Tender Trap is a top notch fine diner in the suburbs. For starters we had the prawns tacos which are always divine, goats cheese mushroom tart which is too light on the goats cheese (thought this the first time we visited too. Add more goats cheese!), croquettes were juicy and flavoursome and the calamari was ok. Mains were steaks and lamb neck roulade and some sides. We came for a special occasion and advised this on reservation but no mention of it or candle on any of the desserts - it’s these little details that make the experience.

Dined with friends, I had prawn tacos for entree, pork cutlet for main & finished with coconut pannacotta for dessert. I also had a margarita cocktail as my drink. All the food was well presented & super delicious with a great variety of flavours. Service friendly. Will definitely return to try other menu items. A lovely fine dining restaurant in the suburbs.

Simply the best and most reliably consistent restaurant in the Eastern 'burbs. Topped of by a great wine selection. If you want to take friends to a restaurant you can rely on, this is the place to go. Sadly, they will be closing after a final sitting on 25/12/23. A new chapter for them and a little less pressure, but we will miss them

If you are looking for a nice night out.. try Tender Trap! Fabulous food and extensive drinks list. We had the Beef Carpaccio for Entree, steaks for Main with a delicious side of green beans with Chilli and peanuts. Prosecco from Italy was vintage and divine! Need to come back to try their desserts Great service - Chris is celebrating 20yrs here!

We always loved Tender Trap but this time the menu was so good it was difficult to decide. As always the cocktails were delicious - the apple crumble has to be a new favourite

The most wonderful restaurant for fine dining and the most extensive and magnificent wine list in Melbourne. How very sad it is coming to an end but how wonderful my wife and I got to enjoy it for the last 10 of its 20 glorious years. Thank you so much Chris and Helen.

Great food, very comprehensive menu got everything for everyone. It wasn’t busy at lunch time. All dishes were cook exceptionally well. Perfect experience for anniversary with my wife and little one.

Tender trap if the definition of a hidden gem, if your a wine lover near Doncaster this is a must try destination, for everyone else this is the peak of fine dining cuisine with a excellent menu and friendly service, treat yourself to a night of fine food and drink.

To be honest, I have eaten at five or six fine dining restaurants in Melbourne, from the seaside to the city. To put it bluntly, their food is the best and most suitable for Chinese tastes. The price is also the most affordable. My wife and I blindly ordered four or five dishes, and none of them were disappointing. Every dish was delicious! The chef will also help us choose wine and ask how the dishes are like. I just saw the news that his store will be closed for Christmas this year. I’m really sad. This is a real loss to Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Had our annual Valentine's Day dinner here last week and as usual the staff and food were fantastic. Chris is a wonderful host and his staff are a friendly bunch. Definitely one of the best, if not *the* best restaurant in the area 🍽️🍷

Our experience began from the moment we walked in. We were warmly greeted and enveloped in calm, luxurious ambience which was so relaxing. Chris and his staff were generous with their care and attention which made us feel we were amongst friends. The food was an incredible journey! We had the set menu and every course was exquisite! The layers of flavours and the pairing of ingredients made sense and worked beautifully together, we literally savoured every mouthful and didn't want it to end. We could feel the love that went into every morsel they created. Thank you all for a wonderful evening and an exquisite culinary journey!

This is our local "Go to place" for those special occasions. The wow menu, wine list and attentive service make this a special dining experience. I recommend their steak tartare and desserts, although everything I have tried on their menu has been delicious. The high standard has been maintained on every occasion. Highly recommend a visit for somewhere special to dine.

Had a wonderful meal with family. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. For starters we had Salmon Cerviche, Prawn Tacos, Scallops and Goat Cheese Tart, For mains we had Steak, Arborio rice, prawn spaghettini and duck breast which were all delicious. This innovative, loving depiction of modern Australian ingredients is a jewel. Every dish was so intricate, so well-thought-out that it leaves many other fine dining experiences in the dust. The meals have been driven by intense thoughts and careful sourcing. I celebrated my birthday lunch here. An absolute stand out experience. Food was exceptional, service was impeccable, friendly and relaxing, with a robust, diverse selection of wines by the glass. My only critique would be the glassware. By far, and I mean really, really far, the best fine dinning restaurant in the Eastern suburbs.

A very formal and very particular Italian restaurant, the environment is very quiet and suitable for dating, the products are exquisite and taste good, I rarely order steak, but the steak here is very tender and tastes good, but the price is a bit expensive, and the service attitude makes you feel uncomfortable.

Beautiful family owned restaurant with lots of attention to detail complimented by friendly attentive service. You will not be disappointed by the cuisine and the 300+ choices of wine. Highly recommend.

BEST EVER DESSERTS. On top of the amazing entrees and mains, it is rare to find a restaurant that finish off with the best desserts. I should just come and have a three course desserts.

A treasure of a local restaurant with excellent food and a superb wine list. The menu changes are always seasonally thoughtful. The food presentation is divine. The awards for the restaurant are not a surprise and we love dining there for a special occasion as well as with visitors. It never disappoints.

It was our anniversary and we wanted a something special lunch. We found the perfect place for it. It was a fantastic dining experience. One would normally find a place like this inside a 5 star hotel or an up-market dining precinct. Certainly not expected in Doncaster East! Chris took us on a great gourmet journey with stunning oysters, rich aged beef, delicious duck, 4 absolutely fantastic matching wines! Service was superb, knowledgeable and helpful.
