Absolute rip off. We paid €359 for one night in this hotel, without breakfast included. The room (116) was really outdated, the carpet was filthy, the windows were mouldy, the wallpaper was peeling, some of the drawers had no base and and TV reception was crackly like something from the 80s. The price we paid for 1 night was ridiculous given the quality of the room. The staff were friendly but from a value for money perspective it was ridiculous.

Just returned from 2 night stay here and can honestly say it was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in!! The curtains were hanging off the rails. There was an inch of dust on the very old, outdated funiture and the bed linen was stained! My friends room was slightly better however the chair in her room had a leg missing so was actually dangerous!! We book the restaurant for a meal on Monday night. It was excellent. The bar area is very nice and the bar staff were very friendly. We then tried to book restaurant for Tuesday night but were told restaurant was closed for two days. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance of this hotel! The reception staff were unfriendly and uninterested in our stay. I would not recommend this hotel. In fact, best avoided if possible. Very disappointing stay in Portmornack.

€380 I just got quoted for basic double room without breakfast. Same prices for every weekend in coming months. Same room with breakfast was €145 last September. This is a national scandal and clearly one of the hotels in Dublin highlighted in the media ripping people off. I phoned and asked why such an increase and the response was simply supply and demand and maybe shop around. Not good enough please review your rates asap!!!

Overpriced for the type of room we had. The staff were fantastic though and very helpful. The room was quite dated, bathroom needs updating, the floor hadn’t been cleaned properly. Stains on the bed sides, and was horrified (covid esp) to see there were no mattress protectors used. The room had stains on the walls and net curtains. We had to ask for cups. The coffee sachets had hard granules when opened and no T-bags were left for us. No iron, hair dryer to use. were placed at the back door of the hotel, so no sea view, just vans in a car park. We paid €169 for one night, that did not include breakfast, which is €12 extra, breakfast should be included in the high price. I’ve stayed in hotels, esp in the UK for £60, and had better rooms. I think you pay for the location. I think it’s best to call hotels direct to get better deals and ask for sea views. I must say though, that the reception staff were excellent and really helpful. One lady had finished her duty at 11pm the previous night, she was there again at 8am in the morning. That is awful. I wouldn’t accept those hours. The morning breakfast servers were very good and attentive. I would stay there again, however, I would phone them first and ask them about the rooms, beds and sea view. The price is scandalous, and all the hoteliers in Ireland really need to be investigated as to why they are charging these prices.

A Beautiful location, unfortunately we didn't have a warm welcome at the reception, a bit of a patronising and impatient attitude. Booking included dinner (one course of your choice) and breakfast. The food was lovely but not all main courses are included in the voucher. The receptionist gave us a ground floor room without view, Room had stained carpet, curtains and overused furniture. Mattresses were soft and thin (very uncomfortable to sleep) without mattress protectors and found some hair on the bed. In the morning the waitresses were very welcoming and professional, the breakfast was lovely. Overpriced room for what we have got.

Recently spent a week here with my daughters and father. The hotel was lovely as were all the staff. Our rooms were extremely clean and we were well looked after. Unfortunately my father was ill whilst we were there and the the staff could not do enough for us. On top of this the location is great. I would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.

Went to the carvery on Mother's day. I was very disappointed as the food was lukewarm and a very small portion. Staff were very friendly. Car parking and wheelchair accessible. Beautiful views of the sea.

Went out to the white Sands hotel on Mother’s Day with my husband, mam and dad. To say we where disappointed is an understatement. We went in to the restaurant and we had a carvery. Not much to choose from, 3 meat items that’s it, the food was not hot, the vegetables not cooked properly, before swallowing your last mouth full of dinner they where clearing the table and taken your dessert order. It wasn’t that busy but they where rushing you out.

Checked in and our room was booked, “upgraded” they said to us as a sea view room. Sea view meant the front of the hotel so as everyone drove in they could see into our room. The room itself had an awful smell of body odour and the bathroom wasn’t clean with microbial growth in the shower. Not impressed.

Good and bad experience in the White Sands hotel- meals were very good, room was a reasonable size, and beds were comfy. However, there was dust around the television, one of the chairs was broken and the receptionist seemed put out that I wanted it replaced. Wallpaper was peeling in the corridor, a bulb wasn't working in the bathroom and a lampshade was broken. I wouldn't usually complain about these minor things, but the hotel cost €170 a night just for the room. At that price the shabbiness was not acceptable. I wouldn't go back or recommend.

I gave 2 star. Location was way out from City Centre. Bus ride. Hotel needs alot of work on it. Very run down. From Reception, Bar & Waiter needs a bit more training. I think they were only new starters. My room was dark, no view of the sea, breakfast was OK. Nothing great. I didn't eat in the bar. Only a few drinks. I paid up to €200 for twin room & breakfast. Wasn't worth the money. Unfortunately I wouldn't plan in staying again. I do believe it once was a popular wedding Hotel. I honestly don't think I would like to attend a wedding there. Some people are given 5/5. 🙄

The staff were very friendly and the location was peaceful, even if it was far away from the city centre, but the room was really gross and the TV didn't work, nor did a lot of the lights. The carpet was ancient and stained and moldy, and had chewed gum on it, as well as bits of food? And there was a little balcony but there was only one chair for a two-person room and it was really dirty. Fine for a bed to sleep in but the price was ridiculous for what it was, even with the very kind and helpful staff.

