I was having my mango loco drink at Box Hill Central, trying to enjoy it, but pigeons were a real problem. They weren't just hanging around – they were gobbling up people's chips in the food court. Pigeons were standing on tables and even flapping around, making a mess. The food court, supposed to be a nice place to eat, turned into a bird battleground. The smells of different foods were overshadowed by the chaos caused by these birds. It was kind of gross seeing pigeons on tables and leaving their mark on everything. Box Hill Central needs to do something about these pigeons. It's not cool to have them taking over the eating areas. People want to enjoy their food without dealing with birds and the mess they bring. Fixing this pigeon problem would make the place way more pleasant for everyone. This is an utter disgrace, disgusting to eat here, bad smells and pigeons everywhere. Get me out.

This place is amazing. So many Asian restaurant in the mall. They also have supermarkets and fresh foods. Easy excess to public transportation and connects directly with train as well. Couple of western fast food available around. Price for the foods and goods is reasonable too. Must visit if around this area.

Compressive and diverse food, grocery and all rounded offerings. The passageway leading up to Coles in the basement is a well crafted space.

Box Hill is a bustling suburban center located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It is a vibrant and multicultural area, with a large Asian population and many authentic Asian eateries and shops. Box Hill has undergone significant development in recent years, with the construction of a new shopping center, high-rise apartments, and improved public transport links. The heart of Box Hill is its bustling shopping and dining precinct, centered around the Box Hill Central shopping center. Here, you will find a wide range of shops, including major department stores, supermarkets, and boutique stores selling everything from fashion to homewares. The dining scene is equally diverse, with many authentic Asian restaurants and eateries offering a range of delicious cuisines. Highly recommended.

Box Hill Central has been refurbished to catch up with other shopping centres. Much nicer and neater with good air circulation. Several upmarket food venues popping up. Carpark still a big issue on busy days and hours.

Box Hill was such a lovely place before. The Whitehorse plaza had a fountain and was beautiful 33 years ago. They renovated and added Box Hill Central. For a while it was great, especially for public transport users. Then a lot of shops started changing and the Asian shops came in. More and more until I felt like an alien foreigner in my own country. I no longer go there because I feel so unwelcomed, so uncomfortable, and etc. I have lived here for 33 years, born here in Melbourne, I should not be feeling like this but I do. Just look at the people, there should be a mixture of different cultures but now its dominated by one.

Honestly for such a hyped up place, i expected a bit better cleanliness, the food court floors and tables are always dirty or sticky, getting stuck to your clothes or hands. NOT AT ALL, the fault of the cleaners, as they were working incredibly hard, but there was only one cleaner that we could see, at peak shopping time who was working so hard, but alas the amount of people coming in and out was too much for anyone person to manage to keep the place clean.

Everything goes up so much everywhere. The central has done renovations recently and got a face lift. There are high rise buildings all around. Occasionally you may get some bargains on meals etc.

Almost all shops of shops I've been to have charged surcharge, including fast food, market, and bakery. It's good to see Boxhill station didn't charge surcharge on topping up my myki. "Make sure always bring cash when you come to box hill"

For a popular place with lots of shopping options and especially Asian food, I felt the management needs to make sure the amneties are well looked after and clean. I do understand the place gets super busy but I think its quite not there if toilets are that disgusting, no signs for blocked ones and ugh... I lost my appetite that day. I hope it was an isolated event though. Besides that the place is buzzing, food court is appealing and has access to bus and train services via it's complex. Nice.

A predominantly Asian and Chinese influenced shopping mall adjacent to the somewhat more modern Centro shopping mall. There are also other great Asian influences, including boutiques, restaurants, cafés and eateries in the surrounding area. Atop the Box Hill railway station, this shopping centre still retains a somewhat retro vibe.

Box Hill Central was recently renovated. There are Coles, Woolworths, chemist warehouse, Priceline, Specsaver, Myhealth Box Hill, Breadtop, Bonbon, Macdonald and many others. You can find wide variety of Asian restaurants and Asian grocery stores inside the mall and surrounding it. This place is always busy, parking can be a challenge during peak hours, free parking are limited. There are $1 per hour parking inside the mall.

It is a big China town. Large market area is a good place for fresh fruit/vegetables and groceries shopping. Also lots of meat, poultry, fish shops to choose from. Many Chinese restaurants surrounded make it more attractive. Good location and easy public transport. Actually it is built on top of the train station and also a hub for major buses.

