A bit disappointed with this castle ๐Ÿฐ I've been to so many that this one looks bland in comparison. The price is quite expensive for a self guided tour for such a small castle. There is close to no sign explaining the paintings, we don't know who painted them, when it was painted and where it is from. Moreover the lighting could use some serious work, you cannot even take a proper look at a lot of those painting because the light is blasting onto them. The rooms explanations are a bit short. I don't feel like I learn a lot during the visit. The staff wasn't nice at all compared to the other places I've visited in Dublin so far. On the bright side, the buffet hall looks incredible! I really liked it. I also enjoyed one of the last room with the sculptures looking alike paintings! If you have spare time, spare money, and it's raining outside go check it out. Otherwise I wouldn't bother putting it on my bucket list. Go the Chester Library instead, the staff is great there and the collection is pretty damn cool ๐Ÿ˜œ

The name is misleading as there are almost no remanents of the previous structure. The patio is nice, but you can see it in a few minutes. Inside, there is nothing that really called our attention, and I would not recommend going unless you have absolutely nothing else to do in the city. In short, it is a beautiful patio, regular house, nothing like a castle.

Visited Dublin Castle and it totally exceeded my expectations. It's like stepping back in time with its cool mix of old and modern architecture. The gardens are a hidden gem - perfect for a relaxing break. Being a significant part of Irish history, this was definitely a highlight of my Dublin trip!

Dublin Castle was really an art museum. Mostly filled with pictures and stately furniture from the past. it is beautiful to walk through the space, and it is still used as a government building today. It has all the grandeur that you would expect with the pageantry of decorated walls, heavy colors, and portraits of lords and the aristocracy. if you're into the Victorian era, then this is really a place to see it's a quick tour through. We purchased our tickets with the Go City Pass, and all we needed to do was scan a QR Code at most of the sites that we wanted to see. From Dublin Castle it is a short walk over to Christ Church cathedral, St. Patrick's cathedral and the Jameson's Distillery. All are within a 15-minute. There was no parking in this area, but the go Dublin bus stops right in front. OK for older kids, but your kids will probably get bored quickly. Budget about 1 - 1.5 hours to see the space. There is a restroom here. Lockers for personal items, but no food or snack bar. There are plenty of restaurants in the area.

The castle is a must visit experience for Christmas time! With a live choir singing carol songs and some good street food options. The lights are lovely too , not too crowded we went in on a Monday!

We had a great time here, and opted for the guided tour which took us all around the grounds. Our guide was really funny and knowledgeable about the castle and really enjoyed learning about the history of this place. 10/10 recommend a visit if you're in Dublin

Lovely exhibition of paintings and furniture from around the 1900s . Self-guided tour is cheaper than guided tour. It is fine so far , but I missed that the different rooms were either signed or the audio guide would have had better directions so you can make sure you're in the right room before the next audio plays. Other than that, it's the right choice if the weather is bad and you're interested in Irish history and art๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ’š

Went for a free entry visit during the summer and had a pleasant view of the place. It's a big enough tour with a leaflet of information and information cards next to showcased objects. It became a little boring after a while but nice to check out the history and architecture.

Did the self guided tour. It was a bit busy but not to bad. People were nice and respectful when taking photos. Great art, beautiful rooms. Would have liked to have done the guided tour to see the excavations, but it was a long wait. Definitely worth going.

A beautiful building showcasing where the viceroy of Ireland had lived until Ireland received its independence. We decided to embark on the self-guided tour and they did provide a very comprehensive booklet filled with information about each room and the different events and purposes for each one. It is quite a lovely castle, but unfortunately, only a few rooms are open and one can't go into the church/tower without going on a guided tour. There are also a lot of paintings and artwork that don't have signs and are not well-explained. More information would have been nice to have under/near some of these as well. There is still a lot one can see with opulent rooms, a throne, and beautiful halls

At the time of writing this review, admission to Dublin Castle is free. Through the self-guided tour, you can view various writings on Irish history. The tour shows important figures and events relating to Dublin Castle. There are many great pieces of art on display in the castle. If you are interested in a bit of history or art, would recommend a visit.

