2022 Update I cannot recommend Earthbound Bolton. I have attempted to order food here 4 times over the last 6 months, each time they have been closed during their stated business hours or have closed the kitchen very early. __________ 2019 Excellent new cafe in Eltham that I found whilst searching for Vegan options on Google Maps. We ordered the tabouli & falafel salad + the Southern fried cauliflower, both delicious. The Cauliflower was exceptional - we will come back and get that again. Awesome hospitality as well. Thanks Earthbound!

I didn’t expect to get the best hand cut chips (home made) anywhere in Melbourne (...make that in Australia) in a suburb of Eltham. No offence to Eltham. But seriously... the chips are the best I’ve ever had. Period. And the aoili was fresh and garlicky. Wow!!! Had the Vegan feast breakfast which was also spectacular. But I can’t stop thinking about those hand cut chips. And I only ate them 10 minutes ago. Drive here ...do it.

I’m not local but came to Earthbound after reading a blog that highly recommended the cafe. My partner and I were so impressed. We are fussy with our coffee, only drinking organic and fair trade coffee, and Earthbound serves just that. My partner had the Calamari Salad, which was presented perfectly and tasted supberb. I had the vegan burger, also presented perfectly and super tasty and filling. Worth the drive to try, wish it was local to us!

My wife and I had a lovley time at Earthbound. I got one of their specials, my wife ordered off the menu and we shared a side. The tea was in a BIG pot so that was awesome. My latte was warm and creamy. The nachos were delicious and full and great value. The southern fried cauliflower pieces were wonderful. And the beans were very nice. A great cafe with lots of options. Definitely going back!

Service was excellent, very attentive without being intrusive, smiles and friendly banter. There are some lovely murals in the walls with native Australian animals, very cute. A little shelf of toys for toddlers and we just let her play on the floor beside us, no one minded. The coffee was just okay. The breakfast burger was tasty, but texture was a bit soggy, like the relish had been sitting on the bun for a long time or maybe the bun was a touch undercooked... The big breakfast was very nice though, and we will be back with our toddler in tow.

It was very quiet on the day we were there, there was no chef and so only prepared cakes on offer, I had been looking forward to some cooked breakfast e.g. eggs and bacon. We visited, checked in and I paid by phone. Arrived at 9:09 and left at 9:31

Third visit this week to this newly transformed space. Great to see the fire going on a chilly Saturday morning, making the plate cosy and warm. As usual we were warmly greeted by friendly upbeat staff. We are slowly working our way through the menu, and haven’t been disappointed yet; in fact, we’ve been amazed at how good it actually is. Today was the cauliflower salad and southern chicken burger - we chose these based on a recent blog we saw by the Spcie Adventuress - as per the blog, every bite was amazingly delicious. The coffee is reliably good each time and it’s great to see organic products used across the board. A new favourite for us.

Eltham! Eltham! Eltham! Give this place a go! An amazing new little gem hidden away near the Endota Spa on Bolton St. After having their offerings pop up on Facebook and Instagram lately, we had no choice but to get in and try it out. The food is just as fantastic as it looks, better in fact. Being a miserable Melbourne day we went for the Ruby Latte and the Hot Chocolate to warm us up with our food. Both were delicious. Staff we’re friendly, knowledgeable and on point with everything as expected. Will definitely be returning.

The food was good and very nicely presented. The staff were all very nice. However...if a food inspector came in and observed a waitress to be carrying a toddler around on her hip. Taking orders. Clearing tables. Bringing food to people. All with child attached?? There are OH&S standards and food handling standards. Carrying a toddler around meets none of these. No babysitter? Fine! Put the child in a pusher ..but not on your hip whilst walking in and out of a kitchen and serving food. It's all sooo wrong..for the clients and the child. And the toilet seats need to be changed.

My second visit & will be back many times over. Free WiFi (& a peaceful environment conducive to work). I ordered the big breakfast. The home made rosti & the Boston beans were delicious. Pleased to see despite new ownership the place is still kid friendly with books & games & also a change table. The menu really caters well for vegans & other dietary needs.

The best Cafe for a family with many different dietary requirements! Happened to drive past your Cafe and your name intrigued me. After a quick browse of your website it was clear I had spotted the perfect place to take my family for lunch! When they say they can cater for anyone, they mean it! My vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free sister was overwhelmed by how many options she had. And my gluten free brother was able to have Salt and Pepper calamari for the first time in about 7 years. The menu also offered a good old Angus burger accompanied by Melbourne's best chips for my less adventurous father. Service was lovely however the building can be quite hot on a hot day. Overall an absolutely delightful lunch! We wish we lived closer!

An eclectic menu of vego delights. I am not vegetarian myself but it's refreshing to see a unique and interesting menu and i will be back to sample some of the other menu offerings. I had the turkish eggs which were colourful and tasty all with fresh quality ingredients. The service was friendly and the vibe was laid back with an industrial/ grungy fit out. It is also a large space which would work well for bigger groups and has a sizeable outside area for those with dogs or prams. My coffee was ok but a little burnt - there is definitely some flavour in the beans and i'm sure it will be even tastier on my next visit. Overall a good experience and i look forward to returning.

