I stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a tour group. The location is gorgeous, with a walkable beach nearby. The lobby is clean and beautiful. Check-in was not smooth, as we were assigned the wrong type of room and had to return to the desk to remedy the situation. Instead of being assigned a room with two beds as reserved, we were given two single bed rooms, so my roommate and I were separated. I was assigned room 145, which had mechanical issues: The sheer curtains couldn't be opened, the room darkening drapery was hanging partially off the track, and I got stuck inside the shower stall when the glass sliding door jammed. I had to wiggle the door off the track to get out. We had a group dinner in the restaurant. The food was all very tasty except for the crab cake, which was more breading than crab. The hake was cooked to perfection, and the bread pudding with ice cream a dessert I thoroughly enjoyed. The staff had a difficult time managing the group, from taking beverage orders to delivering the food to the right persons. One of the young servers could not differentiate types of wine, asking if we were ordering red or white when a chardonnay or cabernet was requested. Mother Nature treated us to a gorgeous rainbow over the ocean as we were finishing dinner.

Great hotel. We went during the weekday on the shoulder season, so we were able to get a 3rd floor sea view family room with two American queen beds, huge room bye the way + breakfast for 2 adults and 3 kids for $240 a night. We stayed 2 nights, place right on the beach which was phenomenal. Pay extra for the sea view!!! Bar was awesome, we were there during a crazy nighttime lightning storm which was incredible watching from the bar. Personable staff, clean rooms, amazing location. Definitely will stay there again!!!!

Beautiful one night stay in this very special hotel.Rooms and food to a very high standard. Staff friendly and helpful. Spa and golf course facilities so something for everyone. Also backs onto the stunning Velvet Stand beach. With the weather improving this would be a great draw for families also. Free and plentiful parking. Looking forward to returning soon.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in October, 2023 for our final day in Ireland as we wanted to get out from the hustle and bustle of Dublin. It was the perfect choice and so close to the airport for our next morning flight back home. The resort is amazingly situated along a long stretch of beach and the view from our hotel room was just spectacular. Our room had a comfortable bed with good quality pillows and the bathroom was spotless with a nice shower and plenty of hot water. We had breakfast the next morning and the food was fresh and tasted good, we had eggs, pastries, fruits and soda bread. Best part of the visit was the unexpected bonus we got in the form of a huge terrace directly off our room with amazing views of the beach and the golf course! That was really nice! The only one comment for improvement I can offer is for the dinner service, it took a while for us to get our order taken and we had to remind the staff we are still waiting a few times. Overall, we will definitely be back when we are in Ireland during the summer and take full advantage of the location and surrounding beach and golf course.

Spacious and comfortable with great views. The staff were very efficient and courteous and the food was the icing of the cake. Would recommend for large or small parties and ideally located for a visit to Dublin

Splendid premises. Beautiful and historical decor inside and out. Delicious food and drinks. Friendly staff. And great golf course. Played it twice. Bring plenty of balls!

Beautiful restoration, spa is great. However, a few basics getting overlooked here. Check in issues, bedroom was nice but bed was wet! Like someone spilled water on it then said nothing. When we called the desk to fix, we were told housekeeping were gone for the night and expected paying guests to change the bed ourselves... they eventually changed for us. Basic cable on TV too. Another positive, the food is great 👍 recommend the spa and restaurant but accommodation training needs work.

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff, the service, the restaurant, the golf course, the rooms, the view….I could go on and on. We had a wonderful experience!

Lovely place located right at the oceans shore. The golf course was a nice challenge, I only lost a box of balls in the rough LOL. The food was good and so was the service. Only a 5 min walk to local stores and restaurants.

We stayed at Portmarnock hotel for 4 nights as Parr of a golf group. Unfortunately, freakish rain kept us from golfing but we managed to have a wonderful time for the overall event. The staff was friendly, attentive and catered to our groups needs. It is a beautiful location with views of the sea, although somewhat remote. Will require taxi to Dublin city center or to nearby towns and is not easily walkable.

