Had a family birthday lunch yesterday in Scholars Townhouse Hotel. As we were a family of 15, we were kindly given our own private dining room, at no additional cost. The service from the minute we came in was 5 star. Nobody had to ask for a thing. Knowing it was my birthday, they had kindly personalised the menu with my name, wishing me a happy birthday. The food was flawless, with a wide range of options for all the family including a seperate vegetarian menu, which I was delighted to have! My family are still talking about the food today. Every one of us were silent when the food came and enjoyed every bit of it. The quality of the food was apparent and the presentation was beautiful. At the end i was presented with a birthday plate with some small desserts which perfectly finished off the loveliest meal. Thank you to Scholars Townhouse Hotel team for such a wonderful day. If you have any special occasions or family gatherings, this is the perfect place!

Went for breakfast. Very friendly staff member. Would have liked to have been told that juice was included. But that is a minor thing. Rasher was gorgeous. Egg in egg benedict could have been softer. Coffee was very expensive for one cup of filter coffee. But would recommend.

Just home from fabulous stay . Sadly it was only one night. Rooms were very comfortable and lots of room for the 4 of us . Shower area in room was a little tired / rusty but all in good working order . Part of the charm really . Bed very comfy . The meal in hotel itself was excellent service was everything u want from a hotel and nothing was any bother . We also ate breakfast in the hotel which was lovely good choices for both adults and children . Will be back

Lovely welcoming staff. Friendly and helpful. Lots of pretty flowers in the front terrace, and in reception. Supper and breakfast very tasty. Bedroom was small, but clean, good shower and clean towels daily. The staff are a credit to the hotel. Thank you!

Recently enjoyed a meal here with my husband in the pub part for our anniversary. I am vegan and had a delicious aubergine and lentil dish. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the whole experience and will be back soon.

We could not fault anything about this hotel, yes the rooms are small but they’re very well equipped! Only thing we missed was somewhere to charge our phones ! The service was excellent, free tea and coffee whenever we wanted and w coffee and cake cart im the car park was so handy. A restaurant recommendation from the restaurant staff turned out to be a great place for food and ambiance! We cannot recommend Scholars highly enough, we definitely can’t wait to return on our nex visit!

My first time here yesterday was a truly lovely experience. The food was delicious and the staff superb - thank you. The building itself is beautifully atmospheric like travelling back in time to another elegant era

My friend booked a table for us to have lunch there. The staff were courteous and attentive. Interesting dishes to choose from. Our food was delicious and flavoursome. I loved the decor and the place oozes history with many stories to tell. Thank you to everyone...we had a great time! I hope I can go back another time!

Fabulous day for communion dinner. Not only did Scholars accommodate our family as our little boy has additional needs, we'd our own room and the waitresses were so helpful. Overall, the full service was flawless. Thank you all at Scholars

Really old hotel in a run down area. The staff is very friendly, but blame everything on "policy". If you have your own food, you have to eat in your room with no table or chairs. They offer overnight guests free coffee or tea, but if you order it downstairs, they must charge you. The parking lot is undersized and filled with a couple of trailers. I do not recommend. Their policies don't seem to care about the guest experience. You will not feel welcome here. ** Edit based on the owner's response - We were eating outside at a far table next to the car park. We were not bothering anyone. Only two other tables were in use (mid-afternoon). We were told that policy prevented us from having food, AND that we were required to pack it up and move it to our room. We were paying guests. We were made to feel very unwelcome.

What a fabulous night we had in the Scholars Townhouse Hotel. We had a meal for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, nothing was to much for the amazing staff. Their communication with us was great making the whole event run very smoothly. The server on the night was a lovely young girl called Catherine you are fortunate to have her in your employment she is excellent. The food was outstanding a really enjoyable evening and wonderful memories for our family thanks to them. I cannot recommend this Hotel enough.

Stayed for one night recently with a group of friends. We dined in the restaurant and I have to say, the food was fantastic. I enquired if the risotto had any dairy in it, which it had, and I was told the chef would simply make it up without any dairy. It was delicious! The service from each member of staff was brilliant. They were all friendly, engaging and so helpful. The breakfast the following morning was again, just lovely. Rooms are a tad small, but as we only needed the room for one night it was absolutely fine. It was spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfy. I would recommend Scholars Townhouse Hotel to anyone visiting Drogheda! Thanks again. Christine.

