Restaurant Bar Pub

😠 Would have to be the worst pub I've ever been to... If you can get past the overwhelming abhorrent smell & obvious lack of cleanliness, you then have to accept being lied to when they cannot commit to the menu on offer. Don't tell me you've sold out of something, when there's no guests and the lunch... People often mention good, nice, great, ordered, friendly,

Would have to be the worst pub I've ever been to... If you can get past the overwhelming abhorrent smell & obvious lack of cleanliness, you then have to accept being lied to when they cannot commit to the menu on offer. Don't tell me you've sold out of something, when there's no guests and the lunch service has just started!! How about just being honest & stating that you are simply out of stock!!??! That's hard enough to deal with, let alone no gravy (but they can charge you for mushroom gravy) & no coffee!! The supposed owner then verbally assaulting the guests for calling out the lie with their waitress. (under age & serving alcohol at a licensed premises) I'd give ZERO stars if I could. Do yourself a favour and steer wide clear of this poor excuse for a pub. (No wonder they're empty with no patrons during peak times)

The sparse dining room is quite a noisy space with no atmosphere. It felt more like the dining room at a budget wedding reception, with it's paper tablecloths and Kmart tableware. The bar served one of our dinner guests an alcoholic drink when they ordered non-alcoholic, which is quite a problematic oversight. A dirty martini was exactly that: dirty. And served in a tumbler 🤯. The food was ordinary and, as such, overpriced 🤷‍♂️. Kudos to the friendly table staff who are working hard in less-than-ideal conditions, thank you. You can pay over-the-odds for your dinner at nicer places in Williamstown.

The pub is great. Good vibes. Good ales. However, the restaurant wasn't so good! Over booked, under staffed, I ordered a steak cooked blue and got a well done one. Had to send it back. My daughter order a steak with mash and got fries. They said they'd bring a side of mash. They forgot it. She had almost finished her meal by the time it came. My partner ordered a property sauce and got red wine jus. My blue streak can't as all my table had finished their meals. Not at all impressed!! No offer of reduction on cost either. I would have insisted on that but my daughter had already paid. I won't be going back.

There was a time when Williamstown had a pub on every corner many (most) have gone this one has survived. Great old building with an impressive façade. Simple, but welcoming front bar with a large renovated beer garden/courtyard. Food at the moment is very good in their lovely bistro. Also, the only pub in Williamstown to have an original horse trough outside front door. nice!

1st timers,6 out of the 8 of us ordered entrees & they were really nice, except we were half way thru our entrees & our main meals started coming out. Why cant they wait till atleast we've finished our entrees. Some of our meals where ok,alittle expensive for what you got. 2 of the Parmas that were ordered were dry & burnt one 1 side. Disappointing

Just had Sunday lunch at The Morning Star. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Friendly service. Barramundi was lovely, cooked perfectly. Prawn and Pippie pasta dish was very flavoursome. We will be back

I’ve not eaten here (yet) so can’t comment on the food but the limited beers are nice and the staff are always friendly. However, there are no bar snacks (except crisps and twisties etc) and you have to walk through a smelly smoking area to get to the beer garden. As a non-smoker it’s obviously a bit (LOT) of a turn off for me. I’d otherwise add another star but these two issues see me subtracting from a place that has lots of potential.

Very nice local pub with a good choice of beer on tap and good food at a reasonable price. The place has a relaxed vibe and is good for family gatherings and catching up with mates.

Service was great. A lovely old pub, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. By far the best thing was the food though. Excellent pub fare that I would heartily recommend!

Really nice food. I had the Prawn Cocktail and the Swordfish which was very good. Only negative was the pizza which was more a like a shop bought frozen pizza and didn't do the rest of the menu justice.

Cocktails were shocking but it is a pub and I did have a teenage kid serving me who obvisously had no idea how to make a whisky sour or an amorreto sour. Food was pretty good. Service was not bad. Did have a great time though

Dodged a dose of food poisoning here, yesterday. Ordered the Swordfish which became Barramundi and was served half cooked, traslucent in the middle. Ughhh! As I ordered the pizza instead, because quite frankly don't want that kitchen to be cooking me ANY meat and I couldn't walk out as my mates were eating. I got told by the waitress/chef that the fish was actually not undercooked but that was a bloodline?!?! Oh ok ! and what about the traslucence? That's just an 'effect'?! Shocking standards. This kitchen should be closed!

We had a family lunch here on a beautiful sunny afternoon! We were looked after so well and the Mussels are to die for! I have definitely found my new summer spot!

The food and service were excellent. Ash Bettenay is a great chef. One of the best food pub experiences we’ve had in Williamstown. I had a snapper dish with Vietnamese Salad and Nam Jim dressing and it was delicious. My partner had lamb rump with kipfler potatoes with spinach, tomatoes and pine nuts. Again, delicious. If you’re after good, solid contemporary pub food, you won’t go wrong with the Morning Star.

Awesome place at a very quiet neighbourhood. Both the owner Justin and the manager Steve are nice guys.when I did a projector setup for a grand final match for them, they were very accommodating and friendly and learned a lot from their high standard of the job. Highly recommended!... cheers David

The Eye Fillet in the dining room was one of the best cuts of meat i have ever eaten, I would give it a 12/10, Therefore I had to eat my meal very slowly, as i was enjoying it that much. It would not have mattered what the rest of the meal was like, but presentation and the flavor of their chips were sensational.
