Yesterday was my second visit at Meat& Wine Co in Southbank. Service is prompt, staff are professional and friendly, and ambiance is great. The restaurant ensures that people follow health protocols, and that's a good thing. The food is delicious. I have tried their poke bowls with different meat (pork, salmon etc) and the taste is unbeatable. The lightly fried calamari was amazing. Yum! The price of menu items is reasonable for such a prime location and vibe. There is plenty of space for larger groups at two levels.

A meat-focused restaurant that does that part quite well: the food is great, but one or two steps below really amazing. As such, prices are on the high side, no doubt partly thanks to the somewhat touristy-location. Service is friendly and broadly speaking very attentive, with the occasional minor lapse.

This superb restaurant has a new look that is modern and vibrant with a warm atmosphere, making for a great dining experience. The steak is always cooked to perfection. Simply delicious and juicy. I love the New Yorker with blue cheese sauce. Staff are friendly and service is fast. Prices are decent. The place is very popular so be sure to make a booking.

Outstanding service. Fri, 21 Jan, 08:54 PM Wed, 25 May, 06:42 PM The above date was my reservation dinner at Meat and Wine Co Southbank. I had an additional reservation because of the last-minute confirmation received from my friends. When we arrived, the front staff told us that we need to sit at a separate table because of a different booking. It was my mistake not to mention in my second reservation about the additional need to be together at one table. Winnie our waiter is our “Angel” She can arrange our tables next to each other instead of being separated by the different corners. This is what I meant extremely good service. She always made sure we are well-taken care of. In fact, she went beyond the expectation. Her knowledge of food and wine recommendation is two thumbs up. Friendly, great smile, knowledge, and care made my dinner celebration end with a wonderful and joyful moment. The majority has been spoken. All my friends gave two thumbs up for the food. Beginning from the starter, the main dish, dessert, and wine are well prepared and served. 110 percent recommended. Keep up the excellent work guys. Dr Mohammad

Went there for my birthday dinner. We ordered Portuguese Prawns for starter and it was as usual mind blowing. For the mains I had the New Yorker with peppercorns and salad and it was absolutely amazing. My partner went for Rib eye with Barbeque Relish and chips and he liked it too. By the time we finished our meal we were too full for dessert. We really had a good time. Glad that came here. Overall, food was good and service was okay to be honest!

Came here with a group of 9 for a birthday and thought that it was very well reasonably priced. The rib eye steak with chips was roughly $42. However, the group had two glasses of wine with their meal and came to a total of $680. I thought the food tasted quite well. Nothing spectacular, but the price and quality was definitely justifiable. Service was extremely pleasant. I would come here for a regular catch up or just to relax on a Friday night. Quality is on. Taste is on. Price is on. Atmosphere is on. Would recommend and come again!!

Great food, great service and great location. Had Calamari for entree, runp steak for main and creme brulee for desert. Everything was very tasteful and nicely arranged. Calamari was tender and full of flavour. The steak was cooked perfectly medium as requested. Staff very service orientated and professional. Had lunch with a group of 24 people and food got served fast and efficiently.

We had their full rack pork ribs, scallops, garlic cheese bread and African prawn. They are flawless. So delicious and perfectly cooked. The chocolate fondant and creme brulee is absolutely worth dying for

Great service at this upper market steakhouse. Beautiful interior. Felt very premium for a steakhouse. The food was great without being exceptional. Our steaks were both one undercooked. So I asked for medium and it came out medium rare. And the other steak was asked medium rare and came out rare. No biggie for us. But it did alter our experience. And for the price you pay, it was a bit disappointing. The blue cheese dressing was awesome and the accompanying salad was great too. I personally didn't enjoy the sauce that came with our entree scallops, but the scallops themselves were baked perfectly. The wines we were recommended were seriously gorgeous. Thanks for having us.

This restaurant has a very busy and hustle type of vibe. The waitstaff are super busy, and also were not knowledgable of the wines, and couldn't offer recommendations which was so bizarre given the name of the restuarant 'meat and wine co.' Maybe they were new I don't know. The food that we ordered was average in quality, presentation and taste. I would have expected a bit more from this brand, the dishes looked quite simple bistro food.

Fancy restaurant with great environment! Sensational eye rib steak cooked perfectly on charcoal! Pork belly is must have starter! I am putting up my hand for a while, no waiter are paying attention to me, that is only something I am not bit concerned. However, the food is extremely delicious! Will return soon.

