I have not had any Iranian/Persian food before this and hence have no point of reference. There were four adults and one 5-year old kid and we had the banquet which gave us four dips, 5 different kinds of skewers, rice, salad, and a curry. The portion is reasonably priced and you definitely will be full by the end of the meal. The skewers are well-cooked with the meat remaining juicy and seasoned lightly to showcase the cooking technique. The service is friendly and makes you feel like you are visiting someone's house. Food - 9 Service - 9 Vibe - 8 Price - $$$

Really enjoyed the food. But we kept getting delivered food that was for the other side of our table and had to spend a considerable amount of time working out where the dish was supposed to go, on two occasions. It felt like they were understaffed. Had the mixed dips + Mirza (eggplant). If you order the dips the extra money is worth it! Kubideh, Barg, baktiari and soltabi kababs. Barg was my fave, tender thin strip of beef. And the dizi sangi. And the safron and pistachio icecream. Loved the depth of flavour, especially in the dizi sangi. Pretty cool with the mortar and pestle like things. The bread was delicious and warm. Loved the amazing ice-cream. Just realised the bill was higher than the menu price. And just realised the menu price is incorrect, must add 3% on top. Making it a pricier feed. For the pain of incorrectly delivered dishes and price point, I'm not sure if I would return. But enjoyed the food.

This is our regular local restaurant. My family and I have been coming here for years. The food is always delicious and consistent. The service is a bit hit and miss though, the only wait staff who has been exceptionally attentive, warm, welcoming and on the ball is Vicki. She goes out of her way to ensure you have a a fantastic dining experience each and every time. So personable and a joy to see each time. She’s a serious asset to the restaurant.

It's a treat for the eyes as soon as you enter the restaurant. the extravagant Persian cultural setting truly adds to the ambience with perfect interior lighting (great for pictures ;)) and decorations to gaze on. The staff was very professional and welcoming. Asked the management and YES! they serve HALAL food. The food was amazing, we were a group of 9 people and decided to go for the Banquet which was one of the best decisions we made so far. Being a big fan of BBQ I can certainly say this joint has the best BBQ out there, the kebabs were juicy and perfectly cooked which is a rare combo but hats off to the chef for pulling it off. The rice on the other hand is on a whole new level with ideal texture and taste. We ended the night with some desserts (Faloodeh) and Persian tea which was a delight in itself. TRUE VALUE FOR MONEY AND A MUST-VISIT!

Authentic persian restaurant with great ambience and interesting food with big serving sizes. The decor and ambience is very immersive, with live music (a pianist was performing right next to our table) and I went as a group of 8, with good service given it was not that busy. The starter bread and dips were excellent, my favourite was the cucumber dip. The eggplant dip is actually warm so that is an unique take on bread and dips. The mains were very sizable with generous portions of protein. I found the kebabs to be juicy tender and flavourful (especially when you add some additional spices from the shakers on the table). The stew was interesting with fries on top. And believe it or not, according to my Iranian friend, the food is exactly what you'd see from a Persian meal so I'm very happy to say the mains were delicious across the board. The dessert I didn't personally like as much, however everyone else (that's 7/8 people) all agreed it was good since it was not too sweet, and the rose flavour of the frozen noodle at the bottom was delightful and refreshing. Overall it receives a 4 star review because I personally didn't enjoy the dessert as much but I cannot fault it for authenticity and serving size. Highly recommended.

Persian Kebabs and rice were the highlight of the night. Service was a little slow but that’s expected on a busy Saturday night. Will definitely come back and try out the rest of the menu items

Tonight’s evening at Aliqapu was great from the start when we were welcomed upon arrival by friendly staff to the finish when we had finished our amazing meal. The restaurant is beautifully authentic inside with lots of space for groups of all sizes. We ordered the banquet and it was all incredibly delicious, fresh, beautifully presented & unique flavours. When the huge banquet arrived to our table we were impressed by the amount of food & couldn’t fault one thing! The meat was all perfectly cooked & so tender & the fluffy rice & crisp mixed salad with a lovely dressing was so tasty. We had some left over which we were able to take home in containers the restaurant provided. The desserts & tea to finish were gorgeous too. We ordered an extra dessert to try called faloodeh which was INCREDIBLE in presentation & taste. It’s flavours & textures were superb with delicious ice cream on the side, which was equally delicious! Our waitress was THE BEST! She was so friendly, helpful & attentive, ensuring everything was ok etc. It is a restaurant you must try for so many reasons & you won’t be disappointed! Thank you to all the staff for a happy & delicious evening. 🥰🥰

I have had many positive experiences at this restaurant; and am very happy to recommend both the food and service! Overall, it's a lot of fun to enjoy a meal here as a family. [I think placing QR codes on the tables could assist with ordering; it's my only suggestion.] Recently, I hosted a function upstairs which ran seamlessly for the guests, and was a tremendous success; as well as being affordable. The great service ensured the hosts could have a great time too. The staff are proactive, friendly, welcoming, and do a great job to make everybody comfortable.

