😠 The food itself was actually delicious and the service and ambience was great. I ordered the Spanish tortilla (which I definitely regret) due to the fact that I undoubtedly got food poisoning from this restaurant. I would recommend against coming here because of that. People often mention service, good, great, staff, coffee, delicious, Great, recommend, lovely, menu,

It really feels like a second home when dining here. The warm and stylish interior is the perfect setting in which to enjoy this cafe's delicious and thoughtfully-prepared meals with friends and loved ones. Those who can refrain from impatience and demanding behaviour if staff are under the pump, will have such a wonderful experience here. The people are so lovely. I dare say this is one of the top all-rounder cafes in Melbourne. Pictured below: yummy pea fritter

It was a public holiday and they are packed!! So we sort of got lucky, get a seat for 2 in 30mins. The food was amazing. I had the soba salad and it’s pretty refreshing. My partner had the pasta, definitely spot on. Also they are quick, like... fast. Within 20mins and we got served. Will be back for some other dishes too, the cafe and vibe just look stunning and cosy.

Unreservedly a five star rating. Had lunch with a large group and everyone was thrilled with the food and the service. (Lovely staff.) Plus it’s an open, airy place (great, high ceilings) with some outdoor seating in a pretty area out the back. Small off-street car-park, but it fills fast. Street parking is okay too.

Vibes! Great food, super service, and such a thoughtfully designed space! Many different options for seating/reclining, including large/communal tables for larger groups, fireplace lounge setting, private and quiet/cosy corner tables and benches, as well as the usual cafe style seats. Styling is on point with exposed beams, polished concrete, and lush greenery inside. This is complemented by an outdoor eating space and courtyard. So there is a space for every kind of mood and occasion. On my last visit I had the Spanish folded eggs with chorizo which was done to perfection. Great kids menu, including both brunch and lunch foods, and they loved the milkshakes. Will most certainly be back!

I would like to give four but the staff from second home disappointed me for the second time. On Sunday morning, When you are fully booked you need to have more staff to serve people. The waitress get our order and we confirm our four orders, she left and after half an hour they brought three, when we asked they said we will check, took 10 min that we didn’t touch our food which got cold by then, one came back and said they are preparing, we asked to cancel he said it’s going to be ready in couple of minutes!!! It took another 10 min, we start to share ours, then we finished and still they running around, we asked to cancel again and they respond was in a minute your order will be ready!!! And still we sat there and waited longer than 7 min which the breakfast got ready on the bench of the kitchen, we saw it but it took 5 min to serve , in fact I expected them to be professional and when it takes much longer than they say at least apologise like a professional. I felt terrible because I invited my friend who has a 10 days old baby to be happy and I failed.

When in Eltham, we always come here. Booking is highly recommended as they are always extremely crowded. The layout and interior are cozy with high ceiling and lots of natural light - 5 stars for the place itself. The food tho is good but honestly nothing special. The vietnamese coffee is creamy but a lil bit too sweet for my liking. The service is decent.

A light and airy feeling space with a somewhat industrial deco. Food was awesome. I haven't been a fan of poached eggs in the past, but that's what came with the Hearty Home breakfast. And they were really good, cooked to perfection. The chargrilled bacon was a big hit too. So tasty. Rounded off with a good coffee (triple shot large skim latte, suitably strong and not bitter). Easy to recommend.

The interior is a lovely light filled space with high ceilings. Staff friendly and great service. Also a serene outdoor space with heating, great for the frosty day we went! Decent amount of items on the menu, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. Coffee is great! Standard prices- my breakfast salad was a good size and was $22. Carpooling recommended, we went on a random Monday morning and the small carpark was full! No side street parking as it is a busy thoroughfare.

Second Home in Eltham is nice and cozy cafe with combination of dining and lounge seating... loved the ambience and the service. Cafe has its own parking which can be a bit tricky to get in and out of if your driving a big car and was full when on a Saturday morning. We ordered 'Our Benedict, the dutch hot chocolate and a dish with beans and bread on the side. Food was tasty with good portions. Highlight was the dutch hot chocolate which was enough for two of us... the benedict was also yum however the beans were a little underwhelming with too much gravy and spices with not enough beans on the dish. Overall, was a good experience, so we might give it another go.

