Lovely atmosphere, lively music was awesome all around. Great summer night market with a good variety of food stalls... could have definitely been more stalls but the food was great nonetheless. Only downside is waiting time for food as the lines are awfully long so get there early I guess(?)

I think this may have been the highlight of our Melbourne trip. This market is a sensory overload. The quality and variety of food and goods here was purely amazing. What ever you do, don't miss going here. Saturday morning seemed to be the best day

Love it here! Such a great morning to be spent browsing all the different areas. It has everything you need from fresh produce to clothing and gifts. The veg and fruit are all fresh and the heart and seafood are consistently good quality. The deli section is my favourite with all sorts of beautiful European treats! There's a food hall with a really wide selection of different cuisines plus coffee carts and a brilliant donut van! Getting there is straight forward as it's well serviced by buses and trams. Recommend getting there early to avoid it getting too crowded but even when it's busy it's a great atmosphere.

A nice not so little market in the middle of the city. The place is ideal to find fresh veggies on very nominal prices. They also have many small businesses outlets selling art, souvenirs, knock-off clothes, leather items. I did get passport holder customised from here, they had so many options and colours. The place also hosts night markets on Wednesday during summer and winter. The night markets are fun filled with music, food and shopping outlets.

I could become very poor here. The best cheeses, sausages, specialities, coffee, bread... well, almost everything that makes life good, can be found here. A must see here in Melbourne.

You obviously aren't going to have everything you want here but the selection from produce to poultry to bread is fresh, local, cost saving, and most importantly delicious! Highly highly highly recommend shopping here for your staple produce and meat and bread over the supermarkets. They also have clothes, soap, pharmaceuticals, bags, jewelry, and other items as well as food. There are shops lined up and waiting to sell local goods.

Queen Victoria Market is an authentic, bustling, inner-city market that has been the heart and soul of Melbourne for 140 years. Home to over 600 small businesses, it is a great place to discover fresh and specialty produce, hand-made and unique products, great coffee and food, souvenirs and clothing. Shopping at the Market has always been one of life’s great pleasures. It is not just the abundance of fresh food, it’s the friendly banter with the traders, the vibrant and multicultural atmosphere, the special events and festivals, and the sense of belonging that comes with it. While you’re here, make sure you visit String Bean Alley which is home to a colourful collection of Melbourne’s best independent makers, creators, designers and artists. Be sure to take the Ultimate Foodie Tour, a two-hour guided walking tour where you’ll taste the freshest produce, discover unique ingredients, learn tips and tricks for shopping and cooking, discover the Market's history and meet some of our beloved traders. Bookings essential at the website. Queen Victoria Market is also home to the Night Market on Wednesday nights, showcasing global street food, live music and entertainment, festival bars, specialty shopping and a great Melbourne night out. The Market also offers a historic venue space with a range of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Very much a market for tourist. Not all are local products. Some stores are run by Chinese, then likely the products are from China (price marked up 5x from china). The other food stores are mostly fresh local produces. Fresh juices and food are good.. a few bakeries 👍🏻

A must visit spot if you are visiting Melbourne or a great spot to do your fruit, veg, meat, and deli shopping if you are a local. The fresh seafood is amazing. The selection of cheeses can not be beaten. The fresh fruit and vegetables are the best. The general shopping section is worth exploring. One of our weekend staples is a visit to the Queen Vic Market.

The market is awesome. It has so many great things from trinkets to groceries. I have spent many weekends exploring all the goodies. I was particularly impressed with one of the site managers who pointed me in the right direction when I was looking for a specific stall, I think his name was Kurt. A top bloke who added to the experience. I highly recommend checking this place out and sampling all the delicious goodies and hidden gems here

A great place to visit in Melbourne. Love the variety of the shops that sell all kind of daily stuffs. You can find all in one here. Especially love the market where I can find unlimited fresh shucked oysters. It is really value for money and good bargain fresh seafood ! We also found place to get our fresh ground coffee, fruits are a gem that sell mussels pot! The mussel pot has been here many years and cooked really good mussel pot. Do try the spicy one with coconut cream and chili. Dipping in with bread made your day!

Had the chance to visit here for the Summer Night Market - which was really nice! Good crowd with nice food we could share and nibble on. Good enough drinks selection for a market too. Worth a visit with some friends, and would love to check this out in the day too.