Great menu, huge selection for all tastes including meat, vegan and gluten free. Easily the best menu in the area. We were a group of 5 eating in and everyone was super happy with food and drinks. Great service, outside spots for dogs, lovely Cafe grown veggies. Will visit again. Great job team.

I had a great cappuccino and very yummy breakfast from the cafe today. I was coming after a busy night shift and was extremely hungry and I had the best ever breakfast from here. Very friendly staff and nice ambience. I had the "Bubble and Squeak" from the menu. A must cafe to visit over and over with friends and family. I am extremely happy that I live only few metres away from this cafe. I forgot to take my breakfast photos because I couldn't resist eating!!! Excuse with the coffee snap ; I took the photo after couple of sips 🤭.

The most incredible lunch today. We ordered the crispy tofu burger and the calamari salad. Both were perfectly executed and delicious. The chips with the burger were incredible! Like best in Melbourne! It’s so hard to find healthy food that’s also tasty. But Earthbound deliver in spades!!! I love this place. Family and child friendly as well.

Obsessed with the new take home range. The meals always surprise you, really elevating expectations for plant based. It's always far more interesting than what you imagine and the flavours are so well balanced and leaving you wanting to try some more. I have complete faith now, that whatever I grab from the cabinet I will be satisfied with. The produce is locally produced and seasonal, so you are getting the best vegan fine dining quality at wholesome servings and price point. Just the best. Do yourself a favour. LOVE!

Have clearly noted one of the chefs of this cafe advocating for poor hygiene practices. Nothing more concerning than knowing your food is being mishandled intentionally without any understanding of general antibacterial & handwashing practices. Crikey.

My son and I ate here just before lockdown. The food was delicious, I would recommend the breakfast burger! The staff are very friendly and the coffee the best I've had. There is a lovely warm and friendly vibe to Earthbound, I suggest you check it out.

I like the place, been there few times. Staff is friendly menu is extensive, Yesterday was disappointing, 2 hot chocolates and a small latte, expensive, and made in a hurry, I am happy to pay the price, but if i am paying good money, i want good quality. and i think that's a universal rule.

They won’t substitute allergens for other options. And they were rude about it. Plenty of other good options around to have to tolerate this nonsense.

We've eaten here a few times before but we wont be back. It's clear they care more about their back pockets than looking after their customers. While we were there most recently I sent back my meal after something in there didn't taste quite right. I only had two bites. I let the owner know and she looked at me like I was crazy. She took the meal and said nothing else. I didn't eat the meal, I wasn't offered an sort of explanation or replacement and was met with stares that made us both feel uncomfortable. When we went to pay our cheque they charged us for the meal I didn't eat and was taken away. I was charged for a product I couldn't consume. They need serious assistance with their customer service skills and a class in the law as charging for meals you don't get is illegal. People should know this is what you'll face if you get a dodgy meal.

The wait time is just too long. 40min at lunch for a kids meal is not acceptable. It’s a shame as the food is good and it’s a very convenient location, but we shouldn’t have to wait that long. Food comes out one dish at a time as do the coffees and drinks - why they don’t make them two at a time astounds me.

We have now visited this place a number of times, and have to say, it is quickly emerging as the number one choice locally. We haven’t been able to fault on any level, on any occasion. A fantastic homey family friendly cafe, which is simply welcoming on all levels. It’s spotlessly clean in all areas. The food is nothing short of exceptional, as is the service and coffee. We are simply more impressed with each visit, which we didn’t even think possible after the first. It’s degintiely the go to place on Eltham.

This place does not disappoint on any level. Since opening, I have met my friends with their toddlers here, had lunch with my husband and caught up with friends over a nice warm latte. This is a lovely place to sit and even catch up on some light reading or have a meeting with a client. The murals on the walls are a lovely addition and in keeping with the Eltham vibe. The toilets are super clean, which is a huge plus for me and the food is just divine. I really enjoy trying new things and I can certainly do that here. I’m not vegan, so was initially a little reserved, thinking I wouldn’t like this type of food. I have certainly been proven wrong! The menu changes with the seasons, always using the finest seasonal ingredients and its always service with a smile. Yesterday, I tucked into a lovely trio of mini toasts with various toppings. It was art on a plate. I know I’ll be returning to have this dish again next week. I love the fact, this is a family friendly place where mums can be mums. The owner can frequently be seen with her daughter and chatting to various customers. I have recently read a complaint about this and I couldn’t disagree more. Perhaps they just don’t know what it’s like to be a parent. Luke in the kitchen can always be seen preparing all these tasty dishes for us. If you haven’t checked this place out yet, it’s certainly worth a visit.
