5/5 24th April 2022 Came here for a hike recently. Lovely place. Saw a lot of creatures here and a lot of prints left behind my creatures from the night. Learned a lot and enjoyed my visit. Would come here again for sure.

Firstly let me tell you the magic of this place… both the sunset and the sunrise is special. The drive there is just out of this world, especially in the sunset, while camping 🏕 here is also not real, just see the pictures and you will understand how beautiful this place is. Words cant describe the memories made from this rock formation..

This is how it feels when you reach the destination! A great destination for off-roaders in UAE, I had been to this place several time and now I heard it is a tourist spot for public. The red sands of Sharjah during sunny day in winter season is my favorite time to drive this place. There are many hidden gems near fossil rock including the Maleha Archeological Museum. I have got many friends during the drive including locals, European, American and other part of the globe. You will see how much I enjoyed here from my pictures.

Beautiful place! A great opportunity to see the real desert with rocks, sand and dunes. You will need a four wheels cars and some experience, because it is an isolated area. There are some wrecked cars which give a very mad max vibe to the whole area. I highly suggest visiting it if you want to see a real desert.

Visited Fossil rock recently and what an experience. The hike through the sand and big dunes were a different experience. The sunset opens up amazing views and great photos can be captured.

Love a trip to the desert to see the sunset. Great fun driving through the dunes and walking up the tops to the dunes to take in the views. Don't forget to drop into the local bakery to get some flat bread and mango smoothy. They are superb.

Excellent place for camping, it's easy to reach there following the GPS but you need a 4x4. Few things to consider :In the night can be very windy so fix your tent properly if you want to sleep well, get a double layer tent to avoid humidity. The weather can drop to 15 degrees in November and 10 in December,January.

We went there for a hiking with the group of people. We have started at 15:30 and we are at the top and spent our time there during the sunset. The view was amazing. It is a great place for beginner offroad drivers. There are always people around to help. There are places that you can drive with a non off-road car and take a walk between sand dunes. It is rich for desert wild life too especially in the non busy days. I recommend early morning for seeing animals.

The hike to Fossil Rock is very funny, as you will bave to walk through sand and rocks, you will need to slightly climb up the mountain and make it as challenging as you want (there are different options to climb up/down depending what you want to do). The hike is not very demanding (a bit over 300m of elevation) but it can be dangerous when it requires to climb the rocks. I wouldn’t say it is for beginners, but I have no experience climbing and still went through it with no problems, you just need to be careful with the sliding rocks. The views are stunning from the top, it’s simply amazing. A couple of hours it’s all you need to go up and down at a slow pace and stopping to take pictures and recover from the walk while you are going up. Definitely, the best hike I have done until now around Dubai (it’s only half an hour away from the city)

Stunning place, great views and wonderful drive up to the top. Going on a weekday is nice and quiet. You need a 4x4 but fairly easy, and garage is close for inflating tyres once your back on the tarmac

One of my favorite places. I scored it 4 because of ppl’s trash. Easy hike but if you are unfit and a beginner, pls take it slow and take lots of water with you. It can be cold and windy up there, so prepare for that.

It was a great experience hiking with friends. We took on the dunes towards the fossil rock then hiked to the summit. It was in the evening so the sunset was amazing.

Went up to the rock in our Ford Ranger Wildtrack for breakfast. It was not a difficult ride, but was after rain so the sand was a bit more hard. Beatiful views from the top. There is a track around Fossil Rock, which looks difficult at first, but in retrospect wasn't. Beautiful scenery all around.

You can drive in a SUV somewhere close to the fossil Rock location as the road is a hardened one and maybe park and walk a bit inside (approx 20 to 25 minutes)... if not in a 4x4. Off road skill level required is somewhere between beginner to intermediate. Can get scary sometimes when driving up the slope and over patches where dune sand has recently been accumulated. Don't go alone for sure. Once near the rock you can climb a bit and see lots of fossils around. Amazing sight. Enjoy and please do not litter.

Even if you don’t have 4*4 car you can reach this breathtaking location. I’ve parked my car beside Maleha road and run towards Fossil rock. Unique experience for those who are bored from usual running routes but definitely it worth it. Overwhelming Bizarre outlines, orange and sometimes brown dunes, challenging heat will take you away from daily routine and occupy your body and soul.

One of the best places to visit by an offroad car. Very relaxing and peaceful. Also can do small hikes up the rocks. The view on both sides is amazing. One the best places to see the sunset.
