Family and I loved this place. The family room was spacious and comfortably fit our family of 4. The inside and outside of this place is beautiful. The kids loved exploring the grounds and there are tons of photo ops. The breakfast was amazing as well. Quiet hotel too. I’d stay here again no doubt.

Whimsical and very fun. The rooms were well appointed and the service was excellent. Dining and staff were all fantastic. Four stars for some of the things that were in disrepair/worn out throughout the hotel and within our room (empty hand sanitizers everywhere, peeling wallpaper, TV with features that didn’t work, dining chairs that don’t fit under tables, non adjustable thermostats). Minor inconveniences.

We stayed here for 1 night on Sep 7, 2023. It was a luxury treat for our last night in Ireland after a wonderful 2 week honeymoon. Our highlights: - The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and even arranged a prompt 6:00am taxi pick-up for our departure flight. - Gorgeous decor and medieval traces of the original castle in the lobby. - Clean and elegant room and bathroom. Very comfortable bed! - Both the Knights Bar and Farenheit Restaurant were fantastic for food and drinks. Thank you everyone at Clontarf for making our time in Dublin so special! Note for travellers: this is in a residential area and it's not walking distance to the main attractions in Dublin. It is accessible by taxi or public transit. For us, it was about a 20 minute taxi drive to/from the Grafton Street area.

Wow this was a very nice stay! The receptionists are very nice, all the staff treat the guests very good. The beds were comfortable. The pressure in the shower was not the best. I would recommend looking into that. The dinner at the restaurant was awesome, food was very good. Although for breakfast, the buffet didn’t have much of a choice when you don’t get there early. I strongly suggest ordering the waffles or pay extra to get something fresh. Overall, great experience.

Spent one night here with my Son, daughter in law and grandson The King of Marley. The rooms were beautiful, very comfortable bed and slept well after a fantastic meal served up by very friendly staff and a few pints. I would highly recommend this place for an overnight stay ,it's also very convenient if you are getting an early ferry in the morning.

Got a free upgrade to a suite with a 4-poster bed. Room was fantastic, a real treat - spacious, comfortable, clean. Staff were excellent. Facilities were great. Bar is lovely. Breakfast was very good. Highly recommend this hotel. Only one very minor complaint - TV reception in the room was patchy. Other than that, everything was perfect.

My favourite hotel at all! A bit pricy but worth it! Lovely furnished and decorated rooms, bar and restaurant. Rooms are always very clean. Staff at the reception is friendly and always there, taking care of each and every query one has. Nice surroundings in a suburb of Dublin, but the city centre can easily be reached by bus or even by a nice walk if you are not in a hurry. I love this place and a minimum stay of two nights is always a "must" for me when traveling to Ireland.

Good location, free parking, very clean. Busy lunchtime patrons in, obviously popular with the locals. coffee was a tad cool for my liking, Guinness not topped off properly, so huge head on it, certainly didn't get a full pint. Didn't want a fuss as on a social meeting. Staff very pleasant in the bar, maybe could do with more help.

The place is beyond our expectations. Initially we just thought it’s cool to stay in a castle but the entire stay was way better. The castle is beautiful. The hotel is very nicely decorated. The room is decent sized and the bed is super comfortable. The food is very good for both breakfast and dinner. And last but definitely not the least, the hotel staff are amazing and the service level is top notch. Strongly recommend it.

Wow what a beautiful & unique hotel! Looks as magical in person as it does in pictures— the upgraded 4 post bedrooms are every girls dream. The art and decor in the hotel looks like a museum fairytale. Staff is friendly & helpful and restaurants delicious. The Clontarif Promenade is nearby, a welcome walk after hours on the airplane. Leave your luggage and go explore all the way to Bull Island. Highly recommend! Easy taxi from the airport.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Dublin. The location was just outside the city, so it was quiet, but only a short drive to the city center. The people at concierge desk are always there to help and can easily book you a taxi in advance, which is great if you have an early morning tour. The hotel is clean and well decorated. Breakfast was delicious. There are pubs and shopping walking distant from the hotel. Safe area. The room was a good size and the beds were comfortable. Even the complementary toiletries felt premium. I would love to come back. A big thank you to the hotel team for their hospitality!

