Great place just off Eastlink to wonder around look at all things engines. Yes, it has the feel that it’s the extension of an old man’s backyard or shed full of machinery and has been told by the better half to get rid of it or she’s moving out. That is what gives the place its charm. Plenty of history visible and many willing to share its history.

A few good displays. A lot of displays either not running’s or covered. Went to a stand with what I thought was a sausage sizzle. Only to be told they can’t sell the sausages as they don’t have a food license, and was only for members of the club. That part was very disappointing, as I feel they could make some good money for their club this way.

Great experience seeing all the old steam engines both out of order and refurbished running engines. As well as the collection of other old antiques such as the military tank and run down tractors etc. Even found a bird's nest hidden away inside one of the tractors. The miniature railway that runs around the outside of the venue was a delight to ride on as it reminded me of my childhood. All in all a great place to take the family or just head down with a friend to experience the old engines and learn a thing or two about how these magnificent machines work and how they used to run the world.

The exhibits - including the toy train - are only switched on, on the final Sunday of each month; excluding the final Sunday of January when they have their annual boiler inspection

Wonderful collection of steam engines, model engines, old machinery both working and in various stages of restoration, and people! Passionate people who will tell you all about the wonderful and interesting machines and the stories of their working lives and how they came to live here at the museum. Children and adult children love it here - so many hulks to climb, huge things to peer at and muse over. Birthday parties will be hosted for a reasonable fee. There are row upon row of parked vehicles to peruse, and 6 or 7 giant machinery sheds of equipment large and small, with every conceivable variety of important advance in farming and industrial machinery displayed and explained. The mini diesel train will take you for a trip around the grounds for a small donation. The last Sunday of each month will see the most things happening onsite. I still wish to see Bigfoot the walking dragline in operation - so i will be returning some time soon. This amazing mining machine actually walks to get around! Membership is available for the avid attendee. Take the family to Melb Steam Traction Engine Club for a wonderful, educational day out. Wheelchair accessible parking available, clean, modern toilet amenities.

An impressive collection of well maintained steam operated engines. Some of these have been used in higher education settings before finding themselves here. Hobbyist club members operate these steam engines at various times through their open days. Mini train rides on site. There are 12 sheds. Not all exhibits are indoors, there are quite a few outdoors as well. I liked the collection of ancient cash registers especially which reminded me of a rather old sitcom set in a large department store.

A great place to visit no matter your age. Kids love the trains and earthmoving equipment. Everyone one, old or young, enjoys steam powered machinery from the pages of history. The collection of Australian produced machinery is very impressive. Last Sunday of the month running days are worth a visit. Or the annual rally on the march long weekend

I went here with my dad for fathers day to have a look at the engines and well-oiled machines. there's a donation box, and machines run last sunday of each month. We had a lovely tour of the blacksmith's shop with a demonsration from blacksmith apprentice Ron. What a wonderful opportunity to experience machines of the industrial revolution!

I went with our family for the stream festival. Our kids are all under ten, they each found things they were interested in and enjoyed. I loved it all! My wife probably enjoyed that we were having fun more than the activity itself. Food and drinks were available, but we didn't try any. All the volunteers and team around were very friendly, happy to chat and demonstrate, etc.

Went here with my family a couple of months ago. My son is a big fan of trains, turbines etc. He had a ball. There's several different sheds which contain different machinery and operational engines. There's also a mini ride-on train ride that runs around the perimeter of the exhibits which the kids love too. Great place for a family day out!

Great place for anyone interested in restored machinery. Many steam and diesel engines restored through a labour of love. Fascinating history and origins of the steam and diesel machinery, with knowledgeable volunteers happy to explain and inform (Hats off to Warwick, who patiently showed me around on a Thursday recently). Great to visit as a family day on Sunday, where apparently some of the engines are fired up and kids rides are available - along with an impressive model railway shed with some intriguing and beautifully restored small steam units. The giant diesel central to the main shed is a standout, as is the tugboat engine nearby. The pair of huge steam tractors in one of the smaller buildings is a highlight too - they have winches that connect them to a plough in between the 2. Warwick tells me they fire them up on the Steamfest day in March and demonstrate the plough. There is also a huge collection of earthmoving equipment at the back of the property. The club is up for another 20 year lease from Parks Vic. soon, and it must be preserved as an important museum and community facility that continues to deliver benefits to visitors and volunteers alike. Here's hoping that Parks Vic. once again acknowledges its value and doesn't make it 'history'.

Although this place is open most weekends, it is fantastic to go on the Labour day weekend. They have everything running and lots of machines running around outside. There is a band and plenty of food outlets on the three days of the holiday weekend. I was talking to a lady who's 11 year old son is a member there and helps work on some of the projects. He loves it and is learning heaps. She was so proud to see him riding around the arena on a huge traction engine, with one of his mentors. A place for real old school engineering.