Gorgeous hotel with easy access to the beach. We ate in the Jameson bar and the staff were lovely and very attentive! Food was delicious although pricey. Would highly recommend to family and friends and we hope to be back again someday soon!

REVIEW IS OF SPA ONLY: I was treated to a de stress massage by my partner today. The massage itself was lovely and very relaxing. I thought a consultation prior to any massage was necessary to ensure no contraindications, however, this didn't happen.Toward the end of the massage the therapist said she was going to book me in with another therapist for my back, it seemed a bit pushy to me and created an awkwardness. After the massage I was told I could go to the relaxation room. The therapist came in with some prosecco and said it was from my partner which I thought was a nice touch. Then a couple of minutes later she came back in and said my partner had been on the phone (he rang to see that they'd remembered to give the prosecco unbeknownst to me) and that the prosecco was complimentary and that he hadn't paid for it and that I wouldn't get a welcome plate. It was an awkward situation again and quite rude. I believe the therapist was irritated that he had rang and decided to take it out on me. It was disappointing and unprofessional. I couldn't wait to leave as it left me feeling quite uncomfortable.

Very very disappointing, service was complete rubbish, right from the start. No one to help with luggage, told to use the lift, (my husband is almost 80!). 3 times we asked for help, the lift at reception wasn’t working, had to struggle between the two of us, the few staff that were there, just walked past us. Eventually a member of staff helped us and then when we got near our room a very nice gentleman who was servicing the rooms took over. Not what you expect and not a good first impression. This lack of service continued for our whole stay. Had dinner at the hotel, very very average, fine if you like soggy fries! Breakfast , well where to begin….. staff who looked like they didn’t want to be there, not, took several requests one morning before we got tea and then when we did it was stone cold, it had literally been made with cold water, when we pointed it out, the young lady, just swiped it away without any apology, although in fairness her colleague did come over afterwards and apologise. Food at breakfast was pretty much dried up, very disappointing and frankly not good enough. This is not a cheap hotel, they really need to get their act together and sort out the basics, starting with staff who actually want to work in hospitality and make the paying guests feel welcome.

My mom and I had a wonderful stay in december. The staff was super nice and the location is beautiful and calm, with a private beach and golf course but also close enough to the city centre to visit Dublin. We'll definitely stay here again.

Venue 10/10 for all the amenities and location. Staff most helpfull and welcoming. Pricing...well you pay for what you get but worth the extra treat if you want to feel fancy☺️

Great value for mid week rate. Beautiful location, on beach. Food and service excellent. Room a little cold and unable to regulate, seemed to be a central control.

Great hotel in a lovely location, we had a disabled member of our party, and the disabled lift from the car park was out of order and seemed to have been for some time, the one at the bottom of the main stairs into the hotel only worked out once, the remaining time it was also out of order. The breakfast was down two flights of stairs with a disabled lift only went down one floor, work that one out... We were told on checkout that they usually let disabled guests come into the breakfast room from the rear doors, would have been nice to know when we checked in... Breakfast has plenty of of choice and is replenished quickly with fresh. On a plus point we had a full moon during our stay an I managed to get some good shots, the beach is lovely and clean, but very windy during our stay so we only got to visit once.

Great location on the coast with wonderful views from the room. The course was beautiful and well maintained. For a top golf course, the golf pro shop left a few things to be desired - no food at the turn or cart going around with food/drinks, for folks using the men's locker rooms there is no combs, cream, etc and also some of the shampoo/body wash containers were empty. They need to pay attention to small things that make a big difference. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and round of golf.

