/5 Matthew G. 5 months ago on Google
A fun day out especially with the kids. The children’s sensory sessions are a must for anyone with 1+ year olds offering an experience overload that you can visit repeatedly and still find new things to try. The rest of the museum has lots to explore but more for toddlers and above. The food options leave something to be desired. Small cafes with limited selections that sell out regularly and a main lunch spot targeting healthy options, very pricy and not the quality offering you would expect.

  • 5/5 JunHao Z. 4 months ago on Google
Recommend you guys to experience here. Not only the giant dinosaur you may visit but also you may learn the history of Melbourne and aboriginals. Really impressive. And here got IMAX cinema by the way.

Great museum with interactive exhibits; we personally didn’t have enough time to explore everything but the dino exhibits were mesmerizing. The led light section that you could walk through were a highlight for me!

Very beautiful place to visit. Great collection of dinosaur fossils, meteors, minerals and artifacts on display. Worth your time to visit, spend some time thinking and be educated.

Amazing place for your kiddos! The whole exhibition is pretty remarkable and little ones loved it. There is a special space with soft plays and visuals that very unique. You have to take your little one. It’s free with any concession card. 👌

The kids had so much fun visiting. Lots to see, do and learn. You have to prebook the playground so make sure you do that, but trust me it’s worth it. Easy to navigate around the museum. If you do a booked exhibit (such as us with the Titanic one) it can get quite crowded.
