I stayed in the all female dorm room. 10 people/room. The space was very cramped. It was difficult to use the cage lockers they provided for each bunk to store your belongings. Bring a LOCK 🔐. Luggage that didn't fit in cages took up the little space there was to walk. The room would have felt less cramped with one less bunk bed. The window should be allowed to always be open for air, but people would close it. The bathroom was cleaned daily. The shower had hot water. Thank you. You can rent a towel for 1€. The common room was spacious. Nice couches, lots of tables and chairs. I wish there was a place to stretch, I couldn't have space in the room or downstairs. The kitchen is located in the same space on the main floor. Nice that they have a tap for drinking water. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, I am grateful for accommodation that's not so ridiculously priced. However, it's a hostel, and people can be rude with noise, alarms going off, and lights.

Probably one of the worst nights of sleep I've ever had. I had to catch an early morning ferry, but wanted a few hours of shut-eye beforehand so I booked a cheap bunk here. On the bright side, it wasn't expensive and it was close to the bus I had to catch to the docks. There were clean linens and I'm fairly certain I got a towel too (this was a month ago). Luggage lockers were fine although a bit noisy when you don't want to wake your roommates. On the downside, there was music BLASTING until at least 3 or 4am and people shouting and (from the sound of it) playing foosball enthusiastically until the same hours. How anyone slept through that, I don't know. For context, this was a Monday evening. Check in was easy enough although I remember finding the greeting rather cold. I wouldn't stay here again unless I didn't have the €20 to spare for a better, quieter place.

You could not pay me money to step foot into this hostel ever again. This experience was so bad that we left, no refund, and got a hotel down the road. When we got into our 8 person shared room, there were 3 open beds. We had reserved the room for 4 people. We went down to tell the guy at the front desk, Eugene, and he honestly made the situation so much worse. Eugene’s condescending attitude, lack of surprise or even slight care that the beds were clearly used and unclean is the reason I decided to leave a review. He told us that is normal for a hostel and “we must have never stayed in a hostel ever before” because this is just how things are and the service we paid for. Being 4 young girls, I got the sense we were being taken advantage of because we HAVE stayed at multiple hostels before and all of those beds were unused. I don’t think that is too much to ask for? He then proceeded to follow us up to our room to see for himself, hand us sheets and tell us to make the beds. When we decided to leave he said “if it were me, I would just take what I’ve been given, put the clean sheets on, and sleep in it.” We didn’t make a fuss, we just decided to leave knowing we wouldn’t get our money back but Eugene would not stop trying to argue with us.

Absolutely appalling - would pay money NOT to stay here again. Stayed in a 6 bed female dorm. The room was stuffy and the bathroom was cramped (no room to put toiletries). Kitchen was worse - on my last night, my food was stolen from the fridge. When I reported this to staff, I was told staff dispose of food that are not labelled with both name AND check out date. I was never informed of this policy - and I noticed several incorrectly labelled food items that were still in the fridge. Something isn't adding up. Location is the only good thing about this place. Do yourself a favour and find another hostel nearby - I wish I had.

Beds and virtually everything else was dirty, staff yelled at us when we mistakenly brought down the comforters to be washed when we were leaving, which clarified my initial suspicion that they don’t wash those. Nice. Bathrooms were dirty even after being cleaned and honestly just a bad experience all around, especially for the price. Stay away from this place, you’ll be a much happier person.

Best hostel by location in Dublin. I was with 6 beds room with a private bathroom. Nice place. The common room still opens until midnight. The reception is 24/7 so they help you if you need anything. The location is amazing, so close everything. Abigails Hostel Dublin, originally a grand 18th-century townhouse, exudes historic Dublin charm. Its rich past adds character to the affordable and friendly accommodation, making it a delightful choice for budget-conscious travelers.

Loved it. One of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed at. Clean, feels well organized and very safe for female solo traveler.

Great water pressure, hot showers, great location. However everything felt super dirty - even when it was cleaned everything in the room still felt dirty. This might sound strange but attracts a weird crowd of people. Thought a backpacking hostel would attract primarily young people but I stayed only with 35-50yr olds. This hostel did its job but I can’t wait to leave and I will not book with Abigail’s again.

Nice place with good location, fair prices. Don't forget your padlock to lock your cage under the bed. I had an experience in one of the 6 bed female dorm, which the shower was really bad! But also stayed in rooms with good bathrooms.

