Reception staff are incredibly rude! They are the first interaction customers have with the hotel so if I was management I would take a look at the people representing the business. Looking through other negative reviews a lot of them relate back to the rude staff. I stayed here recently and when I tried to check out the lady had an incredibly bad attitude no manners she didn’t greet me or even look me in the eye. Her tone was very condescending, she was snappy and overall rude. I said I was going for breakfast and she said “No you did not pay for it, you will have to pay now” I did pay for breakfast and I had proof that I did but she made comments to the other staff member sniggering claiming I was trying to get away with a free breakfast. I could hear her talking about me. When I came back to her with proof she laughed at me and told me “just go, I don’t care” as she made a shooing motion with her hand. How is this acceptable? I really hope you are aware of the behaviour of your staff members, I am truly disgusted and disappointed. Something needs to be done.

Lovely place to stay! Great location to get on public transport to explore Dublin. The room was clean and came with all of the necessities. The staff were helpful and nice. Arrival was seamless, as they held our bags until check in time allowing us more time to explore the area. Would stay here again!

Myself and my mum had a wonderful few days in Dublin and we stayed here. Its the best hotel I've stayed at, my mum who has mobility issues was looked after by the lovely staff. They were so friendly and helpful and we couldn't thank them enough. The breakfast was amazing with a great choice. Evening meals were great too. Bedrooms were spacious and very clean. Would definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at the Skylon hotel twice now. We had a great experience both times, highly recommend!! The first time, we were on the fourth floor and our room had a mini fridge and great lighting. The second stay, we were on the second floor and our room did not have a fridge and had poor lighting fixtures, the room was a bit dark. Not a huge deal but something we both noticed. The restaurant on the first floor is great, we ate there twice and was very happy with the service and food!

Good to visit an area of Dublin I once lived. Stayed at Skylon, Drumcondra to be close to the Airport on my way home to Cardiff a couple of weeks ago. Wonderful experience. The staff are exceptionally professional, welcoming and friendly too. My room was perfect; quiet and comfortable. I slept like a log. Thank you! I'll definitely stay again when I visit Dublin.

Room was incredibly basic, no lights that were not overheads and no drinking water provided. Room temp was outrageously high and there was no way to turn it down. Bed is like a rock and pillows were flat & smelled. Their has to be better hotels for a cheaper price.

We stayed at the Dublin Skylon for 12 days and our entire stay was extremely comfortable and more than pleasant. The hotel became our home away from home for our party of 9 people, who occupied 4 rooms for the duration of our stay. Bebe, our housekeeper, was extremely obliging and her smile and good mood was infectious, so much so that my partner and I looked forward to seeing her and having quick chats daily. It just so happens that she's also a waitress at the Spanish restaurant across the road, which we had made reservations at, when her shift at the hotel ends. As we do enjoy long walks, it was convenient that the hotel was located a decent walk away from wherever we needed to be in Dublin - we were easily exceeding our daily step goal of 12k steps, which was a massive bonus. The bus stop as well as many pubs and restaurants were right at our doorstep, and there is a very well-stocked convenience store with well-priced merchandise right next door (Lidl). My partner and I had a room that was not road-facing, which proved to be ideal as the quiet allowed us a good night's sleep every night. The rest of our party did say that their rooms, which faced the main road, were a bit noisier, but overall quite manageable. Do ask for a room that is not road-facing if you are easily disturbed. Although the rooms are not air-conditioned, we did ask that the hotel unlock our window to allow it to open fully, which they did. Together with the little fan, this allowed the breeze to keep the room comfortable. My review would have easily been a 5 star one if the hotel allowed guests to consume food, which was brought in from other restaurants/fast food outlets, in a discreet part of the large foyer area. This was strictly prohibited, and slightly inconvenient, but it did not tarnish our experience on the whole. Thank you to all staff for making our first visit to Dublin positively fantastic. I look forward to my next stay at your hotel.

Skylon Hotel-Dublin-Classy hotel in a neighborhood near Dublin City University St Patrick's Campus and Croke Park. perfect for staying near the stadium. king bed room was unsurprisingly small and to me the mattress was a bit hard. but the condition of the room was great. shower was a surprise with its space and modern fixtures. staff was super personable and allowed late check out. took a stroll through the neighborhood and discovered there are multiple interesting looking places to eat, including bakery, gourmet grocer, and a good breakfast spot. and you are very close to the River Mira and the Grand Canal with a nice walking path to stretch your legs. Would stay again without hesitation.

Stayed hear on our last in Dublin for spring break 2022. Nice hotel - not too far from downtown but you'll need a car or taxi. There are a couple of restaurants/pubs across the street as well. The breakfast was good, rooms were clean and it's a short trip to the airport. I think parking was 10 Euros with 24 hour access.