This place is quite simply a gem! Very comfortable hotel with helpful staff and medieval ambience without being chintzy. Food is superb! We arrived late the first night and we're able to eat a good dinner in the bar. Had breakfast and dinner in the Fahrenheit grille.....amazing flavors. All quite reasonably priced for an upscale experience such as this. I will be back given a chance!!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Really wish I could have stayed longer, what a great place to stay! From the moment you drive up, they have done very well here. Everything was nice, the room was great, especially the bathroom. On top of that, the service is exceptional! It is what you expect from a place like this. You have to pay extra for breakfast. Had it on the last morning. It was well worth it. Very good with a good selection. The location is good. it was not difficult to get around. The biggest factor is parking. There is plenty that makes a long day out much better. If you have not been to Dublin before, the parking isn't the best anywhere.

Wanting to spend Father’s Day meal in the carvery checked online all open. We arrived walked into a wedding no notice informing it was a wedding rude staff didn’t want to offer us a menu or seat us when asked is the carvery on as it says online rude blonde woman in bar walks away mid conversation when asked a simple question about carvery. How to ruin a Father’s Day meal don’t waste your time going for a meal here. Also if you message them about an issue you get no response also so looks like they just walk away or ignore emails instead of sorting out simple maters.

We came here for our honeymoon and WOW!! From the moment we walked in we were treated so well. Irani was the highlight of our trip. She was so helpful, friendly and ensured we had the best time. We were welcomed to a beautiful room and even the cutest swan towel decor. We are so thankful we picked here for the start of our honeymoon. Connor in the pub was fantastic as well! It wasn’t super close to downtown, but we enjoyed that! There’s so much to do in the castle that you could spend an entire day as a staycation.

The location is great. The ambience and the vibes of the hotel is so rustic. It feels just like being in a home. Such a lovely decoration. The beds were comfortable. The food was nice. You have to be early get everything in buffet as it finishes soon. The staff was friendly and available for our requests.

We felt very taken care of here, arrived weary and early and Sebastian took great care of is- he was excellent, providing a map and bus information and even coins for the bus into Dublin. Our room was immaculately clean and spacious and the bathroom was awesome- and they provided a washcloth and top sheet which was a first for is during our 11 days in Ireland. 10/10 I give this place. They have done a great job of restoring the castle.

For us staying at the Clontarf Castle was a unique experience. We usually do not stay at such an upscale place but we will never regret doing so here. The place is immaculate, and the staff were friendly and helpful at every opportunity. The rooms were well done and modern. The baths appeared to have been recently remodeled. If you are staying in Dublin and would like a special experience, we highly recommend staying at Clontarf Castle.

Beautiful old Irish castle that now serves as a functional hotel. The rooms are modern and clean, and the hotel staff are incredibly friendly and cater to your every need. There's a general impression of grandeur as you walk through the sliding glass doors of the main entrance into a larger reception area, complete with fireplace, seating and with fitting decoration. We also made a reservation at the Fahrenheit restaurants home to an award winning chef, within which the food was amazing, perfectly presented and absolutely delicious, restaurant staff were also incredibly friendly, polite, and professional. The only downside to the location with it being located in the city centre is some rooms do not have scenic views of the surrounding hills of Dublin, this is to be expected. Overall a wonderful stay

We had a nice stay for our first time in Ireland. The local bus transportation picks up right around the corner. It was very convenient. The front staff was nice and did their best to accommodate our requests and/or needs. I would recommend this location.

What a stunning wedding to start the year at Clontarf Castle Hotel. Amazing couple and a top venue, stunning inside and out. The perfect venue if you want a castle wedding in Dublin City. Only about a 2/3 minute drive from the coast too.

Loved it. More than just a hotel, it was an experience. Staying at this castle has been one of our highlights of our trip so far. Staff was friendly and very helpful whenever we had questions about everything.

My husband and I spent our last night in Dublin at the Clontef Castle and it was the perfect way to end our honeymoon. We both absolutely loved this hotel! The entrance is grand with a long beautiful driveway leading up to the hotel lined with beautiful trees. I love that the hotel incorporates the old with the new and supports local businesses by using their products. The hotel has that old world charm with the modern amenities (including AC which several hotels we stayed at did not have). All staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive to ensure we were experiencing a wonderful stay. We absolutely loved the charm and uniqueness of this hotel as well as the cleanliness, modern amenities and quality service. Two things that we really enjoyed were: There is a small gym in the basement, we ended up not using it but we’re happy it was there. The hotel is a short walk away from the water. After breakfast we were easily able to go for a walk on designs walking paths and explore local parks. This made the experience so much nicer!

So much purple! I enjoyed walking around and exploring. There are suits of armor, tapestry and history. The bar is great. The food was good. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The walk along the promenade was relaxing.

