A family-friendly place with a beautifully considered ambience. Friendly staff who were able to juggle a lot while still being welcoming. My vegetarian meal was very yummy, though there were limited vegetarian options - I will definitely try the soup next time on a winter's eve! Thank you, I very much appreciated your efforts.

Planned to stay here following a new grange tour. Received an email while on the tour that the pre-booked dinner at the hotel was not available due to staffing issues. Headed over after the tour and the hotel was a mess. As soon as you pull up you see linens stacked in a window against a filthy curtain. The room was dirty, bathroom moldy., horrible lumpy squeaky bed on a futon frame. The second star was earned because they promptly refunded my hotel charge as we did not stay.

Went for lunch, arrived at 12:50pm, seated quickly, read the specials by waitress, ordered quiche of day to be served 40 mins later and instead of an “asparagus, red pepper & smoked cheese” quiche, I was given bacon and cheese. Not appropriate for a vegetarian but nevertheless sent it back and the waitress loudly updated all the staff that at 10 past 1 on a Saturday the “daily specials” had changed, including the soup (bit strange as hardly late in the day to have ran out). Waited for the correct item and 5 mins later was served the most vulgar, day old quiche, the pasty was soggy, the eggs clearly had been reheated, absolutely HORRIFIC. I walked to the manager whom didn’t even speak when I told her this was clearly day old food reheated and stormed away to the kitchen to be told when she came back “he will make you another, sorry”. We left, I wasn’t waiting over an hour for “lunch” to be served the wrong dish (accidents happen, however careless) but day old reheated pastry and a manager that couldn’t even muster an apology or feign shock and deny the substandard “quality”, vile! Will not be returning due to chef and manager alone.

Nice restaurant and great value. We enjoyed our time in slane with a lunch stop at this restaurant. Book in advance is recommended. Nice size portions, although not much selection. The online menu offers more choices than the one on site.

Overnight anniversary celebration. Meal was simply superb; there's a real chef in this kitchen. Restaurant hostess was extremely pleasant and welcoming with a very warm personality. Room "Sally Gardens " was lovely with an impressive 4-poster bed. Handy parking. Nice stroll around the town. Breakfast was delicious- eggs benedict for me- and set us up for the day. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

This is a late review, as we were at the Coyningham Arms several months ago, but it's worth saying that we had a very nice lunch. The food was well prepared, and the staff friendly and efficient. We visited on a weekday and were able to park quite close, which was good, because it was raining. Would definitely return and consider staying in the hotel as well.

Reviewing only the restaurant. Very disappointing in almost everything... from the service to the food. The only positive thing is the garden outside that is very nice. Unfortunately we didn't take the pictures of the prawn cocktail... no flavours and served in a glass of water with some lettuce 🤦🏻‍♂️ the "traditional slow roast top tib rib of beef" was dry and no flavour. Not recommended.

A hotel that, while exuding tradition and history from every pore, offers all the modern comforts; beautiful in every detail, including the rooms that can be visited on the first floor almost as if it were a museum. Not bad either is the restaurant, where one can eat characteristic dishes at acceptable prices, even thinking that probably it is the only place to find food in the evening in Slane.

Just went for dinner so can't comment on rooms. Restaurant was nicely lit and quiet enough for normal conversation. Food was very good. We had fish and chips and the burger. Service was good. Prices were decent. Parked out front on street. Midweek so no issues. Might be a bit more difficult on a weekend. Thumbs up.

Dropped in for Sunday lunch. Listened to a waitress continuously bashing cutlery into a basin right beside our table. She didn't even try to be quiet. Roast beef arrived. Very well presented but for €16.50 it was very tough and fatty. Staff weren't friendly at all. No atmosphere. Such a shame as I used to love the place.

Great place to stay and close to the amenities. Very friendly staff and shout out to Mark in the bar for our great late night drinks... he was a gentleman and so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately no cucumber for my gin 😕 😍🤣. Not very wheelchair friendly Unfortunately. I have some issues so climbing stairs and long corridors to room didn't suit me. But I managed and the ambience of the place made me really enjoy my stay. Thank you to all the lovely staff.

