Came across this museum because it's on the way from my hotel to Albertplatz and just felt I had to take a look. There's lots of exhibits on show. The first section contains many cars and motorcycles produced by the old East Germany, all of which have excellent English explanatory notes. The exhibits go on to cover schooling, housing, furnishing leisure activities, policing etc in the DDR, all with well preserved exhibits and explanations. The exhibition doesn't delve too much into the communist system or politics, but does give lots of visual cues to life in the DDR with the sheer volume of exhibits. I also found the drive to enforce uniformity in communism, as well as the waiting time to buy a car quite comical.

An exhibition of everyday things from the time of the German Democratic Republic. Among many other items you will find "Trabi" (Trabant) cars, motorcycles ("Simson"), type writers, GDR-made PCs ("Robotron"), dishes, furniture, lamps, clocks, photo cameras, children's toys and the list goes on. Many of the exhibits are not really GDR-specific at all, but simply designs from the 1950s, '60s and '70s. The collection seems a bit haphazard and very little information is offered. But it's really worth seeing.

Interesting small museum telling how peoples daily life was lived and what with in the "then" DDR ( East Germany ) and what they did in there free time and how holidays were spent. Well worth a look.

A kingdom of cars, vehicles, tech-stuff and loads of nostalgia, plus many interesting facts and stories from the DDR-era is presented in a pleasant format in a shopping centre. A visit is recommended!

Vast exhibit of east German artifacts. So much to see. Super fun layout, Ikea style, living rooms, kitchens, class rooms, hair salon, doctors office, and many more. I could have spent at least half a day here but had to catch a train. Highly recommended!

(Translated by Google) A wonderful exhibition of the GDR. Very well sorted by topic, discreetly selected exhibits make this exhibition very clear.

(Translated by Google) Great price for which a lot is offered. For example, a classroom in love with detail with a screen on which some interesting reports from the GDR are shown or a lovingly furnished shop. A lot of exciting additional information invites you to linger and to see / read everything exactly you need more than 90 minutes. In addition, despite the full exhibition space, everything is clean, very nice staff and there is plenty of seating on GDR furniture 😃 Easy to recommend 👍.

(Translated by Google) It's great what has been collected here from all possible areas. Kindergarten, school, apartment, music, technology, cars and motorcycles, there is something for everyone. I found the school books particularly interesting. I can only recommend everyone to come here. Special praise goes to the friendly lady at the checkout. (Translated by Google) Great museum (pure original) with a lot to see and what to remember. The small museum shop is very teasing, but it's a shame that you can't pay by card. (Translated by Google) It is definitely worth it. Large exhibition with many well-preserved objects from the history of the GDR. You could slowly enlarge the exhibition space, it sometimes looks pretty squat, but that's probably a cost factor. Otherwise very worth seeing. We recognized a lot and were able to reminisce. Our 9 year old daughter also enjoyed it.

Brief glance back in time, for both nostalgics and history enthusiasts.

  • 3/5 Arun Babu N. 2 years ago on Google
It had more of a "what attraction can I put in a mall" vibe. There are a few interesting vehicles and mishmash of items from the time period. It's not necessarily accessible if you do not speak German. The staff was great.

Really interesting display, you really get to appreciate everyday life in the GDR rather than learning about historic events. I’d recommend it even to those who aren’t usually fond of museums.

  • 4/5 Mohammad K. 3 years ago on Google
Some may seem nostalgia!! Home decoration, kitchen, rooms, cloths, accountant machines, motorcycles and cars, classroom and many other stuff in sales provided to watch. I enjoyed being there and imagine how life was there. Besidea that it was not a historical museum in sense of science history. Even tho great to imagine life in for and how the equipment, education and dressing were in that time

Who really like. To know a bit more about this times is a good overview of how things look back then. A lot of scenarios and old stuff. More visual than auditive. They sell book also and some other items regarding this times

(Translated by Google) Were there to visit last week. And you have to say you get your money's worth, you have to see the museum. So really is nicely done, there is space, you can see everything so wow There is also a toilet, and you need about 2 hours to look through everything and read ... So it is really worth a visit for all GDR citizens who still see it and in any case the ne so risch with experience it is a miracle what there was and so ... So come over for this price it is top 7 € you can pay and you can park there in the parking garage and then have a little stroll in the center .... It would be nice if you get the parking fees again or if you get a little cheaper. Or if you know your way around parking outside.