A hidden gem in the heart of Drogheda. Its a must. This was our first visit had a really delicious lunch in the restaurant. Very friendly and relaxed staff and atmosphere. If you are looking for old world dining without your food being rushed this is definitely the place to go. Enjoy

Excellent service and quality of food. Had a delightful afternoon tea for two to celebrate my partner and had a fantastic experience. Just a word of advice, don't expect a quantity of food for the faint of heart, the portions are on the large side, we couldn't finish everything.

We were a group of 8 in the restaurant on a busy Saturday evening. The set menu was beautifully presented & perfect for everyone. Service headed by Eugene was professional & friendly, overall a wonderful dining experience at a reasonable cost.

Fabulous stay would highly recommend. Staff are a credit to the hotel & went over and above expectations. Comfortable rooms & food was very good but you need to book to avoid disappointment.

Disappointed in some aspects of this hotel - rooms very small, extremely noisy from the children at school next door during the morning. Not tea and coffee facilities in room, or any dressing table to get ready. Could not move around one side of bed as jammed in a corner. Complimentary tea/coffee served in paper takeaway cups.. premium price, little things let you down. Bar area and restaurant services, lovely. Staff were great.

My wife and I held our small wedding in the west room here at the weekend. We were so pleased with the service we received throughout and can’t thank Eugene and the team enough for making the weekend even better! We will be back!

Can't speak highly enough of Scholars, great central location in Drogheda, lovely clean, comfortable and quiet room. All staff were friendly and very helpful, delicious cooked to order breakfast on each morning. Highly recommend!

I love Scholars. You pay a little more than other venues, but the difference is a superior quality, a first class service and a beautiful atmosphere. We brought a friend from Vienna who also stayed overnight, it is also a hotel. She liked it so much she plans to visit again!

Very pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere all along. A charming place where I would love to come back. Stayed in room 115, small yes but charming. The staff is attentive, very well trained. Had late drinks at the bar after 1am. Very nice vibe. Very nice barman, attentive, friendly and yet discreet. Breakfast was nice too. Just a wee flaw : a funny (quite strong to me) smell in the bedroom although the windows were open when we arrived. I should have said it to the desk. But I will definitely come back. Also went to Peggy Moores...a fantastic pub ! Great craic. And the staff is doing a great job really! It's been a long time since I have seen staff working like that ... Was impressed.

Nobody is perfect but our stay at the Scholars Townhouse was close! It is a very charming boutique hotel in the centre of Drogheda and thus a great starting point for a visit of Newgrange. From the moment we arrived until check-out all staff was very friendly, competent and made us feel welcome. Special thanks to the staff at reception and the bar and breakfast service. Food was excellent (I did not ever had a better chicken liver parfait). The only negative was that our family room did not have any space to stow away our suitcases.

Lovely meal and great staff. We were able to book a really nice small private room for our special meal after our wedding. Very enjoyable. Lovely outside area to sit and have a few drinks too.

This is only a review of the restaurant and bar themselves. I had a wonderful time, I brought my friend. I loved the food here and would definitely recommend the restaurant. I was seated in the bar area. I ordered the mussels for starters and the Indian butter curry as a main course, I did not have dessert.

Had a beautiful 5* meal at this restaurant yesterday evening, starters we had the pork and scallops, both dishes delicious, main were the beef and the duck, cooked to perfection, dessert the chocolate torte was amazing and the cheeseboard sensational although was really a share dish. Not a clean plate left which speaks for itself, didn't take pictures but looked as amazing as they tasted. Well done Scholars 5*

This was my first time at Scholars Townhouse. The food is of the highest quality and the menu was inventive and interesting. I was with a party of 10 and we all agreed that the food was excellent. The premises is old and atmospheric with a lovely bar. Similarly the dining room beautifully maintained and in keeping with its history. One thing to watch out for parking is very limited but there are alternatives nearby. We'll worth a visit if you are in the Drogheda Area.

👍 We drove from Dublin to have lunch here, and it was completely worth it. The food is excellent here and so is the selection of the menu.