Canadian traveller here! I must say I was blown away by this market that was opened on a weekday with several food stalls and artists with their creative work. This was a great experience overall and would recommend this to anyone visiting Melbourne. You can easily spend 3 hours here. It’s free! Lots of families and groups hanging out to enjoy this awesome place. They can use more seating areas considering how busy it got, but you can always arrive earlier than the crowd or find a corner to sit on as long as you aren’t blocking the way. We went to the Black Sheep stall and we were happy we tried it. I recommend the mixed meat if you want to experience all their meat in one sitting.

Visited both the Night and Day market on two separate occasions. I preferred the Day market. During the Night visit, the whole place was packed and crowded. Since it only Opened on Wednesday night (seasonal). The food prices at each stalls were quite pricy with average taste. Nothing fanciful. There a silent disco and it should be fun to join if you not shy! As for the Day visit, it of a different feel and you can just buy a cup of coffee and relax yourself. Walking around in a slow pace and buy any food that attracts you. It the experience that counts. There also those different vintage, clothing or souvenir stalls to walk around. Take a look at some of the photos taken during my visits!

You can find everything in this market. The place is clean and accessible. It's well distributed and it's a big market. Prices are good! I recommend you to go at 1:30 pm or 2 pm because prices are better at that time. You'll find an Italian bakery inside which smells delicious and the bread is outstanding. All products are fresh and there is a huge variety of fruit and veggies.

My go-to place to get fruit and veggies. Always a good price and good bargain. Should visit after 1 PM, cause they will lower the price, although you have to be very thorough to pick the best stuff at that hour. Also, the night market was fun, should visit around 5 pm so it's not too crowded and you can get a space to eat, cause it will get too packed after 6 pm. Best time would be on the first week of the night market, cause there will be fewer people

This market place is awesome. Plenty to eat, shop and explore. Have to get there early to avoid the crowd and getting a parking space on the weekends. There have varieties of groceries, meat, vegetables and other produce etc. Plenty of Cafe for a cup of coffee. Love coming to this place especially of fresh mussels with white wine. Love it!!

Went here for the winter market, must say that the food choices here were amazing. Varieties were out of this world. The best time to avoid lines is to come after 8 pm. We tried many favourites and everything was good. Only issue is that when you want to buy water, you have to go to the bar area. Otherwise, I am going here every Wednesday.

Wow! visited the Wednesday night market. It had an awesome vibe. Food and stalls were amazing. We got back to the hotel and went back to buy more things. The next morning we went back. Heaps of stalls, some items were pricey, others were good value. Brought an amazing honey melon in the fruit and vegetables section!

The best place to come for your weekly shop. With cost of living rising, the fruit and veg prices at Vic Markets are hard to beat. The weekends are always vibing with so many people coming for fresh produce and street style food. The meat part has so many stores to choose from and there’s always something delicious to find in the deli. From small good to delicious lunch options this place has it all.

Amazing atmosphere and cheap food ($12 for 6 oysters and $6 for sugar cane juice), and so many local stalls with beautiful hand made items. Loved getting lost in the seemingly never ending aisles of the market and being surrounded by artwork, music, and delicious food.

definitely a must-do if you’re around town! plenty of things to eat and shop ranging from clothes to kitchenware to souvenirs to fresh local harvests!! the market is pretty big and widespread with directional signs over each aisle to guide you. i would suggest allocating at least 2-3hr to properly enjoy the market.

Fresh produce and organic stores are still open in stage-4 lock down. I recommend Saturday for vegetable shopping. Better prices compared to Super markets and fresh food with more options to choose from.

Western food, asian food, etc. Market place for weekly groceries.. Meat, vegetables, cheese, bread, and lots more. Just to add on that the floor inside the market here is dry whereas the market where I come from is wet. I totally agree that the things that are sold here are very expensive after the conversion to Asian currency, however to take the opportunities, since I am there already, to try local produce like sausages, bacon, bread, etc. (e.g. full English breakfast). 30 years back I would have got more stuff when the currency back then is about 2 times more. Now it is 3 times more.

One of the best markets I've ever been to. Where you can buy fresh produce, clothing, belts, and so many other things, souvenirs, sunglasses and hats, and a magnificent food stall where you can buy pastries, juices, hot cooked meals, terrines and even organic wine, and many more items. It's a real treat!

