Amazing experience. Nick was very helpful introducing us to many different technologies. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. At the beggining there was a very nice gentleman who could understand you saying your name in Morse code! Great range of telecommunications equipment, with very old ones and some still working! All staff very welcoming. I am definitely coming back. I live in the region and never had the chance to go there. Maybe they could improve the opening hours and street signage to attract more people into this precious and important museum.

A great collection of past PMG, Telecom and Telstra technology including echange equipment, customer fixed and mobile handsets, Telex equipment and the legendary mechanical speaking clock. Most of the exchange equipment is functional including SxS and ARE11 Xbar exchanges. Worth the visit.

Excellent display both static and dynamic. Many old phones and other telecommunications equipment and several fully working examples of telephone exchanges. Including one of the first "Talking Clocks" to be installed in Australia. Knowledgeable volunteers to take you through the displays and answer questions.

With the smorgasbord of amazing smartphones available today, it's easy to take communication for granted. How did we get to where we are today? The evolution and history of telecommunications is really a fascinating story and you can actually see it all on display at the VTM. This is not just a bunch of passive exhibits because there's lots of working vintage equipment there, all maintained by volunteers. With education for the young and nostalgia for the not-so-young, this little museum really is one of Melbourne's hidden treasures. Entry is free but it's not open every day so you'll need to check the Telstra Museum website to find out when you can visit.
