I recently went to visit Fed Square in Melbourne, and I was absolutely amazed by the amazing architecture and atmosphere. The plaza is located in the heart of the city, and is a great spot for people watching. There are a variety of restaurants and cafes, and I had a great lunch at one of the restaurants. The atmosphere was really relaxed and the views of the city skyline were breathtaking. The Fed Square also has lots of public art and sculptures, and a variety of events and activities. It's a great place to spend the day, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Melbourne.

There are always something happening at Fed Square. Sports events on the big screen or singing and dancing on the stage. This week there is the 'Rising' event in Melbourne and there is a light show at night till 10 June. There is the ice skating rink down by the river and across at St Paul Cathedral, there is also a show like an 'animated moving wall' and at the Melbourne Concert Hall, colourful projections on the wall.

Among the many beautiful places to see, this is one of a beautiful city delights in Melbourne City. Located at the heart of city centre, very picturesque; concert hall; skyscraper lookouts; restaurants and cafes near by, and many more to see. This place is never silent, always filled with people, city folks; events and activities. This place is alive day and night.

Iconic place in the heart of Melbourne. Often has many different events and pop ups attracting all walks of life to it. Also a nice place to relax/chill and enjoy the Melbourne skyline. There are some pretty cool bars/restaurants on the riverside but also interesting museums and galleries near the square itself

Federation Square is an amazing open public space in the very heart of the city opposite Flinders Street Station and on the Yarra River.  But it's more than just a city square!  As well as the cafes, eateries and galleries, there's always something interesting on and you can also check ahead online with the events and festivals schedule.  The architecture is also very interesting.  We love going there whenever we're in Melbourne.  A visit is highly recommended.

Fed Square is a central place in the heart of the city opposite the Flinders Street Station & is a popular meeting place for people in the city. It opened in 2002 and holds many events and activities throughout the year. There is always something going on here so worth hanging out. The Atrium has amazing architecture has art galleries, museums and restaurants as well. Highly recommend this place to spend some quality time with friends and family.

Excellent Christmas tree and display here, one that rivals Martin Place in Sydney. It’s a nice place to sit and relax, there’s the big tv also. The Ian Potter Centre is very underrated, under promoted but highly recommended. Perfect location as it’s across Flinders St Station, NGV and Yarra river to name a few. My only criticism is I wished it was maximised to the fullest, I wish there were more staged events and more buzz in general.

Great place to visit when wanting to go for a nice walk and enjoy the weather. The set up is quite nice, they have placed loungers around the area for people to just relax and and appreciate the surroundings. However, There could’ve been more chairs for people. Lovely area to take the kids to have a little run around or take a stroll along the Yara River.

Great outdoor space for catching up with friends and family. They also host a range of international festivals. Fed Square is just across the road from Flinders Street Station. There are a few toilets at Federation Square. The most convenient one is the one next to 7-11.

Federation Square is an interesting architectural artistic spot in Melbourne opposite Flinders Street train station. OK forget walking about it in high heels or crutches or moving around it in a wheelchair but aside from that.....yes visit. One of the best restaurants I have been to, Taxi Kitchen, is there and you can also visit ACMI for their latest exhibition, watch an event on the giant TV, eat at one of the many restaurants, visit the NGV pop up or just wander around. Lots to see and do.

Fed Square in Melbourne during the Christmas season is a mesmerizing spectacle of twinkling lights and festive cheer. The vibrant ambiance in the heart of the city creates a delightful experience, making it an ideal destination for anyone seeking the holiday spirit. The combination of the iconic architecture of Fed Square with the warmth of Christmas lights contributes to a magical atmosphere, fostering a sense of joy and celebration. The lively vibes make it a perfect spot for both locals and visitors to immerse themselves in the festive season. Whether you're strolling through the square or enjoying a cup of hot cocoa at one of the nearby cafes, the Christmas lights at Fed Square add an enchanting touch to Melbourne's urban landscape.

Federation Square is a place open to the public, there can be presentations of all kinds, a giant screen for sports, stage events, and it also shares a place with good entertainment venues and its museum that you should visit. It is the reference point for everything. In December visit its giant tree with music and its spectacular decoration.

The artistic design choice makes it formidable and astonishingly beautiful. It has definitely accomplished a grounded design, with no negative qualities. The abstract exterior makes it all-the-more admiring. I have not been so satisfied in my life to see a structure. I wish for Melbourne to proceed its artistic abilities.

MEETING PLACE IN CENTRAL MELBOURNE Fed Square is nestled on the edge of the city centre and has a range of attractions and eateries as well as being "the" city square. Always busy and offers great views. Immediately opposite Flinders St train station and serviced by trams on both Swanston St and Flinders Sts.

Federation Square is an interesting site. It had people divided over its design from the very beginning... which is funny when you remember that the Sydney Opera House had the same problems 😉 This is a good outdoor meeting area, as it's located right next to Flinders Street Station, and has a number of activities and facilities located right next door. I like meeting up with people here, and I like the unique design of the buildings (based on mathematical principles or so I was told). Love this city!

At other times there can be performers and musicians. Some small street food stalls are within throwing distance of main square. Currently lots of construction on the north western side.

Lots of events here at fed square. Check their website for event calendar. Tai chi every Tuesday here. Easily accessible by the trams or train. Some construction going on near the St Paul’s cathedral edge of fed square so pedestrian la need to detour when walking between flinders station and hosier lane.