Truffle festival was very good. Many different options to try truffles, from risottos, burgers, crepes, gnocchi, pizza and Mac and cheese. I had the Mac and cheese and it was pretty good. The also had shops selling fresh truffles and all types of truffles oils and salts. The live cooking class was a plus. The chef was very charismatic.

Some very unique and interesting market stalls. Plenty of events on during the year, with the Truffle Melbourne Festival being particularly amazing with lots of delicious food, drinks and shows. Lots of fresh produce, with some vendors permitting card payments now which is great, but take cash just in case. Definitely worth a visit when in the centre at a weekend!

OMG this is the best market ever. There is something for everyone. From Australian gifts, clothes, shoes, leather goods and much much more. Then there’s the food section. The fresh fruit and veges, meats and seafood. And then the best part ever, all the little delis selling the most amazing selections of cold meats, cheeses dips, olives, crackers absolutely everything you could imagine. It’s amazing. Spend a couple of hours or spend the day but just make sure you put it on your to do list.

I really enjoyed the artisan food part of the market and the fresh produce was amazing and delicious. I felt there were too many stalls selling cheap quality Chinese made goods which spoiled the experience a bit for me. Was nice to see the stalls that were selling good quality Australian or NZ made goods. Excellent coffee and amazing pastries available at the market.

A fun experience! I wish I had more time! Plenty of food and market wares. Meat is in a separate building. The produce was beautiful and fresh - make sure you shop around as the pricing was quite varied. Lots to eat from great coffee to doughnuts with a crazy long line up and roasted chestnuts. Lots of vendors still appreciate cash. Well worth a visit!

Great evening spent here. The food is just awesome each and every food truck has its own unique menu and all are equally good. I was very surprised at the quality of food and flavor being so great everywhere. Live music in the evening market makes it more enjoyable. I also visited the morning market when all the food trucks go away and are replaced with local vendors selling arts and crafts or clothing. There were few options to eat as compared to the evening . But found some nice baristas on truck for morning coffee and fresh produce of fruits and vegetables in other stalls. Worth visiting both morning and evening.

Very nice market with good food. Unfortunately it only open in the morning, however price gone done at their COB. MUSSELS are delicious, just the line is too long. There are table at the end of the hall. Don't worry about the limited seat near the shop. Don't forget the hotdog shop and the beetroot dip . Don't worry about the line up, they are efficient.

Queen Victoria Market stands out as one of the cleanest markets I've ever visited. The entire experience was delightful, especially considering our visit during the workweek when the crowd was relatively light, enhancing the overall atmosphere. The market has numerous vendors and shops, offering a wide array of souvenirs at reasonable prices. One standout was the tote bag shop, which featured lovely bags, and I couldn't resist purchasing some as souvenirs. With plenty of options for a quick bite and extensive shopping opportunities, Queen Victoria Market is a place where you can easily spend hours.

The Queen Victoria Market is just like Namdaemun Market in Korea A variety of souvenirs, leather goods, vegetables, meat, fresh fishes, and even spices are sold. You need a cash rather than a credit card in here, and you can see many local people pulling carts to buy fresh meat, fruit and fishes. It is also nice that there are many shops where you can eat various flavors.

One of the biggest market that provides all essentials. I went on a Saturday it was too much crowded. Apart from the crowd we will be having an awesome experience of shopping over there. There is space for kids, dogs.. But one simple thing I noticed was the price for fruits were different on different shops. For example I bought 1 kg cherries for 12 dollar from the entrance and the same cherries were of 8 dollar on the exit. I was wondering why the difference happened. Overall experience was good 👍

I love visiting this market for my fruit and veggies and everything else under the sun. The produce is sooooo fresh and amazing! The diversity and quality of food is astounding. And amazing value! They also have a section with a wide range of goods and clothing which can be a lot of fun and a great way to spend time wandering. Extremely accessible by public transport too. Oh, and if you like coffee, you’ll be in heaven.

My family get all of our fresh foods here and we absolutely love it. They have an amazing selection of stalls and you could find anything you need. All the stall owners are lovely and very helpful. The doughnut stall out the front deserves a special mention for their double jam bags😍. Highly recommend for any fresh produce shopping.