Cleaned daily which is great when you share a room and bathroom with 5 others. Whole place feels clean and well organised. Individual light and multiple power points at the bed head although not all of them worked. Would be nice to have a privacy curtain as I've had at other hostels but otherwise a great place to stay. Also, there's a kitchen in the communal area which I didn't see advertised. Good to make the most of a fridge and stove

To be honest I didn't believe this hostel could result in one of the best in Dublin by far. I've been in most of them. Positive: coffee and tea all day, location, check in very early, bathroom in suite, and the best: lift! And the dinner area is in the entrance. Compared to many where you have to struggle with your suitcases! Also, the beds have stuff to plugg and light in every bed. And last but not least: the shower is amazing! It doesn't stop every few seconds as other hostels. The water is hot and you can choose the best temperature. Negative: I don't see many negative aspect really!! Go and see

Location was amazing, staff was friendly, free breakfast was good. However, you do get what you pay for at this hostel in that it didn’t feel the cleanest or the most updated of places. My friend and I stayed in a 10 person all female room and the bathroom situation definitely wasn’t the best (but that’s just because of the number of people I’d say). Beds were comfortable, each bunk had a shelf and outlets which was awesome. Lockers were underneath beds to lock up your stuff (with your own lock). No complaints, really!

Overall it’s an average place with great location . Best part about this hostel is its location . Right in middle of city centre and you can walk to major touristy places or have a public transport connectivity to the place. Average room with no amenities (like towels and shower gel everything is paid ), you don’t get anything for free . I have rated service as 1 as there was nothing about service or friendliness . People at desk are very much like robot so I wouldn’t say very friendly nor very rude | Good common space for watching sports or playing fuss ball and board games .

For us was this hostel total lifesaver because we've had really bad experience with our booked Airbnb and had no place to stay, the staff was very nice and friendly. The location was also really great, there was no need to use public transport, because the hostel is right in the centre of Dublin. Rooms were nice and very very clean. There's also possibility to use "public" kitchen, so the whole visit was also really budget!

The location was great. I took a few out of town bus tours via trip advisor (cliffs and causeway) the bus meet ups were in walking distance. I felt safe but I heard there were pick pocketing going on in the city so be careful especially if you go out drinking. During my first night, I had a group of girls in my room who were loud, left trash everywhere, and kept the light on all night. I wish there were rules during certain hours so others can get a good night rest especially since I had to wake up early for my tours. The bathroom was dirty and outdated. Make sure you bring a lock to lock your belongings up. I didn’t bring one and went on a hunt throughout the city before finding this little store across the river that sold locks. Overall, it was ok but this would be my last option next time I’m visiting. The best thing about this place is I did meet a few nice ladies during my last 2 nights at the hotel, we even ate dinner together.

Staff were a bit impolite. Beds were too hard. Very noisy during night. Good for the price though.

The place is impeccable, you are practically inside a temple bar. Nearby market, public transport and people begging for money on the streets. Negative point is that the rooms are small and without any hangers. Installing hangers for towels, coats, utensils in the bathroom would make all the difference in comfort. Attentive and willing to collaborate.

The location is great in this hostel but everything else was poor- the room I was in, the staff etc. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful.

Busy hostel in a great location. The common area is nice and has lots of tables. I found the room with bathroom amazing after being in hostels all around Scotland where you have shower rooms. I didn’t find the bathroom very clean. The bunk comes unmade, so you need to make your bed upon arrival and your responsible to remove linens at departure. I think this is over kill based on the price of this hostel. The bunk has its own light and plugs which is fantastic!

Good value for money hostel! Very conveniently located in the heart of old town. Many tourists attractions are accessible in walking distance including pick up points for organized guided tours within Dublin and outside. Many restaurants and caffeine around as well as supermarket. Has a good kitchenwith big fridges, kettles and utensils. Lobby is spacious and has many power sockets. Reception team is very helpful and welcome. Helped to resolve my queries and issues. Side note: Please make sure to bring UK plug/udapter to charge your devices 😄 of you don't have one, you can buy one in nearby shop.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Abigail’s Hostel in Dublin! The location of this hostel can’t be beat- just off of O’Connell street along the River Liffey. Many pubs, restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, and public transport are in the immediate area. Additionally, the hostel felt extremely safe, with two secure doors to go through prior to making it to the dorm hallways, as well several staff members in the lobby area at all times. Our six-bed ensuite room was extremely comfortable with all six people present. Our room was clean, and we were happy to see that it was clear all linens are changed between guests. The lockers were larger than expected, and each bed had a shelf, light, and outlet. If you need additional storage there are rentable lockers, as well as a free luggage storage room in the lobby area. Beyond the room itself, the communal lounge area was bright and clean, and had a good mix of tables and couches. During our stay there was quite a mix of guests, ranging in age from teenagers to retirement age. The crowd at Abigail’s was friendly, and the staff did a great job of placing roommates in a similar age range as the others in the room. The few drawbacks that we had- there are several bus stops immediately outside of the hostel, which often led to crowds of people blocking the doorway. If your room is on the back side of the building the night time crowd in the alleyway is very loud; bring your earplugs. A small stool in the bathroom would have been wonderful! There was room to add one in our ensuite bathroom, and without it you were often left leaving your clothing on the toilet or floor when showering.

