What a fabulous experience. The presentations, exhibitions and information have all been updated - bilingually - and a small interpretive centre has been added at Knowth, the largest monument of its kind in Western Europe. It is well worth booking the Knowth and Newgrange Chamber tour combined, and allow yourself two and a half hours to fully take it all in. Dress for the weather, because the Knowth tour is mostly outside. Very friendly and pleasant staff. This is my third visit there over the years, and the tour keeps getting better. Highly recommended.

Older than the pyramids and more than worth a visit just to see what the winter solstice would look like in the chamber. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It was nice to have time to walk around on our own. The visitor's centre was well presented and interesting. Not as many people know about this place that should!

What a wonderfully curated experience! From the visitor centre, to the passionate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides. And of course, the beautiful historical sites that are so well maintained while still having a distinctly authentic feel. And to be able to enter New Grange and be taken through that wonderful moment of simulating the sun entering the chamber. Honestly, one of the best tourist experiences I've ever had. Strongly recommended. *But remember to book in advance! You need a booking to see these spectacular sites.

Lovely space with the exhibition set out in a welcoming manner. Lots of information and the kids enjoyed the visit. The staff are all lovely and helpful. A good choice for a family visit and some good education. Our guide on the tour was lovely.

Really amazing to see. You MUST purchase tickets in advance. Do not think you can purchase on site. To avoid disappointment, BOOK WELL IN ADVANCE. Wanted to give a little more info though as we looked for this online and it was tough to find. You start out with a 45 self guided tour through the exhibit and your bus tour out to the sites is after this. You go to Knowth first then Newgrange. All sites have restrooms you can use. We had a breathtaking weather day there. Our guides were incredibly informative and I very much enjoyed the tour. So did my husband, who rarely enjoys long tours. It is a full 3-4 hours so come prepared with appropriate attire and foot wear. I’d also encourage a bottle of water as there aren’t any water fountains once you leave the visitors center.

It was amazing to visit these structures. It is a must if you come to Ireland. Everything is very well organized, and the guides were excellent. Book your tickets in advance (at least a month), the tickets sell out FAST. Also, the ticket time you book, is for the time you have to arrive to the visitor centre, the bus to the monuments leave 45 minutes after your booked ticket time, that way you have time to visit the exhibition in the visitor centre first.

This is a great WHS. Arrived late in the afternoon in early November hoping there were spaces. There was but I didn’t realise the last pm group (3.15pm) can only go to the Newgrange site. This was a shame but still awesome as this is billed as one of the best prehistoric sites in the world...5,000+ years old. The site Newgrange is awesome and the Boinne valley is stunning. The construction of the tomb is very interesting and you get to go into the inner chamber. The effort that our ancestors put into building this was immense. Facilities Modern centre with parking, toilets, gift shop, cafe and information film show. The best thing is the informative displays they have there. Price - €7 for Newgrange visit. Accessibility - the centre is but you have to walk over a stepped bridge to get to the bus (short drive to site) and I didn’t see anything amenable to wheelchair users. The same is to be said and you definitely won’t be able to get into the chamber as it is restrictive. Other languages - English speaking guides only. Don’t know if there are audio guides. Cons - I felt rushed to leave they wanted to lock up and when they leave any vehicles will get locked in. Bóinne Valley - stunning historical valley with many other attractions. My visit: 6th November 2018.

Back to Newgrange after 13 years and it is majestic as usual. The visitor centre and new audio-visual exposition are brilliant. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely will be back next year!

Incredible visit. Few years ago we went to see the inside of the Newgrange monument, and this time, we got the opportunity to see the monument in Knouth. The information, trip and guidance was excellent, all the staffs very helpful and the place very interesting and beautiful landscapes. If you go to Ireland's this is a little trip that I would recommend for sure 😊

An incredible UNESCO historical site with every facility one might need. If you have small children you may take your buggy, the staff is absolutely incredible, especially the tour guides and bus drivers, but you will be exhausted still at the end of the complete tour (Knowth and Newgrange). My suggestion is baby/toddler wearing and if possible visit one site a day instead of both with a toddler like I did. The shop is gorgeous and the surroundings overwhelmingly beautiful, do not forget a bottle of water (you can fill one right next to the door to the bus, mind the planet) and your camera! DO NOT GO WITHOUT TICKETS, it often is sold out by lunchtime!

This was a really cool place to visit. If we ever go back, I'd love to do one of the inside tours, but it was a last-minute edition for us, and we did the outside tours. The visitor center was nicely laid out and very informative. The tour guides were also entertaining an informative. Highly recommend checking it out.

Friendly staff, with an up to date exhibition explaining the monuments in multiple different ways. I loved the experiential part- it was as if walking through the forest with animals all around. The Knowth tour was excellent.

Really cool experience. The visitor center exhibit is very well done and the actual ruins are amazing. Our tour guide Mary was fantastic. The way she presented the info was this perfect blend of factual presentation and storytelling. She really enhanced the experience

Make sure you go to the visitor center to park! They will not allow visits to the sites without wristbands and shuttle. Excellent exhibit, very cool layout and visuals. The sites themselves are amazing of course, but it was great to have a tome booked in advance - they give you 45 min for the exhibit before your visit to Nowth or Newgrange. Employees obviously have a passion for their job, loved their talks while visiting an amazing piece of history.