I wasn't aware at the time of making my reservation that the hotel is cashless. This was really inconvenient for me. I had 2 nights accommodation booked and prepaid for 2 of 4 Spa treatments for the following day. The hotel has lots of steps and this is probably due to being designed and built around an old house but all the steps mean that all areas are not fully accessible for someone with mobility difficulties. The staff in all areas of the hotel are superb, friendly and helpful and a real asset to the hotel. We dined in the Jameson bar and the food was very good, we had breakfast on both mornings in the 1790 restaurant and it wasn't great. Bacon which was supposed to be grilled but had a thick white ridge of fat on every slice so it definitely wasn't grilled and appeared unappetising. We had 2 spa treatments each and they were amazing. Emily is excellent and if I return I'll visit the spa for treatments again. We had lunch in the Seaview restaurant after our treatments and the chowder was probably the best we've ever had. Bedroom was clean and comfy with a very good shower. The hotel loses marks for being cashless at reception and the spa but cash is accepted in bar and restaurant. This arrangement makes no sense whatsoever, marks also lost for all the steps.

The perfect place to spend your last night in Ireland. It's only 15 minutes to the airport and you feel like you are on the beach on a beautiful golf course. We loved it!

The hotel itself is beautiful. I just ate in the bar. I had a fish curry for €28. It tasted good but it was mostly liquid. The portion size was minuscule. Such a pitty. I would go back but i just felt ripped off!

The location of this cozy yet fancy hotel is what I loved best. It is right on Malahide Beach, which makes a great break and distraction for holiday goers. My friend and I had some tea and cakes, which were delicious, as a small treat. I love the ambiance of the Jameson Bar 🍸. I highly recommend this hotel for its superb coast location whilst still close enough to city centre to reach using the various transport services provided in the vicinity.

Disappointing, had booked for a family celebration and while the settling was good the heating in the bar area was off. People were sitting around in their jackets!! This type of hotel and especially this type of bar area should be warm and welcoming. on a cold day like this there should be open real fires to make the atmosphere fit the type of hotel it aspires to be.

Wonderful spa visit as usual. Claire does a fantastic job and you always leave feeling very relaxed. Lunch in Seaview lounge before treatments was also fab. If you want to treat yourself I totally recommend the ultimate face and body spa package.

Went for Spa session. Excellent therapists. Strange layout within the hotel but when you work out where things are . . Its a lovely atmosphere.

The hotel is in a great location right on the beach. A fast taxi to the upmarket area of Malahide. The bar has recently been redone but in the same style which was fine. Golf club if you want that but reasonable price per room.

I am in love with the seaweed bath! It is amazing experience, so relaxing and good for my skin. I will be back! The whole spa was really beautiful, the staff was very nice and extremely helpful. Thank you!

Just home from my brothers wedding in Portmarnock. All I can say is the hotel is fabulous. The food was unbelievable and service was top class. I have to mention Conor who looked after us for the meal tasting and also on the big day and was constantly looking after the bride and groom. He is fantastic at his job and really makes you feel welcome there. Thanks for a wonderful stay and a day to remember.

Went to the hotel for a drink with my wife. The location is fantastic but service is not up to par. When we arrived we wanted to see if we could sit anywhere or wait to be seated at a table. Some establishments have different rules because of Covid. After waiting for approx 10mins with numerous waiters walking past us and doing their best to ignore, we eventually managed to stop someone. They replied that they needed to chat with the manager as we didn't have a booking. Waited another while until eventually the manager came over and said it was fine just to take any table up in the reception area. He took our drinks order. Then the interminable wait continued as we hoped that our drinks would arrive any time now. Eventually the waiter came over with the drinks and said they were very short staffed and he was run off his feet. I sympathized, we finished up our drinks and left. I didn't have the stamina to order a second round.

Staff at reception very welcoming and helpful. We had dinner booked and were very disappointed with it. We were served by Gerrard who was far from.friendly and made no effort to talk to us. The food was cold and dessert was also disappointing. We were not asked if food was ok and I would normally make a complaint but just couldn't wait to get out of the dining area so left.Breakfast was very nice and again staff were friendly . nice and again staff were friendly

Fantastic weekend stay in the Portmarnock Hotel. The staff were absolutely amazing and were so helpful when it came to checking in early, booking meals or taking food back to our room. The beach is right outside with fantastic views. Would absolutely recommend the generous sized family rooms.

