The staff was super kind and accommodating. The rooms were outdated but being renovated. We got an older one and our girls a renovated one. The rooms are hot as hell. They will give you dinky fans, but it’s still miserable. The shower water was brown. They were working construction during the day so it was noisy and dusty. Terrible beds. Terrible pillows. All super cheap low quality. The breakfast and dinner were decent. No complaints there. The location is perfect. It’s really Just the rooms That are terrible. So if you’re just looking for the basic hotel and don’t care about a decent nights sleep, then this place is great.

From the moment we walked in we regretted booking this place. We walked in with fleece and walking trousers on as we'd been out hiking, but we'd made sure everything was clean. The wife clocked one of the receptionists giving us a dirty look like we were beneath the hotel. The first room they gave us stank to high heaven of smoke despite being a "non-smoking" room. Went down to complain thankfully they gave us another room. But the rooms are very dated. The bed wrecked our backs and we'd have been better camping! The entire hotel needs a face lift (especially to match the attitude of some of the staff). Most of the staff were lovely; ruined by a few! Had dinner off the Thai fusion menu, food was good. In the morning, don't expect to get a lie in as the cleaning staff start early and are shouting and vacuuming the corridor from early without a care in the world that they are disturbing the sleeping guests

My husband and I booked this hotel as we had a family gathering in the town. We were very disappointed with the bathroom in our room. The room itself was nice, the bed and bedding was very comfortable, furniture was clean, and the view of the river was fabulous. However, the bathroom was dirty - it smelled like a urinal, there was a pee stain on the floor in front of the toilet, and the shower was old and yellow. I didn't end up showering as I didn't feel comfortable. We did not mention these issues to staff at the time as we were exhausted upon arrival. It would mean having to wait for the cleaning staff to clean the bathroom fully, however, this should have been done correctly in the first place. The rest of our family received very nice rooms for their booking, fitted out with a very modern bathroom, however, we seemed unfortunately to have drawn the short end of the stick.

Booked Sunday lunch. Good selection on the menu, prices are normal for Donegal town. Very friendly staff and quick , professional service. We had a two course lunch, starter and main course, should have only gone for the main course, portions are more than ample. We will be back 👍

Nice, clean and good food. Couldn't really fault it to be honest. Stayed here for 2 nights (2 adults and one child) during Halloween mid term and really enjoyed it. Dined both nights in the restaurant and the food was v good and reasonably good value, breakfast was also very good. Hotel is very well located to the town centre and the staff were very helpful. Used the pool twice and it was v clean and water a good temperature which is all you want really. Yes it's not huge (13m) but it's an added bonus. Yes the hotel is a bit dated and has no frills(probably a decent 3 star) but it is was what it is and if you don't expect anything more then you won't be disappointed. Would I stay here again? I would say yes. My only negative is that it says in the hotel information pack , it says parking tickets are available from reception for €1.50 per day but when I enquired about this I was told it was not available and that you needed to pay the street rates. (~€4) , still not a bad price but information should be removed if not accurate anymore. Donegal is a great destination this hotel is a good option to us a base.

The hotel is a little dated but our stay was very comfortable and the room was warm and clean. Would give five stars if the room had warmer lights - the bright cool bulbs were a little sterile.

Lovely room close to the internal lift as requested. Looked onto main town square. Was a little noisy at kicking out time but that died away quickly All in all a lovely hotel to stay at. Breakfast in the morning was also lovely.

Stopped by for food after a long bus journey from Dublin. The receptionist staff kindly offered to store our suitcases until we had our food. The decor is lovely. The waiting staff are so pleasant also, smiling and helpful. We got some wine, very nice, the waitress also helped my friend chose hers, letting her taste a few first, great service. And the food was delicious, definitely call in again next time I'm in Donegal Town.

The service at the pool is absolutely ridiculous, the jacuzzi isn't available for more than a year now, while the membership is still the same price! The gym is also from the 1980. Older than 90% of it's users lol

Stayed here on Saturday 21st October ‘23 with a group motorbikers. From the moment we entered the staff could not have been more pleasant. Nothing was too much bother and all guests looked to be having a great time, everyone was smiling. A Special thanks to Charlie for helping me out with some tools on Sunday morning to deal with lost key for a lock. Food in the Restaurant was superb and everything is reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be back next year. Well Done to all the team!