The tour was super informative, and the workers were kind and fun. The history of the place was absolutely remarkable. They have bathrooms, elevators (lifts), and a gift shop. We overheard a worker saying that they weren't letting people walk up and buy tickets because they were sold out. We used our Heritage Pass to enter and booked tickets ahead of time.

Fantastic place with an incredible history. One of the must-visit when in Ireland. It is mind-blowing what humans achieved more than 5000 years ago. Come in good time before your timeslot so you have time to enjoy the exhibit and learn even more about the place.

Being a visitor to Ireland, this was the top of my things to do here. I have wanted to see this for many years. I'd heard how great it was and seen stuff on TV/ YouTube. An over used phrase these days but I was blown away by how good this was. Timed entry in small groups made the experience really special. The site wasn't crowded and there was plenty of time to see everything. The tour guides at Kowth and New Grange helped us interpret the sites and give insights into its past. Terrific visitor centre with all of the explanation delivered so we were well informed before our site visits. Obviously, going inside New Grange was the highlight and it didn't fail to amaze us. I want to go again.

Interesting but a pity we couldn't go in to see it properly as it was locked.

Disappointing. The weather was miserable. Despite the fact that there was lots of availability for the rest of the week, we kept getting told 'no, it was not possible to reschedule', like it was against the laws of physics, though no reason gave when pushed. We paid £50 for walk around swampy fields in the rain. Due to Covid we didn’t get to see the the main interest - passage toombs. Not worth visiting until it is fully opened again. And don’t pay in advance.

Well presented visitors centre with plenty off fun interactive activities. The coffee shop/restaurant is bright, airy and clean, and offers a great selection of quality food and beverages. The gift shop has a great selection of relevant gifts, and one of the world's nicest guys in charge of it. Great venue, great staff, great day out!

Do not miss this experience. Neolithic burial mounds in pristine condition and an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of 5000 year old Neolithic humans. Be sure to book your tour ahead because they fill up fast. It’s a small group tour with minimal direction and plenty of time for individual exploration.

Our family of 4 (kids ages 10 & 11) explored Bru Na Boinne mid-June. We were grateful that my husband had booked tickets online about a month previous to arriving. The kids quickly dashed through the exhibit and found a harvest game to play while my husband and I read all of the display signs. We had a lovely lunch in the eatery, and it was wonderful to not have typical pub items!! (I think I'd been served chips at 90% of my meals up until now :) ) We also enjoyed a coffee and dessert later on. The bus tour to the 2 burial grounds was a snug fit on the seats. Exploring the sites was good, and our children enjoyed looking around and exploring after the formal "lecture" at each site. My kids especially enjoyed going inside of Newgrange! I was amazed at all the Neolithic art!!

  • 5/5 Julianne W. 11 months ago on Google
This was such an organized tour of the mounds. We loved every minute of it. Our guide was so nice and super informational. Definitely buy your tickets in advance because they sold out even when we went which is considered off season. It’s about a 2.5 hour tour. Little longer if you do the chamber (which I highly recommend), you get to walk in and see the chamber.

Must see site when visiting eastern Ireland! Beautiful ancient mounds, Neolithic art and history. The guides were friendly and informative, a real pleasure! Be ready to walk a lot and squeeze into/through tight spaces. Bring an umbrella in rainy season, you WILL need it! The cafe prices are high but that’s to be expected. Here’s a little tidbit - there is an Irish craft shop just down the street from the visitor center entrance that is TOTALLY worth stopping at and having a look. They have unique handcrafted items you won’t find other places.

Great example of a mostly complete neolithic site dating from at least 3500 BC. Our tour guide at the site, Aegnus, was amazing. You could really tell he genuinely loved the material and was excited to present it.

This is for Newgrange Cafe only. Super friendly staff. Good coffee and cakes. I actually asked for less milk and the lovely girl obliged me. One thing I must say! Google Maps led us astray and we missed the tour. Don’t follow them here. Trust the signs !!!!!!

Makes you realize amazing history really is. To think that this structure was built over multiple generations, manually, and with such specificity and accuracy so long ago.

What an incredible experience. The visitors centre is a great warm up to going out to Knowth and Newgrange. Good visual and written information on the sites and excavations. The sites themselves are awe inspiring. The guides are wonderful. The cafe afterwards has fresh and great tasting food.

New layout of the exhibition area is good, mostly an improvement, although they should have retained some of the old features. The site-visit element of the package needs to be improved. The quality of the site guides varies somewhat.

One of our national treasures. The visitor centre is nestled away from the monuments, almost completely screened from view by the selection of native trees and shrubs planted. The interpretive is informative and interesting. There are audio guides included in the price of admission in a variety of languages. There's a nice cafe with a good selection of food and coffee to be had. The monuments themselves are incredible. You can walk around them and really get a sense of their place in the landscape. No matter how many times I've been, there are new things to learn!

We did the tour of both Knowth and Newgrange and it was amazing. The tour guides were great and both sites are breathtaking. It is absolutely worth doing the tour that allows you inside Newgrange. Make sure you arrive early so you can go through the museum prior to your tour.

Fantastic experience, booking is essential. The guides are knowledgeable and offer a great insight into the sites which are older than the Egyption pyramids and Stone henge. It take several hours to complete the tour and the museum make sure you leave enough time.

Great experience, the exhibition was state of the art including interactive displays for the kids. The visitor centre was very clean, friendly staff and a fantastic cafeteria. Buses leave at regular intervals from the visitor centre to the monument. Newgrange monument is older than the egyptian pyramids, an absolute must see.