My mom and I had a BEAUTIFUL stay at Portmarnock Hotel! We were greeted by a lovely entrance with harmonious decor and fresh flowers in the main foyer. Imelda at the reception was amazing! She helped us with our accommodations and welcomed us so so graciously! Thank you Imelda! There was another friendly fellow who helped with our reservation as well! Thank you! Our room was large, spacious, clean, comfortable and peaceful. We had ocean views, a nook to drink tea and relax. Breakfast was wonderful. Great selection of scrambled eggs, fried/poached eggs, puddings, potato, sausage, bacon ham with fruits and Irish Soda Bread. We had an exceptional time and stay! The ocean was just a step away! Beautiful calm sea! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!! Great fun and rest!

Over staffed, receptionists both need to go to charm school. Made a meal out of printing off a voucher from my phone so as a result I am telling my friends not to give me vouchers for your hotel. Food in bar was lovely, good portions and nice ambience.

We had an amazing time while staying at the Portmarnock Hotel. The breakfast, The Seaview for lunch, and the Jameson all have delicious food and have options (however minimal) for Gluten Free and Vegan. The room was comfortable and clean. The spa staff were wonderful, I loved my manicure and massage. Not too far from the city but still small town charm. I hope we get to visit again one day!

If you are a golfer this would be a great hotel for you as a links course is attached which is beautiful. There is beach access within a short walk. The restaurant dinner was good. The bar was busy & service a bit slow. Breakfast was ok and slow if ordered from menu. The staff that was working was doing a great job with what appeared to be staff shortages. We arrived with a bus tour so could not park near entrance. 24 of us. There was no porter for bags and the bag lift at the steps was out of order. Once you dragged your bags inside there were more stairs & an operating small glass lift. Well thanks to men in our group that helped drag the bags up more stairs. The front desk did not check us in. Gave keys & a list to our driver & left it up to him. The location is not within walking distance to the city or any nearby stores, restaurants anything really. I believe this was at one time a wonderful place to stay but definitely caters to the golfers. I believe staff shortages attributed to the sub par service. The rooms were clean.

Had a very pleasant stay over two nights. Really enjoyed our experience here. Very nice and helpful Staff. Fantastic room. Pity you could not have views of the Sea from the Hotel facilities and not just from the rooms. Will be back.

Pleasant staff, clean facilities, comfortable room. Great place for couples and families with young children. As a suggestion, I hope management would consider an outdoor shower facility near the hotel's beach access so we don't bring all that sand into the hotel.

We had our wedding at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links in early October. It was an amazing experience. The venue was elegant and set indoor, with a beach directly outside. The ceremony was held at the hotel as well as the dinner and reception, which lasted well into the night. On Day Two, an excellent barbecue was prepared for the guests that were still there. The entire staff, including Holly, at the front desk, David, at the bar, and Connor, the wedding coordinator, were outstanding. Connor, in particular made sure we were well looked after the entire time, and was extremely helpful in coordinating the entire process. On top of that, the weather happened to be outstanding that day. I’d highly recommend Portmarnock Hotel for a hotel stay and as an ideal wedding venue.

We had our wedding in Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links. We had the most wonderful wedding day there and enjoyed an outdoor ceremony overlooking the beach and an outdoor drinks reception in the 'secret garden'. We are grateful to all of the staff in the hotel who contributed to making our wedding day so special. In particular, we have to single out one individual who we cannot speak highly enough of. He is the staff member who looks after the catering and beverages, and his name is Conor Duggan - a super asset and member of the team in the hotel. He is a total professional, superb at his job, and is also really friendly. He could not do enough for both us and our wedding guests when he was responsible for overseeing the dinner and the evening reception. We had so many guests who complimented Conor and gave us positive feedback about him. He went above and beyond and we are so grateful that he was working at our wedding to give the wonderful service and welcome to both us and our guests. Thank you Conor - we really appreciate everything you did to make our wedding day so special.

