The pastries are well made and seem creative and seasonal. The coffee on the other hand was way too small for โ‚ฌ3.5 and not even hot enough to begin with. I tried the Cardi B cardamom bun and the chocolate danish, both were made very well.

Long term customer till recently. On our most recent trip, we were skipped as a friend of the coffee shop arrived. In general, the atmosphere, service and attitude has changed, no longer making it a place we love to visit. Really dislike the passive aggressive responses to reviews also

I came here today based on its inclusion in The Irish Times list that was published recently, "Beyond Lockdown โ€” 100 Great Places To Eat". It featured in the category "EIGHTEEN GREAT PLACES FOR A CASUAL MEAL" โ€” unfortunately, they don't serve meals! They serve coffee and buns. The bun looked nice, but it was doughy i.e. underbaked on the inside and tasted of practically nothing. It was supposed to be orange flavoured. The piece also highlighted that the ingredients are seasonal and foraged locally. I'm not sure where they're foraging oranges in Dublin ๐Ÿ™„, but maybe they should source some Spanish ones that have some flavour. Seasonal and locally foraged cardamom also makes an appearance here! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ The service was officious and rude โ€” they didn't even provide me with a serviette! I had to go to Oscar's to get one. This wasn't a meal and it wasn't a particularly good snack. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING and I also inadvertently broke my 5k limit because I was under the impression that I would be able to collect a meal, not just a pedestrian bun. Coffee was grand, but Jesus, what a sham. I ended up going to Fresh for some grub.

This cafe is always busy every weekend, so get ready to stand in queue๐Ÿ˜„ The pastries and focaccia are fantastic, and the coffee is also good. Pastries are always almost sold out before 1 pm, so try to get there before 1 pm!๐Ÿ‘

The coffee is great but what youโ€™re really here for is the Cardi B. The most succulent cardamom bun on the face of the earth.

I was essentially grunted at by the server when I placed my order and barely looked at. The coffee had no latte art and tasted burnt and the pastry was stale. What a let down.

If youโ€™re a coffee lover, the place is for you. They have a variety of bins and trust me they know how to use them. Their coffee latte is a state of art. Unfortunately they donโ€™t have a place to relax with your cup of coffee - they only have coffee to go. Also, we had to wait 5 minutes in the queue to order and 5 minutes in a queue to receive an order. But waiting worth it, and I still recommend the place.

Proper Order in Smithfield, Dublin make one of the tastiest and most aroma-rich cups of coffee in town. Not a lot of places in Dublin can rival their coffee, in my view. We found the staff to be friendly too. The cups of coffee arenโ€™t cheap but they are premium quality so itโ€™s understandable. Proper Order have a strong recommendation from me!

I have seen alot of good feedbacks here so I decided to check it out myself. Although it was only my first time, iโ€™d give it a go again! :) It is also behind a building under construction and you might find it hard to catch if you are coming from the luas stop. However, there is a big sign on the construction wall on the side, an arrow pointing to the place. Flat white is a little bit expensive for the price. (I seen the ownerโ€™s response below saying I should get a bigger cup next time, I was meant to say the flat white was a little expensive for the price. Apologies, I thought I have re-edited it before posting.)

Cute little coffee shop that serves really good coffee and pastries. We walked in around 10:30 and sadly there was nowhere to sit but in no time at all we had two flat whites and an Americano to go. We also got a cronut type thing that was absolutely delicious. The pastries could rival any bakery and included cinnamon rolls and croissants. They sell coffee from The Coffee Collective & Square Mile for you to take home too. Itโ€™s a little on the expensive side considering the portion sizes for coffee but it was really nice.

The pastries here are great - probably the best in Dublin. Smithfield is a great spot for speciality coffee and breakfast food. Proper Order, Copper + Straw, and Urbanity all within a stone's throw of each other.

A hidden gem in Smithfield. Honestly the best coffee in town. They were not joking by choosing "proper" in the name. The pastries selection is also very good. A little bit pricey but definitely worth it. You order at one window and pick up around the corner.

