Fantastic place for a hike! We did the peak and as warned it is quite steep and took our unfit selves way too long but we made it and the view was totally worth it! Lots of dogs because it is allowed but note that there are no bins so you have to take your rubbish home with you. Also note that there are many walks and some are flatter than others, like the big rock walk. There are some BBQs available. We went on the weekend so it was very busy and parking was difficult to find.

The best thing about this park is the location - the drive isn’t long enough to tire you out! The walk up Flinders Peak was strenuous, nothing they didn’t warn us about though. But the view was worth it. Also, there were so many dogs! Parking was hard, I think it was because we went at the start of the long weekend last week. I wish there were a few bins on the trail…it would encourage people to pick up after their pets. Also, there were no water fountains anywhere on this long walk. I hope Parks Victoria is listening. I would still go back though, with a little prep the experience was enjoyable.

Great exercise for the kids! We went when it was slightly showering and it was still good! Actually glad that it was cool! Rocks can be slightly slippery so be careful and always stay on the path! We only did 1 trail before the kids got tired but it was pretty cool. Views when things cleared up where awesome too. Saw a skink sunbathing in the rain which was funny. Maybe it was thirsty and the spider webs with raindrops on it was actually cool to see.

Gem of a place! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves walking about in the natural bushland. Dramatic landscapes and awesome views. We did the East-West Trail which skirts around the peak, and the Flinders Trail which takes you to the highest point itself. Toilet facilities and plenty of parking available.

What an amazing area. Excellent access and really close to Melbourne. Loved the trails and the vegetation. Spring is a cracking time of year to go with all the wattle and rapeseed. Saw some dogos and people picnicking. You need to take your trash home with you. Parking and toilets available. We did a 10k loop and saw this really cool aboriginal rock artwork near the end. Leave from the turntable Carpark for good summit access.

This is a great place to go for a hike. It is dog friendly as long as you pick up after them and ensure they are on a leash. There are different trails for those more experienced and fit but I like the look out at the big rock. Im always seeing families there having picnics and going for hikes.

Beautiful serene walking trail. We had an amazing weather and did the 1.5km walk. Not a steep climb. Easy walking for kids & adults alike. Plenty of free parking available. There is a parking ahead from the spot too which is where you can sit to eat. There are 2 entrances to this hill. We missed the first route and ended at the second. The first one is for walking and the second route is for biking. Thankfully one of the bikers guided us to the spot we missed. Ensure that you carry your own food as there are no eateries for quite a distance. Overall a beautiful trek with great views.

There's a nice 5k trail here? Lovely views of the surrounding areas. Try visiting when it's sunny to see everything. My parents are pretty unfit but they managed to do the trail as well. There are public restrooms at the start of the trail as well. Bring some drinks and sandwiches because there's plenty of spots on the trail where you can sit. No camping allowed though.

Perfect for all fitness levels, pet friendly a great day out to bond catch up literally and take in the natural beauty. Rich of culture and history I love the fact all you see is bush and open lands. While getting a great work out in. Closely located just out of Geelong

Absolutely great place for hiking. Not very far from CBD. It can be a easy one day trip. We went early morning near 8am on weekend, it was not too busy at that time. Plenty of parking space was available. The best part is, it is dog friendly park and our dog loved it as well. Toilet is also available near car parking. Will be visiting again. Highly recommend. 👍🏽

Great free place to go for a hike or a picnic especially if you are in the west of Melbourne since its just a short drive. Very popular and crowded on weekend. You can bring your dogs too. There are 3 car parks from the bottom to midpoint of the peak so you can choose to park where you wanna start your walk. Toilets and picnic tables and chairs are available at each car park. Big rock walk is best for family with kids as its just couple of steps from the car park. Plenty of picnic slots with bbq and fire pits too. We did the main walk from the bottom car park to Flinder peak. 8.7km. Took us around 1.5 hrs to the top with resting and photo time and 45 mins to get down. We are quite fit and average hikers.

Did the Flinders Peak walk (4kms) on a warm and sunny winter Saturday. Was a lovely walk, took an hour round trip. Beautiful views of nature and of the city in the distance. Free parking, access and toilets. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved the trekking. Went with our tiny humans, for our first trek ever, but worth it. It was indeed tiring but its okay, you can take small breaks in between. Make sure you wear active wear, and keep a water bottle and wipes if you have kids. A small bag to carry all the necessary stuff. There are several picnic areas, with bbq pits. So you can make a whole day out of it. And its a public park, which is free! 😎

A short distance from the western suburbs and a nice trip if you want to enjoy some nice scenery with different hiking options. From easy to a level many elderies would struggle you can spend 2 to 3 hours in a nice area. Toilets are available, a small cute Milk Bar on the way allows to stock up on a few water bottles or snacks. Good for a Sunday afternoon.

I had a nice hike here on a beautiful day. The trails are good for both beginners and intermediate hikers. There are plenty of places to stop under the shade trees and large rocks to climb on.

Flinders Peak Trail is an easy to medium walk with some tricky sections to navigate. However you will be spoilt with nice views along the way up to the peak. There are seats scattered across the trail to allow for those that wish to rest or take a break for something to eat. A viewing platform mid level allows for a photo opportunity. Highlight is reaching the peak offering 360*c views which is simply breathtaking.

