We stayed at The Forge for a long weekend as we were visiting the area for a family wedding. It was my parents, husband, brother and his partner and my toddler and newborn. The outside area was great and my 2.5 year old had such a good time on the trampoline and playing football. Any issues were sorted out quickly by Paula who was lovely. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay again.

Myself and 23 of my friends stayed at The Decoy Cottages from June 29th to July 6th of 2022. Our golf group occupied 5 of the 8 houses (cottages) that were available & everyone in my group was very pleased with their accommodations. They were very spacious & very well appointed and the welcome gift basket of assorted goodies was an unexpected & very pleasant surprise. Paula, the owner & her staff were absolutely outstanding !!!!!!! If I could give it a 10 star rating, I most certainly would. My only regret was not getting Paula to prepare more meals for our group, the 1 meal that we did have was absolutely superb. It's located about 45 min from Dublin & 15 min from Navan. The location is very peaceful and tranquil. I would highly, highly recommend this property to any family or group that is seeking phenomenal accommodations. Paula, I can't thank you & your staff for an absolutely amazing and memorable stay. Joe Glover

This was the third time of staying at Decoy and it is a fantastic facility when looking to visit relatives in the area. The accommodation caters for everything and the home cooking by Paula is worth experiencing. The homemade apple tart was delicious and so good, we took the remaining portion on our travels to Connemara the next day, which made the beach experience even better. We stayed in the Tack Room which is ideal for a couple, very comfortable, nicely decorated and the whole complex is situated in a beautiful location. If you must use devices, the WiFi was perfect.

We stayed at Decoy Cottages last weekend while attending a family wedding in the area. The cottages are very comfortable & well fitted out, we had everything we needed to hand. The younger members of our group really enjoyed the table tennis & snooker table and the BBQ seating area was a lovely place for a group gathering. Many thanks to Paula for all the communication and recommendations, we had a fantastic weekend.

We stayed in The Parlour house. It had everything you would possibly need for a holiday. The accommodation was ample, the bedrooms were very spacious, comfortable and clean. There was a welcome basket with lots of supplies, all locally produced. We stayed over Christmas and it was very welcoming, there was a decorated tree, light and candles, and a basket of fire logs. We would have no hesitation recommending Decoy Cottages to family and friends. Thank you so much for a memorable stay.

We were delighted with our short break here - we stayed in no.6. It was very clean and everything was perfect for us and an 8 month old baby! Paula and all the team were lovely too- very happy to accommodate us in anything we asked for! ❤️

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Parlour. The accommodation had everything we needed and we appreciated all the personal touches - the welcome basket and lovely products in the bathrooms. All rooms were a great size and the beds were really comfortable. Decoy cottages are in a lovely, safe and peaceful location, with easy access to surrounding villages and towns. Our boys enjoyed playing air hockey and table football in The Den as well as using the gym. Our dog Luna made friends with the owners dogs. We will definitely book again.

We stayed in the Tack Room, as part of a much bigger family wedding party who took over most of the available cottages. It was really big for two people and felt very indulgent. The welcome basket was perfect - including beautiful eggs from the in-house chickens and lovely fresh bread. All the facilities were excellent and we all made good use of the Den and the table tennis table and the lovely outside drinking area - complete with real life farming fragrances to add authenticity. Would love to come back for a more relaxing stay.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay for any reason. The welcome basket was brilliant, the equipment and furniture was unbelievable, and the staff were helpful and courteous. The den was also a great place to spend an afternoon. However, the gym equipment was not working 100%, but the table football and pool table made for a great family competition. A pub nearby would have made this the perfect location. However, we had a great family break in two cottages centred around a family wedding. I would definitely consider staying here again and highly recommend that if you need somewhere to stay, give this a go.

Fantastic accommodation. We stayed as a group for a wedding down the road. Two cottages beside each other and made an evening of the Friday night before the wedding on the Saturday. Very spacious, plenty of bathrooms and lovely place to relax the night before, and get ready the night after. Host was fantastic and left out a welcome basket. All for a very good price p/p.

What a beautiful place, a complete gem! The grounds and surroundings were lovely. We were in Ireland for a family wedding. Decoy cottages were the perfect place to stay. Stunning, excellent location, with everything you could possibly need. So much space and clean with added extras of bread, eggs, and jam etc. Paula was very accommodating allowing us to check in a little earlier. The beds were super comfy and huge. Everyone had an amazing stay. We are looking to rebook for next year! Thank you Paula for a fabulous stay xx The Fortune Family xx

What a gem, I couldn't recommend it highly enough! We were a group of 18 and it was lovely to be able to mingle between the houses. Everyone complimented the beautiful stone courtyard, it was tastefully decorated for Halloween. The welcome basket filled with bread, butter, honey and eggs was such a nice touch, plus the fresh cows milk stocked in the fridge. For a group of girls everyone appreciated the fresh towels and gorgeous bathroom products. The accommodation is warm, clean and spacious and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and cleaning. A digital guidebook was provided for our stay, plus the smart TV came in handy too! Paula was so helpful and responsive. When it came to booking local restaurants, transport or activities she was only an email away. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a place to stay in Meath.