We had dinner here tonight. First time at the meat and wine co, so I was looking forward to having a perfect steak. Unfortunately the steak was over cooked and quite unpleasant to eat. I asked for it medium and it was medium well in parts but mostly well done. There was no staff to call over to send it back, so we just ate it and put it down to lesson learnt not to order steak. The staff were okay. We had a female introduce herself as our waiter but didn’t see her again until the bill was due. We had a few others serve us in the interim. The ribs were really good and lucky we ordered them because they saved the main. Overall an okay experience, but not to the level you would expect for a higher price restaurant.

The staff were perfect with service, food drinks don’t take too long to come out, garlic bread was good, main courses was perfect, but the deserts were 100% perfect, tasty, yum, if I could lick the plate clean, that plate would be very clean. Highly recommend Meat & Wine company, give it a go and see for yourself..x

We visited this M&WCo location after receiving a red balloon gift voucher for a lunch for 2. We were greeted promptly and confirmed our reservation to claim the voucher. We were seated next to the waiters station in the main front room of the dining hall. Our waiters were fast and friendly throughout the course of our meal. We shared the two course meal between my partner and I, was plenty of food with a complimentary drink as well. We would return again to experience the full non voucher menu experience.

Great service, beautiful fit out and environment. Made up for the fact they served rare streaks when we ordered medium rare. All in all, the staff made it an enjoyable night. 10/10 for the staff there.

Absolutely amazing food! The bone marrow, wedge salad and the pork ribs were so delicious, we loved it. Highly recommend these three ☺️ The steak was great but it was a little bit too over cooked, the truffle mac n cheese was also delicious. We will be back for sure

I recently used a red balloon voucher for the dining experience for 2 at The Meat and Wine Co. All I'm going to say is you better come hungry. Incredible food and lots of it! The restaurant itself has beautiful mood lighting as you dine by the waterfront. Would highly recommend to treat yourself to a night here.

We had the pleasure of enjoying our 2023 New Year's Eve dinner at The Meat & Wine Co Southbank. The set menu was great and very fulfilling. The highlight is meat and wine as the namesake suggests, and the cooking did bring out the best of Gippsland steaks. The wine selection is very extensive and we were happy with our staff recommendations. We were fortunate to be assigned a private room due to our large group. The in-room AC wasn't working so we had to keep the door open. But I didn't mind that the evening music was fitting and we didn't get too much noise from the general dining area. There was no outside view from our private dining room though. Overall a great dining experience.

Good meal and great service. The highlight was the pork belly entree, which is part of the lunch time menu. The steak was good as well. The blue cheese that it came with was not too strong and really tasty. Will definitely be coming back to try the other steaks, especially the ones with more marbling.

This place is all about the meat! The portions are generous, and the squid is particularly fresh and flavorful. The pork ribs are exceptionally well-cooked with delicious seasoning. Despite being busy, the servers are friendly and provide excellent service.

Had a wonderful experience a couple of days ago. In spite of arriving quite late, almost at closing time, I was promptly seated and I had the opportunity to taste an exquisite kangaroo meat plate (skewer), which excelled every expectation. Paired with two very good local red wines, the dinner lasted longer and quite late after the official hours, but the personnel was very nicely accommodating, allowing me even to order a cheese dessert plate (excellent) and a sweet wine to pair with. Overall a great experience from every point of view.

Everything was perfect We used the Red Balloon 3-course meal special for 2 people at $159 together. The service, especially by Ethan, was top-notch. He really welcomed us and knew his stuff. The special came with a glass of wine, entrée, main, and dessert. The quality of the dishes was great. A really well thought out flavour combination by the chef. The South African sausage as an entrée was a nice hommage to the restaurant's theme. Calamari was also very good. For mains, the rump steak was juicy and filling. The handcut chips were crunchy and very fresh. The barramundi was cooked well, and served with scallops, clans, and lobster bisque. The desserts were so good. But by this point we were so full! Haha. Chocolate fondant with ice-cream and a crème brûlée. It was our first time here, and we'll definitely come back soon!

Excellent as always. Went there on a Wednesday and they have an express lunch menu which was great value. I also like how they decanted the wine. Overall a great lunch. Try and reserved a table overlooking the river.

Meat and Wine has changed over the past 10 years we've gone there. Our favourites pork ribs, salmon skewers, beef tartar and steaks still a good feed. However, on this lunch session, I wasn't impressed with the barramundi with seafood bisque. Nothing was worse than the combination. The bisque was rich and gluggy, no flavour and didn't suit the fish. Other than that, everything else on our table was perfect. Price is obviously pretty steep though.

