The best smashed potatoes that I have tried in Ireland. “The lime kiln” unique taste of the Boyne Valley. Nestled in the valley of the River Nanny, in the village of Julianstown’s is the north east’s newest Gastropub, opened in March 2015, after extensive refurbishment. Offering an exciting food menu, great wines and a range of specially selected craft beer from around the world. They know that great food starts with great ingredients and have created an exciting and varied menu catering for every occasion, for fish lovers, vegetarian, the juniors and off course some signature steak, Ribs from our “kiln”. The menu items are sourced where possible from Local Suppliers and are freshly prepared each day in the kitchens. Vegetarian and Gluten Free options available. Check out their bakery and artisan food shop The Pantry where they offer a delicious range of take-away food including homemade breads and gourmet deli bites. You have to book the table in advance as it is always booked out.

Place is ok friendly staff.. all our glasses had very bad watermarks and one of our glasses had residue food we didn’t drink from that glass obviously LOL the food was nice until I noticed there was a hair in my food and an eyelash on the side of my plate being nine months pregnant I almost puked but I didn’t want to make a scene they kindly replaced it within 15 minutes my daughter’s pizza was okay and my sons pizza was fine kids pizza bit expensive for €9 to be honest

Chilled ambience - good music at just the right volume. Friendly, thoughtful, prompt service. Excellent menu with good range: salads, burgers, seafood, pizza, roasts, pasta, and more - something for everyone. The daily specials are top class. Wide range of drinks from bar - especially on draught. If it seems pricey, it's worth every cent. Interesting and creative dessert options, including liqeuers. I've seen many restaurants, bars, and cafes where the initial concept of how the place should be falters because the staff on the ground don't follow through, but the Lime Kiln is not one of those places! What you see is what you get, and it's the best you'll get in the wider Drogheda area!

We had a communion in the function room in May 2022. There was approx 40 of us inc 12 children. The food was amazing but really what made the day special was the care taken by all the team. Sarah and her team are exceptional. The children were always looking for something, like ice cream or more chips the team really were so quick keeping everyone happy. The food was great too with a lovely variety for the vegetarians / fussy eaters in the group. We look forward to many more meals and events here. Thank you so much, all of the team there!

Booked table for 6 on Christmas Eve. 4 adults and 2 kids. We were only told price of the set menu when we were seated. €45 for 3 courses. We waited 1 hour for 3 x starters, waited another hour for 6 x mains, this included 2 x kids meals. We were told that dessert would be another 30 mins later. We could not wait any longer and decided to leave without dessert. We asked not to be charged for the 3 x ordered dessert. They dicounted the bill by €22. We left after 2 hours 30 mins and paid €196.00 The food is just OK and there was not enough staff on duty. My advice is to avoid this place. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else, don't get ripped off by the greed in this place.

The parking lot was full of broken glass. Bad start (pic attached). The place was warm and a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly. The food was very poor for a restaurant. Overpriced for the quality and amount received. My medium cooked steak was nice but overcooked. The chips were overcooked and greasy, as were the onion rings. The ribs were just dry, tasteless, and meatless. The kids' pasta dish was long stringed spaghetti and not shell pasta. No steak knives or finger bowls given. There must be a basic pub cook and not a chef in their kitchen. I can still taste the grease from the chips and onion rings on my pallet. I will give this place a wide birth from now on. Bettystown and Southgate, etc, have places up the road to eat. Did I mention the broken glass in the car park!

We have been there before, the food was quite good. Today half of tables were free and many of them not cleaned. The girl at reception asked us about reservation and said everything is booked out. I don't think it's real that all people booked at 5 pm on Sunday. I noticed that there are just two of us and we need not more than an hour, but she was very unfriendly and not willing to help.

Visited the limekiln Saturday 10th, there were 2 tables being catered for so the restaurant was not busy. A waitress showed us to a table and left, after 10 min no one had come back even though a manager came to a table nearby to move things around and totally ignored us perhaps he was having a bad day or needs to go to spec savers but is it too much to say can I help you! Or I will get someone over to you. We left after 12 min and went to a nearby restaurant where the customer service from the staff was excellent. If this was the service when only a few tables were full don’t expect attention or food in s hurry. Rude service especially a manager a lot if improvement required

Poor overpriced food. I had homemade burger chips and onion rings. Burger was lost in lettuce and onion barely a pate of beef at all bland. Onion rings where swimming in their own grease. Now the best part, as a party of 2 with my 17 year old daughter she was expecting a nice pizza. Unfortunately not received a child's pizza which they called a 9" even though she ordered of the adults menu. It was more like a flatbread very little sauce and maybe 2 pieces of bacon. Shabby service food overpriced. Will I return. Absolutely not.