Amazing place to hike casually with a friend or group. Good views too which is always a bonus. Take your time and have fun chatting. Also I recommend going multiple times and completing every route! When I went here, we had a Kangaroo pop up out of nowhere. 2 others then came up behind us 😐

Such a beautiful place for families or friends to meet up. Plenty of BBQ places well spaced throughout the park area, so you won't feel like you are in each other's way. The key feature for kids are the huge granite boulders for discovery. Bring your own fire wood. The You Yangs tower over the park, making this very special.

First time visit here and won't be the last! Not far from Melbourne, you can actually have clear views of the Cities Skyscrapers to the East on a clear enough day. We visited on a winter weekday when it was cold and very windy, especially up on the exposed peaks. It was still moderately busy with quote a few walkers, mountain bikers etc. Great natural environment, lots of Birdlife, stunning scenery and views from the higher parts. BBQs, shelters, picnic tables and clean, modern drop toilets are located near all the car parks we visited. The park is popular of rock climbers and it can be quite entertaining watching them abseil down some of the large rock formations.

An easy skip and jump away from Geelong makes this one of my favourite weekend places to visit to get my hiking fix without having to travel all the way to Grampians. The You Yangs has more than enough trails to choose from and most present between a moderate to easy level of challengeness (probably not a word but lets go with it). If your visiting during the warmer weather make sure you've got some water on you if your planning to be more than an our. It can get quite warm and sweaty on the path, and no one wants to drink their own sweat by sucking their t-shirt dry.

Views are 10/10 even from the carpark and it gets better as you approach the peak. Definitely fun to bring the dogs along to hike up too . Very well maintained and beautiful park.

A great variety of hikes in the area, and the ones we did were just great right level of challenging for us. Lots of people walk their dogs on the tracks which is great to see, all very well behaved! BYO water as we couldn’t see anywhere for refills (which we expected) and it is well worth the hike up to the top of Flinders Peak. We did that walk just after completing the East West walk, combined it took us about 3 hours. Amazing views! Toilets at the site and ample car parking.

Lovely place for a walk/hike. Many trails to choose from for all ages and abilities. Very dog friendly.

  • 5/5 Caleb P. 2 years ago on Google
Awesome area for hiking. Completely dog-friendly. Multiple picnic areas. Flinders Peak hike is 1.6km from Turntable carpark and has great 360 degree views. The East West walk is a 4.5km trek that circumnavigates the peak and offers great surrounding views. Both hikes are relatively easy. Some steep rocky sections.

  • 5/5 Sunil S. 3 years ago on Google
This park is excellent for the many bush walk paths. It's good for kids as well, but I wouldn't recommend for children below 5 years. It is not pram-friendly as well. We went on a volunteer-led bush walk through You Yangs Park up to the Big Rock. We enjoyed views from Big Rock and the flora along the way. The walk from the car park to Big Rock is a easy-medium difficulty walk that includes small hills and uneven ground. There are a couple of toilets and water fountains near the car parks. I hear the Flinders Peak walk is more difficult and rewarding. I plan to do that next.

Nice goto place if you want to warm up and do a small hike, it has a trail that will get you to the top for 30 to 45 minutes and there's another long trail. A good place to reconnect with nature and see birds eye view of metropolitan melbourne and surrounding western suburbs

  • 5/5 Bilian L. 2 years ago on Google
Short drive from Melbourne and amazing for hiking. There were lots of different walks but we went for the Flinders Peak walk. It has some steep steps but overall the return walk is manageable within 1.5 hours even if you take long breaks. At the end of the walk you're rewarded with breathtaking views of Victoria. Parking was easy to find too although it was slightly crowded.

  • 5/5 Yangyv _. 2 years ago on Google
About an hour's drive from the CBD, the you yangs regional park is a stunning nature trail. It takes approx 1.5hrs to walk all the way around but the trail is well defined throughout even in rocky areas. You can see both Geelong and the CBD from the side of the mountain. Just make sure to bring lots of water and a hat, trail is of beginner level. A lovely day trip get away from Melbourne :)

A fantastic place to get out and walk, hike or mountain bike. We parked at the office car park and did the Big Rock walk. We then continued on and did the Flinders Peak walk, which was quite challenging as lots and lots of steps up a steep incline. Well worth the effortt hough for the great views.

  • 4/5 Colin E. 1 year ago on Google
Great place for a picnic and the views are to die for. Hard uphill and rough walk from the upper carpark to the summit but if you're reasonably fit it's well worth the effort.

Take the East West trail if you want to avoid the crowds on a busy day. It's also a good mix of up and down, as opposed to the Flinders Peak walk which is all up for 25 minutes, and then all down. If you have the time, hike down from Turntable to Bunjil Geoglyph.

The You Yangs is a perfect place for a hike/picnic lunch to see a variety of stunning views (of nature and surrounding townships) so close to Geelong and Melbourne. What can I say, I think you all need to get out there and experiance what it has to offer to take my words of advise. But very well maintained park with regular maintenance on steps and hazardous areas along the trails. Amazing views but ideal to get up there early as parling is limited and fills up very fast.

Enjoyable walk up to a nice view from the peak of you yang ranges. Only a short walk overall, but definitely offered some interesting landscape. The area was extremely busy at the time of visiting, and would be nicer if there were less people around as a whole. After the walk there are many picnic options, with a variety of fireplaces for cooking, places to sit and some barbecues around.

Great place to go for a bush walk during lockdown. Maybe avoid the BBQ areas at lunchtime to maintain social distancing. No special footwear required, runners are fine. We did big rock and the main peak for 10 k's taking about 2.5 hours taking it pretty easy. Take your rubbish home with you.

Carparks do get crowded though. 40 mins from Melton.