Attended a wedding recently, the staff were tremendous, especially Alejandro who went above and beyond. Very nice premises. The food was great. Drinks were a bit pricey though.

I attended a business event at Clontarf Castle and stayed the night. The room was comfortable, if a little dated. It's in need of an update or refresh of furniture, carpets, etc. And there was a lot of noise in the morning. The function was well run, and the food was excellent. Service was attentive and professional. The Castle is stunning and in a great location. Visitors to Ireland will be delighted by the history, and the decoration of the hotel makes Clontarf Castle a really special experience. It was beautifully dressed for Christmas when I was there.

Absolutely beautiful location! Very lucky to be at a wedding here a couple of weeks ago! The wedding room itself was absolutely stunning, so large and spacious, tables were set up so beautifully. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly and polite also. I didn’t get to stay over night however my friend did. When I went up to see her room, it was very exquisite, very clean, neat and comfortable. 10/10 wouldn’t hesitate recommending this hotel. Food was also so incredible.

If you're looking for a warm inviting place to stay with a little romance of the past this is it. The rooms were very comfortable, well kept and clean. The hotel staff is one of the warmest and kindest I've met in quite some time. The food, well for a hotel I would say is excellent! The only drawback, and it may be Ireland in general is the Internet and television service. Other than that, for a Honeymoon, I think it was worth it!

Great experience. All members of the hotel staff were great (Helen and Yvonne, and Marilena were all great to talk to and helped out a lot). Loved the rooms and the hotel itself is beautiful.

This hotel was very neat, the outside had a definite castle feel and the inside was well decorated and comfortable. Featuring 3 bars/restaurants; so there is much to try. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable.

I highly recommend do not eat in Clontarf Hotel restaurant. I order the seafood chowder. I got chowder from leftover of fish . Was covered with the flour cream sauce without any spices. The taste of the flour is strongly felt. Overcooked sweet potatoes. A Sahere seafood place to take out with salmon and shrimp Too much vinegar on the prawns, with 2 small slices of bread 2cm X 3cm small. You can't even put salmon on top of the bread. A few years ago, I was there ordering Irish stew. Waitress, bring me green stew. I was asked, "Bridget Jones works at Kitchen?" Please change the chef. I live very close, and I would like to show my friends  a nice hotel with excellent architecture, but again, the food is terrible. The place is good, but the food is awful.

Clontarf Castle was a fantastic hotel. The building itself is beautiful, with elements of the medieval and post-medieval castle well preserved to explore. Amazing art lines the hallways. The staff were very kind and helpful. Dinner was fantastic at the Fahrenheit Grill. I would recommend the hotel to anyone—the perfect getaway.

Beautiful. The staff top notch. The rooms are beautiful. The location is great. Bit more upscale than we were used to, but they did not fault us for clean jeans and polos for dinner. So much history and art on all floors that are free to see.

If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in Dublin, look no further than Clontarf Castle Hotel. During my recent stay, I was blown away by the exceptional service of the world-class staff who went out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect. The hotel is situated in a beautiful environment, with breathtaking views of the castle, providing the perfect backdrop for relaxation. The spacious and modern rooms were clean and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The food served at the hotel was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options that cater to every taste. Trust me, this Castle experience is not one to be missed and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly amazing stay in Dublin.

My daughter treated her Aunt and I to an overnight stay a couple of weeks ago. What a wonderful hotel. Great ambience. Would definitely return again. Only complaint was the number of children who were attending an event and allowed to run through the lobby and main areas while enjoying a table full of sweets.

We had a wonderful meal. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and looked after us really well. They were very interested to hear we had celebrated our Wedding there 58 years ago and have been returning frequently ever since. Wonderful time. Highly recommended

  • 3/5 Review G. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely setting. Rooms were nice. Wanted a bath got a shower. Two issues with the place. - Its overpriced for what you get especially midweek. - They wanted another 30 Euro for breakfast - which is lovely but not worth 30 euro. Castle is lovely and its beside the sea. Can see how its tailored towards weddings and events. Would go back if it was cheaper - if your using it as somewhere to sleep stay somewhere else. As my gran would say "life is short - eat nice breakfasts"

  • 5/5 Maria C. 2 years ago on Google
Total luxury, with quirky decor! Ample free car parking. Staff were really friendly, food was good, fab breakfast. Room excellent, clean and comfortable and only 'fault' was we were at the back of the building, so no view! Room wasn't ready when we checked in so we were given complimentary drinks while we waited. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Definately recommended.