One of the best hostels I have stayed in - great location, very secure, fully equipped though small kitchen, cages under beds for belongings that can be locked, outlets near beds, and an elevator. Only issue is they were hosting a group of school kids (60 thirteen year olds) that completely took over the lounge/eating area. Should not host such large groups with no conference room as it definitely made it impossible to cook/hang out in the lounge without encountering a stampede of tweens.

Awesome Bar with good drinks, good food and we even had some live music :) One of the better pubs in the center in my opinion

For the price, I was expecting a little bit more. 1 toilet / shower for 8 people. Bad management of the bed sheets (you have to set up your own bed, and return the bed sheets yourself). Besides that, the staff was ok, the mattress was confortable and the check in/out protocols were easy.

Friendly staff, clean rooms ! The common areas are a bit too tiny, especially when it's breakfast time. Wonderful location. A very good deal, we'll come back.

Do not stay here. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights but after getting into the room decided to see if we could leave after the first night (because we had gotten in from our flight around midnight we were too tired to leave that night). The room was hot (no AC or fans, roommates wouldn’t open the window), super loud from the street, and dirty with water all over the bathroom and leaking out of the shower. The front desk guy that night was super understanding and nice and said we could check out the next morning and get the next 3 nights refunded, so we booked another stay nearby and planned to leave in the morning. However, when the next morning we went down to check out the girl with curly brown hair went back on what we were told by the night staff and said we actually couldn’t get our next 3 nights refunded. I told her about our conversation with the guy before and that we had already booked another stay because we thought we could get a refund and she rudely said “well I never said you could get a refund” and said I could talk to the manager if I want. I said okay, then she told me there was no manager working so I had to email. She was the rudest person we’ve met here and I don’t know how she got a job working a front desk. We are still working to resolve the issue. Also woke up with bug bites on my leg so looks like there might have been bed bugs too Location is the only good thing about this place

The location is excellent. It is a little pricey, and the building is old :/ The rooms are small and a bit dirty (as well as the bathroom).

Not very good. Pros: Cheap hostel with a good location in the city. Easy check in process and decent wifi. Cons: This entire place was like an oven, especially our room. The heat wasn't even on, the outside temp was never higher than 21 celcius, and yet the room was always at least 27 celcius. The common area was also very hot.

We booked 3 single beds and got one whole 3-bed dorm to ourselves! This place is in the center of it all, and is a must-stay on your next visit to Dublin!

Excellent clean, going rate sadly for Dublin, excellent staff from Brazil, nice roommates. The best shower I have had in 3 years. Seriously worth it. Picked up some free shampoo, shower gel and hair wax. Very happy indeed

Hostel in the middle of the city very well located. The staff was incredibly helpful even spending 1 hour to help me find a testcenter so that I could get all needed docs for my next destination. Emails are answered very fast. I will book again next time I'm in Dublin.

Just because they are considerate enough to have a kitchen and utensils for their guests to prepare meals and save a few bucks when needed deserves a 4 star. Abigail hostel is close to city center and has a welcomig feel that relaxes you as step in and stays with you till you leave. And did I mention they have free coffee/Tea🥲

Dirty bedsheets and blanket and dirty small bathroom. We had to change the room within our stay and can only have the new room in the afternoon. So we to pay the room without having it during the day. Very unfriendly staff as well. They just told us to leave if we don't like the situation. On top we even had to pay extra for a normal towel.

Very bad attitude from receptionist wouldn't accept cash payment wanted a credit card payment instead - does she not realise not everyone has a credit card! I prefer cash as I can budget my income better with a card I'd probably overspend and end up in debt! As if I need that.

Excellent location. I stayed here for two night on my own in a mixed room with a Brazilian Woman, a Turkish man and a group of young Irish bucks. Firstly, You get what you pay for. The rooms and beds are clean but the place is far from opulent, infact the walls of the rooms remind me of a child's bedroom. Our room had robots on the wall but people from another room informed they had graffiti decals haha. Perfect place to rest your head on your travels though so no complaints on that regard. I stayed in an 8 person bedroom, 4 bunk beds and the room had one an-suite and a shower. The shower wasn't in the an-suite but rather had its own closet sized room which was odd for the layout but useful when one person needs to shower while another needs to poo. The common area is like a canteen, with chairs and tables and a few vending machines. The place also provides a breakfast but I cant comment on that since I went elsewhere to eat. A large school trip of Spanish students were also staying there during my stay and they were quite loud and rowdy in the common area and the hallways, even late at night but thankfully once our bedroom door was closed most outdoor noise was completely muffled so all I had to deal with was the incessant snoring of my Turkish acquaintance in the bed across from me but that's to be had in any hostel. Speaking of my Turkish counterpart, he was quite the troublesome fellow. I got on well with the Brazilian woman in the room like a house on fire and we even added each other on social media but my fellow Irishmen were young country boys visiting the big city for the first time only interested in going on the lash so they butted heads with Mr Turkish man, who in turn was no angel himself as he smoked weed in the bathroom and was caught going through bags that didn't belong to him. I don't mention all of this to complain about it but rather to commend the staff on how they dealt with it. Someone else in the room must have complained because the staff gave me the option to move to a different room if I wished. So in conclusion, its a fairly typical hostel. The rooms are adequate, a fairly standard breakfast is provided, the staff keep to themselves but step in when needed and most importantly its clean.

