Church was closed but the cemetery is full of history - I came here after going on a guided tour at the Martello Tower at Millmount Museum, from which I learned about the Cadaver Stones, a memento Mori from the Middle Ages. See pictures.

Love it. Lovely Georgian interior with vintage organ. Peal of eight bells from 1791, rung twice weekly. Arguably my favourite bells in the whole of Ireland, and a joy to ring. I will say this though, the electrified gates are HORRENDOUS. Opens for about 20 seconds then closes, meaning that you have to be damn quick if you're going into the church carpark!

Stunningly lovely church and graveyard. Full of little gems to view. *It can be difficult to get access to the church, during the arts festival it is usually open for a performance or two and is worth it just to get inside!

Drogheda has lots of churches and to make life complicated for visitors there are two churches in the town named ’St. Peter’s’. Of the two St. Peter’s Church of Ireland is the one that you need to visit if you are interested in old graveyards. Built on the site of an earlier church, St Peters is an excellent example of a Georgian church and there are not too many of those in Ireland. It may sound as a advertisement for beer at least one tourist guidebook described it as “probably the finest provincial Georgian church in Ireland”. Unfortunately as I visited late in the day I did not gain entry to the church but I spent about an hour viewing the graveyard which is very different to most that I have photographed to date. The most unusual thing that I came across was a “cadaver stone” taken from the tomb of Sir Edmond Goldyng and his wife Elizabeth Fleming. It is built into the churchyard wall, east of the present building and shows two cadavers enclosed in shrouds which have been partially opened to show the remains of the occupants of the tomb.

St Patrick's church is in the center of town and cannot be missed with the spectacular spire to help locate it. The church is lovely and a beautiful building. The interior, like most churches is very relaxed and a respectful, ambient athmosphere. The exhibits are very well explained and the story is detailed in exhibits. There is also a relic of the true cross which is quite interesting. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

My father and I went to visit this church in Drogheda while going on a day tour to Belfast in July 2013. It's a beautiful church.

The church of ireland needs to change its stance on tourists if your coming on Sunday to looking at the church a small fee of €2 should be for a tourist that €52000 for the up keep is not easy money thats why they need to charge a tourist to welcome in principle and theroy is okay

We had just come from visiting Newgrange and wanted to walk around and find some restaurants. Walking down the road and stumbling onto this magnificent structure was certainly unexpected. This is worth seeing first hand!

I visited this church to attend a concert. The musicians were top and the acoustics excellent. But the church itself was so beautifully kept and decorated that made a fantastic backdrop for the concert.
