👍👍 Where the neighbours go to have a tasty Asian meal! My friends just recently moved to this neighbourhood and together we went on a Sunday explorer mission to find a nice place for lunch. We didn't have to search long as we found Apang Tofu that served our needs and more. Although it's a Malaysian... Personally, the variety is rather wide and the food really have the min standard. Tried quite a number of dishes (as I frequent here quite often) and so far, they all taste good. Prices range from $15 to 18. Yet to try those alacarte dishes (which is from $23). I noticed that there is a slight increase in the prices for appetizer but still OK. The curry laksa you tofu is a must. The restaurant has outdoor seating and really convenient if you are bringing a pet..

One of the best Malaysian food in Melbourne. The food portions are huge and price are reasonable. There are also a lot of choices. You need to visit a few times to try the rest of the food. I will be back soon.

Where the neighbours go to have a tasty Asian meal! My friends just recently moved to this neighbourhood and together we went on a Sunday explorer mission to find a nice place for lunch. We didn't have to search long as we found Apang Tofu that served our needs and more. Although it's a Malaysian place, we ordered Yam Cha style dishes and enjoyed every single one of them. The wok made Indian Mee Goreng with Chicken, Prawn and Egg was amazingly delicious as you could taste the freshness of the tomatoes and the lightly creamy curry sauce. Combined with the dumplings and the satays, it was well enough for the three of us.

Such delicious curry broth to go with my tofu choices. Loved it all!! Service wasn’t exactly with a smile but quick and efficient. Hubby ordered Har mee and enjoyed the prawny broth with noodles. 5* for quality & taste of food

Authentic Malaysian food. We had Hainanese Chicken Rice and Yong Tau Foo with mixed noodles and curry soup. Both were very good. Too hungry at the time so I forgot to take the photo of the noodles. 2021-04-26 Took my family here for dinner tonight. The food was very delicious. New photos added.

Really good hearty Malaysian food. We had yong tofu and wonton noodle soup with prawn dumpling and were so satisfied with our meals. They were so delicious and nice and hot, perfect for the cold winter weather. Staff were friendly too. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed the seafood curry laksa and a mango pudding. The elements of the laksa were cooked perfectly. Spot on with the noodles having a bit of bite in them, seafood too. Soup was good, could have a bit more flavour but was still tasty. Simple but good. The har mee, cham and nasi lemak were described as very good too. I loved that you could taste real mango in the pudding. It was a bit stringgy in parts but worth it because it's real and not just artificial flavouring. Will be back to try other dishes.

Delicious Malaysian (and other countries) food. Nasi lemak was authentic and delicious with the beef rendang really soft. Beehoon with salted fish fried perfectly and have needed heywok flavour. Seafood tomyum soup flavoursome and refreshing. The calamari so crispy outside but soft inside, really good. We also have ice kachang to finish up our dining enjoyment

Had the beef hor fun and salted fish fried rice. They did not disappoint. The beef was tender and the hor fun had good wok hei. It was also not overly heavy on the seasoning. The fried rice was still grainy (as opposed to gluggy lumpiness) and the salted fish was so fragrant and crispy adding to the dining pleasure.

A taste of Malaysia in Doncaster. This Doncaster institution to all your favourite Malaysian dishes never disappoints. Serving up fantastic Char Kway Teow, Yong Tofu or Laksa the menu is diverse and deep enough to find something for everyone. Parking is quite ample in the location, with booking being a definite must on the busy weekends for dinner and lunch. They do alot of take away but honestly you really want to eat it fresh at location. They have seating outside with heating if you cannot find seating inside and with restrictions allowing them to open up more seating I have noticed it has been much much easier to drop in during the weekdays.

Delicious food, great service and reasonable prices. Overall a great place for a good meal. Went over to this Malaysian restaurant for dinner and was pleasantly delighted. Ordered steamed Barramundi accompanied by some Kangkong and topped with a lapcheong omelette. The fish was fresh and sweet, kangkong cooked to perfection and the omelette was not oily. The staff were very courteous and service standards were exceptional. I'll be back for more. Cheers.

Very disappointing meal. Ordered a beef fried noodle, it was very oily and there's hardly any thing in it besides the noodles. There were just 4 very small pieces of beef and a few bean shoots and springs of spring onions. I've ordered this dish many times and it's never been like this. For $18, they're rather stingy on the beef.

Had dinner here and ordered sambal prawn with rice. The sambal was spicy and lifted the overall flavour to the dish. The fried rice was nice as well. Would I come back to try other dish? Sure I would.

The food here is light, fresh, tasty and feels authentic! The laksa broth is impressively light and does not leave you bloated. The hainanese chicken is incredibly soft, and the flat rice noodle soup option that comes with it has a super tasty chicken broth. The favourites of the meal were the chicken satay (tender and delicious) as well as the cendol (well balanced and really fresh good quality ingredients). This place is packed at 6.30 on a Sunday night so if that is your preferred dinner time then make a booking!

Delicious Yong Tau Foo with curry soup. Rich and creamy broth makes it so satisfying and comforting. Got to choose any 6 pieces of my favourite Yong Tau Foo. Like it this way so I don’t have to stick with certain preset combinations. Fish Head curry with vermicelli is another great dish. Fish was crispy and seasoned perfectly. Was pleasantly surprised that it came with a few pieces of Yong Tau Foo too. Attentive and efficient staffs. Will definitely come back for more.

We come here pretty often last year. Now Ampang Tofu not serving the famous "yong tofu" anymore. Why.... ? So, we order sweet sour pork, ginger duck, vege, fish and squid for 6 people. Serving is so small in ginger duck and sweet sour pork. Won't be back next time without "yong tofu".

Came here for dinner with the family on a Thursday just after 6 and the place was just under half full. We didn't have a reservation but we were accommodated. After 7 it became very busy so if you are going to dine at that time I'd suggest you book. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were seated quickly. The menus had a great selection of dishes with plenty of photos. Prices were reasonable and you ordered by writing down your selections and then handing it to the staff. The food came out very quickly... Like just under 10 minutes. Serving sizes were generous and the food was very tasty. We'd happily come here again.

Always busy during weekend and Don’t forget to always go to the treat table and purchase the goodies before you seat. They gone in minutes.

I’m Malaysian and I find myself coming back here every few weeks. The food is good and service is fast, portion sizes are worth it considering the price as well. You could get a good feed for even $16-20/person if you pick the rice or noodle dishes. I don’t, hence the $20-40 pp spend.

Ampang Tofu is a Malaysian Restaurant with a large selection of dishes. I wish they would rethink their menu, minimise the number of dishes they serve and make them well rather than have lots of different menu options and done just ok. We ordered: Beef & Black Bean Stir-fry 🥩🫘 Beef was tender and we were served a generous amount. The black bean sauce was well balanced and paired nicely with the beef. It is one of the best dishes they cook and we usually order it whenever we dine in here. Seafood Laksa 🦐🐟 Short Wonton Soup 🍲 We had high hopes for the laksa as it arrived at the table, but unfortunately it was a miss. The broth lacked depth of flavour, which was a shame, because the seafood was cooked well. The wonton soup was ok. Finn Bites dining experience 3.6/5 ⭐️ $$ 💵

The yong tofu with noodles in chicken broth is definitely a highlight on their menu. The outdoor seating also a bonus for nice sunny days.
