Originally built to house the Japanese department store Daimaru, Melbourne Central is now a bustling centre with the Melbourne Central Underground Metro station underneath it. Stunning central void with an extraordinary, massive, cone shaped glass ceiling soaring over the old heritage listed Shot tower building. The Centre is a popular tourist destination with a huge range of stores, theatres, cafes, restaurants, cinema complex etc.

Melbourne Central is a diverse shopping and dining destination that invites you to keep exploring. Bringing together more than 300 retailers over five levels, Melbourne Central is home to a range of Australian and international fashion brands from Nike, Country Road, Forever New, Gorman and Bul to Vans and Nique. Take a sugar break at Cupcake Central, a beauty break at Mecca Maxima or Sephora or some indulgent time-out at Self Centred Medi Spa. The buzz continues after dark with Hoyts Cinema, B. Lucky & Sons, Strike Bowling, The Pancake Parlour and Asian Beer Café on Level 3. Spanning two city blocks, the centre boasts several unique architectural features including the giant Marionette Watch hanging in Shot Tower Square, famous for its hourly rendition of the Australian anthem 'Waltzing Matilda'. The square is named after the historic Coops Shot Tower a bullet-making facility built in 1889. Today, the brick shot tower stands proudly in its original place, protected by a modern twist: the magnificent Glass Cone, designed in the '80s by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. While it floods the centre with natural light, the Glass Cone's design also makes it one of Melbourne's most recognisable landmarks. Melbourne Central is convenient to get to, being located atop the City Loop, with Melbourne Central train station accessible via Lower Ground, and the free city circle tram route at the centre's doorstep. Melbourne Central boasts 822 car parks making it the perfect base for Melbourne city excursions. The parents' retreat offers a sanctuary for families, while The Little Library free book exchange and Link Bridges provide spaces for pause and escape from the city's frenetic buzz. Whatever brings you to Melbourne, be it shopping, exploring, lunch, brunch or simply an unexpected adventure, it is all waiting between Lonsdale and La Trobe.

Melbourne Central is an impressive shopping and dining destination located in the heart of the city's bustling CBD. The mall offers an eclectic mix of fashion, homewares and lifestyle stores, as well as a great selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. The open-air layout of the mall ensures that you can always find someplace to sit down and relax, while the unique architecture creates a beautiful atmosphere. Shopping at Melbourne Central is also convenient, with lots of parking and easy access to public transportation. All in all, Melbourne Central is a great place to spend the day and I highly recommend it!

Mall in Melbourne's CBD. Interesting mall. There are many well-known tenants such as Levis. Many visitors. Food courts available include Thailander, Mc Donald, Little India and I tried dinner at Thailander.

We spent a fabulous 5 days trip in Melbourne from 6-11 January this year. Melbourne is truly is one of the most livable cities in the world. We had so much fun there. We loved the free green zone tram system. The foods were so good from corner kebabs stores or restaurants. We can’t wait to return for another visit ! I personally admire their historical buildings a lot 👍

This railway station that used to be known as Spencer Street is Melbourne's central public transport hub. The main station for both Metro and Regional trains as well as the terminus for interstate rail services. This also the main drop off point for the Skybus airport transport. Easy to get around and even easier to find where you need to go.

They may have hard chairs made out of tiles but the variety of food shops makes sitting at them worth it. That's only downstairs near the rail station. There is hours worth of exploring to do including some unusual and unique things such as the tower and the clock (worth the wait to see it strike). There is wheelchair access to all areas and clean toilets spread throughout.

Located in the heart of the city, Melbourne Central is a convenient one-stop shop for dining and shopping. Understand that the tower is where they used to drop the liquid which forms the ammunition for guns. Really awesome that they preserve a piece of history by repurposing and really amazed how they can build a mall around the historical building.

Melbourne Central. Meet up place, taking your lady love or lady friend at night. Great place to go shopping, and dine in. Did you know Mr. Nice Guy Jackie Chan's film 1997 was filmed in Melbourne Central, the rest of scene was filmed around in Melbourne and few place in Melbourne. I love you Melbourne Central!

Great shopping center with Cinema, food court, restaurants, JB, easy parking because it is expensive , easy to access by train or tram. Bridges linking with other malls, it combined a great shopping when raining. Toilets are clean. Every hour the clock will present a small show. It is the iconic location and photo point.

