Proleek has a magnificent dolmen or portal tomb, there is also a wedge tomb very close nearby. Impressive as they are the walk to them is over a golf course and you get a sense that you are intruding as you make your way from the car park in the nearby hotel towards these monuments. You walk between two fairways and (as is the courtesy of golf) you should keep stopping so as not to distract the players. That makes it unsuitable to families with small children as well as dog walkers. That is the main reason for the 4-star rather than 5. The megaliths are great examples

Impressive rocks with a nice backdrop. Stayed in the local Ballymascanlon house which made access easy.

Beautiful area. Its a pity that a golf course was allow to be built so close to an ancient structure dating back to the Neolithic period. It's ruins the mystic a bit for me. Worth a visit all the same.

Nice giant dolmen, with a small nice walk to reach it. You can pass through a golf field or approach coasting someone's house. Nice coffe house and souvenir shop too. A nice place where to spend a couple of relaxing hours.

Nice Dolmen. They say the cap stone would weigh about 40ton.

I tossed away my wrinkle cream, as I stood in the foot print of my brother's and sister's from the past, I reflected on my brief candle , smiled and turned away. If in the area the visit is a must.

A great find if you enjoy neolithic standing stones. The surrounding golf course took away from the atmosphere but still lovely that it is here.

I liked this dolmen in the grounds of the golf course at the Ballymascanlon Hotel Dundalk Co Louth. Great care is required approaching it along the 10/15 minute walk transversing the course Keep your eyes and ears open for flying balls and shouts of 'fore'.

The monument itself is amazing....but no parking, had to leave a car on a narrow road, the path leading to it squeezed between the fof course and a farm...there should be a better way!

Fantastic hotel with original old house . Excellent service. Good food. And for sporty people they have a golf course and two all weather tennis courts

Beautiful monument for the deceased no matter how long ago they died. Ten minute walk behind the Ballymascanlon Hotel. Not suitable for those with limited mobility except for in a wheelchair; its a good ten minutes for the fit amongst us and a lot of uneven surfaces!!
