Nice spot! I came here recently for swimming. It was so packed even on non busy hours. There is a wee spot for swallow swimming area, that area was literally filled with people. So I couldn't swim there. There are other spots to swim near the rocks, but too risky, there is no ground to get back up. The waves will be hitting hard and giving you less control. Thanks to the sea weed on the rocks, I got some grip to get back up. But I wouldn't recommend anyone swimming near the rock area when the waves are hitting hard. Overall, its a beautiful place to visit. There is not much car parking here, pretty packed even on the street roads.

Lovely spot for a swim. Water is always the perfect level of wetness and when you get out, the water falls off you. It's a win win. No charge to get in and it's open all year round.

First Swim of 2023 today (17th April) Water temperature a balmy 9 degrees Celsius. Very sociable. This makes the list of top 10 things to do in Dublin. Get the Dart train from Pearse Street to Sandycove. Go to the “chippers” in Blackrock for fresh fish & chips at Sisi’s afterwards. A perfect afternoon! Update: 27th May- 2 pics of high tide and 28th May- 1pic of low tide and resident seal.

Excellent place for a cold dip and some open water swimming. Cold when you first get in but once you’re warmed up it’s invigorating. We were lucky to get parked as finding a spot is almost impossible.

Famous bathing spot in Dublin. It gets very busy on sunny weekends. Parking is on the street around the area and can be very hard to find on weekends.

Really nice place to swim and enjoy. It is a bit cold but cmon in Dublin it is pretty normal. The top of the hill has great views to relax and you will only see joy and happines from the people who visit here. Great place to go and relax during heatwaves.

Always a favorite stop of mine when I visit home! Lots of people jumping off the rocks and enjoying the water on a sunny day! Very popular little beach in Sandycove. Great toilet facilities with hot water on the south of Sandycove past James Joyce tower

Our first swim at the forty foot. It was cold… but absolutely breathtaking and we can’t wait to do it again. The experience was out of this world as we are from South Africa and not used to the cold water but we had a great time and really loved every moment.

The most amazing tranquil place. I don't sea swim but love to go watch everyone in sandycove. The cove is a great place when the tide is in too. Lifeguards on duty.

Highlight of our trip to Ireland. We're attempting a weekly cold water plunge and this week's plunge was excellent. Open air changing rooms, 7 degree Celsius water, about 100 other bathers in and out. To describe the water from Joyce's Ulysses "The snotgreen sea. The scrotumtightening sea."

Fancy a cool refreshing swim? Can’t think of a better place to recommend in Dublin. Great spot all year round but make sure you pick a good time because it can get busy when the suns out. Great place to walk the dog too!

It's South County Dublin's Most Important Treasure (in my opinion), and has been a beacon of happiness that's saved my life more times than I can count. I absolutely love this place even more than anywhere I've even been on holidays.

Very very popular with sea swimmers and sun bathers alike. Quite a tiny beach but lots of grassy areas to sit and enjoy the views. Everything you will need is within walking distance such as restaurants, coffee shops an ice cream parlours. Love it.

Always a nice spot for a walk. All the better when the public toilet is in working order. Especially when you have the little ones

Perfect spot for a swim, water is great and easy to swim at lower tides. Parking can be hard though so maybe park and walk down.

Amazing seaside experience with a nice view over to the harbour - Dublin sea. Green to sit down and have a picnic with family or friends. If you go bit further, there is a cliff where from where you can jump in the sea if the weather is hot and enjoy a nice swim. If you want a good view, go in early and catch a space.

Great place to throw off the cares of your day in very cold water surrounded by nice people all doing the same. The warm glow after you're dried and dressed lasts for hours. Warning: bring a really thick, cosy coat.

Great place for a dip/ swim. There was a good few people there, so you're kinda encouraged to get into the water. Parking is very limited, so don't push it, easy 5 minutes walk from the streets around.

While we didn't swim, we watched about 50 people getting in and it was a hilarious and fun thing to watch. The Irish are a hearty bunch!

A great place for a dip in the sea, (when there isn't a film crew around)

Hands down the most stunning location for a dip. Worth the walk to this end of the town! The water was ball-shrinking cold haha but clear as day and there are changing / shower facilities there too!

A must for cold water swimmers, amazing views of Dublin Bay. Sometimes you'll even get a visit from a seal 🦭 when in the water!