We didn't stay at the hotel unfortunately because we got upgraded to the Orchard Holiday Village. But the people there were awesome. Breakfast was delicious - we had pancakes, irish breakfast and salmon with scrambled eggs. Fish and chips and masala for dinner are great as well. A little bit disappointed that we didn't get the chance to stay a night at the hotel as it looks gorgeous.

Beautiful, quaint, old style hotel in the centre of Slane village. Rooms are spotless and spacious and very comfortable. Exceptionally friendly staff who give sterling service. Delicious breakfast. Perfect location for touring the Royal County. Very reasonable price. Highly recommend

Really nice room and staff were good. The buffet continental breakfast was nice but cooked breakfast wasn't the best. Had a terrible sleep as youths staying in the hotel were running around the corridors and banging things, think the night porter told them to quieten down at 3am.

Reviewing the restaurant: I ordered goat cheese salad. After some time eating I discovered one leaf of salat with a MOLD! So i told it to the waiter. He took it to the kitchen and when he came back he said “it was just dirty but we give you a new salad”. After this offensive and dishonesting comment i refused the new salat. This waiter even did NOT SAY SORRY. Really never happened in my life!

The lunch and dinner were absolutely fantastic. The service was hit and miss. Tables weren't set properly either for the lunch we had or the dinner. Had to ask for cutlery on both occasions. Breakfast was a complete let down. Specifically asked for soft poached eggs got bullets instead. Rashers were like leather. Tomatoes had no flavour at all but what really annoyed me was 2 cafetiers for the stewed half cold tea and absolutely rotten coffee. No selection of yogurts apart from fudge. Rooms had everything you wanted but the heat was unbelievable we couldn't open the windows and no fans were supplied. This needs to b addressed.

Had the best afternoon tea in a long time here. Everything was done fresh. Lovely and tasty, scones just fresh out of the oven. We had the Bones and Scones Halloween tea. Staff were lovely and friendly and made a fuss of our daughter.

Gorgeous hotel! We stayed in rooms in the old post office. Great space and all the facilities you need. Clean, comfortable and smelled amazing!!! Breakfast over the road at the hotel was also lovely. Friendly and welcoming service. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely old guesthouse, the rooms and windows are old. The location was good and there was a car park. Breakfast and dinner was good. No lift and as it is a small old hotel, the stairs are a bit uneven, but definitely had charm. I would stay here again.

We had our wedding here in December, 2023. From start to finish, our wedding coordinator, Tracie, couldn't have been more helpful and made the whole experience as stress-free as possible. The day itself was brilliant and went off without a hitch, the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was how we wanted it. Our guests all loved the food, especially the beef main course. I loved how intimate the venue was, you were never running around looking for people, and it meant it was easy for me to get around to talk to all of the guests (we had 98 and it was perfect for this number of guests). The bedrooms were also lovely and the beds were very comfy. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and just felt really cosy and inviting. From the ceremony to the breakfast the next morning, we were delighted with how everything went, if we could do it all again we wouldn't have changed a thing. I would highly recommend The Conyngham Arms as a wedding venue. Thanks again to Tracie and all the team!

I’ll keep it short and sweet even though I have so much good things to say. Best wedding venue in Ireland & our guests couldn’t have been happier with the food and service! Tracie - amazing!!! Staff - unbelievable! Food - DIVINE!!! We can’t wait to go back and stay just us & have made this a regular little lunch spot since we first viewed the venue. Everybody must get married here 😭❤️❤️

Went here for afternoon tea with my family. We got a warm welcome and the place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Food was delicious 😋. The young man looking after us couldn't have been more helpful. Would highly recommend.

Cute hotel right on the main road in Slane! Staff was very friendly, service at breakfast was good. Our room was just right for two people.