Our Irish friend took us Greek tourists for our first dinner after landed at Dublin Airport. We stayed in Ireland 18 days, this was the most delicious meal we have had in Ireland. Congratulations to the chef. Also very friendly , polite and helpful stuff. We will be back in our next visit to Ireland! Clean toilets. We didn't stay at the hotel, hope to do it sometime, it looked lovely.

I stayed here for 1 night and it was grand, nice hotel staff were nice and food was lovely, the room was grand and a comfortable bed. The location is great right beside the beach so with the good weather it was great sitting outside having a drink

Stopped for a quick beer and sat on the veranda. Was a beautiful day and enjoyed my beer in the sun. Sunday is Roast carvery day and I've been recommended to try it, massive portions - renowned in the area.

It can be understood that its a old hotel and needs some restoration here and there Unfortunatly the room we were given was absolutly filthy and stank of cigarettes. Carpets dirty hair and personal leftovers in the draws. Bathroom in desperate need of a clean urine on the floor around rhe toilet. All this at such a high cost. I would not recommend anybody stays here ever we were stuck as we were prepaid and others were full Very disappointing

The carpet was covered in stains and moldy, there was hair all over the bathroom, the toilet was dirty, the shower was moldy. Really the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in- it was genuinely shocking what bad shape it's in. The wall paper in the hallways is peeling off and bubbling. It's a good hotel as far as being close to the airport but other than that. No.

Great location, would love to stay here in the summer. Not all lights were working in our room and we only discovered communal room and vending machine on last day. Bar serves a nice Guinness and food is good.

Stayed for 3 nights from 9/9/23. Ate a couple of nights there , food was lovely, staff were lovely. Asked for room with sea view when booking and this is what we got. Room on 1st floor was spacious. A bit dated, but was clean and bed comfy. Reception staff were lovely, and lady we dealt with most, Lorraine, was very helpful. We have connections with Malahide, so walked in, 4km, but, if struggling there is a bus. Portmarnock is a lovely place and wouldn't hesitate to stay at white sands again .

Great place for a pint and some food. Price of a pint very good at €5.50 for a Guinness. Not trying to rip you off like other places in Malahide. Location great looking out over portmarnock beach. Pity Tamangos nightclub is closed down as was a great place to go.

I am writing this comment on behalf of my sister who was with us on this weekend away - please be careful if you are bringing CASH to this hotel as the STAFF CANNOT be trusted!!! I stayed in this hotel this weekend, the weekend of the 20th November 2021. Between us all we spent €700+ on hotel rooms and food and drink in 24 hours - We only used card payments no cash transactions took place at any point (management / hotel owner please feel free to check back on the cameras) - As we were staying in the hotel room we left our belongings (bags, pursues passports etc) in our hotel room bed side table. We did not need these as we stayed in the hotel bar so we just needed our bank card to make payments. Before I arrived to the hotel I used an ATM to withdraw €150 from my bank account incase of an emergency. The night was absolutely brilliant the bar staff of oasis is 100% and would completely recommend them. However, The morning of the 21st November I checked out of the white sands hotel and completely forgot to remove my purse from the bedside table draw, (I went for a walk along the beach after I checked out) when I realized i forgot my purse I quickly went back to the hotel and my purse was brought down to the reception by the cleaner (who at this point was standing in reception holding my purse in a white bag) I took the purse off her and left the hotel to go to the car in the car park, I opened my purse at the car and my €150 was missing. I kindly spoke to the receptionist who got me in contact with her manager Sean. Sean (who should not be in management) came to me with an attitude and stated his staff do not rob, and he will not be questioning his staff. Sean was reluctant to take my name and number and did not want to look into this further when I gave my name and number Sean kept repeating ‘what sorry what as if he could not hear me’ very very unprofessional. Sean then apparently looked through the camera within 15 minutes from the past 10 hours in the hotel which is completely fine however there is NO cameras in the hotel rooms. Whilst I was waiting for Sean to come back to me I sat in the oasis bar and the Sean made a scene in front of the customers and staff in oasis which is very unprofessional I gladly explained to the customers of this hotel what had happened. At this point there was still no apology as to what had happened. Sean and the cleaner Alexander walked off both smirking. This hotel is an absolute disgrace. Not only did they get €700+ from us they also robbed us ! Sean kept stating ‘it is my word against yours and I cannot believe what you are saying, if this is true I would bring my staff outside and fire them on the spot’. After Sean left our table we left the bar and headed home. I called the hotel today (22nd November) to see if there was any updates or any further investigation, this time I was speaking to another unprofessional manager called Mary, Mary was speaking in a very condescending tone, she also called me by ‘love’ over the phone - Mary stated our table had a lot of drinks that night and we did not go to bed until after 1AM, (I think this hotel forgot there is Covid restrictions in place and did not ask us to return to our rooms at 12) Mary stated when people drink alcohol this reduces your memory and believes we may have forgot what we done with this €150 - as stated above we only used card payments (statements can be provided and cameras can be reviewed). Mary kept stating the consumer act stating that if any customer of a hotel is bringing any valuables into the hotel the staff MUST be advised of this. As they were not advised that we had cash in my purse they are not looking into this any further. Our party will not recommend this hotel to anyone, nor will we stay here in the future which is very disappointing as it is in a perfect location.