Had the pleasure of dining in at Meat and Wine Co tonight. We had the most wonderful service by Grace tonight. Thank you to them. The food was splendid and I had the pleasure of trying Tempranillo which was lovely. The food was very good and came in at great intervals for 3 courses. Thank you for a great night in at your venue.

We went here for lunch with a voucher from our children. The food was amazing. We ordered the steak with mushroom sauce and pepper sauce. We also had the chicken skewer, Chips and a salad. We also got the calamari to share for entree and desserts which was blueberry tart and orange creme brulee. Everything was great, food and service amazing. I think it would be beautiful at night with the shades up and the lights, overall a great experience.

Food and service was excellent. We had purchased a Red Balloon offer for 2, which gave us a set menu. I would do it again for the same menu. My sister joined us and purchased from the a la carte menu and the choices were extensive and her dis was beautiful as well. Was such a great night and will go return if visiting Melbourne again.

Delicious aged steaks, the nicest ambiance you would like to have a date night or family dinner and Ofcourse a fun night with your friends. The food is a little bit costly, but I am sure its worth it. Their burger patty are so juicy and yumm. The bar upstairs is a nice place to be and have dinner, but may be reserve early. Overall, its a highly recommended place for for a good steak and wine time.

The Meat & Wine Co Southbank offers first-class service with polite staff, delicious meals and a clean, comfortable dine-in area. Although I’m not a big fan of their steak options, I would highly recommend their meat ribs and cocktails. Overall, a great place for a more special dining experience with good friends or a significant other.

Loves the atmosphere here, and the people. They are a friendly bunch and food is great. They are quite busy to worth booking prior to your visits. The meat is really good and the staff knows what they are doing when they give you recommendations. Also if you request they do write happy birthday on the desert plates. So will definitely suit a celebration.

A good restaurant. Nice ambience, fantastic service (shout out to Hardial, our waiter, who was incredibly attentive and friendly), extensive menu with a variety of dishes. It actually would've been 5 stars but for a couple of things: it's a steakhouse, but honestly the steak wasn't great, in the sense that there were just chunks of fat I couldn't chew through and it just wasn't very appetising after that. Also, they charged $13 for a single baked potato which I found ridiculously overpriced - on the menu it says "baked potatoes" in the plural but it was literally a single baked potato that wasn't large so that was weird. But apart from those things, we actually had a really nice night out. Overall, I would come back but I don't think I'd have the Monte rib-eye which was a disappointment. The ribs looked good on the other table so I think I'd try that next time.

I ordered the Three Course Express Lunch, and l couldn't have been more pleased. The Szechuan Calamari melted in my mouth. I loved the balanced seasoning and the Nam Jim sauce was a lovely complement. The 250g Wagyu Rump was masterfully cooked medium (as requested) throughout. A very high quality cut, this definitely isn't your average steak. I usually bristle at the thought of ordering a steak, but you'd be mistaken to choose anything else here. The Veal Jus subtly brought out the beefy flavour – nothing else needed. The chips were evenly cooked – crispy exterior; fluffy interior. The Strawberry Crème Brûlée was the perfect way to round out a delightful meal. The staff were friendly, courteous and professional. I will be back!

Thankyou to the team at Meat and Wine Southbank for making our anniversary dinner a special one. Especially Leo and all the waiters and waitresses that looked after us tonight. Very accommodating, great service, great food. We even got a special surprise. Thanks again team for treating us like royalty. Highly recommend 😁

Some of the juiciest meat I’ve ever had. We wanted the Wagyu but they had run out, so we got the Aged Steak instead and it did not disappoint. So easy to cut into and falls apart in your mouth, although some of the edges can be hard to eat. And the Portuguese Chicken was so flavourful and just falls right off the skewer too. Definitely recommend trying both. But not only do they deliver in mains, their dessert is equally as flavourful, the Chocolate and Hazelnut Fondant is the perfect finisher to your meal. The service we received was absolutely amazing, we did come to our reservation late so they had every right to be curt with us but they did not. They were polite, friendly and we were catered for right until the end. Definitely come here if you’re visiting Melbourne.

It's hard to find good value in the South Bank precinct, but Meat & Wine Co's Express Lunch is probably the closest you're gonna get. Can easily recommend the Pork Belly, Szechuan Calamari and Salmon Skewer. The medium rare 250g Shorthorn Rump was a bit dry and lacked the desired drip, maybe I should've asked for rare? Staff were very attentive.