We've returned to Melbourne again to celebrate a friend's birthday. Melbourne never lets us down. There is so much on offer and activities to see and do. It's such a short trip from Adelaide for us, so never an issue to come. We did actually come here for the Moulin Rouge performance. Absolutely 💯 outstanding and the Regent Theatre just suited it down to a tee. We went to the Melbourne Museum to see the Titanic Exhibition, it was spectacular. We weren't let down with places to eat either, so much variety to choose from. Thank you Victoria for giving us a great time away again.

I loved the building in the shopping centre,we just entered and I saw it and was in shock. They also have an over sized clock that plays a show every hour and chimes every fifteen minutes. But the shops I saw in the mall were not good shops. No Kmart, target or even big w in this massive store I don’t think I overly cared about any store in this shopping centre besides the Lego store.

Central is great, everything is here and transport is really easy. Just don’t drive because it will cost you a fortune. It’s a great place to shop but prices are a bit inflated at most stores compared to the outer suburbs. It can be a little complex to navigate sometimes but I think that’s because it’s an older building and there isn’t a lot of floor staff around to help you if you get lost. Security is great and they are always walking around so I feel safe in general. Overall easy shopping experience in the heart of the CBD.

One of the iconic shopping places in Melbourne. My favourite places here are RM Williams (their best store in Melbourne with Made To Order available here), Chatime near the train station & the new Adidas Originals store. The Lion Hotel is a nice spot for a drink and watch a big fight. The Coles downstairs next to the station is an excellent addition and great to do any last mins shopping before heading home.

Many lovely stores under one roof, a variety of foods to chose. The musical clock is an unforgettable moment for tourists. Male sure to visit. Every hour the clock plays 'Waltzing Matilda' while its base lowers to reveal Australian flora and fauna.

Melbourne is a well planned and well laid out place in Victoria. Victoria was once a mining place for which lots of miners and mining workers were brought from all over the world. Now no much miners left. Mostly all educated expatriates with respectable job lives there . The cost of living is higher than Sydney. Photo shows the Ballarat Garden and Sovereign hill where Gold mine was there and now a place to visit , to see and search for the gold .

A brilliant place to shop, such a variety of stores I still don’t personally know all the shops there so I’m never bored if I’m shopping haha. Great food spots just an overall winner of a spot in its entirety. I’ll add there is also the la Trobe street medical (I believe) inside the chemist on the left and a Dentist located elsewhere in the building. Thanks

Good for locals and tourists but nothing too special unless you’re into history. Recommend going to QV and Near China town if you’re a tourist. If you want pretty city photos then go to South Yarra around Dusk, it’s quite beautiful for photos.

Great mall. Really big, can be challenging to navigate given the expanse. A good range of stores, and a decent selection of restaurants. Very well served by public transport, with the City Circle and 4 suburban tram lines right outside, and most metropolitan train lines stopping directly underneath the centre at Melbourne Central station. A bunch of good food and drink offerings in the ELLA precinct, alongside the cinema. Indoor connectivity to the neighbouring Emporium complex, allowing visitors to walk from Melbourne Central station through to Bourke Street Mall via both David Jones and MYER department stores.

This palace is basically full of everything you could want to find. The layout is... Unusual, so a few times I've walked up and down looking for something the directory was vague about. However it is clean and well maintained and there is variety in everything. The massive clock is also good if you haven't seen it at the tolling of the hour.

Love shopping here. Theres the Hoyts Cinema on the top floor, below it is the food court, train station on the lower level. And all around is shops galore!

I was trying to find Vodafone Central at this train station. Due to the renovations. Made it a buy confusing to find Vodafone. Happy to report made it on time for my 10:00 appointment. I like the convenience of using this train station to get to and home from the Melbourne CBD

There are plenty of shops for everyone, obviously more suited to women like most S-Centre's. Not exactly the best layout as it can be difficult finding particular stores or Public toilets. Most positive aspect is the Melb Central Station makes easy access for shoppers.

Love the vibrant and colourful vibe. Despite the late hour, the mall was full of people shopping for food or clothes. A strategic shopping mall with Coles and access to the underground train station in the basement and countless fashion clothing and make-up shops.

Really busy. Lots to do. Shops, cafes, restaurants and cinema. I would say it's touristy as well.

Pleasant mall with an glass encased iconic clock tower. It sits above the train station and has a Coles supermarket. There's lots of dining options, a cinema and and great retail tenant mix. Good place for students to hangout. Below the giant clock is an easy meetup point for friends

You can feel the fashion energy in this buzzing shopping heaven! It is easy to miss because from the outside it looks like a simple entry but once inside you can shop for blocks!

Melbourne central is the best because the best thing that I like is the clock and when it gets to any hour it makes a song.
