👍 Great place for lunch or a late breakfast when visiting the Queen Victoria Markets. Service can be a bit hit and miss, but just go with the flow, and you can picture yourself at a cafe in Madrid. The food is top notch and very authentic. Love the sandwiches and the tapa they offer. Order a nice glas... Located on the Victoria St side of Queen Victoria Market is this small, intimate, authentic Spanish tapas bar, run by some pretty amazing people who want to provide a true Spanish experience to all of their guests. They have recently started running wine tasting nights and have been quite successful with them. We received a warm welcome and introduction, and were seated at the bar. 4 wines, each with a complementing tapas, my favourite being the Tempranillo and delicious pork belly (I wish they had it on their menu!!). It was informative, funny and entertaining, you could really tell they have a passion for what they do and love sharing it with their guests. For only $35 the value was amazing and they weren’t stingy on the wines, a few cheeky top ups were offered and we couldn’t resist, each wine was incredible. I feel like they could charge more and add more tapas, as it started at 6:30pm and we were hungry for dinner. We stayed back after our wine tasting to order more dishes, as we were so impressed with the tapas we had been provided so far. The paella takes 30 mins to prepare and is worth the wait, adding chorizo is a must. So often I am dissapointed with Paella’s but this is not one of those times 🤤 The Jamon croquettes were probably the best I’ve ever had!!! Both the patatas and the calamari were also hits. Not a thing to complain about. Amazing service, authentic experience. Bookings are a must as this is a small space.

The food is top notch and very authentic. Love the sandwiches and the tapa they offer. Order a nice glass is Spanish wine and you’re away. Great start to the day. Then head to the market and shop for dinner x

Wow. What a find. This restaurant is great. The food is superb. They really do a magnificent job at presenting the food and flavours of Spain. The layout, look and feels of the place is extraordinarily similar to a small tapas bar you would find tucked away in a side street of Seville. The fresh ingredients coupled with the extensive menu and very clearly the expertise of a talented chef really do tie the whole experience together. Try the prawns in garlic butter and white wine sauce. No - try it all! I don't often give 5 stars but wow, this place really is great. I loved it. Thanks to all! 🙏🇪🇸

Restaurant started off saying they didn't have space for us inside despite us having a booking. Nonetheless, wanted to try the calamari and paella as walked past numerous times. Was not disappointed! Calamari could have been crispier but the flavour was good. Ordered the squid ink paella and only criticism could be the prawns, if they were bigger better - for what you pay, 55 for 2 pax. Overall will return, but recommend booking ahead so you get a seat inside. Not the friendliest bunch, but not the worst either...

Had the "Happy Day" special and it floored me. Came back again for another meal and I'm now a firm customer. Service is excellent, chef is dedicated to serving you the best hot meal/tapas. Even if you're only visiting once, you shouldn't leave without having a meal here at least once. Highly recommended.

Authentic Spanish tapas style restaurant. We stumbled into this place after discovering that simply Spanish has closed down due to COVID-19. We will 100% come back here because the flavours are so good and I love that the specials on the board are so exclusive due to the turnover!

Was here yesterday afternoon with my granddaughter. Despite tabels marked as reserved we were welcomed and given a table straight away. The food was amazing as was the wine. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely visit again next time in Melbourne.

Cosy Spanish restaurant close to Queen Victoria market. The sizzling garlic prawns and squid ink paella were amazing, and the homemade cheesecake is a must-try. Staff were friendly and gave great suggestions for food and drinks. Highly recommend!

El Rincon turns out to be a warm place on a cold evening. We were served by two waitresses and my gosh they were so nice and welcoming, and yes quick. Cheese platter and meat platter was good but the cold Sangria stole the show for me. We also had lovely desserts. It was worth a visit. Who knows I might visit them again if I'm near Victoria Street some other day.

We came in for a coffee but after a look at the menu we just had to have a glass of wine. All the wines they serve are quality wines from Spain. The waiters could not have been more attentive and delightful they are passionate about the food they serve and love to tell you about the history of tapas and the wines. But ofcourse everything stands or falls with the food, well we already been here twice because my friend could'nt stop craving the sardines with olive bread. We will definitely be back just because its the perfect little spot to have a glass of wine and catch up with your best friends.

