Great spot, secluded but very large area for your dog to have a good exercise. Easy to lose your dog if they donโ€™t recall. Access to river to view or fish. Some nice weโ€™ll grassed spots for a picnic (no facilities). Good part of it is all terrain wheelchair ๐Ÿฆผ compatible. Path pictured extends along river for longer walks but is used by walkers, mountain bike riders etc so consider retaining on leash.

Beautiful part of Eltham. The walk from Griffith Park to Sweeneys Flats is a gorgeous stretch of natural river land.

A charming park to walk either with dogs or friends. Lovely to have the river on both sides. One of my favourite places.

Nice entry to the river track amidst the big old pines. Popular with dogs and their owners. Attempt with care after rain as the track can be rather slippery.

Whether you are looking to go for a walk, a swim in the river or just have day out on a picnic rug, this is a nice spot. This park is getting super busy now especially on warm days with everyone - families, backpackers, young couples and teens.Cars line up and down Griffith Park Road, so if you are looking for an idyllic, quiet spot, this spot may not be the best pick.

Lots of land to roam around. Can enter at Grffin Park and proceed onto Swansea Plain which will take you all the to Templstowe, well over a 10k walk. Not many people, a few dogs but mainly nobody around. The walk through to Swansea Plains is a mixture of hills and then trails for Single file. A bit muddy in places but did encountered only marginally slippery slopes at times.

A beautiful walking track and a nice place to take the family and dogs. The walking track can get narrow so make sure you're wearing appropriate footwear. The track isn't suitable for disabled access but the general picnic area is suitable.

Nice park on the banks of the Yarra. No facilities at all though. Good off leash area for dogs but be keep an eye out as there are some large snakes about.

Great place for a photography session. Just be careful where you step with it being a dog "off leash" park.

Great area to take your dog for a leisurely walk. Small paths so it feels more like an adventure through the bush, even thought it is basically in people's backyards. Paths can get a bit overgrown and change as trees fall down so paths are just walked around certain areas. It can be a bit slippery in wet weather.

Ultimate place for a quiet BBQ amongst the gumtrees. It's remarkable how remote you feel out there yet just a 2 minute drive and your back in suburbia... the river is a great spot to wet the line and try your luck at hooking up an elusive Murray Cod. It has great parking facilities and is well maintained. No toilets however... All in all, great spot for all ages. Highly recommended.

A great place for a walk with the yarra for company its a very pleasant stroll the walking path isn't allways easy as the rain can make it quite slippy but my 82 year old dad still walks it .

Very muddy. Appears as a bicycle track on Nillumbik walking map, no surfacing.

  • 5/5 Winnie M. 4 years ago on Google
Such a beautiful and easily accesable river, no large rocks to stab you and the ground in the water is soft from mud. The rapids are lots of fun and only as dangerous as you want them to be, so very safe overall

A beautiful part of Melbourne's North East suburb of Eltham with the Yarra River flowing beside the reserve. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon stroll, or a romantic pic nic. Dog friendly with on and off leash areas. A hidden gem in Eltham.