A venue that l reviewed years ago and still going strong. Certainly has maintained and even raised the bar for food, service and general atmosphere. Bookings essential, it is popular and parking around the area is restricted so plan ahead especially at peak times.

We had breakfast at Second Home on Saturday morning – we luckily beat the weekend morning rush as I’m sure it would’ve been hard to get a table even just 20 minutes after we arrived! Easy to understand why, it’s a beautiful space, trendy but cosy, and our food & drinks were great too. We had the veggie full breakfast which was delicious – the grilled mushrooms especially! My matcha was good too and it came with a cute honey pot on the side. It was overall the perfect start to our weekend in the area.

Amazing service! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the lovely lady at the front and taken to our table by another gentleman who was very lovely too! All the staff interaction we had was very good. The food was delicious. Very well presented and delicious! We'll definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

Had a great lunch in the courtyard. Lovely to see so much space and kids enjoying the new water feature. Food was delicious , dog made very welcome and the new parking area makes it so much easier. Oh and did I mention how fantastic the staff are!?Highly recommend the veggie breakfast.

I loved the food. I can definitely recommend it. On the weekends it gets super busy so a reservation is helpful. Also quite loud inside but as we were sitting outside it didn’t bother us.

Very busy because it was Mother’s Day Weekend. Despite this, the service was polite, prompt and friendly. Coffee was outstanding and I can highly recommend the Snapper. It was great to get out to Eltham to enjoy the fresh air and be surrounded by hun trees. I will definitely be back

It really does feel like a home inside this cafe. Beautiful decor, high ceilings, friendly staff, little nick backs to purchase. The menu has great variety and all the meals were very fresh and generous in size. Absolutely loved my open cheese toastie and I opted to add ham and poached eggs. The spicy relish was such a good add on, it really tied the dish together. The chai latte was beautiful presented, I loved the mug they used. I’d love to come back with my dog and use their lovely outdoor area and get something off their dog menu!

Had a nice brunch here in a homely atmosphere. Breakfast Super Salad had a great variety of greens and proteins and tasty. Tarte Tartin was nice too and the feta, rocket, crunchy root chips combo was excellent. The pastry of the tarte was soft and could have been crispier. Place boasts high ceiling and several different seating areas including couches with a fireplace. Where we sat was a little bit dark as the place relies heavily on natural lighting and it was a gloomy day. Plan ahead as nearby parking can be hard to find. Overall lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, fresh food. Will be back! What a gem in Eltham!

The architect who designed this building was well known locally for the full length windows allowing an abundance of light and warmth The food itself is very high quality with excellent staff and great service Food is exceptional and well worth booking in advance as they are always busy Would recommend this to anyone looking for a second home

We were warmly greeted by a lovely female waitress who gave us the option of staying inside or moving outside. After being seated, we ordered coffee’s which came out very quick. There was a huge selection of food options, so it was very hard to pick just one! The portions were great sizes, very well presented and tasted delicious. The venue itself was very modern and well decorated, with a lovely water feature out the back - gave the place a tranquil feel. It was the perfect place to come for brunch with family after celebrating a wedding the night before. Would recommend to try this place out!

Found this place on our way to a friend’s home and just ordered two coffees and this special dish of the day (Ravioli) to share. Coffee beans they used was good however it might be the milk they use which made the coffee tasted watery and not so flavorful. The ravioli is so good even though the portion is relatively small. Services is attentive and welcoming. My overall rating for this place is 4.4

I've been coming to Second Home for years to enjoy the fabulous ambience of the perfectly renovated Alistair Knox building and the leafy surround of Eltham. The team never fail to disappoint with their attentive service and first class food and drink offering. Last Sunday I had the Boston Beans (with a cheeky extra egg and bacon!) and my partner had the Scrambled eggs with butter poached prawns - OMG perfection on a plate! Looking forward to my next visit as there's always something new. This time it was the new art installation hanging from the roof! Great work Team Second Home!!