Fed Square, an iconic destination in Melbourne, is a sprawling area spanning 7.9 acres that captivates visitors with its remarkable architecture and vibrant cultural scene. It is the ultimate hangout spot, drawing people from all walks of life to immerse themselves in its lively atmosphere. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the Diwali event at Fed Square on November 4th, 2023, and it was truly a feast for the senses. The event showcased a rich tapestry of cultural performances, with videos and pictures capturing the essence of the festivities. From traditional dances to mesmerizing music, every aspect of Diwali was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The food stalls at the event were a delightful treat for the taste buds. Offering a wide array of delectable dishes, they allowed visitors to indulge in the flavors of India. From aromatic curries to mouthwatering sweets, the culinary offerings were a true reflection of the diverse and vibrant Indian cuisine. In addition to the cultural and culinary delights, Fed Square had various stalls dedicated to entertainment. These stalls provided a platform for local artists to showcase their talents, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. Visitors were treated to live performances, art exhibitions, and interactive activities, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. However, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the breathtaking fireworks display. As the night sky lit up with a kaleidoscope of colors, the crowd was left in awe. The fireworks served as a grand finale, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed the spectacle. Overall, the Diwali event at Fed Square was a resounding success. It not only celebrated the cultural diversity of Melbourne but also provided a platform for people to come together and embrace the spirit of unity. Fed Square continues to be a beacon of culture and entertainment, and I highly recommend visiting this iconic destination to experience the magic for yourself.

Federation Square, located in Melbourne, Australia, is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. As an iconic cultural and architectural landmark, it offers a vibrant and bustling atmosphere with a wide range of attractions, events, and amenities. One of the notable features of Federation Square is its unique architectural design. The combination of modern and unconventional structures creates an interesting and visually striking setting. The square is comprised of a series of interconnected buildings, open spaces, and outdoor plazas, which provide a diverse range of experiences. The square is home to a variety of cultural institutions, including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia. ACMI showcases the history and art of film, television, and digital media, while the Ian Potter Centre houses a vast collection of Australian art. Both institutions offer engaging exhibitions and interactive displays that appeal to art enthusiasts and history buffs. Federation Square is also known for its lively events and entertainment. The central outdoor plaza often hosts concerts, festivals, and public gatherings, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors. The square's big screen, known as "The Edge," broadcasts major sporting events and cultural programs, drawing large crowds to enjoy the communal experience. The square boasts a variety of cafes, restaurants, and bars, making it an excellent spot for dining and socializing. From casual eateries to upscale establishments, there are options to suit every taste and budget. Many establishments offer outdoor seating, allowing visitors to soak in the atmosphere while enjoying a meal or a drink. However, it is worth mentioning that opinions on Federation Square are divided. Some people appreciate its architectural uniqueness and the vibrant atmosphere it provides, while others feel that its design is too contemporary and clashes with the surrounding historical buildings. Additionally, the layout of the square can be confusing for first-time visitors, as it does not follow a traditional grid pattern. In conclusion, Federation Square in Melbourne is a dynamic and engaging destination that offers a mix of cultural attractions, entertainment, and dining options. Whether you're interested in art, film, or simply enjoying the lively atmosphere, the square has something to offer. Just be prepared for its unconventional design and the potential for differing opinions on its aesthetics.

Was in the city recently seeing some theatre and on the way back to Flinders Street we went on a detour through Fed square and saw the Christmas light set up. They've got music and lights and activities for the kids, would recommend coming to see it if you're in the city during the holidays

The relaxed seating has been s good addition in recent days - allows you to lay back and enjoy the sumptuous food around around the outlets, and the big screen.

Good to take a break in city. I like the grass area in the ground. And I visited Santa before Christmas. It was really nice.

The undulations and surface changes make this space feel much bigger than it actually is. Though I'm not sure how an Apple store, bringing even more people into the City, is worse than food trucks. Yep, food trucks. That's the level we're aiming to show off to visitors to the city. Haven't seen Apple customers at Chadstone asking for spare change or screaming a random passers-by. With the 2nd MSIR soon bringing more gems of society to that part of the City, reckon Apple dodged a bullet. Be careful what you wish for.

A nice place with interesting surroundings to enjoy a walk or the lively atmosphere, especially in the late afternoon to evening. It's easy to reach by trains (just the opposite of the Flinders Street Station) or many trams.

This place is having all that you want to spend a wonderful day at. There is space for kids, adults, older people and even your pets. Grab some coffee, put your shades on and sit back down on a sun chair and show gratitude for all you have in your life. It is also a highlighted spot where famous protests are held to grab attention from people around that place. It is easily accessible. Catch a train from your nearest Railway Station and take the City Loop metro to the Flinders Street Station. As soon as you get out of the station through the Flinders Street exit, fed square will be in front of you.

Fantastic outdoor space for sitting, chilling and enjoying the day. The Square is located opposite Flinders Street Station, so sit here to watch the flow of people passing and the trams going back and forth.

Worth a walk through, or a longer linger, if you wish to visit a museum, gallery, cafe or bar. The architecture is intriguing and modern. The large, fixed public television screen, digital facade, which livestreams sports and broadcasts news and major sporting events, is apparently the biggest broadcasting screen in Australia. There are areas and seats to sit and relax.

Amazing place to just sit and admire the city. The place often hosts events, open air movies. It’s lovely around Christmas.

Very nice, easy to navigate around. Plenty to see and do, plenty of food and social venues. ACMI in the SBS building was great.

Umm weird place! Few trees and green in general. It feels too "cementy". There are cafes thank goodness though you need some luck to find a place to sit! As for parking you need to pay of course.

At the Coach Bay 1, Federation Square, there is a free shuttle bus service to Chadstone. It is really convience and comfortable. The bus driver was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend to anyone want to go Chadstone from CBD.

We loved Melbourne, fantastic city, great food, trams, sites but Fed Square on Christmas Eve was CROWDED! Millions, we didn’t dare to go close….. I walked around it early morning next day, nothing much to see …. Not sure what’s the hype about? Or did I completely miss the fed square and saw something else 😂