Fabulous hotel. I photographed a couple of weddings up there. Its really pretty, centrally located in the heart of Slane. It has a beautiful big green area and indoors dining and partying area is also great. Wonderful spot to host your wedding or wedding reception ❤️

Popped in here for a bite to eat and have a quick drink - the food was pretty good and the hotel itself is just as you might expect. Located right on the main street and we found parking right outside the door. Staff could have been a little more attentive - if they had been then I probably would have given a 5 star review.

Had an over night stay in this lovely cosy hotel with friends. Very friendly welcome on arrival and our room was ready which was a bonus as we knew we were too early checking in. Room was clean and beds very comfortable plenty of room for 3 of us. Had lovely afternoon tea and there a lovely library to sit in and have a chat in great comfort. Lovely food for dinner and all diets catered for . Staff very friendly and chatty. Breakfast was great and a good variety . We will be back again as we truly enjoyed our stay.

We are just back from a wedding there (April 22) and I have to say it was fantastic, very clean and the food and service was amazing, right down to the Night Porter (Mark) that entertained us till late in the morning, even made sure we took water with us for during the morning and helped others over the road to make sure we all got to our rooms safely, I do hope he gets recognition for this as he went above and beyond and nothing was too much to ask, plus did it all with a smile and a joke!!

The Conyngham Arms was incredible for our wedding weekend! We booked Tankardstown House for our wedding day and immediately had the support of the Conyngham Arms for accommodation for our friends and family during the days before and after the wedding. We decided to hold a welcome reception for the night before the wedding and we were blown away by the quality and style of the lavender suite and food provided. The team at the Conyngham Arms couldn’t do more for us during our wedding weekend and we can’t wait to come back and stay with them again! Thank you very much for making our weekend so special.

We had an excellent night away to this gorgeous Hotel on Sunday last. Sinead welcomed us and was just a wonderful friendly member of Staff - thank you Sinead. We enjoyed their Over 50's deal @ €149 total cost for Bed & Breakfast, 3 course Dinner and Tea/Coffee and Scones on arrival - the best deal ever. Our room was beautiful with comfy beds and a good shower. We had such a fantastic Dinner - see the photo of one of the best Beef Dinners ever with Taylor taking our order and being so nice to us - herself and Carmel served us. All our food was so tasty - we left nothing on the plates. The Chefs know their stuff. Thanks so much to all the staff for an amazing experience. We will return xx Jean and Terrie

Went in for lunch last Tuesday 15th feb 2022. We both ordered Fish & chips. Was a warm friendly atmosphere & staff were lovely. Fish was a bit bland & the chips were clearly the cheap frozen kind. Price is ok. I liked the fact that customers can see into the kitchen - always gives a good impression that they have nothing to hide. #andireviews

There's long term road works outside and very noisy. One main bulb was flickering. Stairs are a problem if you have baggage. The receptionist had a dreadful approach to hospitality. Doors have spyholes. Locks are broken so old style door chains are fitted. To quote (out of context) "Horseman pass slowly by"

Very disappointed met with a Friend Sat afternoon to show him Slane. Have been here many times previously for meals and really enjoyed.I did not realise that you did not serve coffee/tea unless a meal had been booked, and it was embarrasing to have to go elsewhere .

  • 3/5 Breda G. 2 years ago on Google
We had a family function which was pre booked but tables were not fully set, much too long waiting for meal and too long between courses. Staff seemed under pressure. Nice place though!

We stayed here as our daughter and granddaughter were taking part in an Irish Dancing festival nearby. I want happy with the options on the menu and ended up with a vegetarian curry

Didn't stay, just went for a coffee while visiting a friend. Staff were very attentive and we sat outside in the garden which, although isn't big, it makes the most of its space with picnic benches under trees, a fountain and paths to walk around. There were also old Slane Whiskey barrels for decor.

👍 Ambience is great ! The food was decent and nothing that stands out particularly. We tried the house favourites of burger oven baked thin crust pizza and the lasagne. Nothing really stood out or had a wow factor. It was just decent. Service fell terribly short as the owner was reluctant to seat us i...