My husband and I stayed at Decoy Cottages with our dog for a long weekend. We were very impressed with the facilities: it was clean and very easy to find. There is free parking and a secure outer gate. Also they provided two welcome baskets for us: one of fresh local food and instructions on how to connect to wifi etc, and one for our dog. There is a large grassy backyard for letting your pet out while you are staying there. The kitchen is well supplied and we were able to cook a few nights with ease during our stay. There is also a lovely fresh herb garden to help flavour meals. We booked our cottage via Airbnb and the staff were super responsive and kind. Highly recommend staying there if you are looking for a place to stay in Meath. We definitely plan on staying there again next time we're in the area.

We stayed here with our three young children and my parents stayed in another of the houses. Was terrific. The house had everything we needed for small kids and loads of other small details you wouldn't think of but which make things more comfortable (e.g. olive oil, tinfoil, dishwasher tabs, coffee machine - even a smoothie maker). Kids could play outside safely and there was a terrific trampoline which diverted them for hours. Was quiet, peaceful and very comfortable. Felt like home very quickly

We stayed in the Hen House, while our children and grandchildren were in two of the other cottages. Decoy Cottages is a paradise for young kids who can roam free outdoors safely. The only quibbles I can think of are the out-of-date or non-existent info for non-techie guests like me. But if you are a young parent, this is an ideal holiday destination where you can relax - and the kids will have a ball, hail, rain or shine!

We had a lovely stay at The Barn, Decoy Country Cottages. It was very well situated for us to explore the many beautiful locations in this part of Ireland. We had 5 adults in our party, and The Barn was spacious enough for us not to feel cramped. We were able to organise a Tesco food delivery on arrival thanks to the generosity of Paula letting us use her Irish telephone number (we couldn’t register with an English number). I can see how Decoy Country Cottages would be perfect accommodation if several families wanted to holiday together.

A great 4th visit to Decoy from the UK. Great base if you are interested in history, great scenery, walks, towns and villages with Dublin 35 minute drive or 5 minutes to Navan station and train it to Dublin City centre. We came by car ferry but there are 12 airports from UK to Dublin and 35 minutes from airport to Decoy. Apartments are top notch well kitted out and efficiently run. All topped off with the friendly staff delivering a warm Irish welcome 🌞☘️ Dec+Anne Devon

Lovely place with great facilities for families. Barn no. 3 was perfect for us. Paula's food was also really delicious and a perfect start on our arrival night.

A wonderful experience. We booked two adjacent cottages for Christmas for a family gathering and everything was perfect. The cottages are cozy with high quality furnishings and are very well equipped with everything you need. They are well suited for kids, too. The whole stay was trouble-free and any questions were answered quickly. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend. One of our best rental experiences.

We stayed at The Forge over the Christmas period and can highly recommend Decoy Cottages. The cottage was so comfortable and very well equipped. The children loved the Den as well as the Llamas and chickens. The welcome basket was really appreciated and Paula has got to be the best host ever. She went out of her way to make our stay perfect. This has got to be one of the best places that we have ever stayed at. Thank you Paula - we will definitely contact you if we are lucky enough to visit your beautiful country again.

We stayed at The Forge and I must say it was fantastic. On arrival, we were greeted by the host who couldn't do enough for us, we had a wonderful welcome gift of Locally produced Bread, Fresh Eggs, Milk, Butter etc etc. Thank you Paula this was gratefully received. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well-equipped, we even had use of the Log burner and all the logs we could use. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Decoy Cottages for comfort, hospitality and location. We are looking forward to returning in the New Year. Thank you again everyone at Decoy Cottages for making us feel so welcome.

We had a family reunion here and it was the most perfect location. There was a group of 23 of us and the houses were just perfect. We were able to all do our own thing independently and then group together in the evening for a barbecue. Paula was most helpful and very responsive to the emails prior to the event. I would highly recommend Decoy Cottages.

We stayed a decoy cottages (The Barn) prior to a family gathering. It's close to Dublin, the airport and the port. Set in a beautiful part of Meath with much to see in the surrounding area. The house is very comfortable, warm and welcoming. So many extra touches that made the difference. The welcome basket...what a treat, fresh eggs and bread!! The beds are so comfortable. Paula answered an queries quickly and nothing was too much. Added bonus we were able to charge our electric car. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The accommodations are gorgeous and huge! The buildings and grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff is lovely in true Irish tradition, making us feel so welcome and supported. Everything was exactly as represented. And it was quite close to the wedding venue and all we needed. I highly recommend Decoy Country Cottages!