I really enjoyed my stay here, the hotel is perfect. The room is really clean and comfortable. Great location, not far from the airport and also close to the city centre. A taxi to the airport only takes about 10 minutes , very convenient. The staff were absolutely fantastic, they made my stay. Highly recommend staying here.

Had a lovely stay here recently. Staff were welcoming and room was lovely. It was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was a nice size, again very clean with decent toiletries (Rituals). There wasn’t a bath in our room but a double size shower. Although our room was overlooking the main road, it was very quiet. It was very warm and there is no air conditioning. There was a powerful fan in the room though which more than sufficed. We had breakfast included in our deal. Self service with tea, coffee and toast orders taken when seated. Range of coffee options are available. I didn’t have the hot breakfast so I’m unable to comment on that but the pastries, fresh fruit and yoghurts were all very fresh and delicious. Check out was as smooth as check-in. The hotel is about 1.5 miles from the City Centre but there are a number of buses which run from outside the hotel. The journey takes around 15 minutes to get to O’Connell Street. The hotel has a restaurant but there are also a number of eateries opposite. Would definitely stay there again!

Reasonably priced hotel with it's own car park, positioned close to the city center. It is sorounded by pubs, coffee shops and supermarkets. If you need a base in Dublin from where you can easily reach different parts of town without paying premium money for a hotel - this hotel may be a decent choice. The rooms were clean, spacious enough. Room window was looking at people's backyards so don't expect more than that. This is a place to stay in and do what you need to do in Dublin. The food in the hotel restaurant was OK, but I have found better choices around the hotel. The staff was friendly.

The hotel restaurant was first class, and the menu fantastic. You felt welcome immediately from the friendly doorman to the attentive and knowledgeable restaurant staff. I had wonderful meal, and I'd highly recommend the restaurant to anyone. One of the best steaks I've eaten and the prices were reasonable. Apologies my photo really didn't do the meal justice or the fact I am not eating carbs.

We drove from the North so easy to find and get parked up, had ordered afternoon tea which was ready on arrival and delicious, tea and breakfast lovely, bedrooms clean and comfortable, everything great until checkout, we were getting bus into Dublin to visit a museum, and weren't able to keep car parked until we returned, instead we were sent up a residential street which was one way and resulted in us getting lost on way home. Not good ending to a great stay, even offered to pay extra to keep car parked but was refused.

very disappointed. Lovely entrance , lobby and location, Restaurant big let down was told there was no children's menu was not impressed by the adults either. Biggest problem of all was no hot water in the bathroom at all . Not good if you need or like to look your best or have children. Heard other people complaining that this was day 3 without hot water.

The Skylon Hotel was an absolute gem of a find. We stayed for 2 nights. We caught the 16 bus, which has a stop right by the hotel and managed to check in early which was great. We were also able to leave our bags after we checked out which allowed us to explore Dublin a little more! The room we had was a double and it was very spacious. We'll decorated and with a nicely sized bathroom. It was all very clean and neat when we arrived. We were also able to catch the 16 or 13 bus into the centre of Dublin in less than 20 mins. There is a bar and grill but we didn't have a chance to try it out. If we are ever in Dublin again we will be sure to come back.

This is a reasonably priced relatively luxurious hotel. We chose it because of the location, since it's not a long drive to the airport from here. However, if you're planning on doing sightseeing in Dublin, you might want to choose a hotel that's in the center of town although you would have to pay more for that. The rooms were very nice. The pillows were okay. The breakfast was good. There is parking but you have to pay for it although it's not particularly expensive.

Enjoyed our two night stay in the family room. The staff were great and super friendly! We arrived quite earlier than expected and they were very accommodating and had our room ready early for us. Only two "cons" were how warm the room was and the breakfast buffet (for the price should be more options/better options). However, we would definitely return.

Within a 20 minute bus ride from the airport and great amenities, including an excellent in hotel restaurant. The beds were cozy and although there is no AC, the windows open, allowing introduction of fresh air. There are plenty of coffee, shops, and other shopping opportunities nearby as well. Overall a nice hotel and a good experience.

Just back from having spent the weekend with friends. Our interconnecting rooms on the first floor were lovely, clean, spacious and quiet. Facilities are wonderful, staff were super friendly and efficient. This is my 2nd visit and I couldn't honestly consider staying anywhere else.

