You may have the Marzocco machine, have a couple single origin coffeee and mocca mokas for sale, or have the oh-so-cool dark interior. But what also makes a good speciality cafe is consistency. Shoe Lane failed in this respect. I obtained this coffee (photo) as my latte - too hot, wrong viscosity and latte art. Was the barista having an off moment yesterday lunchtime? Maybe. But this shouldn't happen. It wasn't even busy. When a customer pays €4, they expect a great cup of coffee everytime.

Good coffee shop that opens SUPER early and closes late, even on weekends. WiFi is available and there’s extra seating upstairs if you want to get some work done (there’s also a co-working space in the Tara Building next door if you need something more permanent). Coffee and pastries very tasty and the interior is nice. They also sell beans, coffee making tools and accessories. Only minor drawbacks are that the music can be a bit loud, there’s limited space upstairs during busy times, and the gingerbread (?) hot cocoa was way too sweet - but that’s a personal preference :)

Good quality of coffee and have lots choices of pastries! Staffs are always friendly and helpful , definitely my favorite place in Dublin to work on my laptop or just chilled, the space provide a cozy atmosphere upstairs.

❤️ ☕ Freshly roasted coffee ☕ ❤️ We stoped by chance after a morning run and found the best coffee we had in Dublin so far. The milk was "burned" in the frothing process but still a good latte. The service was great! Very friendly staff 😍 Upstairs they had a nice cozy room and what I very much appreciated: free tap water to help yourself. Always a good fit with coffee to keep one hydrated! 😉

Handy location, impeccable coffee, lovely people running the place. Can add your number so when you tap with your phone you collect loyalty points, no card needed. One of my personal Top 5 coffees in Dublin.

Love this place, I wish they were open during the holidays 😢 Try a flat white 2 sugars, you won't be disappointed or an iced Mocha with honey. Very tasty.

Coffee was excellent. But I don't know if there is anywhere in Dublin you get a smaller flat white for the standard - already lofty €3.50 plus price. I also wasn't asked if I wanted it in a proper cup. Pity because coffee was top class

Good coffee and passable pastries at this place to perch near the river. Gets a bonus point for being the only comparable place open before 09:00 on a Saturday.

A hidden gem in Dublin city, Shoe Lane is small in size but big in character. The coffee is to die for, and they have a great range for those who like to brew their own at home. The staff are wonderful and would put you in a good mood with their energy and friendliness. If you're lucky enough to be in the vicinity I would thoroughly recommend stopping by.

The good things about this cafe are the tasty coffee and the indoor decor. They staff are always incredibly friendly and service is usually quick as they have 2-3 behind the counter. They also open early which is a saviour if you are coming into the city on an early morning train. However, the place is fairly expensive for the size of the coffee you get. Like many others have said, I was genuinely a bit shocked at how small the cup was when they called out my order. I’d also avoid the pastry as they have repeatedly been stale and hard. Nobody wants to have a chewy chocolate twist you need to try pull apart with your teeth. I’d recommend this place to people who love speciality coffee and who want a special, tasty cup. I wouldn’t recommend it for your daily juice however as they cost and value for money just aren’t there. They also have no loyalty card system.

came in for a takeaway coffee a few weeks back after landing in from cork, felt horrible as i didn’t realise it was literally 3 minutes before they closed until i’d walked up to the till. they let me order though, and the coffee was really lovely, i got an oat flat white as usual. hopefully will get to stop by again at a more reasonable hour, i still feel pretty guilty 🤠 update: came for a second visit today to sit-in and had a lovely chai latte, really well textured milk :) the upstairs seating area is really pleasant when not too busy, i’d check it out if you’ve the time

What a phenominal little coffee shop...wish I had found this place earlier during my stay in Dublin! Good coffee, but not a ton of space inside; there are a few tables outside though that one can sit at enjoy some magical wake up juice.

The pastries and coffee are stunning ! I was disappointed for some of their drink such as coffee with yuzu. I ordered it few months ago, i tasted it. It was not yuzu but an orange. I noticed to the waiter that.morning he confirmed that there is no yuzu at all in the drink. I was really disappointed as it was à fake ingrédient mentionned in their board.

I haven’t tried best coffee here in Dublin yet. The special menu is always changing and bringing amazing creative new recipes! If you want to experience a good brew or espressos, this is place to stop by. Place is also real cozy and charming. The staff always friendly and ready to take your orders and adapt if needed. Really recommend this little café in town, it’s a gem!