Always the freshest produce. Don't buy the absolute cheapest..you will be disappointed as it will be close to use by date..which is just like the supermarkets. Buy produce at the average rate you see on the day..it will be lovely and fresh and last for ages.

this has got to be one of the best places to experience melbourne. It is a place where everyone is welcome. It is also a place where you can get good quality fruit and help the Australian local farmers out more than Coles or Safeway/woolworths. It is a place where you can bargain your food rather than paying the set prices at the local supermarket.

  • 1/5 Christie N. 3 years ago on Google
Terrible parking fee. We have shopped here for 10 years and more. We often get 1st hour free parking. We return this morning for flowers shopping at QnFlower. Just went in and their signage still have 1st hour free. Then after 30mins wrapping a bouquet we left and they charged $6. Called the guy on speaker he said its $6 now. This is faulty and miss leading /advertising. You should remove the signage or update that you will charge $6 per hour. If this is what you try to making up the lost during covid19 with charging fee on parking, there will be less and less customer shopping at Victoria market. Even QV parking in CBD giving 2 hours free parking for shoppers. I hope you see my point so other regular shoppers dont get disappointed like me.

Queen Victoria Market probably has the biggest variety of fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood you can find under one roof. They have gourmet cheese and speciality foods as well in the air-conditioned building. When getting fruits and vegetables in the open area, do walk around to catch a good bargain. There are some food stalls and stalls selling clothes, footwear and home furnishing; but these had gone down quite a fair bit recently probably due to the drop in tourists and visitors due to Covid-19. Parking around that area is about 1P to 2P and is usually metered. So, do remember to pay for your parking to avoid a hefty fine. The wardens are really on the ball.

  • 4/5 Nicola N. 3 years ago on Google
Great selection of different stalls. Got some beautiful cherries. They have upped the anti since I last went to a market, that's for sure. Healthy competition gives an opportunity to get a lower price as the consumer. Good that covid wise people can keep these markets ongoing. I'll revisit.

A sentimental favourite which has suffered greatly under covid. Very few stalls and even fewer customers. But if you are confident about your health, the Vicky Market is offering even better discounts than normal. I barely looked in the direction of the kangaroo skin rugs and the guy was offering me a 40% discount. And as it was near closing time, stall holders had swapped most of their signs over to $1/kg

  • 5/5 Ricky L. 3 years ago on Google
Fruit and vegetables are the cheapest you can find anywhere on this side of the city albeit some farmers markets. The quality does range so I would recommend doing a loop and balancing out some cheap buys with quality. Prices change all the time so its pretty much a new experience each time. Meat and seafood also varies in price based on season but for the most part are cheaper than supermarket options. There's also more variety to choose from including cuts you wouldn't normally see + additional goods like offcuts, offal etc. Seafood is both fresh and frozen with great variety. Indoor section with delicatessen goods like cheeses and small goods can be quite pricey but the quality is great.

Queen Vic Market is such an iconic landmark to Melbourne, it is hard to not count it in the must visit places. It has got things to offer to the locals as well as tourists. For the locals it's our go to place for the freshest produce. There's the vegetable market offering really fresh fruits and veggies. There's the deli section which has a wide range of cured meats, breads, wines and chocolate. And my favorite is the meat section which has everything from red meats to sea food and everything in between. Queen Vic Market also has local vendor stalls. Go past String Bean Alley to check out some novelty stores or check out the stalls which has a wide range of items like clothes, shoes, sun glasses, etc. My favorite are the cafés and coffee shops across the market. For those using cars, there's a huge paid parking lot. I love this place, there's always something new to find here.

A must visit place in Melbourne. PLENTY of choice in whatever you're looking for. Hard not to walk out without buying something. I like the way it's set out. It makes it easy to walk around and see what's on offer. Stop for coffee or have a chat with the stall holders. Sometimes while you're having that coffee you will see the funniest things, including a very large carrot. They're always happy to help.

I've been going here my entire life and putting aside my biased nostalgia and love for the place, I have always had a beautiful, fun and peaceful time at the markets. Always finding some amazing little gems, literally and figuratively. It's especially nice with fewer people around during covid. All the interactions I've had with stall owners have been incredible. Recently I went to Lucky Stone and got the most amazing crystals at the best prices I've ever seen. The lady was very in tune with what I've been searching for and her and her husband were really kind and helpful. Really made for a beautiful first venture into the city since Feb 🙏

We were here in 2019 and the market was bustling. The difference between our visit then and now in September 2022 is significant. Many stalls gone. They have not yet recovered from the hardships of covid lockdowns. They need your support. The food and fresh produce markets is as awesome as ever. Oh the choices are mind boggling. So worth the visit. Iconic as ever.

