Really nice friendly service, waiters behaved like they owned the joint (maybe they did?), great tasting local catches, we had The Old School for lunch (pictured). Nice atmosphere, will go again hence the 5 stars

What can I say the food is delicious and the price is definitely great value. Service is good , premises clean and appealing. A healthy, tasty meal, large portions, perfect when eating out can be so expensive, this meal is definitely affordable.

Staff were fantastic Fish was fresh and tasty. Sweet potato chips were really good Atmosphere was great in a COVID return. Chips were like a normal fish and chip shop but not oily. Being really picky, the slaw could have had a little more dressing. Will be back.

Good food and huge plates. You will not starve, that’s for sure. We order salmon, one with green salad and chips and the other with brown rice and cole slaw. The salmon and the salads were delicious and the good thing is that it is open until 8pm !

What a Treasure we dug up with this Amazing Fish N' Chips location. Having lived in the Cook Islands most of my Childhood years, I have had little expectations that I'll ever taste Fish as fresh or well prepared again in my life... however, thanks to having a massive Fish N' Chips craving the last few days, we stumbled upon this treasure chest called Hunky Dory! Portions are absolutely Massive, Prices are ridiculously affordable and the Staff and Chefs... well they just make it all worth your while! They are knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and simply amazing Chefs. Do yourselves a favour and try this place!!! This is the Destination for all your Fish Cravings! Thanks Hunky Dory Team

Used to be our favourite place where we would inhale the salt n pepper calamari. It was always a wow factor when getting our meals, tasted delicious and hot. Now, it looks disappointing. It’s hot but now it’s very oily and everything is an add on for which we didn’t realise. We were greeted by two staff who were great but when placing our order the lady couldn’t seem more disinterested. No eye contact or care. A “next” attitude, even when no one else was behind us. Very strange experience.

Great place for lunch and dinner, in a casual atmosphere and excellent service. Not only do they have excellent classic fried fish and chips, their grilled options are outstanding. Huge serving of grilled flake on brown rice and Greek salad. Bravo to the crew for using tasty feta and olives in the salad. Also enjoyed the super salad option and had a side of excellent grilled calamari. Highly recommended.

It is so yummy with a good varieties. The staff is friendly. I liked the slogan/moto " Family of fishermen". Just my comments: the indoor was the fries smell unhealthy and outside the chairs was uncomfortable.

Hunky Dory is my favourite fast food spot in Melbourne! The food are always hot and fresh. I would recommend the chips and fish warp.

A lunch venue that puts all their soul into everything they provide. Blown away! Around the table, no one walked away with anything bad to say. So, let’s break it down… Atmosphere: **** With the new outside hard-top extension and the amazing layout inside, its hard not to feel comfortable wherever you sit. While the seats are a little hard (and can be uncomfortable for some) and the tables a little awkward to negotiate at times – it still has a way to make you feel social, welcomed, and comfortable to be there. Well Done! Customer Service: ***** We had a large group, and they don’t book for large groups, which is fair considering it was a brilliant weather day and there were 10 of us. It was busy, and when we stated our numbers, it was the determination of not only the representatives, but the manager who (called to arms) accommodated our party, brilliantly. The table was set with fresh water & drinking glasses, menus and buckets of cutlery and napkins. Ordering is at the register (which I don’t mind) – So on order, it took 8 minutes (in peak lunchtime rush) for the dish to come out. That is amazing in itself! It was a tribute to this establishment that all representatives (even the hand off to the manager as a party) was all with smiles and without any drama at all. Really well done! Food (why we are here): ***** Too many dishes to quote on all, so my order was “The Deep Blue” with Greek salad, upgrade to Flake and add 2 Calamari rings. And you get SO much for your money! I couldn’t finish it! Salad: Nice Greek salad with crumbed fetta, was a little lacking in tomato (understandable considering floods, inflation, etc) but was amazingly fresh, tasty and deliciously light on the dressing to allow for all the full Mediterranean flavours to mix. Flake: The batter was a little large and puffy, but it was so light an fluffy that you just enjoyed the crisp texture while the flake flavour took it over. Calamari Rings: As with the fish, my calamari was not chewy or tough in the slightest Chips: Standard local fish and chips style chips; however, why they are deep fried, they don’t over cook them. TIP: ask for it lightly salted for best palette Overall: It’s hard to pass up a good Fish and Chip lunch and if you are looking for one – this is closest thing (if not better) to your local. I have been here a few times and I have never walked away felling regretful of what I have paid for the excellent food & service I been provided. Well Done H.D.!

Been to this joint a couple of times now. Very nice and tasty Flake on both occasions. Crispy batter with a fluffy inside. What I don't like are the yellow chips. Taste ok but the artificial colouring is off putting. On a side note, I didn't like the music they were pumping out of the speakers. Loud and repetitive. I think some old sea shanties would be more appropriate.

Food was fresh and had a fantastic flavour to it. Service was friendly and quick. The chargrilled calamari, cheeseburgers, fish bites, honkey bowls are all quite good. Great place if you are after some seafood.

It was the best fish and chips we ever had. Friendly staff. Delicious food and you can customise dishes as you wish. Highly recommended.

For fish and chips that satisfy, Hunky Dory is fantastic. Their chips are crisp and fluffy without being oily. Wonderful aromatic flake. Their potato cakes are exceptional, too. This gear certainly hits the spot. Friendly management and a nice outdoor dining area are a great touch.

Absolute fav spot whenever I feel like fish! The menu has something for everyone and I always leave satisfied.

The service has always been fabulous here, staff fantastic! The food however this time was average and underwhelming, unfortunately we had grilled salmon and flake and the pieces were so small and extremely thin, the burgers were average and my adult boys wouldn’t go back again for them. Haven’t been here for a while but always remember the food to be extremely flavourful with generous portions. Sorry to say won’t be back. Over priced for portion sizes and standard of meals.

The experience was great. Super friendly staff. Always greeted with a smile. Food came out so quick but the best part was it was delicious. Need more people and seafood restaurants like this. If you are craving fish and chips. Come here!

Fish was fresh and the pieces we received were generous pieces of fish. The chips were really good too. The service was fantastic. We had a male waiter who was extremely attentive and went out of his way to be kind to our kids. Great experience all round!!

My favourite restaurant and the best fish and chips in the area! Each time I go into hunky dory the staff there are always very welcoming and friendly. The fish and salads are always so fresh and the chips and potato cakes are always nice and hot. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough!