On holiday from England. Came here one afternoon for a meal. I had 8oz burger which was very tasty, nicely dressed and toasted bun, nice salty chips. Very reasonable price for food you get. I will cone again and perhaps stay in the hotel too. They were putting up the Christmas decorations today and I'm sure they will look great.

Clontarf was the venue of our wedding and the backdrop of many a stay-cation. The venue is a classy spot that makes you feel outside the city. But the true 5 stars here is the staff, which is why we chose this place to host our wedding. Couldn't ask for nicer service from any of them.

  • 5/5 Nigel w. 2 years ago on Google
Brilliant service from arrival to departure. Room was huge and the shower wonderful hot and powerful. Great choice for my breakfast each day. Good location out of the city centre but easy access there and to the business district on the North Wall.

  • 2/5 James E. 2 years ago on Google
The food was poor and badly prepared, the menus weren't accurate so the wine and the food choices had to be changed at.ordering, the server didn't have a pencil to record the order thus the mains were delayed as the order wasn't made correctly, the truffle fries are just regular friends with cheese and mayonnaise on top, the yellow curry was more like a brouth soup and no way like a curry sauce, there was no facility to give feedback at the time and no one asked why the food was returned. Merry Christmas

  • 1/5 Dearbhla F. 2 years ago on Google
Unimpressive hotel charging very inflated prices for a well below par service. Just returned from a 3 night Christmas package at this hotel. Paid €2676 + some add on's for drinks etc for 3 night for 4 adults. Firstly we were met by complete disarray at the check in desk. Broken English from staff who evidently did not have any understanding of what was included in our package. The hotel was clearly under staffed during breakfast service on 2 of the 3 mornings during our stay with long waits for basics like teas and coffees to our table. The hotel served a buffet style Christmas dinner where we had to queue for food which was of very average quality- social distancing was non existent- the buffet was a mess, no clear direction on foods and staff appeared to be just standing there not engaging with anyone- we were travelling with two older guests who were left completely muddled by this half hazard display - not what you'd expect for this sort of money!! We did not receive evening nibbles as per the package which we had paid for and were left hungry. The staff were unaccommodating to our requests to send some food to our room and when advised that we would leave the hotel and feed ourselves elsewhere that night, they finally made up 4 small sandwiches -2 of which we deemed unpalatable. We brought the short comings of our visit to the duty manager Chris on Christmas night. He advised that he would have management call us. This is ultimately what annoyed us the most. We received a call from John in management the following morning. He firstly tried to pass the problems of our stay off by offering a bottle of wine with evening dinner. We declined his offer. From there, he was in his own words going to ''escalate the matter and get back to us'' Needless to say we never received any follow up call from him to our room, our mobile phone or our email (all details of which are available on our booking form). Shame on John. He never bothered and has left us exceptionally annoyed never to return to Clontarf Castle. Ps- The TV in the room where we stayed (Room 204) doesn't work properly - the channels are freezing at intervals which leaves TV viewing impossible. We did mention this to counter staff during check out -yet another issue to be addressed and not what you'd expect from a hotel calling itself a Castle.

Great location, looks fabulous from the outside, lots of parking space, staff are friendly and professional but I feel it lacks atmosphere and their main bar is lacking estheticlly and is more functional than comfortable. I'm sure the covid restrictions haven't helped. I think some small tweeks to their interior decor in the bar and dining areas would make a difference.

  • 5/5 Geoffrey F. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful setting, would be amazing for a wedding venue. Stunning decor mixing it's original medieval setting with modern hotel comforts. Very friendly staff and the food was amazing. Chicken balti burger was cooked to perfection. I've never had a nicer chicken burger. Highly recommended.

Overall disappointed in first time three day break Check in slow and errors, rather than doing pre auth on my credit card they debited it E760 in error so had to be rectified Went to our room,no heat on, was freezing, never arrived at an hotel room in winter with no heat on in room, put on heat but hour later still cold due to heating issue, so had to be moved to new room Had meal on knights grill that nite and it was cold, people sitting in their coats eating a meal Some covid issues, bfast first morn was by ordering, but changed second/third days for self service, so when covid getting worse hotel encourages queues! We were advised no room cleaning due to covid yet each day the cleaners came In Checking out hotel put our meal onto our bill even though it was included in our package, I had to advise them and get it adjusted Sorry but back to portmarnock for next dublin visit

  • 3/5 unaiza s. 2 years ago on Google
I would give the hotel a 3 star for accommodation and 1 for food. This was my second time staying at the hotel. Word of advice if you want to stay here; try and eat somewhere else. I had a three course meal with my partner here last night and it was very poorly made. Food was bland and absolutely flavourless. Now coming to the accomodation, my booking wasn't on the system which showed the lack of preparation on the staffs side. A box of chocolates was later sent to the room. There was a lot of noise coming from the alley next to the room window.