Tasty food. Staff were nice and tried their best. Rice balls, breakfast for two and the stuffed paninis were great. Patatas bravas was good. The tortilla was massive and a bit disappointing.

every time i come here I feel welcome, and relaxed. The sangria is delicious. The food in general is very good! the chefs are amazing and consistent in their cooking... the Croquettas are to DIE FOR!! and the waitresses (one with curly brown hair and a blonde one) are always on top of everything and very kind, sweet and do their job well. Overall a wonderful experience!

The best service and authentic Spanish Tapas I have received in Melbourne. Dined with a Spanish chef and we were both blown away with the quality. Portions sizes were perfect. Staff were amazing!! Would recommend to everyone. Also get the Croquetas de Jamon! Highly recommend.

When flooded with so many stalls and foods in Victoria market, I just don't know what to choose for lunch. And I found this! I love the foods here! Especially the seafood paella. My mum is vegetarian and she's enjoy their tortilla too!

Great food and wine, excellent service from the waiter-can’t thank you enough for wine recommendation. We enjoyed complimentary wine and gazpacho, and the food was very authentic. It may feel a bit expensive however I think it is worth paying for to recreate the taste of Spain

  • 3/5 Sandra 2 years ago on Google
The service was good, friendly and accommodating. Good guidance was provided by the waiter and his suggestions really assisted us. The wait was a bit too long, but once that paella arrived and we tasted it, all the wait seemed worthwhile. This is probably one of the best paella we have ever had. Sitting outside is not as great as we thought though, too much traffic noise so I would recommend sitting inside .

Great experience at El Rincon tonight. Excellent Sangria on tap, croqueta and paella. Shout out to the waitress who served us tonight; there is a genuine quality to the restaurant that shines in its food and atmosphere.

This is easily the most authentic Spanish restaurant I have been to in Australia (I have lived in Spain and come from a Spanish family) Visiting from Sydney we had to try this place and were not disappointed. Every tapa we ordered was perfect, and they're also the only place I've seen in Australia that gives you a tapa with the drinks you order too (like like do in Spain). The decor is great and authentic as well, and the service is excellent as well. The ultimate compliment I can give is that I'm now determined to bring my Spanish grandmother down from Sydney just to try this place.

Disappointing for authentic Spanish branded food. The sangria was just soda water with cranberry juice and tasteless. The chorizo and capsicum roll for $15 was half a sausage and a teaspoon of plain cooked capsicum. Quantity was about $6-7 in worth. Better buys at Vic market elsewhere. Sorry guys but lots to improve

The best tapas this side of the Iberian peninsula! Very generous serving portions, the elderly manager is a charmful classy bloke who reminded me of the friendly locals we encountered on a previous trip to Valencia. The waitress who served us was very attentive, helpful and accommodating of our 2 year old toddler who could be a handful at times. Make sure you have someone to share the huuuuge refreshing jug of sangria with as I made the misjudgement of ordering a jug for myself after I downed the first single glass order. In total I drank about 1.5 litres of sangria that day!

We were warmly welcomed and seated in a quiet outside courtyard. We chose about four or five plates (tapas) and we weren’t disappointed. Lovely crostini came out while we waited for our first plates to arrive. My sister particularly raved about the croquettes packed with wild mushrooms.

Yuuuuuummmmm! My partner brought me here about a month ago for my birthday, and I am so glad he did. The food was to die for. Steak that melts in your mouth, servings that fill your belly, and service that makes you want to come back. All for a very reasonable price I feel too. I felt like I was back in Spain, except maybe the food was better!? Thank you El Rincon for a fab dinner and a little slice of cake to celebrate.

We had two lovely times here at he El Rincon and loved the welcoming atmosphere as well as the very delicious food. We found this authentic jewel by chance and it was the perfect way to end our tours through the Queen Victoria Market. We felt like family, enjoyed the Tapas and had breakfast at the second time. Can’t recommend it highly enough! This is the place to enjoy very good Spanish food in Melbourne.