In the words of my friend’s 5yo son, “wow fancy” was my first thoughts stepping into the restaurant for the first time. Food was good and hearty - lots of rice - warm bread with yummy hummus mmm. Had the lamb and beef kebab which was really nice. Ordered the pomegranate juice which tasted tad more like a vegetable juice. Overall, a nice decent dining experience with friends.

    - The place looks nice but seemed a little bit under staffed. There is no complimentary dishes or even bread which is pretty unusual for a Persian restaurant. We asked if they can give a little bit of our rice straight away for our kid so we can keep him busy until the meal is ready. It was provided to us after around 10 mins and we were charged for extra rice which none is common in any other Persian restaurants we have been. So, all in all service will stay at 3 stars. - We ordered Koobideh and Lamb Cutlet (Shishlik). Koobideh was very average and not even close to the other Persian restaurants I have been back in Brisbane and Sydney. The Shishlik wasn’t really what it should be and not even close to the photos provided on the menu and not close to any other shishlik I have had before. However, it was cooked medium which is my preference for red meat. Rice was cooked very well with good amount of butter in it. All in all, food can go something around 3 and a half stars. - The prices are high for the quality and portion of food. - I recommend adding some complimentary dishes/bread/soup as a starter. Also, recommend adding the common Persian fresh juices to the menu such as watermelon or pomegranate juice or banana shake. Having these items could make my experience a 4 stars one not 3.

My recent visit to Aliqapu, a Persian restaurant, was an absolute delight. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the Persian lamb cutlets. These were exceptionally prepared, offering a rich and delicious flavor that truly honored the culinary heritage of Persia. The meat was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. A pleasant surprise was the salad bar, which was free on Thursday, the day of my visit. The variety and freshness of the salads provided a perfect complement to the savory lamb cutlets. This thoughtful addition enhanced the overall dining experience, making Aliqapu a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food.

Dined with the family on a Friday evening for the first time as this restaurant is recommended by both mine and my partner's Iranian colleague. Food was nice, different spices to what I have had but taste good. Good portion size but menu is a little repetitive as all kebab dishes come with the same rice and roasted tomato. Had live piano pop music playing in the background. Great night out with family, tried new food which I am happy to recommended to my friends.

It was my first time to try Persian food and it was absolutely stunning! We had banquet, appx $60 per person. Food was amazing and portion is huge, we felt so sorry that we only could finish half of the food. Staff offered us take away container first which I was really appreciated it. The restaurant interior was very unique and beautiful. Thanks so much for my Iran friend who recommended this restaurant and we are definetly coming back.

Great place to visit if you miss the persian flavours or want to introduce it to your non persian friends. We visited in a group and it was great. Got a food platter kind of tray with all kebabs and a good selection. Lovely staff and very attentive. Unfortunately the wait is very long. It is given they are busy at diner time but so is every other restaurant and most places do manage it. You expect to wait a reasonable amount of time but it took us Atleast 30 min. Secondly this was the most expensive persian food in melb hands down approx 40-50% more than others and thats not acceptable( compare websites and see for yourself). All and all i dont think we will be back for a while.

It is one of the best persian restaurants in Australia not only Melbourne. With a great ambient and fantastic Iranian cuisines, it hosts Iranians to celebrate Nouwrooz every year. Haftseen is always the best part of Nowrooz decoration along with so many antique items all over the place (see photos). Food quality is excellent as far as I tried. This includes juicy and melty kebab barg and tasty koobideh.

Food was't good at all for a claiming top Persian restaurant in Melbourne! The prices are too high for the quality of what they serve. The positive thing about this place is the Persian style wall art and decorations. Also, the waiteresses who served us were quite nice and responsive.

I always come here to not only enjoy the delicious and tasty Persian dishes that makes me come back to my memories in my home country Iran, but also to enjoy the positive environment. We ordered dizi & makhsous along with eggplant yoghurt as side. All are yummi. They’re absolutely good in terms of customer service. Strongly recommend.

This nice Persian restaurant serves quality Iranian popular dish by its friendly staff. The furniture, decoration, and wall paintings represent the rich history of Iran. Food’s taste is great and its texture increases the appetite. The price of each dish is reasonable and fair. I would strongly recommend it for those who want to try the real taste of Persian food. Thank you guys.

The restaurant atmosphere is great. Staff were friendly. We oredered kebabs and dips. Kebabs were delicious and juicy. The dips tray is too expensive compared to the main dishes. Dough (drink) was average.

Had my birthday meal here. 10 adults, 4 kids. We had the banquet. Everything was absolutely bang on. Great food. Great service. The lamb was marinated in God-knows-what but was some of the tastiest lamb I've ever had. We *will* be back!!!

The staff were very friendly and prompt. The food came out within 10 minutes and was absolutely delicious. The kebabs were flavourful and moist. The chicken was tender and falling apart. The rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Must try Persian food in the suburbs!