Stayed there in a three-guest room and appreciated how clean it was and we liked the key-pad safes available for each person in the room. We ended up only using one bed because our room had a bunk and a queen-size bed in it. As one reviewer also noticed, the water was either really hot or really cold, and it would randomly switch during a shower, so beware! Breakfast was good and the location was amazing. Glad to have a refrigerator to store food. Sorry to not have parking as local parking was about €35/day. Staff was very helpful

I had a great time there. The staff made sure to talk with me daily. The water pressure is amazing. Everything is clean. I've stayed at a few hostels and I would certainly go back to this one!

Decided to sit downstairs in the common room because I had a early trip in the morning and did not want to fall asleep and risk not waking up. I was fine for a while then the receptionist comes up to me and says “you don’t have a room here” I responded “yes, I do” and pulled out my key card to prove I have a room. He then said “no it’s okay.” So, instead of asking me what I was doing, you accused me of not having a room here, even though he let a very drunk man sit in the common area downstairs and retch all night. Even gave him a bucket. But me sitting quietly and minding my business was an issue.

Dirty, unsafe, unfriendly. Avoid at any cost. The bathroom wasn't cleaned for the first two days, with a clogged sink. Someone who didn't have a reservation had a key to my room and entered in the middle of the night. The common areas are super small, and the kitchen seemed so dirty I didn't even use it by fear of being sick. They propose to book tours directly at the desk that are way more expensive than what you can easily find online (70€ to go the giant's causeway, whereas I went for 50€). Apart from the location, there's nothing good about it. This is my worst experience in a hostel, to the point I was anxious to go back for the remaining nights I booked there.

I've stayed here a couple of times, so I've had the chance to try their mixed and female only six-bed dorms. I have also stayed once in their 3-bed room (photos included) which has been the best experience in a hostel until now. All dorms that I've stayed in are ventilated and have ensuite washroom. Two additional toilets downstairs for common usage. Overall, the hostel is always clean. Never had the hygiene trouble even during the Covid times. I think they were one of the very few hostels that followed safety guidelines to the T. Their common room is quite big with loads of space for you to wait around or work. The kitchen is well-equipped with some basic stuff available for free such as coffee, oats, spices, etc. so you can easily cook if you want. They have a luggage room where you can leave your stuff if you are checking in early or have a late checkout. Locker space also available which comes very handy if you have valuables around that you'd like to keep safe. The staff is always available and so very helpful throughout your stay. The cleaning ladies are so warm and kind. The front desk guys and gals whatever time you are in are happy to help you with everything you may need. And last but not the least, the location is FANTASTIC. Honestly, I don't even look for other places to stay in Dublin anymore. It's just so convenient and comfortable here.

The Hostel is one of the most lively and friendly ones I've ever been to. The receptionists are not only willing to help with anything they can but have a great sense of humor. I'd definitely stay again when traveling on a budget.

It not easily identifiable from the street, but this is the best location for a youth hostel! The beds are nice and clean with USB ports and a reading light for each one. They provide bedding, but not towels or any toiletries. The rooms are pretty quiet. They’re nice and so was the staff. You can take the Dublin Express bus to Eden Quay in order to get here.

Great hostel ! You can rent locker and it's 24 hrs. Only bad point is we woke up in a soaked bed ? No idea what happened but the upper part of the bed was all wet when we woke up in the early morning. Took a shower and moved on so nothing to complain about here, plus there were 2 other beds in the room haha

Helpful staff. Slept well here. Kitchen is really small for such a large hostel but it didn’t seem to be a problem when I wanted space to cook, maybe bc we tended to cook our dinner late. Comfy beds. Surprisingly quiet. Rooms a bit cramped to move around. Nice large dining and lounge area. Super convenient location. Would stay here again.

This hostel is extremely overpriced. The only good thing about it was the location right in Temple Bar. The building itself is super old and had a very weird design. I did not feel comfortable here so I checked out and stayed in a hotel instead. When I called to request a refund, I was told I would’ve had to call at 10:30am to get a refund. I was never told that this was their policy which is so unfair. If you’re a female traveler I would not recommend this hostel. Spend your money at a hotel or somewhere that feels safer.
