Ferndale Park is quite large with a sporting oval, and shared walking and cycling tracks (Ferndale Trail), as well as a kids playground. It also has some, but limited, seating and public toilets. There are some good cafes like the Pantry and Has Been close nearby on Glen Iris Road. The park is home to St Marys Salesian Amateur Football Club, Ashburton Willows Cricket Club and Ashburton Junior Football Club and it gets quite busy when there's a home game on. The main problem at this park is that parking is very limited.

Nice footy oval in the green parklands. There is something for everyone here. If you have little kids their is a playground, a cafe opposite or a running track if you are that way inclined. The only issue is the oval itself is quite small and the manual scoreboard is a bit old school. But a nice ground nonetheless.

If you're of out of choices, and thinking about which park to go to, Ferndale park is the one for you. It has got expansive grounds, excellent childrens playground, huge oval, AFL goal posts, cricket nets, turf cricket pitch, massive parking, public transport access, public toilets, bike trail and an amazing cafe right next to it. It also is only 300 metres from and amazing BMX park called Hill 'n' Dale park. The playground is full of fun activities for people of all ages and abilities. There is also the Glen Iris Scout club there. Overall, Ferndale park is a great park where you can spend a few hours with the whole family or plan a picnic.

Another sensational park/playground in Glen Iris. This would have to be the kids favourite one as there's lots to climb, jump off and swing on. Not to mention the epic sandpit. The kids also love watching the local AFL games, and enjoy bike rides along the Ferndale Trail with the rainbow lorikeets.

Nice park land with a good playground and a large oval for kids and dogs to run around. Close parking too. Park is connected to a series of other parks so you can go for a nice long walk. Heaps of dogs and runners and cyclists though so it can get very busy. Cafe right across the road has decent coffee and an outdoor seating area. Overall lovely area to visit. Look forward to next time.

Beautiful nature reserve in the heart of local suburbia. I love the trees, plants and walking paths.

More of a walking track than a park. Although I guess the large oval is the park. Or something. Probably great for a walk.

Muddle puddle and ships ahoy, here there's quite a lot of joy. Close the gate and run right at it, have some fun but watch for static!

Great park. Plenty for kids to play on. Parking may be a battle. Toilet wasn't as clean as it should be.

Great footy oval. Albeit a bit small for senior players. Council keeps it in good nick.

Really a cricket pitch surrounded by a sports oval for kicking footy/soccer! Nice playground for kids & there is a public toilet. It is a popular congregation place to have your caffeine hit with friends esp. during our Locky D's. It is on the Gardiner's Creek - Ferndale trail which joins Anniversary trail further on. Great mid point stop if you do the whole 8 km trail circuit!

An integral part of the general Gardiner's Creek walking track taking in all the green flood prone waterway areas from above Summerhill Rd, basically leading to the Gardiner's Creek walking track itself. Magnificent semi rural tree and bird life. However, bicycle riders who think they own 80% of Melbourne's walking tracks, not to mention the road space given them by the State Government should be banned from using the walking track. They ride flat out, act as if they own the Track- Wrong- and significantly detract from the enjoyment of walking in this area . If they want to join the real world, just use the Monash.

We watched a great game of football between Ashburton Redbacks and Camberwell Sharks. The ground was muddy in patches and made conditions tough for the boys. Waterproof shoes/boots if you are intending to play on the field after wet weather.

A "Mud pit" needs work to ensure the grounds are well drained.

Very good playground. Has a nice swing where u and ur baby can sit and swing together. That's our favourite. Also great for picnic. Hard to find a bench on weekends but there is lots of shade if u being a picnic mat. Also good path for walking.

Nice park. Decent Riding and walking/running path. Drinking taps around the oval if you forget your water bottle. Just beware the mama possum and her baby if walking at night.
