A brilliant few hours spent wondering around Old Gippstown. Really interesting historic buildings, signage and information boards. The staff on reception were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the entrance fee was very reasonable. There's a cafe on site too, and dogs are allowed in the park on leash. Plenty of see here and very highly recommended!

We had a great time and our 7 year old son loved it as well. It was great to see all the original buildings and the original contents. Straightaway the Redgum transporter with is the trunk wheels was so impressive. One of the other highlights were the ducklings, pick up some feed at the reception on the way in.

While going to Victoria we seen a old bank building and later we find that it was part of old Gippsland, so we decided to detour, it's also amazing to see such old houses, of course they made from wood, old steam car, plough, wooden horse cart etc, it's so neat and clean, but closes by 4pm

Father's Day Car Show. This was a really fun way to spend the day with family and even more so on Fathers Day. I expected it to be busy given the amount of classic and vintage cars that were going to be on show and it was absolutely packed.  I hadn't been to Old Gippstown before and it was fun trying to imagine what it was like minus those gorgeous cars scattered everywhere. I'll definitely head back one day when nothing is happening to check the place out, but it looks like a really cute little spot to spend a couple of hours.  I would imagine throughout the week parking wouldn't be an issue with many spots available in the front car park. We had about a 10-minute walk from where we finally found somewhere to park, so that wasn't too bad.  What was a surprise and also a little disappointing was the minimum 20 minute wait for a coffee from the cafe.  Old Gippstown regularly holds weekend events so surely during an event like a car show or anything for that matter the organizers have some idea of how many people are going to be coming through those gates. Which means most of them or at least half of them are going to be headed to the cafe.  The cafe staff were doing their best, but they were getting slammed and it was like that for most of the day. Wouldn't it make sense to have a reduced set menu on days where foot traffic is going to be huge? And possibly put some more staff on as well… it's not rocket science.  With the many options available on the menu and the amount of people waiting for food and coffee it's a recipe for disaster and very unhappy customers.

I'm a teacher and we took 75 Year 3 students and they absolutely loved it! Andrew was extremely helpful with the planning and my many questions. The activities were engaging particularly the school lesson with the grumpy headmaster and the fire truck ride. They also made up some great gift bags for a small fee for our students. I would highly recommend this place for an excursion. We want to go back next year.

An old style small town, great experience for young children to check out. I went as a parent helper for a grade 1 school excursion. The staff were lovely.

Perfect way to spend a few hours, great preservation of a wide range of types of buildings and homes as well as a Cafe if you need a break. The grounds are beautiful and really easy to navigate and move throughout. Highly recommended if you're in the area, enjoy Victorian history and have a few hours to spare.

Very enjoyable and well worth a visit. Unfortunately for us some exhibits were locked like the general store and homestead but still plenty to see. We exited the grounds around 2pm to find the restaurant almost out of food and no English breakfast tea or iced coffee but we got some good tea and toasted sandwiches at very good prices.

Been here so this is actually the second time, still loving it and will always come back everytime we pass this area, entrance only $10 and you can spend 2hrs here looking into every single building, its dog friendly and very spacious. Dont forget to have lunch at the cafe, they have scrumptious food 👌😋

Spent the afternoon wondering around Old Gippstown with three of my grandchildren and they loved it. They were so amused at what we "used to do in the olden days". We had afternoon tea once we were finished and that just topped off a lovely day. Well worth a visit.

Definitely worth a visit. Very interesting and learnt a lot about our local history. Very grateful that we have such a place, and the hard work of the volunteers. Staff were welcoming and friendly. It does need a bit of a tidy up, such as removing piles of broken bricks, old pipes, and cleaning cobwebs off windows. Wouldn't take more than one day to do it. Entry price was low, and would be happy to pay more to visit such an important place so that it can be kept maintained.

Wonderful hidden gem that is not remotely like a constructed theme park. It's real & it's welcoming & it's all about giving people a glimpse of our past done in a subtle way. The Latrobe creek rambling through the town, water birds and random old trees add even more. The night markets are magical.

  • 5/5 Janette S. 2 years ago on Google
Very compact. Can see all exhibits without too much walking but still enough space between so no crowding. Information provided on each building very interesting. Cafe food quite affordable but basic.

This is a great place to go to when you want to catch some history. The town is purpose built for storing and showcasing old relics from Gippslands and surrounding areas past including buildings and old wares.

Brekky was very good. Had the triple 2 breakfast which consisted of 2 poached eggs on toast, bacon and a sausage. Everything was perfect. Good customer service. Will go there again

Very cool!!! A whole bunch of charming olden days buildings that have been relocated here from around Victoria to create a historical village. A bit like Ballarat but without the mines. There's a nice cafe. Definitely worth a visit if you like a bit of history.

Fabulous place. Lots of old buildings from the Gippsland area. Many are furnished from the relevant era. Very interesting signage about and numerous beautiful old carriages. Well worth a visit for the family.

Called in here to use the public rest room, put some rubbish in the bins and get a drink from Macca's next door. Unfortunately Old Gippstown was closed even though it was only lunch time on a Saturday but looking through to the buildings it looks super cute and very fun to imagine what life was like all those years ago. Would love to come back when I don't have my dogs with me and view the buildings from the inside.

Lovely place to visit, soak in the atmosphere of bygone days and for photography. I keep going back. The cafe could use a little improvement: longer than normal waiting times on food, and the food portions are a bit sparse.

Went to Old Gippstown on a public holiday and was shocked to find it nearly empty. It's a fantastic treasure trove. I was especially impressed to duscover what pre-fabricated small town lock-ups looked like. Accidentally stumbled on one hundred year old saddles from the Australian Light Horse. I would like to go back and see some of the things I missed. The only thing I would have liked to see was people demonstrating things and explaining all the exhibits.

  • 5/5 Giulia M. 4 years ago on Google
Amazing place, it's definitely worth a visit. Reconstruction of an ancient local village. You can enter the buildings and see plenty of items from an ancient era. E.g. school, church, drug store, fuel pump, and so forth. Not to be missed if you are in the area.

We preserved old buildings. Saving a lot of the local history. Unfortunately there was a wedding on that day so our visit was brief and rushed

Very enjoyable place to visit, nicely laid out with lots of fascinating displays. We went on a Sunday morning and surprisingly had the whole place to ourselves. More people need to know about this place as it's great.

Great display of old time shops being consolidated into a little town. Very well done. Cheap entry and cafe on site. Allow at least an hour, but to see all the details in each place - probably 2hrs or more. Kids playground and games in the woolshed for them too.

I didn't realise just how much there was to see here! It's on a much larger scale than I anticipated it would be. My family and I enjoyed our time stepping back into Victorian times and would definitely go back there again for another visit. Even the entry fee amazed me at how very reasonable it was. I'd highly recommend spending some quality time at Old Gippstown.

What can I say, I recently had my engagement party in the function room here and Andrew was amazing. Very accomodating and went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly. Would definitely recommend for a function up to 80 people. A amazing venue for Moe.