The hotel itself is lovely. But the service in the bar is absolutely terrible. Sitting down for 10 minutes with no one coming over to us. Had to go ask for menu’s. Then had to go ask again for someone to take our order. The person behind the bar is rude.. but not just to customers.. also to the servers so.. at least he’s consistent. Ordered drinks and food. Food arrived, and had to go ask for the drinks again. Nothing crazy. Just a pint and a G&T. Asked for mayo with the food. Never arrived. The bar seems to have nothing but disinterested teenagers working in it. It wasn’t busy, and there were plenty of seats. Used to be so much better. Won’t be coming back anytime soon. *edit* people at the next table walked out while still waiting 20 minutes for their drinks.

Just played the golf. Course and facilities are top class. Front nine pretty flat with few tough holes into the wind. Back nine is a great challenge with lots of variety, short tricky par 3 's, lots of dogleg par 4's and all in immaculate condition. A real treat.

We had our wedding in Portmarnock in November and stayed two nights. The service from the whole wedding team was fantastic, in particular Sophie our Event Coordinator who worked closely with us leading up to the big day. She was so nice to deal with and very responsive. The staff on the day itself were also fantastic. Everyone was really impressed with the food, how the room looked, the Christmas decorations etc. Would have no hesitation recommending to anyone for a wedding. The rooms (we stayed in two) were also fabulous with incredible views, spotlessly clean and all of our guests found the breakfast delicious.

Lovely location but this hotel is cold. The central areas do not seem to have heating. The bedrooms are comfortable and warm. Dinner is in the bar, limited choice on the menu and the same every night. The bar area is very cold lots of fire places with no fires burning. Probably a more comfortable hotel to stay in in the summer but the views are great and it faces directly on to the beach.

We had lunch here yesterday. The hotel itself is very nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. My partner had a steak sandwich costing €20. I had a toasted cheese sandwich €13. The steak in the sandwich was sparse and tasteless. My cheese sandwich appeared to be made with cheese and cheap brown bread. Both were served with overcooked chips. Altogether a very expensive disappointing lunch. We won’t be rushing back. The 2 stars are for the service.

Stayed at hotel and played two rounds of golf. Golf course was absolutely super! Could not fault it, was lucky with the weather and the course was in very good condition for this time of year. I was rather disappointed with the hotel experience. Food and service in the Golf snug was fantastic however in the main hotel it was a different story. Everyone we went to the main “piano” bar we had a long wait for anyone to approach to seat us. Also at breakfast we had to ask constantly for items and also for cups/condiments which were not in place on the table. Not sure if it was a lack of staff or if new staff had just started but service was a bit disappointing for the price we paid for the package.

Stayed at the Portmarnock Hotel last night to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. They made it just as special as our wedding day there in 1999. Friendly & efficient staff. Amazing food especially the surf & turf for dinner which was cooked to perfection. The whole ambience and feel about the Hotel has never changed. We love it!

I was just here between March 10th-17th and this place is AWESOME place to visit. The staff was friendly and more than helpful. The Jameson Bar was great and the lovely waitresses wonderful and so on top of everything including the bar tenders - Hugo thank you so much for the great drinks. I am definitely planning my Holiday again real soon. Your missing out if you not visiting this place. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you! A big thank you to the young waitresses for a memorable trip. I wont forget you for sure.

What a lovely getaway. Beautiful hotel, comfy beds, clean everywhere even the tops of the radiators 🤣staff friendly, Mary in the Seaview couldn’t do enough for us, everyone was so helpful. Food absolutely delicious. And the spa was divine. The manager Helen couldn’t do enough for us, so kind & professional. Mary & Hilary worked their magic, biotech facial & massage, highly recommend. Breakfast was the only thing I wouldn’t rave about. But if that’s all that wasn’t perfect, not bad. And obviously being beside one of the most beautiful beaches in the country is a massive bonus, all the gorgeous clean sea air.
