I was on my way to the supermarket, but thought maybe I should do a little detour for exercise. I stumbled upon this little botanic gardens that I never paid a proper visit in the neighbourhood. Suddenly my name became Alice and I got so lost in this amazing Wonderland: so many beautiful Australian native plants! I lost the track of time, didn't hear the bell and had to be let out by the kind gardener.😂 This is a priceless gem in a nice suburb. Now I don't have to go all the way to the Melbourne Royal Botanical Gardens just to see Australian plants.

Great variety in this garden and a pleasant and quiet walk around. It has many branching paths and a beautiful array of plants and areas where different plants are situated. There are benches to sit around these gardens and a bathroom within them as well. Connected to Beckett Park — if you want parking, navigate for Beckett Park and you should be able to find the parking lot. Wonderful break from the usual sights. Loved my visit here!

Great little place to wander around and enjoy yourself on a nice day. It's a beautiful place with a little creek running through and lots of native flora and fauna. Public toilets are available at Beckett Park next door and there is even an open day, which is a great opportunity to check out the park with guides. Would absolutely recommend taking the time to visit.

Must be a well kept secret bcos a friend who loves walking & lives in Balwyn has never mentioned this stunning, beautifully maintained Aust native landscaped garden! If it was not for me searching for a central spot to catch up with friends from eastern suburbs - I might have missed this gem altogether! Maranoa gardens & Beckett Park are joined together. Main parking area for both is at end of Parring Rd. There are other points of entry from side streets. On a gentle sloping hill which adds interest & the tiers for the various types of flora (arid, rainforest, heathland etc) & undulating walking trails. With all the rain - everything is green, lush & native flora is in gorgeous bloom! Kudos to the hardworking gardener I met today who was happy to share some knowledge. This is a serene oasis with sounds of nature. Don't miss the goat trails under canopy of massive trees. Almost all trees & shrubs have info plaques which is so handy for the garden enthusiast. Follow the sound of running water - you will be lead to a flowing creek & lil billabong aptly named Maranoa Waters. Kids will love it & hopefully are well behaved! Leave it how you found it for all to enjoy. Wide expanse of lawns for picnics & water fountains scattered around. While there are plenty of park benches donated in memory of loved ones - there are only a few tables. No bbq, No dogs, No cycling or skateboarding inside this garden. Gates close earlier on weekdays - so take note of the times. Toilets onsite. You can spend a few hours here & combined with Beckett Park - you will get a good workout. Highly recommend 👌 👍

Love these gardens. If you factor in Beckett Park, which is effectively the same site, this is a small to mid sized space, though Maranoa in particular has lots of trails and interesting corners to explore. Some unusual plants and flowers, and a few sections that are ideal for a picnic round things out. There is parking, and toilets (both in Maranoa and Beckett), and a playground in Beckett Park right next door.

Always a delight. The gates don't open until ten and the last two times I have visited did not actually open until around 10:30am. Lots of native plants. My kids loved the rainforest section when they were little.

Beautiful garden, with a variety of indigenous and native plants. Nicely carved paths for a relaxing walk. It has a small rainforest feature which is amazing for a place so close to suburbs . Had a wonderful evening and plan to go again...

Plenty of parking and a quiet spot at the end of Parring Road, this park is full of a huge variety of fascinating Australian plants. The shapes, sizes, colours are amazing. This is a great place for walks and relaxed gatherings; there are lovely green lawns and beautiful huge canopy trees. Be sure to bring the insect spray; the mossies are thick and fierce. But don't let this deter; this park really is worth a visit.

Maranoa Gardens is a small hidden gem. Small winding paths through Australian native plants lead to a couple of open grassy clearings. Ideal for a stroll or just to sit and read.

Even in summers the place is beautiful. Calm and peaceful space to spend a quality time with your family and loved ones. The Boroondara City Council is really taking good and effective efforts to maintain the garden. Indigenous and native species are exceptionally well preserved and presented, all the plants are nicely irrigated and a person with office is always available within the business hours. Definitely a place to be and spend a leisure time.

Beautiful native gardens in the Melbourne suburbs that make you think you are in the country. Lots of shade and easy walks and a small creek and rain forest to enjoy. A great introduction to Australian flora for visitors to Australia with the plant information well signposted.

Impressively stocked botanical garden. Lots of small winding paths to explore. A bit too densely planted possibly. Would be nice if the toilet wasn't locked.

A wonderful Australiana garden to meander through with a tiny bubbling brook resplendent with a bridge. Beckett Park with playground for the children ended the day perfectly. Thank you Boroondara Council.

A gem hidden in the suburbs - a bijou botanical garden with lots of native plants and trees, as well as an arid indigenous garden. There are plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful gardens comprised of native plants from around Australia. Some very interesting and unusual specimens that I'd never seen in Melbourne before. We also saw gang gang cockatoos. It's a pretty small space but arranged in a way that you can explore for quite a while along the winding paths.

Beautiful spot for a picnic. Unfortunately we could find only one table. Lots of people also eating their lunch on the many seats around. People walking and enjoying their surroundings

Does not live up to expectations, although the planners have put in some effort… There are better parks out there.

The Maranoa Botanical Gardens are stunning with Spring colour. Such a restorative escape in Suburbia. Beckett Park Indigenous gardens are wonderful to wander and appreciate this natural area.