Very convenient hotel to get to from the airport and with bus stops close by, allowing you to get to the center in minutes. The room was as described, perfect for our stay (lots of pillows, appreciated) and equipped with kettle and comfort products for the morning, very clean room as well as the bathroom really spacious and comfortable. The staff is the top star, very kind and always available for any request, they made the stay really smooth. The bar service is very varied and special, each cocktail was delicious and expertly prepared. When we return to Dublin, we will definitely stay here next time

We stayed here in March for 3 nights. It was superb. So much so that we've booked to return next March. There's a Lidl next door and a Spar with Deli over the road for early morning or late night snacks. There's also 2 really good pubs within a 2 minute walk, one directly across the road. The bar in the hotel also sells amazing cocktails.

Comfortable rooms, very clean and spacious, with basic amenities -- no a.c. so just keep that in mind if you're traveling in the middle of summer. Great staff, who was very helpful and attentive. There is a restaurant on site, which is convenient. Very close to the airport, several other bars, and groceries. Not super close to city center but there's a bus stop steps from the hotel and even walking isn't too bad -- about 35-40 minutes.

The attitude of the staff undoubtedly contributes to the overall satisfaction of guests. Their warmth and hospitality create a pleasant atmosphere, making guests feel valued and comfortable throughout their stay. Such positive interactions with the staff can significantly enhance the overall impression of a hotel, turning it into a memorable and enjoyable experience for visitors.

My family and I really enjoyed our recent stay at this great hotel. It was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Although it is not air conditioned, the fans in the room made things comfortable. There is a great restaurant downstairs.

First time in Dublin and this hotel come recommended. It didn't dissapoint. The hotel was beautiful, service was superb and the location was ideal. There is even a Lidl literally next door open until 10pm so last minute things are a minute away. The room was stunning and housekeeping are very friendly and do a lovely job. 10/10 would recommend.

I stayed at this hotel approximately 3 weeks ago, I was more than impressed, rooms spacious, spotlessly clean, no noise at all. I had dinner in the hotel, it was outstanding, one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Staff couldn't do enough to help. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Comfortable and clean. The service is rather good. Parking is limited and €10 a night. But it is secured. The room is very warm with no way to cool the room but with an open window and a fan but it’s still rather warm to the point I wake up several time sweating. Food it good but on the little expensive side. Overall I would put this on the bottom of coming back to.

Absolutely lovely hotel and staff. We had afternoon tea which was delicious and plentiful. Airport close to hotel and plenty of buses to the town centre. We stayed in an executive room which was excellent. The restaurant is highly recommended . Will definitely be back next year. Thank you to everyone that made our visit special.

Absolutely great hotel! Very accommodating, polite, and helpful, especially if you have never traveled to Dublin. My fiancé, and I stayed for a whole week. The staff was incredible, and the bar&grill was amazing as well! I highly recommend the lamb shanks if you’re a carnivore! They cook it any way you like, as I like mine medium rare. We will definitely be back next year.

Excellent hotel! Top class experience. Staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Food was really nice and breakfast was served to your table, much nicer than fighting for position at a bain-marie! A special mention to Mareu for having the room at 5* cleanliness, and Mary who served our drinks in the bar.

Beautiful hotel, the panelling and tiling are fabulous and worthy of a mention, and the Christmas decorations were just so lovely. Six of us met here for lunch, covid certs required for entry so don't forget yours like I forgot mine due to changing the handbag that I brought 🙈 I admit to overindulging today because the menu was so nice, I had seafood chowder for starters and it came piled high with fish, very hot, very tasty, I love seafood chowder and could not resist. Salmon for mains, sticky toffee pudding for dessert, tea to finish, it was all lovely. The staff were very friendly and polite. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with toilet roll and paper towels, if I had to nit pick I would recommend a full length mirror be hung in the bathroom coz we like to check out our own backside, make sure we haven't sat in anything etc. We all paid individually by card and this wasn't a problem. Had a lovely time overall.

We had a family meal today 2 tables of 6 ! The service and food was amazing. Great selection on the menu and exceptional food quality, a big thank you to the chefs and catering. Everyone enjoyed their meals, we had a selection of starters mains and desserts. The only reason why 1 star knocked off was the attitude of the staff on reception in relation to the validation of a parking ticket. Any Dublin Hotel we have attended validate the parking ticket, "but not at the Skylon". After spending a considerable amount of money we felt this should have been done. Also the staff member was quite abrupt and rude about it.

I haven’t been lodged but my 20 yo daughter got a problem when a taxi driver left her in the surroundings with just a 1% battery. The manager relieved her after the one at Domino’s Pizza refused to help. I can’t express in words how grateful I feel about that. Thank you all, Skylon.

I stayed at the Skylon hotel last night with my daughter. We were late checking in and the staff were so accommodating. Kieran in the bistro was so helpful and ensured that we had something to eat. Also, Tara at breakfast this morning went above and beyond for us. Super service, lovely rooms, we will be back.

