Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre

Shopping center

😠 Stumbled on this place by accident, poor signage from the road. Was heading to Dan Murphy's and saw the rest of the building. Interesting history at this site, used to be an old Boral site I believe. "Sustainable" building perhaps, but many of the shops are far from being eco-friendly. Many shops... People often mention shopping, centre, parking, shops, good, friendly, nice, shop, great, building,

New shopping centre in Burwood on the site of the old Brickworks. Super green construction, one of, if not the most, Eco friendly building on the planet at the moment. Being so new everything is sparkly clean and fresh, the whole place is quite novel, including the rooftop farm which several restaurants use the produce and animals from. Readings has a cinema multiplex as a substantial part of the building. Woolworths, Dan Murphys, green grocer and Asian grocery, Ben and Jerry's, medical Centre, butchers, as well as a lot of restaurants and Cafes on "Eat Street". Parking underground and above ground.

The worlds most sustainable shopping center! Tons of restaurant choices, the best Woolies for miles with a super friendly staff. Dan Murphy’s, a medical center and a super cool Yoga studio. A bonus Ben & Jerry’s ice cream scoop shop open till late daily! They also do ice cream cakes! And one of the best cinema experiences with Readings Premium cinemas! Oops almost forgot the Acre Rooftop Farm to table restaurant! Great for young families and small gatherings!

Stumbled on this place by accident, poor signage from the road. Was heading to Dan Murphy's and saw the rest of the building. Interesting history at this site, used to be an old Boral site I believe. "Sustainable" building perhaps, but many of the shops are far from being eco-friendly. Many shops have been vacant for over a year. Maybe no one wants to come here, it's a bit quiet and underwhelming. Not one, but TWO gift shops, both selling cheap and poor quality synthetic products from China, one of them selling tobacco and vape pens to boot. The upstairs "farm" is a gimmick, more like a regular vegetable garden with some quails/chooks. Come around to my place, I'll show you a real urban farm in me backyard! Other shops are overpriced and/or of no frequent use e.g. Japanese homewares? Optometrist? I'd go there maybe once in a year. No post office, no newsagent, no dry cleaner, no restaurants, no food court. Only overpriced cafes, bakery, a sushi shop and a fancy "pub" that's way too expensive. Toilets are dimly lit, smelly and not maintained well. Apart from the Woolworths, there's no real reason to come here.

Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre Visit Update 2/5/2021 After spending some time checking out the nearby retirement village, I drop by to the shopping centre. It is fairly quiet, inside and outside the shopping centre. I decide to have a good look of the roof top cafe cum garden called Acre, which I shall review it separately. ___________________________ Visited on 27/2/2021 It is still fairly new, mainly serving the local community. It is not very big, but has all the right combination of stores, including Woolworth supermarket, Asian grocery, Dan Murphy's, bakery, butcher, eateries, beauty parlour, yoga studio, urban farm, medical clinic and cinemas. It claims to be the most sustainable shopping centre in the world by aiming to achieve certification. There is a void in the centre, and the ceiling is a fabulous mural of indigenous design. I do have an undescribable mixed feeling when I visit the shopping centre.

Nice little centre with large woolworths, cinema and numerous other shops. Went here for food and they had great options with good parking too. The outdoor area is nice where the restaurants are and there are plenty of places to sit and have your pets as well which is great. Would definitely recommend.

Nestled in the heart of Burwood East, Melbourne, Burwood Brickworks isn't just a shopping center, it's a lifestyle oasis! Picture this: massive, free undercover and outdoor parking to make your shopping spree a breeze. With an array of shops ranging from Asian groceries to cinemas, you'll find everything you need under one roof. Feeling peckish? Satisfy your taste buds with an international culinary journey - Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Western delights, and a charming cafe await! But it's not just about shopping and dining. Burwood Brickworks is pet-friendly, so you can bring your fur baby along for the fun. Need a quick trim or a pampering session? There's a barber and nail salon on hand to keep you looking fab. For those health-conscious shoppers, indulge in yoga or swing by the optometry. And don't worry about essentials; there's a pharmacy, Woolworths, and even a Dan Murphy's for your convenience. With seamless public access via Tram no 75 and Buses 733 & 735, getting here is a breeze. Burwood Brickworks isn't just a shopping center; it's an experience designed for you. Shop, dine, relax - all in one place!

A small mall but full of good stores. Even has a Ben and Jerry’s. Very new and clean to the point that it was unimaginable (the toilets were cleaner than the ones at my house 🤯). Great suburban and eco friendly desig. Multiple playgrounds for kids to play in plus a huge outdoor park. Good parking with a special place for bikes.

Very small shopping complex but has a very modern woolworths , lovely shops and nail salon and gift shops. Lots of great restaurants and cafes. Upstairs has a lovely garden and plant area. Beautiful Cafe with indoor and outdoor Eatery. Specialises on fabulous large toasted sandwiches and delicious cakes. Coffee very nice.

Delightful to see a shopping centre built and operated on sustainability principles. Good range of shops and eating places. Rooftop gardens and cafe are definitely worth visiting. Amazing to see a productive veggie patch and greenhouse on the building's roof. Sets an example that others can follow.

This is the first time I went to this shopping joint. Feels fresh on Saturday morning, not many shops are open just yet. I went to Woolies for a quick shopping trip in preparation for cooking my family lunch. Get what I need with the help of friendly staff.

Definitely not your average shopping centre. Good variety of shops for everyday needs. But the rooftop garden and greenhouse inspired cafe, and interior design really make this centre stand out. Also great integration with neighbouring apartments make this a convenient local shopping destination.