Such a beautiful hotel, each room is individually decorated so no two are the same. Love the elegant vibes where old meets new. I can not recommend this place more. Seriously, one of the best things we have ever done. The staff, each and every single person we had contact with, was wonderful and helpful and personable. The food at breakfast and at dinner was never a disappointment. We loved the hotel, with its mixture of modern and ancient. The art, in itself, was worth the visit.

Stayed in Clontarf Castle for my son's wedding. Location, service, food, facilities were superb. The staff went over and above to make the day special. I can't thank them enough for their care and attention. Our bedroom was smaller than expected, but very comfortable and stylish. A truly memorable venue.

We only stayed at this beautiful hotel for one night, wish it could have been more. Very handy for the ferry port. We had room 101, newly refurbished, the most comfortable bed 🛌 ever. A touch of luxury with the furnishings, fab shower 🚿 Breakfast was delicious, the hotel interior was amazing. We will visit for longer next time.

Great for a one-time experience or an event. Lots of history, lovely area, and mostly attentive front desk staff. Rooms could have been better maintained, for the price point. Underside of the bed was frayed and hanging down, bedside USB port wasn't working, mini fridge wasn't stocked. Conventions were held same time we were there, so lobby was very crowded and noisy - no chance for us to just sit and enjoy. We either had to go out or stay in the equally crowded Knight's Bar.

Fridge in room was a pressure sensor for their own drinks and you can't use it for your own personal use. Otherwise, such a cute place and so much to adore. Restaurant seemed a little overwhelmed but worth the wait. Renovated last around 2017 and also a quiet hidden gym room

This hotel was lovely! We stayed for two nights and they were just starting to decorate for the holidays. The staff were friendly, helpful, and the rooms were in great condition and clean. Their restaurant has very limited space and there's no spa, but the location is lovely as it's in a residential area. This is a great place to be if you plan to take taxis into Dublin.

Really neat experience! This was the last hotel we stayed at during our visit to Ireland. By far the best experience!! Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was kind and caring. We ate at one of the on-site restaurants (I can’t remember the name) it was lovely! Our food was delicious and the drinks were absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back! Price point was perfect.

Stunning hotel just back from a 2 night stay. We have been several times. The location is brilliant. Friendly staff, spacious rooms that are beautifully decorated. Only hotel ive ever been that the bar has a great atmosphere. We dined in the bar both nights. Very nice menu for both food & drinks/cocktails. Will be back again, one of our favourite hotels.

Great venue, food is tasty, rooms are comfortable. It’s very fancy. All but one of the staff are fantastic. The one staff member that works at reception some days was a bit rude and had an attitude when we asked about different things.

Went for food with some family and the meal was lovely. Very nice building, very nice wood work. The meal was simply superb, quite possibly the best lamb I have ever had. Very very tender and full of flavour. Service was very fast and servers were quite polite and expedient. Lovely ambience and a very quiet area. Price was also incredibly reasonable top.

Absolutely loved this hotel! The entrance is grand with a long beautiful driveway leading up to the hotel lined with beautiful trees and greenery. I love that the hotel incorporates the old with the new. The hotel has that old world charm with the modern amenities. All staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive to ensure we were experiencing a wonderful stay. The hotel is not in the city center of Dublin. It’s only a short drive away and it’s easy to call a taxi. I absolutely loved the charm and uniqueness of this hotel as well as the cleanliness, modern amenities and quality service.

Nice hotel with several restaurants in unique atmosphere given the building. Good service. Rooms are not too big but bathroom was newly renovated. Though we could understand each word of our neighbours conversation.... and as all hotels in Dublin, it was not a cheap stay!

  • 5/5 Heather M. 10 months ago on Google
It's not in the heart of the sites and things to do in Dublin, but it's not too far either. €20 by taxi gets you to wherever you need to be each day, or €3 by bus. The neighborhood felt safe when we all walked maybe 8 minutes, from the bus stop to the castle. The history of the castle is very interesting, and the way they have built around the castle to provide the modern amenities in the guest rooms is a perfect blend of old and new. Still mostly old though. The food in both restaurants was great. And the morning buffet breakfast was expensive but good. Only had it one morning. Casual and fine dining, tried both and both were great. I would stay again. And I would recommend it to singles or couples.