Very expensive for the small room with no air con and the noise levels at weekends very hard to sleep as well the fan outside the window. The pool was nice but having to book in and then no appointments very disappointing we only wanted a quick dip. The hotel staff are lovely very friendly manly why I would return if needed.

Had an evening meal here. Staff are attentive, pleasant and polite. Service is very good here. The menu had a huge selection to choose from and was reasonably priced. The quality of the food, the great staff and pleasant surroundings will entice you to return.

I had an amazing three night, stay a couple of months ago with my husband and two children. The bedrooms are always immaculate, especially the bathroom toilets always clean especially after that night we had curry great service all around Charlotte the housekeeping girls. They are really good at keeping the bedroom is clean and bathrooms, especially. I will be back.

A great spot for a short visit, comfortable, welcoming staff. Planning a getaway to the American tourist trap that is Donegal town. The central hotel could be reasonable priced option for you. The hotel sports an antique design which I believe perfectly fits the feelings that accompany Donegal town, the hotel has a comfortable familiar feeling to it like visiting your grandmother’s home. While this is nice the hotel feels like it is missing a big wow factor but you may not be seeking this as you are staying a quiet little Irish town. At reception you will greeted by the welcoming friendly staff. The staff did all they could for us even after my stay they held onto our luggage as we explored the town before we left. First thing that we noticed about our room was the view, the view of the running river instantly brought a relaxing quality to the room. The room came with all the essentials, fully functional bathroom with a shower that had better water pressure than my home one, tv, kettle and hair dryer. Although the water always had a murky look to it. sinking into the bed you would have a comfortable night’s sleep. Now I recognise me and my partner visited when it was out of season but waking up to power drilling and hammers crashing into walls is not a preferred way to wake up in at 9am. As we forced up by drilling we decided to have breakfast. The hotel supports a full Irish breakfast which I still think about till this day, so Id say go for the breakfast, even if you are woke up by drills. Overall we had a pleasant stay, its comfortable and almost familiar but lacking in a big wow factor I’d say its perfect for a two night stay. 3.5/5

My reason for being in the hotel was for dinner. The service was excellent, the staff polite and friendly, the three course meal was also excellent. The dining room was spacious and comfortable. Well done, a most enjoyable experience.

Couldn't comment on the rooms as I only had lunch there as part of a group. I must say the food was excellent as was the service & staff very friendly as you would expect in Ireland. Only downside was the price of soft drinks. A Large Fanta Orange, Large Coke & a Bottle of Water came to €17.50 which I thought was a bit much considering the bottles were very small. Other than that a great afternoon was had.

Our stay was lovely, staff lovely. The rooms could do with being modernised and the beds were quite hard but other than that a lovely place to stay. The location is really good and happy to everything.

We have stayed at the Central hotel quite a few times now. Everything amazing, absolutely wonderful staff who go above and beyond to be welcoming, helpful and so friendly. Restaurant staff and fantastic manager who even SANG their rendition of happy birthday to my girlfriend. Will have no hesitation in returning again. Thanks guys.

We were part of a coach trip. Hotel good and breakfast was excellent. Not happy with dinners as we had mashed potatoes with carrot and turnip every night. Felt it was a cheap option because we were on the coach.

Great views from room 298! It's a bigger hotel than if looks. Great breakfast downstairs and live music in the spacious bar. Spot on location too. Definitely recommend.

Really nice hotel, staff were helpful and friendly and everything is in walking distance, the pool, bar and restaurant were really nice and music every night in the bar with great entertainment, only slight fault is room facilities (hairdryer) seem a little dated an seemed to overheat when turned on. Overall it was a really nice stay and would definitely return to this hotel.

We had a small meeting in which our original venue was last minute unavailable. We called in by chance and the staff went above and beyond with allowing us to hold our meeting there. Fantastic coffee and scones. Thank you very much. Really appreciate it.

Food was amazing at dinner on Sunday evening. I had the roast. The gym and swimming pool were fabulous. Remember to book your time before you arrive or very soon after you arrive. Room 129 was very noisy so we were moved to 161 at 11.30pm. So avoid 129 on a weekend

😠 This is the typical Indian restaurants made only for the west palate. I was highly recommend this restaurant from the fleet in killybegs, they had clearly told me it is quite westernised and mild dishes. But that is no excuse to give naan bread half cooked and size of a small side dish. Naan bread w...