Great facilities, free open co-working space, water stations, variety of goods sold, surrounded by Brickworks' low-rise apartment buildings and its park and playgrounds to walk around and enjoy. Great potential rooftop cafes and farms, while there is also a good outdoor food precinct surrounding on the outer side. Could benefit from more visibility and marketing.

Good concept of a building with the standard grocery/shops ie Woolies, Dan Murphy’s, butcher, few eateries (soon to check out). I’m not a local but went in for a look around as it’s a dog friendly centre (which more institutions should adopt!). Many other dogs were also around which is adorable.

A cute and modern mini-shopping centre, I'm jealous of those who live walking distance away from it with its big Woolworths, no waste grocery store, bakery, Asian grocery, butcher, $2 shop, cinema and restaurants. I appreciate it's dedication to being eco friendly and as green as possible, more centres need to incorporate roof top gardens too! It's not the kind of shopping centre you'd go to for killing hours with browsing, but it has everything you need. It's worth traveling for the cinemas alone!

An interesting shopping centre. The biggest draw are may be the Dolby Atmos in cinema 1 at the Reading Cinema. Has 4 hours of free parking. There are 2 parking areas, 1 that is on ground level on the south side of the building and the other which is below the shopping centre. There are 2 ways to access the below ground carpark one is on the north side and the other on the south side. The parking below the centre has the read green lights to help show if car Parks are available. There is a medical centre on level 1. Level 1 has Acre Restaraunt which has a view. There is a viewing area on level 1. In the undercover parking there is a massive bicycle parking zone with poles to lock your bicycle to. For motorbikes there are some specific parking bays in the below ground car park not far from the northern car entrance. There are 4 charging bays located in the north west corner of the underground carpark. Of the cars using the bays none were hooked up to the chargers. Several cars parked in the charging bays were not electric cars.

My favorite local, such a gorgeous building, love the concept behind it, love that everything is super green, so many plants everywhere, so much innovation in one building, all the accessible bike storage in the parking is wonderful. Love how dog friendly the center is, and obviously it is at the discretion of each store whether they’ll be allowed in. The new indoor playground addition is great for kids, plenty of food options in and around, if you choose to walk around then there are plenty of picnic area options too

Okay, I didn't know a place this beautiful and peaceful exists in metro Victoria! I absolutely love the cleanliness of the toilets, the roof garden, and the outdoor seating options. The food options are of good variety here too, and parking is very reasonable with up to 4h free in the basement parking of the shopping centre. I came for a meeting, and wished I lived nearby!

Great shopping centre. My only issue is there is a playground outside of woolworths that is quite clearly for small children I would say under 7 or 8... the issue here is that small kids play here then a bus load of primary kids get dumped at the playground while there parent/s go to woolworths which cause safety issue for the small ones. Multiple mums I have spoken with all leave around 4 as it's not monitored nor is there an age limit. I would suggest centre management looks into this. This play area is fantastic when the small ones can play.

Its a real shame the eateries at Brickworks are soooo bad. Seriously the shopping centre has a lot to offer but why are the food options to eat out so bad. The cinema is brilliant (food options not the best McCain pizzas) but because of the lack of good food options - the place will struggle for that dine out/movie experience. Camberwell Junction has the perfect food options but Cinema is no where near as good as Readings! We need even a good quality pizza pasta restaurant at Brickworks!

The shopping center is impressive with its brand-new facilities. There's an asian grocery store inside, though it may not match up to the ones in Box Hill in terms of quality. Also, it's worth noting that the car park is consistently busy on weekends.

  • 4/5 Caitlin T. 1 year ago on Google
Love the variety and eco-friendly vibe this place has to offer. Parking is always good underneath. One negative is that it really smells inside! Strong compost odour, I wonder if this can be rectified as there are a lot of plants in and around…?

Purported to be one of the greenest shopping centres in the world, and yet very little evidence of that, other than a shabby rooftop cafe with some shrubbery. A massive disappointment.

Nothing is crowded weekdays in the middle of a pandemic surge, but this shopping centre definitely has a relaxed atmosphere (apart from the parking which was strangely full). With the added cinemas it should appeal to a younger clientele. I was intrigued by the fancy butcher shop that sells aged beef from slabs sitting in glass fronted chilling cupboards.

  • 5/5 Jay 1 year ago on Google
Design wise, this is probably one of the nicest and best executed shopping centres in the city. Not huge, in fact it's pretty tiny, but for a Shopping Mall it actually has a nice vibe about it. A few nice eating and coffee spots around the outside and in the rooftop garden too.

Return visit. Came for winter lounge and raindeer petting during school holiday. It has been the most green shopping centre filled with plenty plants on most areas and roof top filled with plenty and variety plants. Can find everything we need in this place, groceries, butcher, green shop, massage, nature shop, ice cream shop and of course reading cinemas and cafes on the roof tops. Definitely recommended.

First visited the information area and then we went on a tour led by (the lead?) architect. The effort used to create a fantastic, sustainable building is incredible. So many features...recycled materials, rooftop garden, water saving, recycling etc etc.. You notice how fresh it smells immediately. They have supportive tenants who follow the ideals. Definitely worth a visit for some shopping and eating.Step up to the roof as well

Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre is my preferred place to go Shopping. Canning meats is top notch, the Woolworths is clean and well stocked, and the Dam Murphy’s has a better locally-brewed beer selection than most. Access and parking is easy, and the Eat Street is nice as well.

Park under the Center for four hour free parking - the time limit in the outdoor parking is much shorter. Or better still, use a more sustainable way to get here. There’s substantial bike parking inside, and it’s close-ish to the tram. The landscaped outdoor area is prettier every time I visit, and the rooftop is work seeing just for itself.