Great quality of drinks, decent prices, and friendly staff! When I went in the card machine was down, but they served me anyway and let me sit outside with my drink and pay afterwards when they were working again, which I was very grateful for!

Very small takeaway cups at 2.50 per tea per cup, its not on. You have lost and are losing customers. Very pleasant staff who have heard from many customers the cups are too small. I will re visit in a few weeks to see if the issue is sorted and if not unfortunately I won't return as likewise I've seen many work colleagues of mine not return - but I will give it one more go.

They're open inside again! Just 4 seats downstairs but it's a start. Consistently the best coffee in Dublin and such a cute and cozy space as well. They have cold brew and iced in addition to hot coffee, and I love how up front they are about where their beans and roasts come from.

Great place , felt like a rustic coffee place , I ordered the chilli honey hot chocolate and thought it was great my only problem is with the seating , there is literally no seats in the cafe so it's preferable to order on the go besides that , everything was perfect . I'd recommend this place to others.

Very cute coffee shop with great coffee and old shoe lane memorabilia. Lovely vegan cakes and a upstairs quiet space off the busy streets of Dublin. Enjoyed the Beano glad comic decor in the toilets.

Nice coffee place, you can also sit upstairs which is a seldom thing in Ireland. It is cold though, not comfy unless you are a proper Irishman. I don't personally drink coffee, which defies the whole purpose, but I did have a tea and some cakes. Not bad.

What a fantastic speciality coffee shop in the centre of Dublin. We were in town for a brief visit and wanted a good coffee so decided to try here and we were not disappointed! A couple of excellent flat whites, a delicious cinnamon pastry and a satisfying slice of banana bread. Highly recommend, and we'll be back the next time we're in Dublin!

Good coffee place, you can take your computer, book or any other thing and go there. Quiet, not noisy, staff is kind and not disturbing you to go away if you stay lon. Which is really good for remote workers who like working in cafés. But please don’t abuse it and don’t forget to support business. Don’t take just 1 coffee and sit 8 hours. It has place in upstairs, inside, outside. Upstairs has a good big table to go with youe friends and enjoy the coffee.

I came here at least once a week during my college term. The staff were always super friendly, the treats were delicious (in my opinion they have the best almond croissant in town), great coffee, good music, and good vibes. Would recommend!

This cafe is very cosy and cute, the drinks are a reasonable price and there is more seating upstairs. The staff are really polite and friendly and the atmosphere is lively and calm at the same time. The tables are clean and there’s books and water taps that are offered.Very good vibes here and I’m glad I went. I had an ice tea,it wasn’t very sweet but cheap in my opinion (€3.50). My favourite part is the bathroom! It is so cool as the walls are covered in comics :)

The first time I visited Dublin, this was the first place I stopped. 2 years later, I remembered it and was happy to find it's still there. I had the pear pastry, which was amazing. The coffee was also great. The atmosphere is super cute and cozy. The kind of place you could bring a good book to.

I had a really nice latte at shoe lane! They do not have any coffee syrups but you can add honey. There is also a nice space upstairs where you can get some work done. There is a really nice window up there too. The music was a bit loud for my taste.

Stunning coffee, service and treats!. I noticed they have fully compostable cups which is fantastic, especially as we can’t use our own travel cups at the moment. If you’re into really good coffee, this place is divine - go!

Girl on til today might be having a bad day but appears to have a pretty bad attitude for a customer facing role. Youre not controlling numbers in the cafe either but have no problem charging 1euro for a mask . Good luck.

I had the best gingerbread hot chocolate ever from this place. So different to your average Costa version; seemed to be homemade, so no sweet sugar syrup. The atmosphere was lovely too. Upstairs is very cosy - would recommend a visit!

Consistently good. In addition to the usual coffee shop drinks offerings, they also have a great selection of hot non-caffeine based drinks. Plenty of dairy alternatives too. Great staff. Central location beside Tara Street train station.

Kind service, good location and comfortable interior. The downstairs may seem small, but there's also the upstairs space, which is also a bit more quiet. The tables and chair are modern and wooden, giving the café a nice touch. The music played at the perfect volume suits the ambiance well. And the coffee tastes amazing!

Best coffee in Dublin hands down. So many reasons: 1) The actual coffee is good (always a plus) 2) The staff are lovely, all of them. Super friendly. And they make good coffee (trend here) 3) The coffee shop is so cute, love the decor. Upstairs you can chill, do some work or just sit, sip and look out the window and people watch. Always happy to support small businesses as well. Tip: try the coconut milk flat white 🥰