A charming café with cozy and trendy ambiance, enhanced by stunning decorations. I opted for the full veggie breakfast and treated myself to the pistachio raspberry cake. Sadly the sourdough slices were burnt. The tea cake was truly decadent though. It had a dense and moist texture, with whole dried raspberries interspersed throughout, adorned with a sweet cream cheese frosting that enhanced its appeal. A wide range of options is available, catering to different dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free choices. Convenient parking. Kids' menu also available. Moreover, I appreciated the pet-friendly outdoor seating and the food options specifically designed for fur babies.

Breakfast Sunday 6Nov22 My mum got the doughnut dish and I got my usual scrambled eggs, mushrooms and avo. Mum said the doughnut dish was really good but mine was very average the eggs were ok but the mushrooms just tasted butter almost like vinegar. The service was friendly but we had to wait 10 minutes for a table although there were literally 15+ tables free, given they were mostly bigger than 2 seaters and could have been reserved but still a bit strange. Finally with al L the staff and not a crazy amount of tables full when we were there service was a little slow to take our orders and an orange juice we ordered early on never was received, it was on the bill so it wasn’t missed, they did remove it from the bill when we asked to do so)

Second Home...what can I say?! This place is such a go to brunch spot I had an almond cappuccino & the dish: our hollandaise. Both we're absolutely delicious! Couple of downsides.. the parking & the portion sizes. Other than that this place is great!

Food was nice but not that great that I would want to go through the waiting and lack of service to go there again. We had lunch on a Sunday and it was quite busy but not once during our lunch did any staff return to our table after they delivered our meal to offer any further drinks or dessert. We could have walked out without paying. The layout of the restaurant is probably half the cause for this. With very disjointed/separated sections. This creates a quieter environment for guests but obviously meant staff forgot about us.

A really cool warehouse style cafe in Eltham. The interior has a lot of character. The food was good too. What stood out though was absolutely incredible service. Less than 10 mins after we ordered, a staff member came to us and said they’d check on our order (we were happy to wait specially given the place was so busy). He replaced our water jug soon after it ran out. These small touches go a long way!

Amazing, delicious food. Fabulous atmosphere, exceptional service and the most delicious food, best burger I have had in a very long time. For dessert I had the coffee, chocolate and hazelnut cupcake, divine. Love your selection of teas and the fact they are tea leaves and not tea bags. Amazing Earl Grey. Thank you for such a beautiful lunch. Will definitely dine again. AAA+++

This little place in Eltham has a very warehouse/eclectic sort of feel while being cosy all the same. Only ever been here for breakfast but the food has always been a hit. The hotcake is very tasty and very filling and the folded eggs with goats cheese are a good one for the kids! Only took a star off because service can be slow when it's busy, but I'm happy to wait for this food! Please excuse the half eaten pancake, couldn't help myself 😁

We have been enjoying the pre cooked dinner packs as well as ordering off the menu during these past months. The friendly service and accommodating attitude gave us incentive to keep going back. The lasagne with the pesto sauce was our favourite. Lunchtime fav is the super salad with tge Berri smoothie. The burger is for those looking for something meaty and filling . It does not matter what you order, you will walk away feeling happy and satisfied.

Fantastic food in a lovely warehouse conversion. They also have a range of fresh bread and pastries, homewares, jarred food, treats and ready meals and drinks. Online booking in advance was easy and confirmed promptly. We struggled to decide on a dish because everything sounded good! There is a large lunch menu after 11.30 as well. On our most recent visit, we ordered the doughnuts which was three lovely lemon + ricotta doughnuts with lemon curd, orange blossom syrup and fresh strawberries. Not too sweet or heavy. Previous visit 08/2021: Ended up with Dutch hot cocoa, golden folded eggs (add bacon), grilled haloumi, ricotta hotcakes and smashed avocado. Everything was delicious and generously sized. We couldn't finish the hotcake, so recommend sharing that one. We will definitely be back.

Lovely place for brunch with some nice drink options. Food is good but not too outstanding. Unfortunately the fritters we had were quite salty on the day but wouldn't mind coming back to try out the other dishes. This place would make a nice function place for birthday party/engagement as well, especially with their outdoor area

My beautiful Client recommendation of Second Home was a win for me. I parked a few meters away in a public car park. The walk was beautiful and the service was f so friendly the iced coffee, yum and my Falafel Meal was deeeeelicious. I would say the best falafel I have eaten and that has been in many places. Book Friday’s and weekends as this beautiful space gets busy.