Booked a table for 2 on Sunday evening When myself and my partner arrived we were shown to the table. Very little people here there was no heating on seen some people leave. Only menu was three course for 45 euros .we got soupe for Starters chicken and mash no vegetables for mains apple crumble for dessert food was ok .all the staff were very young no adults 100 euros for the bill was charged 140 .as I left i realise the mistake went back and got my 40 euros back there was no apology. Avoid this place better food and value in mc donalds no wonder it only opens a few days a week

Greed at Christmas. Set menu for Christmas Eve. 40 for 2 courses. Complete rip off for a local restaurant in county Meath. Should have been 30 max. Normally our meal would have cost 31 the day before but an extra 9 on Christmas Eve. The normal menu was on the board with prices marked. Poor form. Also the fact no prior warning of significant price increase. Service was very slow. Roast turkey was over cooked and very dry. Children didn’t get dessert due to service being so slow and we ran out of time (even though we paid for it as it was part of the set meal) Bad experience from start to finish. Disappointed

We come here quite a bit .The food is always delicious . They have great desserts, especially the creme brulé! Sometimes the service let's it down though. Takes a while to get the food out and feel a little ignored but the food more than makes up for it!

Although everything was reserved the Lady at reception accommodated us (5 hungry people). And all five dishes were delicious! Just book by beforehand if you want to stay longer.

Arrived on St Patrick's Day evening with no prior reservation (by chance) and was given the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. We were brought to a table, drinks ordered, food ordered and brought out shortly after. Customer service is on point, we'll definitely be back soon. Can't fault the visit at all and the food was devine. Would recommend to a friend or stranger without hesitation.

Food was excellent. Service was not great. Waitresses didn't seem to know too much about the menu. Twice girls dropped glasses smashing them on the floor while serving people at tables.

Nice setting , not too busy. We ordered wings , which were a little small, but the sauce was nice . I got pasta special, which was fish linguine with a ragu. Very rich and trying to over compensate Italian food is simple and fresh. typical gastro pub and mix of foods and the nothing amazing considering the price

Quaint but sizable place with charming decor and friendly staff. Very generous portions of somewhat average food but still very tasty. Unfortunately though my wife and I will probably remember the Lime Kiln not just for the overwhelming smell of bleach by the front door but also for the distinctive scent of.. let's say gentleman's relish at our table. Perhaps the table cleaner they use is made from Linden trees or something.

Great food. Enjoyed a fabulous pasta dish.. very very good. it is always busy. Cocktails were good. If I had to be a crtic( totally not qualified) but I would say add some soft furnishings to absorb the din sound. See...not a pro!!! Food drinks and atmosphere all good. Reserve your space ✨️ ☺️

First time there, amazing decor, lovely food, cocktails and staffs. Please do focus on your walk ins too as these people can be your customers in the future and not only for the ones make booking with you. It’s a shame we didn’t enjoy our food the way it should be. Will be back though.

A real gem of a place. A great selection of good, freshly cooked food. Lovely selection of beer and wines. Great service and a nice atmosphere. Would recommend booking as it can be quite busy at times.

First time in this pub, recommended by a friend, we asked for a nice table in the front by the window as it was a beautiful sunny day. I was scanned head to toe (by the way I’m Latin and was wearing a hoodie), the staff asked us if we had a booking and as we said no, they proceed to guide us to the darkest corner of the pub right beside the kitchen. Now, I’ve worked in restaurants and I’m well aware that usually you’ll have section for walk ins. My issue with this specific place and situation is the way they made me feel in there. They’ve never made an effort to explain why we could not have the table we asked for and the staff proceed to stare at me during the entire time I was seated there. Very sad experience… a note on the food, you’ll find your generic pub food, nothing surprisingly amazing about it.

Great food, lovely staff, surprisingly bright and spacious inside with lovely decor and spotlessly clean facilities. Also great gluten free options on the menu. Can't wait to return!

We popped in for a last minute Sunday dinner. We had no reservation which was no problem. The menu is fantastic and has something for all tastes. We ordered the steak sandwich with and extra side of scampi and onion rings and the pasta special. Both were delicious. We also had sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate mousse for dessert (yum!) . Everything was delicious. All of the staff in The Lime Kiln are so friendly and accommodation. We can’t wait for our next visit.