Love their pastries - thereโ€™s always something different to try! The coffee is good but smaller than average while still the same prices as other spots around the city. Itโ€™s take-away only!

Pumpkin focaccia bread and a kombucha coffee were some of the best food and drink I've had. The baristas recommended them and I think geniuses doesn't begin to give them justice. I shared this with my friends as a must do coffee place if they are ever in Dublin.

Wowww! Most delicious coffee in Dublin. This little coffee shop has a beautiful and TASTY array of pastries and the coffee is delicious. The shop itself is very hip/ cool and the staff were really pleasant and polite. Pricing is fair/good for the area! Only tiny downside is the only alternative milk was Oat ( soya/ coconut is my fav!).

Proper Order + No Messin' = the only thing you need. Their coffee selection is great and their pastries are to die for. Get your a** down there (especially on a Friday) at 11:00 am for the nicest doughnut you will ever have - and pick up a Cardi B while you're at it!

Lovely independent coffee shop with some of the best pastries in Dublin from No Messinโ€™ bakery. Rustic Rhubarb tart is my fave! Delicious, great quality coffee and they stock a good selection of coffee to buy. Well worth it to support a local Coffee shop, Dublin would be a much lesser place without coffee shops like Proper Order.

I am literally going to give this place 2 stars, because while their coffee is excellent, the American custom of displaying an option for people to offer a tip, for a purchase with no actual service involved, is just plain disgusting. Tips are for going beyond the call of duty. You are not doing so by just selling me a product with a small interaction over a counter. Don't put the onus on the client to decide at payment time.

Proper Order has the best service and the best coffee in the city. I mean, there are plenty of other really good coffee shops, but Proper Order is always that little bit better. I've been buying coffee from them - both on the spot and in beans to grind at home - pretty much since they opened, and I'm enormously glad to be able to get their coffee delivered during lockdown. I'll keep coming back.

Walked over to this amazing takeout-only coffee & pasties place for breakfast this morning. I ordered a latte and the gentleman behind the counter recommended this double chocolate cruffin thing when I asked for a pasty suggestion and said I usually get a chocolate croissant. I was very happy with my choice. The coffee was good and the pastry was excellent. Flaky and not too sweet with a couple of bits of chocolate in it. As other reviewers mentioned, there is no seating available here. This place is takeout only and they do NOT accept cash. I was remiss and did not take a photograph of either the current menu or the front door. I shall have to remedy this when I return to Dublin later in the week. I highly recommending finding Proper Order Coffee Co if you are ever in the area!

Food is a bit pricy, but great. While paying, they have that screen where it asks you for a tip. You have to touch 'skip' if you don't want to, which leaves you feeling guilty. Sorry your company isn't paying you enough salary, till person. Maybe they should have the owners touch 'skip' every time they pay salary.

After coming across them on social media, I finally got to try their coffee. Their brand is unpretentiously designed, but consistent. The food choices are simple, but extremely high quality. The service is very friendly and although the guys were busy I sensed a nice atmosphere. I feels that they truly live the story they tell, which is why I had such a good experience.

I visited here for the first time this morning. The almond frankie is absolutely delicious. One of the best pastries I've had in a long time. The coffee (Americano) was made with Ethiopian beans and I can highly recommend it. Best coffee I've had in Dublin.

An absolute gem. Order on the front, collect on the side. The coffee is great, made by professionals (you can observe them while waiting for your order). We at the pastry when in the airplane and boy did we regret not eating it right away as we had ordered more of them!!! (we ate what looks like a cinnamon bun, according to the staff it was the most ordered pastry).

  • 5/5 Claudia M. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent coffee and without a doubt the best pastries that I have ever eaten in my life, and I eat a lot of them. Itโ€™s good that prices are way above the average so itโ€™s my real guilty pleasure because of the calories and mostly because I pay almost 10eu for a coffee and a pastry to go, otherwise I will be fatter.
