It's a very small but interesting museum of Australia's banking heritage, particularly the history of ANZ, beginning from the days when Indigenous Australians traded with European settlers. It has a collection of banknotes and coins from the 1800s, moneyboxes, banking scales, and ANZ typewriters and calculating machines through the ages. One big negative for me is that the lighting inside is terrible. Being so dark makes it very difficult to read much of the display information and thus negates much of the benefits and enjoyment of the museum. It's in the lower ground floor of the magnificent 'Gothic Bank' at 380 Collins Street, Melbourne. You'll see a blue banner at the entrance.

It's a small museum inside the Gothic bank building, which is also the site of the first stock exchange in Melbourne. Probably the coolest ANZ branch of Victoria.

I love this quirky old building. Gothic revival and awesome gargoyles holding shields out the front. It is a place you can easily walk past without even noticing on your daily hike to work. Hidden out in the public like a number of our beautiful buildings in the city. You don’t have to travel the world to see some amazing architecture. Just open your eyes and look up!

It's a cute little, free museum housed in a grand building. Worth popping in to have a look if you are in the area and not in a rush.

A small and free museum with interesting exhibits. The staff are very friendly and nice. She volunteered to tell us the history of the bank and historic exhibits. And upstairs is a working bank as well (Gothic Bank) with great architecture.

It's mostly a museum for ANZ banon-Australians may not enjoy it as much. It does have interesting world history timeline along one wall, as well as examples of historic Australian currency, but that's less than half of this one-room, basement "museum". There was also a haunting audio loop of various voices playing in the room, which was more annoying than anything else. Check it out if you enjoy ANZ bank piggy banks and broken typewriters.

Look like Gringott bank in Harry Potter. Don't forget to go to their basement to look at their tiny museum of old banking system!

Its ok for a quick look. Not much but expected more articles. The building is definitely worth a second look on the quality of the architecture of days gone by. What a shame more of these type of buildings have been flattened who look at the monetary value of a piece of dirt the building lies on. Shame on governments of all colours for allowing this to occur.

Very small museum, but great experience to learn their history. The ANZ branch on ground floor is so awesome. Such an elegant and classic building. It is worth to visit.

As others have said, this is a bit small, but tells about interesting historic events that affected people and Money in Australia and the world. Doesn’t take longer than 30-45mins to see everything, only issue is it closes at 3pm só make sure to come early!