Amazing experience inside the castle. The rooms were beautifully decorated with pictures and paintings and other historical stuff. Definitely worth going. The tickets are available online and offline and very affordable and worthy

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was lucky enough to visit in May right before they had a big event so we were able to see all of the public rooms and the set up for state dinners. The portraits and art throughout are beautiful. We enjoyed walking around inside and outside. The tour was pretty quick and fast paced so be prepared to walk fast to keep up and stay on schedule!

A residence from the outside a bit poor while from the inside quite regal and elegant. I found it a bit small but it still had its effect because every corner was cared for by golden finishes, paintings, slightly dark and opaque baroque mirrors, chandeliers, armchairs and the beauty of the past in every room. . My favorite was the last one in which there were paintings on the ceiling. Really very refined

Very central in Dublin. Historically very interesting and has some lovely paintings throughout the state rooms. Itโ€™s still used for official state visits and therefore is not just a museum. Gardens at the back can also be visited. Little guide book they hand out is worth reading and gives a great background.

Very cool to see, you have to visit if you at in Dublin even if youโ€™re here for a short visit. I have never toured the castle but there are plenty of benches around the outside and the views are great. Plus this is one of the best spots in Dublin in my opinion.

Slightly more limited experience while emerging from lockdown but free admission for now. Good welcome and information provided although pictures being rehung so now limited info on those. Goods insight into history of Irish presidents, history of the castle and an interesting exhibition of modern metalwork art.

We enjoyed a walk round the castle. We thought it was reasonably priced and there were some interesting pieces to read and view in the castle. There's also secure storage for your bags while you walk around and guided tours are available for โ‚ฌ12. We went self guided for โ‚ฌ8.

Nice place. It's okay and we visited it for free so that was great. If you don't know what to do in Dublin, that's always an option. I won't say it's one of the bests spotlights but it's nice.

A great opportunity to visit the castle for free till the end of this year. I did enjoy it although some parts are closed eg. the drawing-room. But still. I liked it. Intresting sculptures - made of sand - in the yard. The garden is also a nice place to have a rest. It's worth a visit.

This was my first time ever visiting a castle. As someone whoโ€™s into shows and movies related to monarchies, royalty, and period pieces in general, it was really cool to visit a castle while in Dublin. It was absolutely beautiful in there. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see what it was like during those times. I recommend visiting while in Dublin. Your ticket to the castle also gives you access to the secret garden and art museum.

It was a lovely experience. I liked walking around the building and sitting in the small garden having a coffee, and to be inside and see all the furniture and art. Also one of the halls is still working for the official meetings.

I have been on a castle trail in Scotland and compared to that, this isnโ€™t great. But I guess for what it is, itโ€™s worth the visit. The interior is pretty grand with intrinsic architectural detailing, multiple paintings, and fine visual treat. It might not take more than an hour totally to go in and out of the castle if you are of the tendency to read and enjoy every single display. It is in the heart of Dublin City and there is an entry fee. If you are a student, it will cost you โ‚ฌ6, otherwise itโ€™sโ‚ฌ8 for an adult.

Nice visit, not a full blown traditional castle but and interesting place to have a look around, not fully open to the public by the looks of it. Took us about 30-40 minutes to walk around everything inside. They have student discounts too.

Beautiful castle and lots of history. Our guide was not very enthusiastic though. And the day we went she couldn't get into the church since she had the wrong key, which was disappointing. I would personally skip the guided tour and just do the main house on your own. We went on a Monday morning and there were very few people there so it was perfect for photos outside.

A great place to visit ! Unfortunately we were not able to see the medieval area because an official even was happening but the Chapel and the vestiges of the Castle were great! It is amazing how it is protected and well organized. The must is the organ in the Chapel, such a beautiful piece of art. Highly recommended!

Dublin Castle is one of the most important historical sites in Ireland. It was built in the 13th century on the site of a Viking settlement and served as the seat of English and British rule in Ireland for over 700 years. Today, it is a museum, a government complex, and a venue for state ceremonies and events If you want to learn more about the history and significance of Dublin Castle, I highly recommend taking a guided tour. We had a wonderful experience with our guide, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. She showed us around the State Apartments, the Chapel Royal, the Medieval Tower, and the Viking Excavation. She also shared many interesting stories and anecdotes about the people who lived and worked in the castle over the centuries. It was fascinating to see how the castle changed and evolved with different eras and events. One thing to note is that you can only buy guided tour tickets in person at the castle. You can buy self-guided tour tickets online, but you will miss out on a lot of information and access to some parts of the castle. We arrived around 11 am and the next available tour was at 3:30 pm. Luckily, we had time to spare and we enjoyed exploring the nearby attractions (and grabbed lunch). Overall, we had a great time visiting Dublin Castle and we learned a lot about Irish history and culture.