  • 4/5 Quincy M. 11 months ago on Google
Pleasant lunchtime dining experience here. The menu is varied with lots of healthy/veg options beyond the classic steak menu. I tried the roasted cauliflower and a tomato, crostini and goat cheese “salad” which were both fresh, well presented and well portioned. Taste wasn’t bad overall but they both lacked salt.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here on Sunday afternoon. From start to finish we had a fantastic time. When we arrived the staff at the front desk were very welcoming and polite. Our waiter was prompt and always making sure we were happy with our food or needing any more drinks. The East 8 Hold Up cocktail was definitely the best cocktail I have ever had. It was like drinking a holiday. 10/10. Entrees of garlic bread and Tartare which was incredible and our mains (steaks) were cooked to absolute perfection. Thank you so much to the Meat & Wine Co team for making this such an enjoyable occasion.

Enjoyed coming in for a late lunch. They offer a 3 course meal with a drink for 49. Opted for that and go rewarded with one of the best cheese burgers I’ve had in a while. 💥💥💥💥💥 Lamb shoulder was juicy and fatty💥💥💥💥💥 Calamaris were amazing 💥💥💥💥💥 Pork belly could have been a little more tender 💥💥💥💥 Thoroughly enjoyed my crème brûlée dessert💥💥💥💥💥 Will be back for dinner on day to try the aged menu!

We visited this restaurant for our Anniversary and just loved the ambience and the food. The jusisest meat I ever had till date in Melboure. The best meat and I am in love with pork ribs - the yummisest. So easy to cut and falls apart and melts in your mouth, and the Portuguese Chicken was so flavourful and just falls right off the skewer. But not only do they deliver in mains, their dessert is equally as flavourful, the Chocolate and Hazelnut Fondant and sticky date pudding is the perfect finisher to your meal. The service we received was absolutely amazing, they were polite, friendly and we were catered for right until the end.

We had a dining for two experience and the selection of entree is standard. I loved the pork belly which they had previously then the south african sausage. The rump steak is good but not the best cut of meat that you can really enjoy. Dessert is the best treat for me. Overall experience is ok.

This restaurant is obviously one of our favourite regulars on the list, as always - even though it’s almost too packed most of the time for both lunches & dinners. Ribs platter (pork & beef) & 150-day Shorthorn fillet with blue cheese sauce.

Exquisite Dining Experience at Meat and Wine Co, Southbank ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My visit to Meat and Wine Co in Southbank was an absolute delight! The exceptional service provided by their staff elevated the entire experience. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth made our visit memorable. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the unbelievable taste of their meat. The steaks, cooked to perfection, melted in my mouth with every bite. The tasting platter offered a delightful variety that left our taste buds dancing. It's an absolute must-try! Whether it's a romantic date or a family lunch/dinner, this place ticks all the boxes. The ambiance is charming and inviting, complementing the exquisite dishes perfectly. I highly recommend Meat and Wine Co to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience. You won't be disappointed!

Booked a set menu here for my partner's birthday. We had a parmesan garlic bread, bruschetta, lettuce salad, beef tartare, steak, and biscoff cake and creme brulee. The parmesan garlic bread was amazing, and so was the dessert. The steaks were nice, but for the price, my partner and I were expecting more, as we've had a similar one for a much lower price. My partner had the bruschetta, flavor was ok, but the bread was the downside. It seems that it wasn't served right away, felt like it was soaked with the tomato juices for too long and the bread wasn't toasty anymore that it was hard to bite. The beef tartare's flavor was amazing, but the kind of beef used was really hard to chew that it was hard to swallow. I had beef tartare before, it wasn't at all like that. I wasn't able to finish it. Too bad because I really like the flavor. The salad gets the lowest score. Mostly because of how it's prepared. It was just a sliced chunk of lettuce and everything was poured on top. Nothing special about the flavor except the dried cranberries, that was the only thing we liked on the salad. I give service a 4 because 1 of the staff was attentive to us, but the initial one wasn't. So glad that they maybe had a change of shift. We told one about the beef tartare, she just nodded and said okay. I was just thinking, wouldn't the chef want to know about this? I would, if I was the one who prepared it. It would be nice if you feel that they want to know how the food is. I'd still come back to try the rest of the menu but probably not more than once a year.