It is indeed an iconic market in CBD area. Quite affordable with great selection of products. I particularly love how they offer more discounts and special prices near the end of their opening hours. Some stalls also take cards. They usually have a night market on Wednesday nights, but you’ll need to get there early to avoid unimaginable crowd and endless queues.

  • 4/5 J L. 9 months ago on Google
Large market with some history. There are cheap donuts you could get. It is made from the renovated mini van? and they show you the process. If you are fan of mussel, try the mussel hotpot they are at the end of A shed. If you love spicy food try the plain chili Mussels. Not fan, try the grilled mussel or Coconut steamed mussels. I'm not a fan of hot chocolate, but people were crazy for it. It is in the food court. They torch the marshmellow. And Give it to ya with the drink. There are other good cafes Worth visiting.

Some people may compare this to the South Melbourne Market, but I honestly think both markets are great! The Queen Victoria Market has a lot more choices of shops and food. It’s a fun visit to explore a wide variety of food here, from mussels specialty and chowder to Dutch pancakes, and more. And during winter, they also have a winter night market every Wednesday night. I'm not really interested in the clothes and souvenirs here, but their prices are actually not the cheapest in the city.

Wirklich sehr beeindruckender Markt.

Visited the market on a Friday morning. It was amazing to see a lot of local produce. They are fresh! Apart from that, you can get your fashion needs here as well (though may be on the pricier side). A lot of various food stalls to select from, and definitely worth trying them out. We went before breakfast, so we got different food as our breakfast.

A tourist got to do the tourist thing… so we drop by to have a look.. we were there around 1-2pm on a Sunday and notice slowly some stalls have started packing… still there were many other stalls to check out and to enjoy some ice cream on a cold day in early August 2023.

As you stroll through its bustling lanes, the aroma of freshly baked goods, exotic spices, and gourmet delights fills the air. Big market place for meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits and various things like bags, decoration turners, apparel , souvenirs etc etc . While fresh fruits ,vegetables, meat &poultry are available definitely at much lower prices it’s not so for others . It’s all a cash market . Traders prefer cash and for card payments they even charge extra 1-2 dollars . Bags and souvenirs found even costlier than other markets / mall show rooms

A nice place to visit while in Melbourne. Wednesday evenings there are live music shows and lots of eateries for any taste. The food is a little pricey but that's valid for the whole Melbourne so at least don't expect deals. During the week the market is open in the morning and during the day except on Wednesdays because of the night market. The day market is split in two, a vegetables and fruits side and a crafts, souvenirs, clothing etc. side. You can haggle a little bit but don't expect big discounts. During the day market there are also lots of places to eat.

A must do when visiting Melbourne. Great food and produce. Wonderful market characters. The best Melbourne has to offer In seafood, meat, delicatessen, bread and coffee. Souvenirs and collectibles.

I’m a visitor to Melbourne and I wish we had this market where I live. If I lived here, I would buy all my fruits, vegetables, meat, etc from here. But the fruits and vegetables especially cannot be beat. Come in the morning and get your fresh pick of the produce. Other items on sale as well such as mobile phone cases, clothes, hardware goods, socks, candles, sheepskin covers, carts, you name it. A number of food trucks on site for when you get hungry. Make sure to get some hot jam doughnuts - 5 for $10. Long line but it moves fast.

Buying fresh seafood, meats, fruits & veggies here always is a delightful experience with very reasonable prices especially after lunch over the weekends on both Saturdays & Sundays. Scotch fillet that I recently bought here has turned out to be some lovely dishes at home including the pan-fried steaks & roast beef.

✔️😍 It is one of the most iconic places in the city. In summer you can enjoy the market at night, while in winter it is during the day (check days and times). You can try flavors from all over the world, listen to music and buy gifts or souvenirs. It has a relaxed but quite busy atmosphere. Without a doubt I recommend it. you can follow me 🤙🏽🤙🏽