We did the guided tour which takes about an hour. You have to book these tickets at the desk on the day so you may have to wait if there's no availability. But I think the guided tour is worth it. I Really enjoyed it. I was with 2 teenagers and an older child. Very informative tour. There's also lovely gardens and cafe.

I went in the middle of January, off season. I had a blast. The guided tour was worth it. The Chapel Royal was well preserved. The record tower is the only intact part of the original Castle. The Rest of the buildings were the center of Government during Irish and British rule. So much history here. I would highly recommend checking it out.

Since we didnt have much time we opted for entry without a tour. Due to this we only saw the chambers and portrait exhibition. If you have the time choose the guided tour which will also show you around the medieval cellar and other parts of the castle.

A must see in the center of town for its history, but much more than I thought of as a โ€˜castleโ€™ โ€ฆ enjoyed the walk through and then spent a good amount of time in the area visiting the gardens and Beatty right next door.

This was an enjoyable experience overall. There are many different rooms to go through. These rooms are typically filled with photos, or paintings of significant figures. The booklet you get when you arrive contains great information and details about the rooms and paintings. The entire exhibit is indoors. There is a Garden located behind the castle which is also quite nice. When I visited, the chapel and Tower was closed for construction so we didn't get to see those during our visit.

We came across the Dublin Castle and once we entered, we had to pay for the tickets and we couldnโ€™t carry our bag so we had to put it in a locker room. Overall, the experience was very interesting to see thereโ€™s not much to do but if you want to see the historical padt, then definitely it will be a treat for you.

Very interesting visit to a crucial place in Ireland's history and independence process. I specially recommend the last hall, the biggest in the castle, full of ancient flags, fantastic decoration in the ceilings. Don't leave without visiting the small round garden beside the castle (it is free).

Had more of a manor house vibe than a castle but still a great building with a lot of history. We spent about an hour going around, but I imagine a little more time could be taken. Definitely worth looking through the info booklet as you go around. Can be busy, so keep that in mind. The garden behind the castle is nice for a short walk too!

There was some impressive artwork to look at and the building itself has incredible architecture! If you have some time and are in the area I would recommend giving this place a stop. Itโ€™s not worth going out of your way for but it is definitely interesting. There is a large ballroom with some of the most beautiful artwork on the ceiling, which was a group favorite for us!

Nice castle with lots of history! Many historical figures have stayed in this castle during diplomatic visits. The tickets were free at the time of my visit. Dublin Castle is a captivating mix of history and architecture. The castle offers visitors a glimpse into the country's rich past. The medieval tower, State Apartments, and Chapel Royal showcase impressive craftsmanship. The beautifully landscaped gardens add a serene touch to the overall experience. Great to attend a gig in the hall or market in the courtyard.

Not sure if this was a seasonal thing, but I got in for free. The tour was specifically for The State Apartments and everything was decorated for Christmas. So it was very festive. There was also a metalsmithing exhibit so that was fascinating. The information on the different president of Ireland was informative as well. Since it was free, the experience was great.

Great place to visit. The audio tour was a little disappointing. We had to stop a d download apps and then the rooms in the recording were out of order, so we had keep pausing and walking around to find what they were talking about. Some of the rooms didnt have any audio so I wasn't sure what I was looking at. Very impressive building though. The gardens were beautiful.

It's a pretty castle to visit. Nothing too big or prestigious, but then again it's not that expensive either. Getting a tour is recommended over the audio tour, because it allows you to visit the older parts of the castle as well as the chapel.

Nice spot! If your expecting and actual "castle" you might be disappointed, but it's very pretty and interesting to visit. Unfortunately the only castle portion was under renovation so nice pictures of the tower were hard to get.

We were here for a conference and took a tour of the castle. Great paintings and exhibitions. The only downside when we visited is the ongoing construction which made it challenging for some exhibitions to be seen. Other than that, everything looks excellent and friendly environment, including the garden