The perfect place to stay in Dublin. The room was clean, well equipped, the stuff is very friendly and it has a really great bedroom service. The lobby bar was also great. There is a LIDL next to the hotel and many restaurants nearby. Also only 2 km to the city centre and the bus stops are right next to the hotel.

Starters were a little expensive but overall food was fantastic. I had the sea bass. Normally a fish mains can have a very small amount of fish but this was a perfect size portion and I didn't feel hungry at the end of the meal. Also food was scalding hot and they were imaginative with the veg and not just the normal boring boiled veg that a hotel usually serve

Disliked · restaurant and food was good but there was a member off staff that made us feel very uncomfortable, I came to the hotel with my boyfriend and another couple who also had they’re own room booked, we all had dinner together and when the bar closed at 11 , the 4 of us made our way up to one of the rooms and the minute we got into the room there was loud knocking on our door which was a member of your staff telling us we are not allowed in there room, there was only 4 of us and we all came together , I’d understand if it was a big group who didn’t have rooms booked but this wasn’t the situation , he knocked multiple times and was very condescending, treating us like we were children getting in trouble , it was New Year’s Eve and I’m sure there was many people staying up late for the countdown and I feel it was because we are young adults that he targeted us. He asked me my room number and my name also. After paying over €200 for one night we expected some sort of respect from your staff! Later in the night he made me and my boyfriend leave they’re room, when he knocked on the door to kick us out I was in the bathroom going toilet , I could hear him angrily repeating “they need to get out right now” and “I don’t have all night”, I didn’t even have time to dry my hands as he rushed us out and followed us right down to our room, which felt very intimating and patronizing. I’ve also read many reviews describing a bald man that works there being very rude which seems like it might’ve been the same member of staff that we were having trouble with, we didn’t argue with him at all and he just had such a nasty attitude. This definitely put a downer on the whole night which was meant to be a nice chilled out night with my friends having a few drinks, we weren’t being loud either and we could hear lots of noise coming from other rooms as people , I’m sure we’re just celebrating the new year !

I was in the Skylon for a meal following a funeral. Excellent choice of very nice meals. Generous glass of wine. Staff were friendly and attentive. I was particularly impressed by them going out of their way to ensure a young man at the event who has autism received his favourite meal of mashed potatoes and gravy. Afterwards in the bar the staff ensured an excellent experience for the family and friends. Overall great food and excellent staff. I was impressed.

Just after spending a very enjoyable weekend at the Dublin Skylon Hotel. The room was clean, spacious and adequately furnished, whilst the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The hotel is perfectly placed for easy access to the city and has the added bonus of off-street parking. Hope to return soon and many thanks for a wonderful stay.

Booked in to stay the night before an early am flight! After a long drive checked in and went down to have quick bite in bar! Restaurant shut down 15 minutes before scheduled time! Would not get us something to eat! Just spent 1/2 walking to find a place to eat but ended up with a takeaway! Would be a nice gesture to take care of food options for guests! Room nice though and convenient.

Had afternoon tea here, as part of a baby shower. Atmosphere and surroundings were lovely. We were given our own private dining area and the staff were lovely. Unfortunately the afternoon was very basic. Only 2 choice sandwiches, egg mayonnaise and chicken. (I had requested now fish, but was not offered an alternative). Therefore not enough savory in comparison to sweet options. The scones were delicious.

Stayed here with my partner and we both loved it! Staff were lovely, they let us check in a little early when we arrived at noon from the airport. The room was spacious, clean and great especially for the price of our stay! It’s easy to access the city centre by bus (with a spar right opposite the hotel where you’re able to buy travel cards). Would definitely recommend!

A Home Away from Home at Skylon Hotel I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Skylon Hotel, a place very close to my heart. Having been an employee here from 2014 to 2021, I've experienced firsthand the warmth and professionalism of the team, including some Mceniff family members. They always made me feel at home, even when I was on the job. For my graduation ceremony in Dublin, I brought my mother and a friend from Brazil and chose Skylon Hotel for their stay. It was the best decision I could have made. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff impressed us with their attentive, polite, and helpful service. Our room was impeccably clean and well-organized, complete with a lovely minibar. The breakfasts and our dining experiences at the hotel's restaurant were exceptional. I'd like to mention a few staff members - Gillian, Hazel, Frances, Paul, Cloe, Alan, and Jannie - whose service was exemplary. However, this praise extends to the entire team, from housekeepers to chefs. Now I understand why so many guests are loyal and keep returning. A special thanks to Tara and her husband, General Manager Shane, for their kindness and making us feel so welcome. Skylon Hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a place that feels like home. Thank you all for an unforgettable experience. Jeff, Maribel and Fabiano December 2023