We stayed at the Coach House for almost two weeks with our 10 month old daughter. The house is very spacious, and we were provided with everything you need for staying with a baby, including cot, high chair and baby bath! It was also great to have a washing machine and tumble dryer. A few small changes would make this five star - the blinds in the upstairs bedrooms are very tired and could do with replacing, and the door to the downstairs toilet would jam against the floor which was a nuisance. Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful spot with plenty of day trips nearby.

Absolutely fantastic accommodation. We are currently staying in the Hen House and it is lovely, modern and generously provisioned. On arrival there was tea, coffee, chocolates, plenty of accoutrements for cooking and a lovely welcome gift of provisions. Barbara, who we met on arrival, was amazing and so friendly, as was Paula who I spoke to on the phone before arriving. The Den next to our cottage has tons of toys for our 3 year old to play with and he loves the outdoor play area. We waved at the llamas this morning and hope to see more of them before we leave. It's no wonder this spectacular place has won awards, it's really a great place to stay.

We had a lovely and very relaxing time here at Decoy in Autumn 2021. The copybook of helpful tips on attractions in the area (thoughtfully written by other guests) was a really nice touch, as was the welcome basket. The thoughtful addition of hot chocolate sachets was a great touch too, for kids especially. The cottage complex is a converted stable mews and has been very sympathetically restored. The courtyard landscaping, outdoor areas and our cottage were all very aesthetically pleasing. It was really good that cars were not allowed into the courtyard area except for loading and unloading. This made the area quieter (there's crunchy gravel in the courtyard), and safer for kids. It was great to see a trampoline, basketball hoop and small playground for children, as well as the comfortable den area with table football etc. There was even a gym area for adults, although we did not use this, and it looked very good. It was lovely to have a stove for the cosy autumn evenings we spent at Decoy, with a great stock of wood. Perhaps a little kindling could also have been provided, as the fire refused to light on our second evening. One other area where I could suggest improvement is to provide curtains upstairs for all bedrooms. The blinds in the bedroom in our cottage where our child was sleeping did not fully block out the morning light, but the thick, full curtains in the other room worked really well. The TV in our cottage did not work (for its primary function as television), perhaps due to poor signal, as the picture was blurry and intermittent. We used the TV with the DVD player instead, which worked in the end, but was rather ancient and slow to respond. I would also suggest that the instructions about the bins/recycling could perhaps be given via with a note clearly visible on the table at the start of the stay (or maybe on the bin cupboard), rather than by email during the stay, as not everyone checks email when on holiday. The same applies to the email request to let the owners know if anything needs to be fixed or batteries that need to be replaced: it would be good to have this on a separate note on the table upon arrival. But these are minor quibbles, and just suggestions for further improvement to what is a great place to stay. For a two night stay it can seem quite pricey, particular for bank holiday weekends. But we had a wonderful time and would go back, perhaps at a less expensive time of year! Loads to do in the area, and this cottage complex is great, and potentially even more fabulous with a few tweaks!

Beautiful location and setting. My house was spotless and very comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with all I needed to cook. The starter goodie bag was really lovely touch with all local produce. Paula makes a big effort to have ecofriendly products in the house and the voya shower gels, shampoos etc were a real treat. I had my dog with me too; the place was very well set up for pets and very safe. I would definitely recommend decoy cottages to friends and family.

Such a fantastic location, Paula was so helpful in the run up to our stay and while we were there. The cottages themselves were beautiful and really great spaces for our big groups. Incredibly child friendly with lots to do. Just an all round fab place to stay.

Accommodation was great, a few minor adjustments but our host Paula was quick and efficient in meeting our requirements. The place is well equipped and was comfortable for our family of 8. Lovely play areas for adults and children. It is remote but with lots to offer at the location so not to feel bored. We wanted a place just to relax and enjoy our family reunion after Covid's tragic affect on our family. Decoy Cottages was perfect. I found the Cottages a little far from the shops as it was a self catering unit. We didn't hire a car but found a Local Taxi service that was available on What's app with afordable and friendly service to take us wherever we wanted to go. I highly recommend Decoy cottages to anyone who wants to enjoy a respite time. Thank you Paula for your kindness and generosity. I will definitely be back.

Amazing place for families - spacious, cozy, well equipped ... with a fireplace to keep you warm on a rainy evening! Lots of sightseeing in the area, lots of fun activities as well. Wonderful rural setting yet near Dublin. We had a great time there, our youngest enjoyed the great playground and chickens behind the house, and the cat that was visiting us every morning. Just wonderful - great place, great hospitality! Thank you, Paula!

We have stayed at Decoy Cottages on four different occasions and each time has been superb. The service from Paula and the team is excellent. The cottages are so well catered for and a lot of thought has been given to what people really need when away from their own home. Location is perfect for airport, Dublin port, Dublin City and holidays around Meath/Louth/Dublin. We will be back again this year.