Big change since my lest visit. Now rigidly checking Covid certs and taking names etc. Pint €4.50 before 6pm €5.50 after. Bar food looked good. Place was warm and friendly but that could change.

Loved staying here! The ocean view was amazing and we were able to listen to the waves crashing in the distance as we slept. The view was great from the window at breakfast as well, and before making our way to Dublin the next day we spent some time walking along the beach. It was incredibly picturesque — there were park benches surrounded by green grass and wildflowers overlooking the beach. There were some gentlemen training horses in the water which was cool. Lots of pretty shells on the beach too. I recommend this stay and location!

Arrived at around 4pm. Checked in to be told we had a great room with a great Sea view. All hopeful. Also told no breakfast included but we could get at 13.50 each. Sauntered off to the room which was Tiny Dark Dull but had 4 lamps in a small room. Double bed was smallest id ever seen. The window was wide open even though it was Thunder and lightning conditions outside. We did have the Sea view once we looked past all the cars and people in front of it. Id say it looks breathtaking on a Sunny day. Turned on telly and channel was snowy with a reception from an 80s portable.Tried changing the channel but didnt work. Triwd turning off but didnt work.Had to unplug with alot of work from the back. When highlighted to reception they Thanked us for saving them the electricity. No empathy. Bathroom was clean but sink filled up without the plug. Checked our booking we did have Breakfast included.Advised reception who changed it on the Computer with alot of muffled grumbling. Went to the bar for food. The barman very nice and friendly.Drinks served swiftly. The burger and chips and fish and chips took 45mins as we watched the kitchen staff sit around laughing and joking in the kitchen area. Nobody else in the food area. The food was quite nice when it arrived. The main bar was busy with lots of tvs for the football. The Guinness and Heineken were spot on.Well Done The beer is not enough to ever tempt me back here to stay in the hotel. This is a hotel stuck in the 80's

Recently stayed with my son we have previously stayed here on many occasions due to the location and have never been disappointed. Staff are great especially the warm welcome you receive from Ann and Mary at reception. Food is also good.

Incredibly dirty and outdated hotel. Mouldy shower with no hot water. Mouldy bathroom. Holes in the dirty old fashioned curtains. Condensation running down the windows. Plastic cups for coffee. Flat pints. Taxi driver told us the homeless stayed here during Covid. Do not stay here.

My husband and i had a lovely stay here in the Sands. The staff are all lovely and very pleasant. Food was really lovely in bar and great choice. Breakfast the best in a while. A credit to manager Sean for all the lovely staff. Also lovely seaviews. Highly reccommended to friends and family. Definately will return.

The staff were lovely, welcoming, and accommodating. The food in the bar was good, but somewhat overproced. Having said that - the decor and furnishing is very dated, and the in-room amenities were somewhat lacking; No fridge or mini bar in the room; Only shower caps and wall mounted soap/"body wash" dispensers were provided - not even hair conditioner; Disposable cups everywhere; the shower was in no way adjustable (rigidly mounted to the wall, no lateral movement, and leaking, no flexible shower head). As an extra - there was a mouldy spot on the shower ceiling. No in-room aircon (which makes the rooms on the eastern side uncomfortably warm even in April in Ireland); The TV is broadcast only with a USB port for thumb drive media, no screencasting or even an HDMI port (2010 says hello). Overall - not a bad experience, just a bit of a blast from the past, and not in a nostalgic way. Needs a renovation and some investment in maintenance to justify the pricing.

Came today with my elderly parents for Sunday lunch. The both have small appetites so usually have a half portion. They both chose the roast beef - got one small slice and couldn’t eat it as it was so tough and the carrots were hard! Usually elsewhere they get two scoops of mash but today only one. Bad value. Looked pretty poor I thought. My burger however was really good but today was supposed to be all about them and only I was happily fed!

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Dublin. Overlooking the beautiful velvet strand beach with a bounty of shops and restaurants in the area. Every staff member was friendly and attentive and the musicians who played in the bar on Sunday are legends. The hotel offers everything you need if you don’t feel like venturing out from a la carte dining to their food truck with more casual options and ice cream! What a gem. Thanks guys.

Lovely outside with fabulous views. Inside, sadly have no sea views. Very dark and a little faded. Food is OK. Seems to depend on what day you go. One day fish and chips are gorgeous, fresh white fish in light batter, next day, well, thick batter and small fish 🐟 not so fresh looking.