Convenience, it has bus, tram and expressed train to CBD. The city is a bit old and a small. Good place for Asian grocery, food and restaurants. Walking alone outside the shopping can a bit unsafe at night. Highly recommend you don't leave valuable belonging in the car at the underground car park.

Fair variety of Japanese & Korean products, however there are no price tags so you have to ask the staff for the price. Came across an unfriendly & inpatient & impolite salesperson (Kathy appears on the receipt). My shopping experience there was unpleasant, will not visit there again !

Can be very difficult to navigate. That's my biggest issue. You can follow all the signs, yet still not find your way to where you're going. There are some great shops here, however, albeit a little overpriced. Location is convenient too.

Please come here if you’re looking for somewhere that’s different (In a significant way, though...)! The parking quality is also excellent… no matter what, you can always find a parking spot here!

This part of Box Hill is the transport hub for train and bus services but also a great place for tantalising Asian food aplenty. There are so many small food stalls l would call them for eat in the food court or take away. So many interesting looking stall menus which l feel that there would be something for any appetite.

Look everything about boxhill as an eating heaven I really love! There is a variety of Asian Food and desert. But the toilets especially the one near the men’s haircut store and opposite the myhealth clinic in boxhill central needs to be clean, sometimes no toilet paper sometimes stank(in need of an upgrade too)

I would put no stars if I could. This place smells so bad. I thought it was just the first level but no every level the smell got worst. It has to be checked out because it couldn’t at all be safe to have a shopping centre smell so badly I walked out after 5mins I couldn’t handle it. I find it weird you are stared at and hated on for not being Asian I mean we are in Australia. Seriously though I’ve put in a complaint with the health inspector because whatever is going on in that shopping centre needs to be checked out the smell is beyond explainable. How does everyone keep shopping and working like it doesn’t exist?

A shopping centre packed full of many different stores (some with an Asian preference, so if you like Asian groceries you'll be happy here). The local train station is underneath, a team line runs just down the road, and there's plenty of parking available. Plus, you still have access to plenty of stand-alone stores as well!

My go-to place when I need to do Asian grocery shopping. Always big purchase, lots of yummy food, fresh vegetable, fruits. I wish it's renovated better as Doncaster or Glenwavery shopping centre to be more enjoyable and spend more time and money.

  • 4/5 Zachary C. 2 years ago on Google
It has most of the stuff you'd expect from a shopping center but it lacks a department store like Big W or K Mart, but it has an integrated train station, so if you want one of those, just go a few stops up/down the line and you'll probably find one. Or drive for like 10 mins, because such stores aren't too far away. This place has really good Asian restaurants though. I suggest carrying cash, as many prefer it as a payment method. My personal suggestion is Kitchen Republik, I've got a review for that up already but the short and skinny of it is that it's kind of like a syndicated mini foodcourt with a unified menu that lets you buy from any of the places within it. One of the few places in Melbourne that sells authentic Xiao Long Bao.

It's actually pretty cool here. Probably my favourite shopping district. So many unique stores. However, this place has 1000% more potential. I hope the planners and management can figure it out. Look to the major cities people. Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing. We can do so much more here.

Good for Asian grocery shopping including cheaper veggies as prices in supermarkets are climbing up the walls. There are many food stores to choose from and bubble tea places. Parking can be an issue here. Most of the time people just pay for parking as you are guaranteed to get a spot.

Box Hill Central is having good branding stores. You will get to see an amazing view while sipping up your coffee. The only worst section was washroom. Was not at all cleaned, not maintained, hygiene was not maintained. That was the most yucky part. Rest is good place to seat and work with laptop. Quite spacious.

Has become rundown, needs a rethink as to the lack of variety in the shops. Box Hill has a very high population of Asian people with heaps of Asian cafes serving beautiful meals. During my working days I had many of my daily meals here, the different cultures were greatly appreciated. Now it's all Asian except for the very popular Subway outlet. I enjoy Asian tucker but cannot have it everyday.

Box Hill Central has been improving so much in many ways such as the interior, cleanliness and quality of merchandise. The restaurants inside the mall are quality ones, which benefit us customers. This is truly “one stop shop” for Box Hill residents and general public nearby. Parking could be challenging, feeling like driving in Asia. All in all, we love Box Hill Central and hope they continue striving for more happy customers. Highly recommended 👍

Its a good experience for box hill central, being through it at different times of the day but it is quiet busy all the times due to easily Availability of every sort of outlet which is much beneficial in term of time-saving. Say catching a bus and having food can be at same spot. Supermarkets and chemist warehouse is also available for emergencies.
